I was happy to find this location only about 8 minutes from my hotel. Unfortunately, when I put the location into my navigation app, the directions showed a completely incorrect route of over 8 hours! I mentioned the issue to the manager, who was very nice and told me she would contact someone to have it corrected, but unfortunately it still hasn't been fixed. Since I'm unfamiliar with the area, I tried again another day and ended up driving around lost and was about 30 minutes late to work because I couldn't get accurate directions to the store. I really enjoy Coffee Bean, and I would have stopped here several more times during my stay. It may only represent a few cups of coffee from me, but inaccurate directions could also be costing this location other customers who simply give up trying to find it. Hopefully management can get the map/navigation listing corrected soon. It would make a big difference for customers who aren't familiar with the area.

I've been pretty disappointed with this Philz location after having issues with my drinks on multiple occasions. The first time, I ordered a matcha with no ice, and the cup was barely more than halfway full. I understand that removing ice can affect the volume somewhat, but receiving a cup that looked almost half empty was disappointing, especially considering the price. I decided to give this location another chance and ordered a matcha with ice. Even with ice, my drink still wasn't filled properly. After comparing it to photos from other reviews showing the same or similar drinks, there was a noticeable difference in how full mine was. I've also noticed that I'm not receiving the original Philz-branded cups that I see in other customers' review photos. I regularly go to the Walnut Creek location and have always received my drinks in the regular Philz cups there, so I'm not sure why this location seems to be different. Then, on a third occasion, I placed a mobile order for a hot coffee and somehow received an iced coffee instead. A friend was picking up the order for me, so they didn't know it was supposed to be hot and weren't able to point out the mistake to the barista right away. Mistakes happen, and I normally wouldn't leave a negative review over one bad experience, but after multiple orders with issues, it feels like there's a consistency and quality-control problem at this location. I really like Philz and have had good experiences at other locations, especially Walnut Creek, which is why the repeated problems at the Concord location have been disappointing.

If you enjoy coffee, you have to visit Berk's Beans! Whether you want to learn more about coffee…read morebeans, or are already a coffee nerd, this is the place for you. Their default coffee is a pour over (and you get a free one with each bag of beans you purchase). It's in a business park, so there is lots of parking but not a lot of signage from the street. They have a lot of information on different coffees and coffee tasting in the shop and online. Their online roasted coffee catalog online is truly overwhelming - because you can order any and they will roast it fresh for you, within 1-2 days - but the available beans in the shop are more limited and rotate each day. If you order beans online, you can even specify what roast level/temperature you want! If you stop by in person, the staff is happy to chat and answer any questions you have. My one suggestion would be to offer more light roasts (if you look at the catalog, many are light-medium) for the truly funky-fruity aficionados.
