Went to the local Culver's for our school fundraising drive, Wednesday Jan. 14. Looks like things got a little busy for them. This isn't like someone forgot the ketchup though. I just happened to be in the area after leaving a fitness center nearby, hungry, and in the mood to try something featured at Culver's. I have always had an interest in Culver's, but never had the urge to visit until I discovered the harvest veggie burger off of their website. This Culver's location sits along W Roosevelt Rd nearby a Jewel-Osco grocery store that I visit sporadically. And the parking lot itself is private and there are plenty of parking spots available. Upon walking in the door, I received a warm friendly greeting from two employees who were updating a bulletin board which was totally unexpected. While waiting in line, I had plenty of time to browse through the menu to see what gauged my interest other than the harvest veggie burger. After the customer ahead of me had ordered, the employee took my order, giving off a very unenthusiastic vibe in the process. As visited for, I ordered the harvest veggie burger along with a side of steamed broccoli, and a drink. I chose steamed broccoli in order to try something other than fries. And my order was completed within an acceptable timeframe as I waited for it in the dining area. Service: 4 (Good) I have to say that the relaxed environment, and the fact that I was hungry after my workout put me in the mindset to dine-in. The dining area itself appeared clean with a number of tables and seats available. And I must say that the atmosphere at this Culver's feels very comfortable in comparison to other fast-food restaurants in my opinion. Atmosphere: 5 (Great) As for my order, I felt that the harvest veggie burger could have used a little bit more mayonnaise but that is just me. Other than that, I did enjoy it. Next time I plan to order it with a side of either cheese curds, or crinkle cut fries because that steamed broccoli just did not contribute to me being satisfied at all. Food: 4 (Good) As for returning you bet I will, if I get the urge to try anything that caught my interest, like say uh, blackberry cobbler. Ooouuu, yes! I could not help but salivate after spotting the marquee advertisement of it upon driving out of the parking lot which may lead me back very soon. Service: 4 | Atmosphere: 5 | Food: 4 Recommendations: harvest veggie burger, grilled cheese, garden fresco salad, crinkle cut fries, cheese curds, onion rings, steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes & gravy, or garden salad. ~ Oh darling, let's be adventurers ~ Thomas G read more

The burger was a really good smash burger, nice crispy edges. Bacon was crispy just how I like it. It was a little greasy but that's expected for fast food. The fries were kind of bland, we didn't eat many of them. The floor was kind of sticky, and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest but also not terrible. The frozen custard was too melty for me, once it melts that much it looses its appeal. read more

My biggest complaint & really the only complaint is getting a soda at the drive up. Why don't the servers listen to what a customer wants? I asked for a riot beer, not a DIET root beer! Same goes with a Coke. I HATE diet sodas! They have a funny aftertaste. So if I actually buy a soda, I want a regular soda. I say regular & I get diet. Soda is so expensive. I should get what I order! Otherwise I'll stop purchasing it! read more

It's been over 20 years since I last went to Culver's. I remember the food always being delicious and then service being just as good. While breaking up my commute home from work, I decided to stop in for a bite one evening. I was immediately reminded of why I was a fan years ago. I forgot that the ground beef on the burgers were not like the patties at McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. The patties at Culver's are like what you get at gourmet burger shops. Love the crinkle fries and since Dairy Queen is a hard find in Metro Chicago, the malts and shakes are the next best for ice cream treats. Add to the prompt service without it being rushed and the return was a winner. I shall make an occasional stop by Culver's on my way home from work. read more

By far, it was the worst grilled chicken sandwich I've had anywhere. I know their specialties are Butterbugers and Custard, but I didn't want a hamburger. And I didn't want a fried sandwich. The patty was thick, but it was blonde in color. That should have been my first clue. I bit into it, and the center was ice cold. I almost lost it. I went back in, they remade it without hesitation, I asked to make sure it was well done, it STILL was crappy blonde, and the guy slapped it together as if he was mad. The Mustard was all over the outside of the box. Needless to say, I was pisssd. Too tired to deal with it, I just drove away. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I use to love Culver's the freshness of it all. Today I got a salad and the lettuce brown on the edges and I only found two tomatoes in the whole salad, it used to be to be one of my favorite salads, I couldn't even finish eating the salad because it was so nasty. What a waste of money, the prices have gone up and the food has gone down, I won't be back read more

Culver's is a place that I believe is very Midwest in origin. There are 2 things that you should get or intend to get coming here and those are their butter burgers and concrete custard. Both are very strongly dairy based and are what they do best. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 7/10 This is a nice bright location that seats a decent number of people. It likely seats 40+ people and there are a variety of seating choices. SERVICE : 8/10 Culver's gives me a 1960s diner-esque feel with the modernization of fast food. You come in, order and then you get a number where your food is brought to your table. This is what gives that old time small town vibe to me and I'm sure this is a part of the reason people enjoy Culver's. FOOD: 8/10 Of course, besides atmosphere, the most important thing in a restaurant is the food hands down. And Culver's most certainly delivers. The Original Butterburger - The classic single patty burger with lightly buttered buns that really keeps the buns and burger moist. The burger comes together well in your mouth with the buttered buns. The few complaints that I have are that the patties are a lot thinner than I expected and the burger presentation is kind of sub par. The taste is all there though. Cheddar Butterburger with Bacon - I think this one is my favorite of the butter burger options here. A stronger cheese with the crunch of bacon is probably the perfect burger. One of the best burgers available at a fast food chain in my opinion. Weaknesses are kind of the same. The presentation is lacking and the patties are on the thin side. Reese's and Oreo Concrete - Custom made for my tastes. Amazing. Frozen desserts come in several varieties from frozen yogurt to ice cream to custard. Culver's specializes in the thick and rich custard. And I must say outside of the health conscious calorie counters, custard beats out both ice cream and frozen yogurt for me. VALUE: 7/10 It's fast food essentially. I think the value is above average here for what you pay for. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 7/10 Definitely will return to Culver's when I get the craving. This isn't a place that I'd go to very often, but occasionally I will come back. TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Wroth trying the butter burger and concrete here. OVERALL: 7/10 read more

I am admittedly a recovering fast food addict. I mean, I am probably more of an all things food addict, but I seriously love French fries despite knowing they are commonly one fourth of my recommended daily caloric intake. I love fries so much I could eat fries twice a day. But I don't. Culver's is different in that it offers a lot more than fries. Yes, the crinkle cuts fries are delicious and are always piping hot. But Culver's butter burgers are also pretty darn special in their own right. And then there's the CUSTARD. I love their custard. I am impressed the various custard of the day options and absolutely love that you can purchase pints in their freezer to take the frozen love home with you. There are tons of pre packages pint flavors to choose from here and they are $2.50 on Tuesdays. This is quite the deal considering the cost of a scoop here ($2.39) or the price of custard at a boutique establishment. If you were inclined to stock up, there's a 4 pints for $9.99 deal with your name on it. If you can appreciate crinkle cut fries and custard, you have to stop in and give this place some love. You will be glad you did. read more

I never expect fast food to look like the pictures in the ad's. I do expect the items in a sandwich reflect what I ordered. Didn't taste the bacon or grilled onions in my first bite so I opened the sandwich to look. One slice of bacon cut into thirds of which 2 pieces were on my burger. The grilled onions had to have been 6 or so meager strands in a clump off-center. My wife's burger had lettuce and cheese which were not requested. Nine visible employees of which 4 were doing most of the work; only one register open with 4 people waiting in line. Food and management was much better in the past. read more

What an entirely terrible experience. I used to believe Culver's was a place that could consistently delivery a quality meal until today. Entirely disgusting that I was served this. My daughter's plain burger was even worse, it was like the literally scraped of 10 scrap pieces of ground beef and then threw it on a bun. Seriously, was someone nibbling on mine??? But the kicker was our order was placed at 10:16 AM, our order was given to us at 10:34 AM. We were the only car in the drive thru, the inside was not busy. It just genuinely seemed no one cared. As far as I am concerned, the food we were served proved that. We threw it away, beyond gross IMO, and we weren't convinced it was even safe to eat. read more

Really cute, bright, airy, and modern design of the dining area. I think this must be a new store, or at least newly renovated. Clean, spacious. Great energy. Lots of families and kids. Limited vegetarian options, but I don't fault this particular store. I think that might be a corporate issue. The staff are so friendly. I have eaten at this location several times over the course of six years. Sunday's meal was the first bad one. First, the cashiers are always nice and friendly. My order has only been wrong once. Secondly, it took longer than normal to receive the order. But I understand the staffing shortage and I was not in too much hurry (even though I had not eaten all day). Finally my good was served. When I first saw the burger it looked a little different. I checked that all the toppings were there. They were but they were skimpy especially the lettuce. The burger was okay but it just did not taste it's typical juicy self. Usually, a burger and fries fills me up for the rest of the day. Half way into eating my meal I knew I was going to need something else. It was a very disappointing meal. read more

Waited 20 minutes in the drive thru for a burger and a concrete mixer. They bring me the burger and forget the ice cream. I ask about the ice cream. Turns out they didn't forget to make it, just forgot to bring it out to me. They bring out this melted soupy ice cream that clearly sat on a counter for like 10 minutes. Bonus points, they didn't put the lid on all the way, so ice cream dripped down the side of the container, stained my shirt and got all over my car. Thanks guys. read more

Entire crew was amazing and helpful. Such great customer service! Food was delicious and fresh! Will definitely be back!

First of all, I only wish I had taken pictures of the sandwich that Culvers gave us. We mistakenly ordered the Cod Basket and that is what we received. But what we really wanted was the Cod Dinner. So that was our mistake, but aside from placing the wrong order the sandwich they gave us was over cooked, crisp and was a half hollow piece of fish. Certainly not the Culvers quality I'm accustomed to. We didn't realize how bad the sandwich was until we got home and opened the box. It was not what we expected. I then returned the sandwich and spoke with the cashier who then engaged the manager. I explained to him that we made a mistake and he apologized and gave us the meal we wanted by subtracting the difference of the Cod basket and the Cod dinner. At this point I was satisfied. I then went back home and opened up the Cod dinner they had sold me and the fish was dark brown along with the onion rings. It was quite obvious the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed in a few days. We could hardly eat the fish because it tasted like burnt oil. This was the absolutely worse tasting food from Culvers I have ever had. You've been warned. read more

My experience at this Culver's was nothing less than total disrespect tonight. I have never been to a Culver's where their employees behaved in the manner displayed tonight. What started as a simple order turned out to be too complicated for the girl at the drive up. I asked for marinara sauce for my cheese curds and extra onion on my burger. When I got to the window, I said it again. She didn't acknowledge me and surely didn't care. She preceded to take my payment and closed the window on me with no directions. I assumed she wanted me to pull up so I made my own decision to do so. When my food was brought out and I checked the bag..sure enough no marinara sauce. I pulled back around and asked for it again and told her I had already asked several times. She gives me attitude as if I'am somehow inconveniencing her, didn't acknowledge the error or apologize. Who trained her? Where is the basic customer service or courtesy because she had zero! I get home look at my burger which is not In the box it normally is but wrapped in flimsy paper that the burger is falling out of. I called to speak with the manager and a young man who claimed he was the manager gets on the phone and says his name is Zack, and continuously repeats rudely, how can I help you, how can I help you. Due to his disposition from the start I could tell he was not mature enough to even voice my complainant to so I asked for his manager. All he could give me was the name Byron, no phone number. I asked for an email which he gave me culversofchicagobronzeville@gmail.com. I asked him for the girls name at the drive up and he said he couldn't give me her name. As a Manager I am completely disappointed. They need to be coached up or out either way, I will not be visiting this Culver's again. read more
