My co- workers & I tried out this restaurant for lunch. We walked in near 12:45pm, the restaurant had 1 person seated dining alone. The restaurant was empty. We were seated & given menus. The waitress asked us about drinks but did no suggested selling of anything, did not mention lunch specials or enlighten us about the many flavors, sizes of margaritas. They brought out chips & salsa for the table & we ordered a side of guacamole. It was made table side by was very bland. It lacked flavor & was underwhelming. It needed salt & more lime juice. Another waitress approached our table to take our meal orders. She was quiet, spoke very little English & couldn't answer any specific questions about the menu. Our drinks arrived. they were good but nothing spectacular. 2 members of our party, ordered tacos & 2 ordered chimichangas When our food arrived, we dug right in. My Chimichanga was dressed up nice from the outside but the minute I bit into it, EEE YUCK!!!!The filling inside lacked flavor & meat tasted like rubber. It was filled with pureed refried beans. The beans were overly pureed & running out the burrito. None of the ingredients binded together. The consistency of beans to meat ratio was not well balanced for the filling thus making the dish terrible. I also noticed a huge amount of oil/grease soaked into the shell, which made it impossible to enjoy any further. The chimichangas were overall, made poorly & were disgusting!!!!. There was too much oil, indicating the grease was not drained from the burrito after frying & the filling's consistency was off. The consensus amongst my entire party of 6, was that the steak meat in all of our dishes was over cooked, very tough, hard to chew & was not seasoned. The bill came with so many add on charges that we had to inquire about. The waitress need to inform guests that chips n salsa is not complimentary after 1 basket, specific flavors of margaritas cost different prices & "suiza" (cheese) on dishes is an additional fee. Most sauces (sour cream) usually accompanies your meal. It should not be an additional charge for those. The bill was altered, finalized & paid after discussing the many add ons that were not mentioned up front with the waitress. In closing, this place does not meet the mark for Mexican cuisine. The chips n salsa & margarita was ok but the food was bland & overcooked! No reason to return to Margaritas ever again. read more

Margaritas is one of my family favorite restaurants we frequently visit. I've been there multiple times and each time I'm always greeted by sweet servers and really delicious food accompanied by accurate orders each time which is as you can imagine of utmost importance when it comes to enjoying the place you choose to eat at. The ambiance of the restaurant is extremely inviting and the aesthetics are very appealing to me personally. We order from here frequently and have eaten in several times. The food is always quite tasty and a good value for the money. I have little children. When we've gone in to eat, they've always accommodated us and have been very nice to our children. The food is delicious, the prices are right and the staff actually seem happy. Today, I drove by and saw one of the servers dancing in the window for either the friend or family member that had just pulled up. Not bad... I really love Mexican food. flavors are pretty simple... So I really look the amount of heat in the food and the presentation of the plate. So we started off with chicken soup. I am a chicken soup connoisseur. I would definitely give them five stars. As simple as chicken soup is, I've seen many restaurants mess it up either too much chicken base or Noodle to mushy and one place I went actually put oregano in it imagine that ..but this actually tastes it like chicken not like chicken base . We started off with the botana appetizer plate which consisted of quesadilla with krakus ham, pork tamales chicken flautas that were a little overcooked and tortilla chips with beans, pico de gallo and sour cream and cheese.. then chicken enchiladas which were very good. Just enough heat and not soggy. My friend ordered the steak taco plate,no complaints there.... That brings me to one of my favorite side dishes which is Mexican rice and I have to say I would give them five stars on that also with a little heat and perfect texture and flavor. It's really amazing how different each Mexican place makes rice..... I really wish they would have had chicken tamales knowing it it is a complex dish to make very labor intense. I can understand why there was only pork... But overall I was very satisfied. The service was good and the ambiance was very cultural. Would I go back? Probably ..not a fan of the parking though.. I ordered an online order and only half my order was delivered which ruined my date night and caused me to have to go to the food store to complete my order for my date. I paid a tip based on the total order. They only refunded me for the cost of the one item. They did not consider how the whole order was ruined and how I paid extra for items not delivered. Mango margarita was amazing as were the steak fajitas! My nephew cleaned his plate of beef tacos and rice. Our experience was fantastic -- the wait staff were especially attentive, kind, and helpful! My friend and I came here this past Saturday 11/24 to have dinner. I found a park right away! Plenty of street parking but it can get pretty tight. I got there around 7pm was promptly seated. It was a nice crowd there only a few open spots. Complementary chips and salsa and our waters came right out. We were greeted by our waitress whose name was Yolanda!! She was great!! Very nice and attentive. I had two peach margaritas on the rocks that had me litttttt!! We had the queso dip with chorizo for starters. It came with three salsas. Delicious!! Then I ordered the Tampiquena with a steak enchilada with mole. Very good! My meat did have a light husk to it. Maybe it was refrigerated then frozen then defrosted again. I don't know but my meal Was still delicious. I did however take a star off because of the husky meat. (I also was so on my level I forgot to take a picture of my Tampiquena!!) lolll!! Taco Tuesday. I came here after work to grab me a $6.00 Margarita and order me some food. My first time dining here at Margaritas. The whole staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. Nice comfortable atmosphere. I enjoyed the music that was being played throughout the dining area. Nice size area to come and dine with your family or even enjoy a nice window seat for one or two. My server Beto was amazing. I had to run to the ladies room and when I made it back to my table there was a bowl of nachos and salsa. When he noticed I was back at the table.. He came over with a nice bowl of hot chicken soup. I'm a very picky eater but this soup was tasty and delicious. I placed my order and was ready to grub down on my food. I ordered the chicken taco dinner with rice and beans & A frozen Raspberry Margarita. It didn't take long for my food and drink to arrive. My Goodness what a pure joy it was to have some good food. The food had lots of flavor and delicious. My Raspberry Margarita was just right not too strong or fruity tasting. The paintings on the wall were nice. Friendly and warm environment. I heard they have a lunch buffet. It's a must I come back to try more things on the menu. The prices are reasonable and well worth the money. There is parking right in front with meter parking for like .25 but after 6PM parking is FREE. Not Expensive like the city. APTLY NAMED There's truth in advertising at this great Mexican restaurant in Oak Park. Also, tableside guac! I'd been to Margaritas once or twice before, but not recently. It was after a long day that I decided Nichole C and I were in dire need of some tequila lovin' and had dinner here on 12/20/17. After parking on a nearby side street, we walked in and were quickly seated. They had some lovely holiday decorations strung up which made for a very festive, very enjoyable atmosphere :) kudos to them! Not missing a beat, I ordered us a pitcher of blue margaritas on the rocks ($31) which was their house 'rita amped up with blue curaçao, adding another layer of boozy wonderment to an already heavy drink. Ours was STRONG and had us both going "oh holy f*ck who's gonna drive home?!?!" With a name like 'Margaritas', you'd hope their variety would be top notch, and you'd be right. Their terrific selection includes guava, cherry, strawberry, and a few others as well as the option of frozen or on-the-rocks (I prefer frozen, but I was a gentleman and let the gf choose). Complimentary chips & salsa is something this place does well; the house salsa is yummy and has a delightful kick to it. We got tableside guacamole which is prepared right in front of you with fresh avocados, pico de gallo, and squeezed lime. Though it wasn't as mind-blowing as Burrito Parilla Mexicana's, the guac was still very, very tasty. We appreciated the bowl of 'pozole' which is a traditional soup served at some -- but not all -- good Mexican restaurants, made with chicken, elbow macaroni, potato cubes, and carrots in a lovely red broth. Timing for entrées by the waitstaff was ideal. My carne asada enchiladas suizas ($15) came topped with a green sauce and served with refried beans and rice. The steak quality was terrific and the value was decent for what you got. Nichole's chile rellenos ($16) were just as delicious; the 100% Latin beauty gave it two thumbs up. Their flan ($6) was more gelatinous than custard, but it came with a fun little cup of vanilla brandy sauce on the side. I enjoyed the smooth texture of it, though Nichole felt that it lacked flavor and found it closer in consistency to a 'crème caramel'. Bread = 5 Circuses = 4.5 Our server was attentive and we never experienced any issues during our meal. The Aztec motif they have going on suits them well and the painted tiles/wall murals are eye-catching. * TL;DR * All things considered, I'd give Margaritas low marks for originality......but exemplary marks in just about every other category. Fantastic, flavorful and robust 'ritas do justice to their namesake. The food is top notch and the freebies (chips + salsa, soup) are marvelous. Service is solid and the amazing ambiance changes according to whatever calendar holiday is next. OH SNAP!! I almost forgot to mention: a Yelp check-in offer gets you a **free** appetizer if you buy a dinner. So that awesome tableside guacamole came right off the final bill, no charge. Hell yeah. I live fairly close to Margaritas. Within walking distance. I've been to this restaurant a few times since moving to Oak Park. Margaritas is generally crowded. It is a large restaurant with a lot of seating that can accommodate groups. It is inexpensive. The food and drinks are standard for what you would expect in a Mexican restaurant. It's Americanized food so you are going to get margaritas (both frozen and on the rocks), burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. the service is always fast and friendly. It's an average restaurant along the lines of what chi chis restaurants used to be. One benefit is location, it's right off the Oak Park Blue line stop and there is plenty of street parking outside, even on the busiest of nights. read more

We came for Margaritas and a dessert and probably wouldn't go back... It was very moist in there, yes humid. It was strange because the air seemed to be blowing based on the streamers hanging from the vents, but it was very uncomfortable. They have a lunchtime buffet that's only $10 or around there, which sounds good! Don't know that we'd come back to it. Service was okay, nothing to call home about. We ordered the fried ice cream, and I've never had it before, but the crust seemed soggy, again it was okay, we still ate it. For Oak Park, I expected it to be nicer in there, but it seemed a little divey. read more

Margaritas shares the street with other businesses including a restaurant, boutique, flower shop, the cleaners and a grocery store. After I was seated the waiter takes my order, then brings out a small bowl of chicken noodle soup which was sooo good! It jad a small piece of zucchini and carrots which only enhanced the flavors. I ordered the burrito dinner. The burrito is huge, my choice of meat (chicken) was well seasoned and moist. It was also topped with guacamole and sour cream over a bed of melted cheese. I ordered guacamole for an appetizer due to the free appetizer you receive for checking in the first time. Its made fresh in front of you and offers such a side of goodness. My only complaint is that while I would order the burrito again, I would order it with the lettuce on the side as opposed to inside which is how it came. Other than that, this place is a winner.
