Never heard of it. Googled it. Fast food....not my thing. But I was hungry. I was hot a sweaty from working in my storage area next door. It just opened. I was curious. Yelp was calling my name....so I went through the drive through and grabbed a burger. Yes, just a burger. No fries. No curds. No drink. Nothing but a burger. I was a bit confused because they don't give you an option of 1 meat patty, just 2 or 3, so I had to "special order". SO glad I did!!! I LOVE these burgers! I want another one! Now keep in mind they're one of those grilled, smashed down, no form to the burger, burgers...but holy cow! The flavor of that thing came through all the bread and the additions on my burger regardless! So tasty!! I'm so impressed by the burger I'm going back. I've got to try some of the other stuff. I heard Culver's had opened, and after seeing cheese curds on the menu, I talked my husband into going. It was really busy; we had to circle around a couple of times before we saw a couple leaving and snagged their table. My husband ordered the mushroom swiss burger, fries, and a chocolate malt. I ordered the pot roast sandwich (just because it was a little different) and sweet potato fries, and we shared an order of cheese curds. The cheese curds were the highlight of the meal--hot and buttery-cheesy. My husband thought his burger was fine and mentioned that it had a lot of mushrooms, but he didn't think it was spectacular. He liked the chocolate malt and said it was very thick. The regular fries were just ordinary. The sweet potato fries were fine. But I was really disappointed with my pot roast sandwich. It had the potential to be great, but just wasn't. It was not very warm, and the meat was very dry. Maybe the quality was just off due to it being new and busy. I have to say that any place that has cheese in curd form is a winner to me! We went there today and had the mushroom burger, fries, cheese curds and the seasoned green beans. We also tried the shakes and the custard. Positive: the cheese curds are of course the highlight, the burgers were delicious and you could tell that they were fresh, the didn't skimp on the burger toppings, the shake was amazing (strawberry), the fries were crinkly and good, the staff was very friendly Negative: the green beans were boring (they were suppose to be seasoned but tasted like plain green beans, the frozen custard was ok (I felt like for the hype it didn't live up to its expectations, and the seating was horrible (but it is opening week/weekend and so it is negative but I didn't really consider it in my star points. For a fast food place it's not too shabby. I had the double deluxe burger and fries. My Nana had the patty melt with onion rings. I loved the fries, they are cooked just right and have that crinkle to them similar to eegee's. I have to say the onion rings were big circles but very thin. The meat was well cooked but thin and the cheese was not melted very much. I am glad to say I tried it, but I don't think it made my top 5 fast food joints. P.S. My first time at a Culver's was last week and I was impressed. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the shrimp dinner which was excellent. The shrimp were nice and plumb and cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the fries and coleslaw. I also ordered a custard mixer which was very yummy. My friend ordered a bacon cheeseburger and he said it was delicious. The service was fast and the food was fresh. I've since gone twice more and both times had the same great service and food. You can't beat their fish sandwiches, butter burgers or fries. The fish is lightly battered and an actual fillet. The burgers are just heaven. The staff is always efficient and pleasant. I have never done drive thru. I always dine in. One of favorite places to have lunch. read more

I tried their 4 piece Chicken Tenders Value Basket. The chicken wasn't flavorful. I would say KFC is a little better but they do give a good dipping sauce. I'm not sure what sauces they have but I had the honey mustard sauce which was good with the chicken. It also came with fries but I substituted it with onion rings. I still like their onion rings. Definitely not too bad. It was my first time there is got an order of cheese curds and an Andes milk shake, both super delish. Everyone was kind and friendly. The store is super clean inside and outside. I love the way it looks. All tables cleaned off and floors clean of any dirt or stickiness. Haven't had an issue yet. The food is always good, the people are always friendly, all is well. Their frozen custard is delicious. My husband, daughter and I all share a medium mixer. Their rootbeer is good, too. I suggest getting a mixer with Oreos, Reeses chunks and brownie pieces. read more

Great place! For a fast food place I was a bit hesitant, however, it was way better than I expected. Carry more money than you would on other fast food chains because you may need to splurge a little more than intended. The workers seem awkward but are fast and on the spot regardless. My fiancé and I have driven by Culver's countless times saying "we need to try this place!!!" and finally, on Saturday, we did. The service was fast and friendly and our order came out sans problemos. We both had cheeseburgers, which were good, but just that. It was nothing that left my tastebuds screaming, "I need to come back for more!!" The fries were more of the same (and I'm a fry fanatic) so I was especially let down by the pretty bland crinkle cuts. We also split some cheese curds, which were the highlight of the meal... but I was looking forward to a killer burger and fries!!! The cement mixers were pretty good, though I don't know if they're worth the drive, $4+ price, or 750+ calories for a small (and I don't even track calories normally!). I went a little wild when I came here and got a small cherry cheesecake cement mixer, a pork tenderloin sandwich, cheese curds, and a pot roast sandwich. I've already gone over my feelings on the cement mixer, so let's get to the tenderloin sandwich. It isn't traditionally a flavorful cut of meat, so I can't be too miffed that this wasn't bursting with flavor. I can, and am, a bit upset that the breadcrumbs they are dredged in are functionally identical to playground sand, and the breading slides off easily. Not a pleasant texture. The cheese curds? I've never had "real" fried cheese curds, but I know they're supposed to squeek when you bite them. None of the here. Just vaguely oily lumps of orange cheddar. The pot roast sandwich? Well that never made it into the bag. I called once I got home to figure out what could be done, I wasn't terribly interested in driving back across town to get it. They were perfectly nice, though, and I (should) have a coupon for a free meal waiting for me in the main office if/when I go back. I'll give Culver's another shot, but right now they seem to be just a mediocre execution of the midwest's already stereotypically boring and massively unhealthy food. read more

Where do I start with this disgrace of a wanna-b-burger chain. The batch of vapid bubbleheads running this place leave EVERYTHING to be desired. Went there with above average expectations, but after a 45 minute wait for a to-go order that had no changes from standard items (yes, they screwed it up twice with the help of their manager), my wife and I were livid! Their attempt to dismiss the time concern with "well, what do you expect we're swamped" while other orders seemed to be going out the door that were taken even after ours was definitely not acceptable. Their queue management for orders is deplorable; the concept that order numbers are not "in-order" since they're based which one of their stupid lil table tags might be available is just moronic. This organization needs to go take some McDonald's classes and learn process/workflow procedures, customer service, and quality control in a big way. Now to the food itself...after finally getting something that was at least close to our order (third try was a charm) I found the burger only average, if that. The cheese curds were meh....onion rings not bad. Oh, and my wife's burger was RAW inside!!! Nice way to lead to a lawsuit you idiots! Five Guy's and In-and-Out are WAY better!!! Someone bring Tommy's Burger's from Los Angeles out here QUICK, this town is hurting! So with all that...and even the fact they gave us a couple of free meal coupons, I'd never go back to that place. The butter burgers are tender, thick, and exceptional for fast food, the tables and facilities cleaner than most chains, and that dreamy after dinner custard is much more than an afterthought. The soups on our last visit included chicken and dumplings and Italian wedding soup, a fast food first. Not frequently a fastie, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the quality here. First off, we went to the one on Broadway. I've NEVER heard of Culvers before but apparently, it's a "Midwest" thing. lol We're originally from the East coast. We LOVED this place! Our expectations weren't high because we were greatly let down and put off by "In and Out" and "Five Guys" which are disgusting, greasy messes, however; Culvers is SOOOOOOOOOOOO not those places. It's an "upscale" fast food place. The place was clean and very inviting when we walked in. Wide screen TVs skirt the walls thru out and the staff is friendly. At first we thought it was a "wait to be seated" type restaurant because of how nice it was. It's not, just grab a seat wherever you want. The menu is fantastic. They have a bit of EVERYTHING, from burgers to meatloaf sandwiches, fish sandwiches and side dishes you don't see at regular burger joints. My kids got the kiddie meals and my husband and I got burgers. They were GREAT!!! Not greasy or flat pancakes, and taste like a burger you'd get at a big restaurant. We also got the cheese curds, and they disappeared before I got my 2nd one, but thankfully it was enough to say OMG.............our new addiction. lol The kids meals comes w/ a free cup of custard which I thought was great. Just bring the coupon from the bag up to the counter and they'll give you a free cup of custard w/ ANY topping you want on it. The Custard is TO DIE for. So creamy and so many different flavors. There's a freezer when you walk in where you can get something to go like a pint of your favorite custard, to cones, pies, etc. We didn't have to wait at the counter for our order either. They brought it right to our table, which was so cool, the kids thought. This is the boyfriends favorite! I enjoy culvers cheese curds the best - I could eat them for days. I usually get the butter burger with bacon and it is always delicious. My mother in-law and I ended up coming here before going grocery shopping together. I thought it was just going to be a burger joint with limited options. I was dead wrong! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich while my mother in-law, after a few minutes of deliberation, ordered a Reuben. She said the Reuben was beautiful and melted in your mouth, and my chicken sandwich was fantastic. We didn't order sides because we didn't know how big the portions were and wanted to try the frozen custard. The portions were perfect; you felt like you didn't gorge yourself, like you do when you go to a fast food place. Now I know this place was basically meant for you to be able to have a sandwich, split fries or cheese curds with your friend, have a regular size drink (it doesn't look like they carry larger sizes), and finish it off with a cup of custard. We tried the custard; my mother in-law got vanilla and I got the flavor of the day, raspberry cheesecake. It was smooth and beautiful, a perfect ending. Again, the portions were perfect. The servers and cashiers were very nice; they were polite and friendly, patient when my mother in-law worked to make a decision, and outright energetic. When we thanked them, they responded that it was their pleasure. When we went to leave, at least three people told us to have a great day and thank us for coming. My mother in-law had to use the restroom; I don't like to use bathrooms in fast food joints so I waited outside. She came out and told me it was really clean and had a bouquet of silk flowers on the counter between the sinks. What really impressed me was they have a drive through, which means that if my husband and I have to go get some fast food before leaving town, this will be the place we go. Even better, it appears they make their own root beer in addition to their own custard, which means my husband will be a happy man. All in all, I'm highly impressed and will definitely take my husband there, since we're always looking for restaurants with reasonable prices and portion sizes. read more
