01/10/20 - Late Saturday night I was craving a fish taco. I was on Yelp and found Brasas @ 6011 W Roosevelt in Berwyn had what I was looking for. The restaurant is very small. I ordered a fish taco dinner w/beans & rice. The fish tacos came cabbage, avocado, cilantro, tomatoes all on 2 corn tortillas. The fish tacos had fresh cut crispy cabbage that gave the taco a nice crunch. I added a red salsa on top and a excellent wala a perfect taco (I will be back for more fish tacos)

Absolutely one of the best sandwiches that we've ever had. Ranks right up there in the top 3 for sure! My brother has been telling us about Brasas for a couple of years and this time we finally stopped. Now we can't wait to go back! One of the best things Chicago is there are these little hole in the wall places that have excellent food. This place reminds us of the Depot. Another little hole in the wall on Roosevelt but the chef came from the 95th. My brother said the tortas are the thing to get here. Although he also said breakfast is pretty good. So tortas it was. Two of us ordered the chicken Milanese and one carne asada. When these are served it looks like a mini loaf of french bread. They are huge. The bread one of the most important components to any sandwich was soft and pillowy. The milanese was crispy and not overdone. The carne asada was juicy and flavorful. The tortas come with lettuce and tomato. I finished mine first and started eyeing my wife who gave me the touch mine and sleep on the couch for the next month look. I could have and wanted to eat more but then again there is always next time. And maybe breakfast too. These tortas were outstanding!

    3 Taco Dinner!!

New to the Berwyn area and wanted to try out the lock restaurants. Brasas yelp reviews are great and I had to try out their food myself. I ordered the 3 taco dinner with beans and rice. 2 steak and 1 pork with everything. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa. The meal was delicious. I enjoyed my tacos and was happy that their meat was seasoned and tender. Rice and beans were good and basic. The chips are fresh. The only thing I dislike is there salsa for the chips. The salsa was not Pico de gallo. I recommend and will be returning to try something new. SN: They were only accepting call in orders and pick ups as of 06/05/2020

This place is legit the best Mexican food in the area. Everything is incredibly fresh tasting and delicious. Never had a bad meal here. I recommend the shrimp fajita burrito. Bomb chronic.

Rosa J. relies on CTA to get around the city, so she pays attention to detail on places she passes by frequently using her staple routes: #85 (Central) or #91 (Austin). "Brasas" is near the southwest corner of Austin and Roosevelt (the Cicero side). It's principally a take-out joint, with four (4) small tables. Our Mexican neighbors had a fun party last night, and this morning I overheard their conversation about "desayunos." Hubby and I thought about heading down south side to Little Village to get some carne en su jugo, but we were afraid that the restaurants would be super busy, filled with the after-church crowd. There was no wait time at "Brasas," and they really have an excellent fish taco. If you're one of these people who are looking for a mega large-portioned Mexican feast, you won't get it here yet you will leave the restaurant comfortably full and satisfied. I'm definitely coming back for more of these fish tacos. It appears to be family-owned, and they treated us kindly the entire time. There are too many hole-in-the-wall (or at least semi hole-in-the-wall) Mexican places in the neighborhoods of Chicago or in the suburbs. Whenever I take CTA #91 southbound, I'm taking Brasas' tacos de pescado home!

    Lunch in Berwyn.

I was with my daughter for the day, and it was lunch time. I pulled up Yelp to look for Mexican food nearby and Brasas came up. If you were driving about in Chicagoland you could miss this tiny place, but you'll never forget the hospitality or the food. EVERYTHING is fresh and cooked to order. Our hostess took our order and a few others as well as phone orders while we were there. There are only a few small tables, so we decided to eat there. China plates, WOW. My daughter ordered up her taco fav and I ordered up a chicken burrito. We've eaten elsewhere, but I have to say that fresh and to order makes a great difference. She brought red and green chili sauce bottles to our table and asked if there was anything else that we would need. We were impressed by the meal and service. My daughter said she's probably going to do some take home from there as it's close to where she works. OH the price was great as well as the meal. If you're in Berwyn, or nearby here's another great place to go.

I really wanted to wait to review this place because I'd heard the service was curt & not so pleasant. So I wanted to visit a few times, butttttt I decided to give them a pass because my visit was nice. I was greeted with smiles. I ordered 3 steak tacos w/everything which is cilantro/onions/lettuce/tomatoes. I got it to go, but smashed it in the car. The food was fresh. The meat was grade A. I've found a new taco joint that's not far from my home. Yayyyyyyy Now if I go back & the attitudes suck, y'all know I'll update the review!

Meat all around - say WHAT?!?!

Wow. Just...WOW. Ordered their Torta Steak Milanesa on the way back to the burbs. That was the longest drive ever since I had to wait for my order. So, in other words, it was nice and hot and the smell in the car made my mouth water. Needless to stay, I didn't even take my coat off and went straight to the kitchen for a plate. Wrapped in foil, shaped like half a deflated football, it was heavy. Upon opening, I could see the steak hanging out of the bread, all around. First bite was magnificent, with the crunch of the well-seasoned breading. Steak was tasty and the bread to meat ratio was spot on! The bollilo roll was toasted with butter just righ, but still soft. The creamy avocado was a nice contrast to the crunch. This place is small but mighty with what they're serving! Make an effort and find this place because you deserve amazing eats!

Fairly priced food. With a unique menu. Everything was made perfectly. Bacon made just right. Definitly will visit this spot again. Even though staff was short food still was served at a prompt time.

Thumbs up I ate my food too fast but great steak

Today, our experience was less than stellar. I always select "no green pepper" because I'm not a big fan of them. This time was no different, but when I opened my box, my sandwich was overflowing with green peppers. When I called to report the error, the girl who answered the phone was clearly annoyed by my call, and told me "my cook says he didn't put green peppers in." I was a bit put off by this, but instead of trying to argue about whether or not there were green peppers in my food, I asked if they could just send me a new sandwich, and was told to go through Grubhub. I assume this is policy, which is fine, but then she hung up on me before I could say anything else. So I go back through the app and reorder, again selecting "no green pepper." I called to confirm that my sandwich would NOT have green pepper, and to say that my call was not well-received would be an understatement. I say I'm just trying to make sure the peppers are not on there this time. She goes "yep, no green pepper," and then hangs up before I can say anything else. We are considering looking for a new cheesesteak place, or finding a recipe to make them at home. See attached photo of a sandwich that the cook declared to be free of green peppers.
