    Spicy chicken sandwich
    Lesley M.

I stopped in for a quick to-go lunch only to find out that my sandwich was free!! The chicken on the sandwiches are now crispier and very juicy. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of fries and cheese sauce. The chicken sandwich was a solid 8.5/10. I feel like this location is always busy but I do appreciate how sweet the employees are every time I stop in. Thank you Culver's!

We're in Chicago for a few days, staying at the Fairfield Marriott. After reading yelp reviews, we decided to walk across the street and try Culver's. We're from California so have never been to a Culver's. We were pleasantly impressed! I ordered the Strawberry Fields salad that came with grilled chicken and it was delicious. The produce tasted fresh. My daughter ordered the butter burger with fries, and they were the yummy crinkle cut fries. I sneaked a few from her and can attest to their deliciousness. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the service was prompt. Would definitely recommend.

The ice cream really hit the spot and came with so much for the sizes we ordered. We didn't get food and this is my first time here, but I will definitely be coming back!

    Pork Sandwich

Typical for a chain. I was craving a pork loin sandwich since I was in the Midwest but I wasn't "mid" enough so their pork sandwich will have to do. It's a reasonable facsimile I guess. The pretzel bites with cheese sauce were alright. They are famous for their shakes, custard, and concrete whatevers. They seem to make most people happy. I haven't had any lately but it seems they were okay the last time I had one many years okay. Service was good, prices were average, store was clean.

    A great burger awaits

Everything a burger place should be. Freshly cooked beef, cheese, lots of choice of condiments: the Culver's Butter Burger. Sides such as fries, onions rings and cheese curds are really good. Service is courteous and fast. Made to order fresh and served fast. The seating in clean and comfortable. As I write an employee is sweeping up. Wish we had Culver's In California.

For those who don't know, Small Cheval is the fast casual version of Au Cheval which I've had the opportunity to try in NYC. There's plenty of locations throughout Chicago so definitely make it a stop when you're in town. Now is it as good as Au Cheval? Definitely not but at one-third of the price point, it's hard to complain. The beef patties are well-seasoned with crispy edges and just the right amount of fattiness. My main complaint is that there wasn't nearly enough dijonnaise sauce or pickles, making this pretty dry. The bun was nicely buttered and toasted but almost took away from the contents inside the burger. The Famous Fried Chicken Tenders were also a good try. I could tell the chicken was clean & high quality but there was some flavor I couldn't quite place which made it a bit off-putting; thankfully it wasn't super noticeable especially with the sauces. The Golden Fries were delicious and paired well with the burger & tenders! Even the Cookies & Cream Milkshake was solid! Classic milkshake with a good balance of creaminess, sweetness, and texture from the cookie bits. The interior was also bright, spacious, and comfortable! All in all, really solid try!

It's like going to a burger place with a bar inside. I would also have to add with a side of a malt shop thrown in. The lady who took our order was very friendly. Both her and the guy making the shakes seemed competent and efficient. They were both just over worked. There was a rush when we came in so it put them behind. Everything was in good repair. There was no damage to the seats and tables and for the most part they were clean. The things that didn't work for me were the possible understaffing, and the lack of a good onion. I asked for raw onion on my burger. I inspected my burger for it and couldn't find it. So I asked for some more. She was very helpful and handed me a tiny container of minced onions. Apparently that's all they have. I do like a good slice of onion on my burger. If you're looking for a good quick bite to eat or a very tasty shake, this is a great choice! I would come back if the mood struck.

The bun was the first signal they knew what they were doing--lightly toasted, just enough structure to hold everything together without stealing attention. Then came the patty: thick, juicy, with that perfect sear that gives you a bit of crisp before it melts into richness. But the real centerpiece? The fried egg. Perfectly cooked--edges slightly crisp, yolk still runny. The moment you bite in, it breaks and seeps into the meat, turning each bite into something borderline indulgent. It doesn't overpower the burger; it elevates it, adding a creamy texture that balances the salt and char of the beef. The toppings were minimal but intentional--fresh lettuce for crunch, a slice of tomato for brightness, and just enough sauce to tie it all together without making a mess. It's the kind of burger that makes you slow down halfway through, not because you're full, but because you realize it deserves your full attention. Messy in the best way, rich without being overwhelming, and anchored by that fried egg that takes it from good to unforgettable.

I've had Five Guys a couple of times and this exact burgers with the same toppings before so I know what it is suppose to taste like. After a bite, I opened the burger and it didn't smell right so that stopped me in my tracks. Then, I tried the fries and almost choked on the salt caked all over it. Whoever took care of the fries must not have paid attention to what they were doing or someone double-salted it. I took pictures because it is insane how much salt that was not only on the fries but at the bottom of the bag. It is difficult to see the picture of the salt in the bag but the entire bottom of the bag was covered in salt. Everything was inedible and what I ate which was a handful of fries (after I tried wiping off the salt from it with napkins) and that bite of the burger made me sick! I reported this to their corporate office and so far I only got an automated email asking for another chance. Good luck with that. I will follow-up with Cook County Department of Health because they will make other people sick. I will NEVER go there or any Five Guys again. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar.
