I was in town for work and decided to try something new, I had heard about this place from someone so I decided to stop in. The ambiance is pretty quiet and chill which is perfect because I like to work while I pick at my lunch. I was greeted by a really nice young lady who was so polite and helpful. I had pulled my laptop out to start working and was looking around to see if they had the WiFi password posted. She had noticed me looking around and came over and asked if I wanted the password, I really appreciated that. I ordered the fish and chips not knowing what to expect and unfortunately it wasn't good. The fries were on par for fries, but the fish just tasted off and I couldn't eat it. It was lukewarm warm inside at best. I may have gotten through 1 of the three pieces. The tarter was pretty standard, and the ranch had great flavor but was so watery. I always hate giving bad reviews, but I will always be honest in my reviews. I always give a place two chances, so I will be back to try the breakfast. 5 stars for service, 2 for my lunch today. Saturday breakfast., 9:30 am...15 customers. All customers obviously waiting for food/service. No one was eating. Only the cook and one older waitress. Stood at the door for 3 minutes (while waitress rewrote tickets). A patron came up tp us and told us to just sit. Took waitress another 10 minutes to acknowledge us. For the group of six, food came out one plate at a time. Took another 5 minutes for coffee and menus. Coffee was see-through and tepid. Waitress came from behind the counter to tell 3 tables they had no more potatoes. We're still waiting. 5 more minutes until she took our order and another 30 for it to come. Just breakfast food. In the meantime... Transient looking dude sits at the bar...waits/ignored for 5 minutes to ask if he can charge his phone. Waitress tells him she only has 2 outlets...one behind some guests and the other one is blown. Group of six 20-30 somethings with a toddler and baby, allowed their tot to run, literally, all over the restaurant, also crawling on the floor. One woman picked up her baby, pulled off its pants, undid the onsie, and stuck her fingers between the diaper and baby's butt. She then started to undo the diaper!!! And stepped out of my view and the man came back into view balling up a disposable diaper!!!! These people were not locals and obviously had money. Filthy animals! A (local) dad got up and left the restaurant while adult son was in the bathroom. Son comes back and is in a panic looking for dad. He's had a stroke and is "physically better but not mentally." How do I know this you ask...WELL, waitress proceeds to tell folks table by table the details of this family. Talk about weird and unprofessional!!!! So if you've bothered to read this far the upshot is this...SLOW service, uninspired food (Quality or quantity), dirty/dilapidated interior, and bizarre environment. read more

Went into Cup of Sass on July 1st before the Art & Oysters Fair. Great service. The breakfast was delicious - eggs were perfect and toast was buttered! The back room has big windows letting in lots of light with a view of the area below. Oh, and the coffee was good too! read more

Boy was that good. I had today's breakfast special (Eggs Benedict w/Hashbrowns). I'm not a fan of shredded potato hashbrowns (they're too easy to mess up), so I was pleasantly surprised when southern style (cubed with optional onions a bell peppers) was available. Eggs nicely medium poached, and homemade Hollandaise. Lots of locals and the wonderful waitress knew 'em, what they wanted, and if they wanted anything customized in their order. A very inviting and cheery place. A great start to the day. Well worth stopping in. read more

Hot coffee that's not see through!! Awesome! Had eggs, hashbrowns and a pancake. He had chick fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. Walked in and they had 2 regulars drinking coffee at the counter. Cool. Waitress was nice and food came out piping hot! It hit the spot! Everything was cooked great and didn't have any issues. Simple menu. Nothing fancy. Staff professional and was inviting. Came to give refills on my coffee. While staying on the coast south of Newport, our park ranger informed us of a fantastic fireworks display on July 14. We went to see it and noticed the Cup of Sass cafe, although it was closed then for the celebration. So we came back the second day later because all the restaurants in Newport were so crowded. It was a late lunch for us, arriving only 40 minutes before they closed at 2:00 pm. It's not fancy inside, but the staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered a club sandwich and a soup and salad. Both were excellent. The soup was made from scratch there on site. The salad was crisp. If we lived in the area, this would definitely be a regular place we ate. read more

I stopped at the Cafe looking for a quick bite to eat at 2pm when it apparently closes. The waitress who was subbing for her sister kept the place open longer and they made me a quick BLT to go. The staff was genuine and welcoming, the BLT was amazing and I cannot thank them enough for staying open longer to make me some lunch. I will definitely be back - just a little bit earlier next time. The food the other customers were finishing up looked like delicious and authentic home cooked meals. We had lunch there 6/16. I had a good Ruben, and my wife had a fair French Toast. It was clean, and had a country decor that was appropriate for a small town diner. Went on 10/8 service was poor. Waitress was rude, asked for a few more mins to decide and she came back almost immediately nearly demanding our order. Slammed our drinks down on the table nearly spilling them. Then when my food was ready I watched it sit in the window for 5 minutes while we waited on the rest of the order. By the time I got my food it was cold and undercooked. Lost my appetite and couldn't even eat, then they only offered a refund for part of the meal and our drinks. It was disgusting and we won't be back. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Dine at your own risk. read more
