This was our first visit to Culver's in Tempe. It is located at Southern and Rural across from the Tempe Library and west of Walmart. We ordered at the counter and took a number to a table. We ordered the 3 piece cod dinner because it is featured on their TV commercial. We decided to share the 3 piece meal and we were glad we did. It came with 3 very large pieces of fish, a generous amount of french fries and coleslaw along with a roll with butter. The fish was lightly breaded and cooked nicely as it was moist and flakey inside. The breading did not have much flavor. The coleslaw was tasty. The crinkle cut fries could have been cooked a little more. They needed salt which was not on the table. I was too lazy to go back to the counter to ask for some. The roll was very dry but the flavor was good. We did not get enough butter to make it moist. The service was friendly and attentive. The food arrived promptly and was brought to us on a plastic tray. Once are done you take your trash to the trash can. Overall the restaurant was clean but the staff needs to wipe down the tables every time a guest leaves. They quickly removed anything left on the tables like cups or plates but I did not see the tables being wiped down. There were some crumbs on our table which we wiped off. If you are a dog lover there is a lovely outdoor seating area with a fireplace. We did see some people who came in just for desert or had a desert on their tray. Granted we did not try any of the hamburgers, milkshakes or deserts as we just wanted to try the fish. This might be a case of quantity versus quality. The fish was ok but not good enough to make us go back. We thought it was a bit pricey at $23.00 for one order of fish and two drinks. The parking is a little painful because there is construction in the parking lot. read more

There's nothing quite like a tasty frozen custard and a burger with fries on a late Friday night. As one of the restaurants open after 10, we headed over for some late night snacking. I had a single scoop of the frozen custard of the day, Georgia peach, and had a bite of the patty melt. The frozen custard was delicious. It was rich, smooth, creamy, with a refreshing peach flavor and peach chunks interspersed in the custard. The patty melt was decent. There was a strong rye flavor in the bread which did distract from the rest of the ingredients in the burger though. Perhaps a double patty would be better for this type of bread. Service was good and our order was made in a short amount of time. The dining area was spacious and clean. Overall a good place for a late night bite. read more

This is one of our favorite places to go for a quick delicious meal. We almost always get the burger or veggie burger meal with Custard Sundays. That's right! They have a veggie burger and it's amazing! We have not gotten any of the chicken meals so I can't speak to those but the butter burgers are great. The custards are almost always loaded with toppings. My favorite part about this location is the staff. They are always extremely friendly and helpful. I thought this was a Culver's trait but I recently visited the Culver's on Shea and the staff was completely different-inattentive and rude. Best burger I've had at a fast food joint! The meat is so juicy and you could taste the melted cheese in every bite, that is in the Wisconsin Pub Burger. The chicken tenders were good as well with a side of ranch and ketchup. I also had the shake. I had the vanilla and you could have 2 toppings blended in, I got the cookie dough and Crunch. It was delish! The only problem is that you can't get any of the toppings through the straw so make sure you get a spoon! read more

Another place that will go under, not because of Covid, but because their inept staff will drive them there. Burgers so thin you can practically see through them at NYC prices. French fries that tasted like onion rings, chicken and fish. OVERPRICED desserts and drinks and slow service. The table was pretty clean, though. First and last visit to Culver's...... at least I know what I am getting at the Burger King right down the street. I was recommended this joint a few months back and although I knew I didn't have to haul myself to Wisconsin for it I did think I would have to find my way to Utah but just our luck on a quick trip to Phoenix it popped up so I gave it a go. I gave the cheese curds a go and HOLY GOODNESS. Those things were straight firrrrre! Sooooo tasty! I tried the custard and it didn't do much for me, it was good and their options are great but I'm just not a huge frozen dairy person and it didn't stand out. I normally get the Wisconson Melt, another good burger from this joint, unlike In & Out, these burgers are not frozen, and you can taste the difference! In regards to their custards, which is perfect on a hot day like today, I either will generally get their Georgia Peach or the Double Strawberry one. I love how they have Pepsi products! I just don't understand why people like this chain. I believe this was the third location I have ever tried. I try to not overdo it on calories so went with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were only half full in the container and the potatoes tasted just like cheap instant. This was not a fast food cheap meal and i barely got any food and what i had was sub par. Went in to get some frozen custard. Asked the girl at the register if the Lemon Crunch was available today and she stated 'yes'. I ordered a pint, she gave me my number and I sat, watching the kids behind the counter play trashcan basketball & goofing around. An older man came to the front & I hoped he would be getting my custard, but nope, he started goofing around with the kids. After about 8 minutes of watching this, I went up to them and asked how long it would be until my custard was ready. The older man was extremely rude and said 'That isn't even available until the 10th' & shoved the sign my direction. I told him that the girl specifically told me it was available, but regardless, what did I pay for & who is getting it? He told me to pick one from the freezer or I could have vanilla or chocolate. I commented on them playing around instead of filling orders, as I was sitting on the bench up front in full view of them WITH my number in my hand. I chose a custard from the freezer, as there was no way I was going to let them make anything for me. As I was leaving, the old man said 'Have a great day' in a VERY sarcastic tone. The kids employed there thought it was hilarious. NOT a way to treat customers and certainly not a way to show our youth how to do a job well done. Wish I could give this location 2 different reviews. 5 stars for the customer service as I went through the drive-thru and then had a very sweet lady named Theresa who while being mature in her years, RAN THE FOOD OUT TO ME. She did not have to and to be honest they should probably have one of the younger employees doing it but her attitude, hustle and smile almost made up for the horrible food. I had the Cod basket with a sweet tea and onion rings. Rings were cold and too greasy, sweet tea was way too warm and diluted to be consider much more then luke warm water, finally the cod sandwich. The cod was MUCH smaller then pictured on their menu and tasteless plus cold and the cheese was not melted. tatar sauce was bland as well. The big ripoff was on the onion rings. I understand charging more for onion rings then just getting French fries BUT...the difference between an order of French fries and onion rings is $0.80 on the menu yet they charge you $1.00 to upgrade ? Bad math and bad policy on that to say the least plus since they were cold and greasy it makes it worse. Again great staff for customer service but Horrible cold food and warm water they pass for sweet tea.
