**ON CULVER's CUSTARDS ONLY** I had no idea that they have custard!! I'm from Georgia. I didn't know that custard could be a good thing. Where have I been? Per Wikipedia, "Frozen custard is a cold dessert similar to ice cream, made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar." I ended up getting one scoop of vanilla with heath bar and Andes Mint. It was nice... this was a whole bunch of goodness. I had just finished dinner, so I couldn't believe I had room in this. I was actually full, but ... I couldn't stop eating ths custard. I mean, it's got eggs, right? So ... eggs are good for you? .... (keep repeating that to yourself!) ***** The custards are pretty reasonably priced. If you're female, get one scoop! not two scoops! Even if you're male! It can be pretty rich, so go for one scoop at a time. ;-) They have tons of toppings that you can choose from. Heath bar, kit kat, Andes, Nuts, and the list goes on and on and on.... Give it a shot. BTW, the people working the night we visited (Monday) were friendly. This place does not disappoint. I am a big fan of their breaded deep fried cod and chips. They make it to order. So it does get served hot and has always been crunchy on the outside. The tarter sauce is solid and the staff is always friendly. Come on, it is the midwest. When I go back home, I forget how nice everyone is in the midwest. The only way to finish dinner here is the frozen custard. This has more butterfat than any other frozen treat including gelato. Fantastic. read more

Literally just watched a lady customer come in and ask if anyone returned a phone. Brunette lady manager assists. Distraught customer leaves information. Manager proceeds to crumple written info and throw in trash as customer walks out the door. I've eaten at different Culver's before and I am familiar with their menu. However, this review is only for their walleye sandwich that I had earlier this week. This sandwich is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! I've never had a fish sandwich this good!!! I swear this was the best fish sandwich I've ever had!!! The walleye is not processed at all. If it is, it is the best disguise I've ever seen. The piece of fish reminded me of the fish I had at a place in NYC called Assault & Battery. Bobby Flay lost on his show Throwdown back in 2007. The walleye is lightly battered and deep fried. The sandwich comes on a very tasty bun with a light amount of tartar sauce, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese. If you like fish, you've got to try this fish sandwich!!! The restaurant is very clean and welcoming as are the staff I had a very small mistake and spoke to a manager who immediately apologized. We also wanted to make it right. It was a very small mistake is all so I have seen some big mistakes. I would highly recommend this location. I have been to this one many times and never experienced a concern at this location. A place that serves "ButterBurgers" AND frozen custard? HELL YES! I'm kind of glad there isn't a Culver's in Chicago because I'd probably go more than I should. It's definitely a treat when I venture away from the city on weekend trips during the summer. My heart-stopping meal usually consists of a Cheddar ButterBurger with Bacon, fried cheese curds, and a chocolate frozen custard. I've been coming here since they opened. It's the closest Culver's to Park Ridge, so we really have no other choices when it comes to custard cravings. The unique thing about this Culver's is the model train running overhead. It is my son's favorite thing to see. He always wants to sit under the little bridge where the train crosses above. Back to the food, we like their fish dinners but mostly come for the custard. They have monthly schedules out for flavor-holics like me who want Really Reese's or Caramel Crunch. Compared to Kopp's of Milwaukee, I'd say Culver's is not as great on the custard but it definitely clobbers the ice cream competitors in the area. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE !The food would be 4 stars but the one star is for the service at the drive through. I was ordering a simple hamburger meal and asked what beverages they have and was told "Pepsi products " I don't drink soda and asked for raspberry iced tea (which is a Pepsi product) and was told "we don't have that I said Pepsi products " I then said ok never mind that I'll just get a strawberry milk shake for the drink ... My one star is only for this Culver's location. I ordered one simple fish sandwich to go. Got home and took a bite. The whole sandwich ended up in the garbage. Not sure what they did to it but it was extremely bitter tasting. Maybe the batter was old? Maybe the oil needed to be changed? This was your last shot to impress me. Butter + Burgers what a great idea. How can you possible go wrong with the two. Add some cheese and bacon and you're sure to need some sort of major surgery in the next 3-5 years. Did I forget to mention the frozen custard. I'm not a custard expert, but I'm almost positive it's not as healthy as yogurt. The food here is delicious. I have tried this place multiple times and I am unimpressed every single time. The burgers are like cow patties. Overcooked. The "frozen custurd" is just creamy soft serve Ice Cream. When the kids want to go there I get the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. Tastes like ripe socks but it keeps me alive. read more

The butterburgers are okay - I love the fried cheese curds! I tried the fried chicken and it was pretty good but the sides were really bland (green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy) so I don't really get it anymore since it is not worth the money to me versus getting a butterburger and cheese curds. I am not a fan of the concrete mixers - the custard doesn't taste very good to me and I don't like that it is so thick. read more

Culvers is a classic staple of the Chicago area for frozen treats. This location in particular is well visited by the older crowd in the area. Makes the whole place seem a little nervous re town-based than fast food. A good place to get what you crave! read more

3 stars, but 1 extra just for the YUM Caramel Cashew sundae! The burgers are better then any other "fast food" joint around chi and the burbs, and I rarely eat fast food burgers cause they're nasty. The fries are meh..nothing great. I am in love with their frozen custard flavor called Cherry Cheesecake. So good, but they only make it about once a month. Orders have been mostly right and corrected if needed without any issues. Portions and quality have been spot on. Speed of filling your order directly correlates to how busy they are. Inside has always been clean so when I have nowhere to be I go inside to eat. read more

This place is on my way home from work and very easy to stop at. Kept meaning to stop but never did. Yesterday they had a special day where I could get 25% off with my work ID. So I decided I am going to stop. I got the Mushroom Swiss double, fries, onion rings, and some custard. The burger was great - mushroom and swiss between the 2 burgers - wish the burger had additional toppings like tomato, lettuce, etc, but I realize it is similar to Kopp's and they don't do that either. I was pleased with it. Onion rings? They are a beer battered style - very good. As some know, I was obsessed with onion rings early in my pregnancy and I had planned to try Culver's but then had to stop eating fried foods. Sad, I know. So these are very good and I can definitely have more. Custard? I got a 2 scoop dish of chocolate/vanilla mainly for my 2 year old - very good. And...I got a pint of Turtle flavor. I really cant stand this place. Going there tonight really showed me why. Not only do I not like the food, but the staff there is utterly incompetent. The girl who took my husband's order looked at us the whole time like we were aliens. She was not very personable or friendly. The service is just horrible. There had to be about 6 people working and the girls there felt like they should spend more time fooling around and laughing and acting foolish over getting food ready. For a kids meal and a burger we waited at least 20 minutes. Then while they were just fooling around, the lobby area filled up with people wanting to order, but they paid no attention to these poor customers. just a horrible place with incompetent staff. The selection is great at this place. Their soups are homemade and always delicious. Their burgers are the best! The dinners aren't bad either. I have had the chicken and fish dinners. Never again, have just contacted corporate over this matter....young man on the counter cursed us numerous times with f bombs while the shift manager apparently heard nothing standing right next to him. Maybe she's intimidated by him? All we wanted was for someone to bag our food which had been sitting for a number of minutes while they took other orders and payments. When they opened they had great food for a couple years. I went to the one on algonquin in Mt Prospect IL. We ordered the chicken sandwich and it shrunk and dry I was disappointed. The staff really friendly and place was clean but food no so good. read more

Went through the drive thru on the evening of 4/19/2017 and placed an order. After receiving my order, I drove back around as I forgot to order an additional item. The voice on the speaker seemed extremely gloomy. A dreary "hi, what can I get for you?" I placed my order and was told "ok, drive up to the window". No thank you or total or anything. As I pulled up to the window, no one greeted me. I waited for a few minutes before the shift "manager", Jessica, came up and gave me the outstandingly large total of near $20 for just a small order. She handed me a tray of items I did not order. I gave them back and explained that I did not order that. Her response was "oh, I thought you wanted sundaes". After issuing me a refund, she gave me my bag and no receipt. I asked for a receipt. She asked if I wanted the refund receipt or the other one. I said both, I made a purchase, she messed up, I want both of my receipts. Not to mention this entire time the frozen custard was sitting out and was totally melted by the time I got it home less than 5 minutes later. She gave me both and noticed the Culver's bag sitting on the passengers seat from my earlier purchase. Upon seeing this bag she had the audacity to ask me what the bag was. I calmly explained that it is a earlier purchase less than 10 minutes ago. She said "oh, you bought that earlier? Ok." So now she not only asked me about another purchase but basically implied that I stole from them. I asked for her name and asked why she inquired about the other purchase. She stated that there are other cars behind me and wanted to make sure I didn't receive their order. So pretty much called me a thief again. I don't mean to sound mean but what are the requirements to be a shift "manager" nowadays? Are interviews even conducted? If so, are they conducted properly? And maybe this isn't Jessica's fault, maybe she was having a bad day, which, as a human being, you are allowed. Maybe her managers didn't train her to properly take care of customers? Maybe more training is necessary? Maybe her managers don't care? Maybe they do? All I know is that this isn't the first time I received poor service at this location and less than 10% of those who want to complain actually will. The counter staff was very friendly when I placed my order, but when I sat down at my table I wondered why they hadn't cleaned it better. They told me that if I order the combination chicken dinner it was already cooked and waiting but if I ordered all white that it would take another 20 minutes. I ordered the combo pieces. When my fried chicken dinner finally came 25 min. later, it was very disappointing. The half chicken had two white pieces and two dark which I expected but even the dark meat pieces were dry inside. All four pieces were very "hard" and overcooked. This meant no flavor whatsoever. The creamy style cole slaw was very tasty but only go to enjoy 4 tablespoons of it. Why skimp customers on the cole slaw? The potatoes were "ok" but the gravy was off. And even the diet Pepsi was flat! But a server walked through the restaurant, noticed me sitting alone and gave me a complimentary custard. I thought that was very nice even though someone probably got an order wrong. The friendliness of the staff is to be commended, but the friend chicken should be sent back to Wisconsin from where their chickens are raised. I'm taking time to write this review so people won't waste their hard earned money on overcooked Wisconsin chicken. read more
