Awesome little restaurant on Roosevelt Road in Berwyn. It is our go to for a quick meal out. Absolutely delicious.

Everything was amazing! We tried carnitas, quesadillas, beans rice, chips and pico de Gallo.

This is my new go-to spot if I'm looking for Mexican take-out. Originally this was going to be a 3-star review, but I gave it a second try and got to try more of their menu. I do think that the seasoning on the food is just a little light-handed, but otherwise I have no complaints. It's very classic Mexican food for a very affordable price and wait. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly greeting us as we came in and were leaving. Pozole: Delicious but only available on weekends. It's very hearty, and the to-go size is enough for 3-4 bowls. The meat inside is incredibly melt-in-your-mouth tender. Tacos: You can't go wrong with any of the fillings. The red sauce that they provide is very delicious and has just the right amount of spice to it. It complements the tacos very well. Torta: I swear, the torta I ordered from here must have been the largest torta I have ever seen in my life. It can easily fill 2 people up. read more

I live in an area which is highly saturated with Mexican Restaurants and after 2 years I still haven't found "my spot". Quantity definitely doesn't equate quality. I used yelp to see if I could find a better spot I hadn't already tried and based off of the reviews decided to give this place a try. I have a large family so we get to try several things at once. My older son had the Al Pastor tacos. My husband and I had carne asada tortas and my daughter and 2 younger boys had tacos de carne asada. Have to admit, I wasn't disappointed. The food was delicious! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because my eldest likes his Al Pastro a little more juicy, honestly I thought it was good after he let me have a bite. I'm ready do go make and. Give more of their food a try. Side note though, the space is extremely small with only 3 bar stool type tables, be prepared to carry out. read more

Totally bummed to no longer recommend this place. It's my corner spot with in walking distance. I've been coming to and sending people here for more than 10 years. Covid destroyed lots of restaurants and the neighbors really helped keep this one going but the food has really suffered even as the prices here have climbed. You no longer get a quality meal. For instance i paid $40 including tip for 2 four taco dinners. A simple order of 4 bistecca and 4 pollo onion and cilantro. I received 7 steak. Normally that's cool but i don't eat steak anymore. They were very nice and offered to fix the meal if i brought it back. I don't have the patience to keep supporting this restaurant. The ingredients are low quality the meat portions are a sliver of what they were. The flavor is gone. Idk who the chef is now but either way I do not recommend this place. I'll check back in in about 6 months hopefully the food will improve so i can upgrade my view read more

It's a hole in the wall but it gives you all the Mexican experience. We loved it! Stopped by as the reviews on yelp were so good and we were not disappointed! We love tacos so we ordered Al pastor taco and chile rellano taco plus a serving of beans. It came with homemade tortillas chips - simply delicious! We had guacamole with our first order. When I ordered the second time to go, I still got the homemade tortilla chips! Thanks! They were delicious! It is a very friendly place! I have never been so disappointed. I ordered through the phone for pick up and the lady on the phone repeated my order correctly. HOWEVER -- once I got there, they didn't make one of my orders and the torta de pollo was so dry and plain! There were no toppings on it other than the chicken and some lettuce. Yesterday I went into grab food with my mom. We have been here several times in the past and usually enjoy their food. I hadn't been there in months. We ordered steak nachos, steak tacos and the Tex mex burger. I got home and we didn't get any salsa or anything. So I call the restaurant and go back the young lady who took the order apologized. Now I get back home and of course the food is cold. The nachos looked thrown together. There was hardly any steak and no cheese. The chips were stale. I felt like I wasted $11.00 on this meal. It was disappointing, the tacos weren't very good. The only thing that was good was the burger and they barely gave us fries with the burger. I'm not sure if it was a different cook. After the Mexican restuarant by my job closed down abruptly, I had to find a place to take care of my burrito addiction. So after searching yelp, I found Brasas. Now it's not a fancy restaurant, it's actually really small but the staff is so friendly and bilingual (just in case you don't speak Spanish). I ordered my carne asada burrito with all the trimmings and it was so good and reasonably priced. I did find the steak a little salty but not too the point that it overpowers. Spectacular Mexican food, but the best part is that after 20 years of searching I finally found a chimichanga that meets my wife's standards. I used to love this place but the service has declined drastically since their old cashier is no longer working there. The current cashier (as of 10/2/2017) has the nastiest attitude. This is my second encounter with her and on this day I decided to leave. Another con is their prices are constantly increasing or fluctuating and they're not vegetarian friendly... they have vegetarian options but always charge me more. This place is such a find. Just off the corner of Austin and Roosevelt, it's a small, friendly place that serves up delicious tacos. As you would expect from their name, Brasas, they have terrific grilled meats. I've been there twice now and have tried tacos with asada (steak), pollo (chicken), pastor (marinated pork), and lengua (beef tongue). All were delicious. The chicken is grilled and a little spicy. The steak is tasty and not too salty, which is how I prefer it.. And I really like the al pastor and lengua. It's a small, clean place with just a few tables, and lots of people order take-out. The prices are super reasonable. I plan to return to try their tortas and dinner plates! It's located in Cicero, and if you cross the street you're in Oak Park. A few steps in one direction and you're in Chicago, a few blocks west and you're in Berwyn. So it's definitely easy to get to. read more

I was a little skeptical about this restaurant because it's new and in a location where you wouldn't think there's a restaurant. It's a small place but when you go inside, you can see that it's clean and nicely organized. They have a tv, which I didn't expect . First, I thought the price was a bit above average in price, but when you see the food and the quantity and quality, you will not think that it's above average in price. It's very much worth it and it's a great price! I'm going to try more of their menu. I ordered the Torta de asada, a Tex-Mex burger( which is weird for a Mexican restaurant but), which was so good! Wow wow wow!!! This place is ridiculous! The large horchata alone is enough to feed a family of four. Me, my husband, our baby and my dad came here as a last stop in Chicago and we all were SO glad we did. We got a bit of everything and shared around. Mexican cheeseburger, beef quesadilla, and four types of tacos: pastor, chile relleno, barbacoa and fish. While everything was delicious, the fish taco and Mexican cheeseburger blew our minds. We were not prepared for that level of deliciousness!!!! In fact, my dad said while everything was wonderful, he almost regretted not just getting three of the cheeseburgers haha. But seriously, you can't go wrong here. It's a very tiny hole in the wall. We were lucky enough to be able to get a table (there are only 3 of them). But this was seriously one of the top stops of the whole 10 day vacation. I'm just sorry we didn't find it earlier!! read more

Today tried Mexican Cheeseburger after working my way through the taco, burrito and torta part of the menu. It was great! I asked the guy for extra peppers and he chuckled! I said 'I like it hot!' (which I do) It was big; served with fries which where just okay. With Avocado, onion, cheese and hot peppers! Going to have the last half for din. Good charbroiled flavor too. Don't forget extra napkins, as I found it very messy to eat, but well worth it :) I haven't had anything bad there. Great food, good service. A true 5 star gem! read more
