Yum! Yum! Yum! The only real criticism I had of Cup Cafe was that it's incredibly loud and I could barely hear my dining partner speaking on the other side of the table. That's the negative. The positive: most delicious. The menu is a bit odd--every section lists the hours available for certain foods, and they're all different. We were there for dinner, but I'd like to come back for breakfast. It was pretty crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was relaxed but acceptable. A couple small pieces of very delicious bread came out before we ordered. It was warm and crunchy and tasted divine. I thought the herb butter overwhelmed the bread to some extent, though. Hubby wasn't hungry so he just had the gem salad, which was exquisitely plated and quite tasty. I tried the chicken and gnocci. Ordinarily I wouldn't order a chicken breast anywhere (yawn) but the squash gnocci/mushroom/greens on which it were served were wonderful! I had a couple gnocci that seemed a smidge overcooked but by and large and loved this combo. The chicken had a good texture and there was a lot of creaminess infused in the dish. It's quite a lot of food; I was unable to eat it all, but coincidentally Hubby discovered his appetite and helped out a lot. While we were eating we saw some other amazing-looking dishes come out. A guy across the room got a massive amount of fish and chips and the lady next to me had something that might have been 3 corn cakes, which also looked wonderful. Their dessert case is probably dangerous. Did not examine too closely. read more

The Cup Café is has much better than average food. The menu is very creative and much more sophisticated than you would expect. The Cup is located in the historic Hotel Congress. Inside it looks like a 1960's coffee shop. Don't let that fool you. There is also a very nice outside seating area. More importantly, the menu is creative and very well executed. I had the Cast Iron Baked Eggs (two eggs, ham, leeks, gruyère cheese, cream, fines herbes, hotel potatoes, toast), that was fantastic. The lunch and dinner menu is just as creative and well executed. If I lived in Tucson I would be back for sure. read more

We started going to Hotel Congress for the music, but started planning ahead to have dinner at the Cup, too, after our first meal there. We love the fish tacos best, and they have a salsa/cabbage dressing that keeps this meal on our "visit often" list. Prices are reasonable for such a significant downtown spot, and they have a great Ginger Beer. Not sure if you're supposed to get the full 12 ozs (I think you should) since one time we did and one time we got a glass full of ice splashed by Ginger Beer, but overall, we recommend this place for the ambiance and the food. read more

The king of clubs is out of this woooorld. The place was a little tricky to find for us, we walked past it a couple times. It was our first visit to Tucson. We split the king of clubs sandwich and it was PLENTY of food. If I'm ever back in Tucson I will for sure return even if it's just to have this sandwich again. read more

Overall I was let down, I have heard such good things about this place but last night it didn't deliver. My first ever trip to the cup was for breakfast, only I had a piece of chocolate cake and a coffee, both were wonderful. The breakfast looked much better than the dinner we had. Our dinner server was very timid. He was slow and didn't know answers about the menu, bummer! We started with the tortilla soup. Chef Ramsey never would have let that leave the kitchen. We added a teaspoon of salt which made it edible. The dish names were creative and funny like the heart-breaker, our appetizer! It was good but for four people there was five pieces of bread, and remember the slow waiter, well we got more bread to finish off our starter, later. The dinners were OK, nothing special at all. The salads were a tad over dressed with bland dressing, the sandwich was good not great. The highlight was the lemon meringue pie. The crust was like buttery candy, the lemon was nice and tart with pulp, and the meringue was done with pounds of perfection. The end result, the price tag was to high for the quality of food served minus dessert. I dug the atmosphere, the patio, the floor, the old architecture, being downtown, and I will go back for breakfast but I will have to pass on the dinner fare. read more

I enjoyed the food here and the atmosphere was great. It has a classic vibe but is still very unique. I enjoyed the desert the most. It is not often that one has the opportunity to get tre leche and it did not disappoint! The server when I went was a bit slow so I dinged them a star. read more

I know there is already 60 reviews of cup so I'm not going into details but they do good work. A little on the pricy side (at least on a college budget) but well worth the monthly treat. Breakfast is served opening till 4. Dinner 11- midnight (I think) Most recent eat: creole breakfast, so good! read more

I've sincerely never been disappointed by the food nor the service at the Cup Cafe. Everything from the ambiance to desserts is superb. They always have interesting art on the walls, at least some of which I presume is by local artists. Currently, they have a massive piece of "commands" including memorable and sort of twisted quotes. But I digress. Get the Creole breakfast and thank me later. read more

We went on a Monday so we didn't have to experience the always-underestimated wait time that many others have posted about (though we have experienced in the past). The food was excellent and the service is very good. It's definitely worth a breakfast trip, especially if you have time to sit around and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

Clean tables, clean floors and a beautiful day. Super cool atmosphere, while Neil Young played in the background. Staff was very attentive and friendly, plus the Food was an A++. Matt is a great leader and Dusty, both Loren's and DC really made my day. read more

I saw this on tucsonfoodie.com. It was on a list of the seven most sustainable restaurants in Tucson. That piqued my interest. Dishwashers run on solar-heated water, waste from straws is almost gone, and produce is sourced locally when possible. I love Hotel Congress, so that helped out too. Our group started with the Sonoran Shrimp. That chimichurri vinaigrette was amazing. Some of us were slurping that sauce to the bitter end. We got the Mission Street Tacos for a main dish. This may have been the favorite. Everyone loved 'em and those flour tortillas looked and tasted fresh from the griddle. I had the Southwest Salad with blackened chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice crispiness and flavor on the outside, flavorful and juicy on the inside. Fresh veggies and amazing cheese (I admit to thinking it was rice at first - thanks red wine). We topped it off with two desserts. The key lime pie and flourless chocolate torte. I'll almost always choose chocolate first, but that key lime pie and the graham cracker crust were to die for. Intimate setting, looking across the hotel's back patio. Our waiter was laid back and relaxed, but treated us with great care. Two thumbs up for Cup Cafe!! read more

Cup Cafe - Southwest salad with blackened chicken. Amazing! - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I simply LOVE Cup Cafe! I love the food, I love the vibe, I absolutely adore the patio!! I would eat here everyday, if my income would allow it! The thing that I love most is that every single time I eat here, it's absolutely perfect!!! It was a warm and sunshiny October afternoon, so we decided to enjoy our meal on the peaceful patio. We each ordered a glass of wine (Malbec for me, Riesling for him) to begin our meal. I ordered one of my favorites, The Depot Salad (a delicious concoction of greens, tomatoes, shaved cheese, red onions, and steak with the most amazing roasted shallot dressing), and he ordered the Maximillian (smoked turkey melt, avocado, Asadero cheese, minus the chiles, on a croissant). Everything tasted delicious, as usual, and the warm autumn (for Tucson, at least) air made for a perfect dining experience. I love Cup and it won't be long until I'm back again! read more

I went with a friend a few weeks ago. A long wait with far to many open tables. Service was slow and painful. Your staff was walking around doing nothing and the GM was bussing tables. Flatware & napkins were NOT even offered....... So Very Sad..... read more

Great food, great service! A great place to eat with all sorts of vegan and vegetarian options

Great breakfast, Friendly Service, and if you are staying at the hotel, fantastic location. I only had breakfast and pie, Both were delicious and did not hurt the wallet. Not as Giraffe Friendly as on would like, especially for a spot out side the city, but we had enough room. read more

Across from the old Tucson Train Station nestled in the bottom of the historic and nostalgic the Cup Cafe is home to a wide array of delectable fare and eclectic patrons at all times. On the weekends you could get breakfast there starting at 7AM and end your night there with the rest of the Tucson Scene with Microbrews up until midnight. The cup has a personality of its own and patronage to match, always a good time to cross the penned floor and belly up to the bar. read more

First impression: Horrible service for lunch. I went with two other women and while we were sat quickly, the waitress bypassed us and helped another man who came in after us before taking our order. Seriously? I understand that at a budget diner, but that was really quite rude at an overpriced place such as this. Already, my appetite went away. I was going to order the coffee, but after waiting 10 minutes to get our order taken, I just wanted some food and get out of there. I ordered the burger without the bun/roll and a side salad. The burger was over seasoned (very salty) and the salad was fresh. Just a really bad experience in general and really, there were maybe two other tables there and 3 waiters/waitresses. I really don't understand how these business stay open. I will just stay away from places like this. read more

I'm not sure what was better, the great breakfast food or the fact that we were seated right next to the refrigerated dessert spinning machine. It's shame it was breakfast time otherwise i would have ordered me some banana cream pie. I'm typically a scrambled egg, pancakes, sausage links and potatoes guy so the Cast Iron Baked eggs was a bit of a departure for me. Although I would probably order the Deposition next time, the baked eggs were very tasty and well seasoned. My wife ordered Bagel N Lox and thought it was excellent. If you are ever craving a great breakfast in a beautiful historic hotel with a sprinkling of hipsters, be sure and hit the Cup Cafe! read more

I concur with the advice to start with a Bloody Mary from the bar while you wait. Easily in the top three bloody Mary's in Tucson. The Cubano sandwich was incredible. Word to the wise (or faint of spicy food), I recommend you get the jalapeños on the side, they are fresh, and with seeds. Although flavorful, too spicy for me. The grapefruit mimosas were delicious as well. The patio is heated and has ample space for kids to play. read more

So Old Tucson. Great ambiance. Nice patio seating. Fantastic food!! Try the Braveheart! Have a double Grey Goose Bloody Mary. Try the AMAZING DESSERTS!!! I was provided GREAT SERVICE from Morgan - she epitomizes what great customer service is about. This place is a very nice to place to grab a bite to eat I would highly recommend it ... if it wasn't closed all the time. It seems like every time I try to go it's always closed either for renovating or COVID . I feel like you get lucky if it's open. read more

I think it is hit or miss here not with the food because it is always great but the wait to get your plate is not consistent. We walked in with another couple who were served in 15 minutes and 35 minutes later we received our plates. The diners next to us ate and finished their entrees before our plates were brought to our table. Disappointed. Maybe next time I will start off with a Bloody Mary and it won't make the 35 minute wait seem like FOREVER! read more

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating but there just wasn't anything special enough about it. I ordered the pesto chicken which was the most interesting pesto chicken sandwich I've ever had. I've never had just a piece of grilled chicken breast slapped on a greasy bun but that's alright. I would definitely come here again because of the location as well as the ambience. Our server was really nice and the limeade was to die for! read more

Located in the historic Hotel Congress the Cup has both indoor and outdoor seating. With a floor made of pennies (good use for an useless coin) and wine bottles chandeliers it is hip and historic at the same time. The menu has a variety of items and I love the old-fashioned Nicoise Salad and the Fish and Chips are crisp and good as well. Try the local, made in Arizona, Maynards Red and White wine (you will be surprised at how good they are). Reservations recommended in the evening as it can get quite busy with a the stuff happening in Downtown Tucson. The Hotel Congress is one of those "Why I Love Where I Live" locations here in Tucson. read more

We went to the Cup Cafe today and had reservations for a late afternoon meal, for St Patrick's Day. In spite of the crowds, we had excellent service and the corned beef and cabbage was the best I've ever had in Tucson. Served with a mustard sauce, the meat and cabbage were perfect, and the potatoes, which must have been cooked separately, were delicious. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Ok. The Cast Iron Baked Eggs are phenomenal... don't bother with anything else, because these eggs will leave you coming back again and again - like a crack addict. The phrase hit or miss was designed for Cup Cafe. I've been a couple times for breakfast; one time fantastic-excellent food, service, drinks, everything and one time terrible-bad food, service, drinks, everything. My very favorite thing at Cup is their happy hour. $5 martinis (Dirty Gray Goose martini is my person favorite), and 1/2 off appetizers. The nachos are delicious. I've never been disappointed in the food or drinks at happy hour. The service is where hit or miss comes in. About 70% of the time we've gotten really great service/servers, but the other 30% we've gotten the worst of the worst. The last time we were there we could see our server standing around doing nothing or chatting with his buddies while our drinks sat at the bar. We finally go up and go them ourselves. We had to flag down the first person we could to get more water/drinks. Our server took our initial order and dropped off the check. That's it. That last experience really put me off the place, but I'm hoping when I go back it'll be back to good. read more

We went for dinner last night to the Cup Cafe. We had not been there for awhile, and while I'm still a fan, our experience last night was not as good as the previous time we went. The food was okay (I had the jambalaya and my husband had the rigatoni.) My husband liked my jambalaya more than he liked his dish which was a bit bland. The service was okay, too. In the afternoon I called for a reservation for that evening and the only seating that they had was outside on the patio. It was a cool evening but they have heaters and it was pleasant, except that the table was so small that there wasn't enough room for the bread plate, our drinks, and our meal plates. At least it was cozy. read more

Nice breakfast place, our service was good, the food was really tasty quality ingredients. The patio is cute, every time I go there is a wait, patio seating is not a bad alternative. Had their quiche which was good, the Silverside Hash was much better. read more

Disappointed tonight, I made a reservation with Open table and the cup called me to confirm. When I arrived they argued with me that my reservation was confirmed for outside seating. Nowhere did I select that nor did they mention it during my call to confirm. The hostess had just had the same conversation with the party seated before us. Someone was not on the up and up, we promptly left rather than continue a fruitless argument. Fair warning, stipulate your seating request and note who you spoke with. read more

I had been here a few times over the years but came on 2/28/21 after my first Covid shot. It was so good I have been back about every other week since. This week I will be going 3 times! Service is great. Love sitting out for breakfast before it gets too hot. I can take my pup, and she loves it. They are very dog friendly, will bring a bowl of water. I'm into basic bacon and eggs so always get that with a pancake instead of toast. Eggs are always over medium just Like I prefer. My friends today, had the skillet breakfast, which the staff all seem to like. They thought it was delish. Monday I'm trying the Barrio toast, friend last time had it and almost licked her plate clean. Barrio bread, if you haven't heard of it or had it, is amazing. Google it. The atmosphere, staff, customers all make this a fun place to go. Eat inside once and outside once then decide which you prefer...depending the weather of course. read more

A recent Tucson transplant, I've heard good things about Cup Cafe from day one and only just today got around to trying it. Wow. I am so sad for past me who didn't get to enjoy this classic joint--a staple for a reason. I had to get the heralded cast iron baked eggs and they did. not. disappoint. It might be over a hundred degrees but the leek and gruyere combo had me transported to a cozy winter morning in one bite. It is going to be absolutely disastrous for my wallet that I recently started a new job literally just around the corner! Can't say I'm upset, though. read more
