Came to eat with the family and ordered the Carne Asada which is listed in the menu for $16.50. Surprisingly when I got my check the dish the price was $23. When I asked about the price difference server pointed out the fine print on the menu. I get meat prices are changing but a heads up of $6.5 chance would be nice. I recently reviewed a place where the price:satisfaction ratio was severely lacking. Thank goodness for places like La Justicia to remind you that places exist where you will get what you pay for and so much more. Just WOW, this place is all sorts of awesome. The interior decor is stunning and perfectly matches the surrounding neighborhoods of Little Village and Pilsen. Bold, bright and all around beautiful. Even more beautiful? The outstanding food and lovely service. I'm not from Mexico but this place would seem to be as authentic as you would find on those streets. Before you even order you are served ice water w lime wedge, cup of soup and chips + 2 homemade salsas by some of the sweetest servers ever. The masa from the sope was honestly perfection. Texture and taste beyond 5/5. The pastor was excellent and had seasonings that you would expect from chorizo, all good. Steak tacos replicating the perfection of the Sope. Bold char grilled steak flavor with all that crispy goodness ...fresh onion and cilantro simple garnish. More 5/5. A substantial frozen Strawberry Margarita. Delightful. Even more delightful? I often times find myself telling friends that if you really want good Mexican food.....Go where the Mexicans go! I am Mexican (my BF is not) thus, I can be critical of "Mexican" food in other areas outside of places like Little village, Pilsen and the likes. I had the opportunity to dine here on Cinco de Mayo in 2011 of all days. After using Yelp to review many of the restaurants in the area, I felt this one fit the bill. I was looking for place that served alcohol and had everything from tacos, tamales, seafood, red meat, beans and rice and some tasty alcoholic beverages. Parking was on street and easy to find. The decor is old school Mexican, I thought it was fun and very comfortable. We were seated right away and the chips and two types of salsa came right away and then we studied the menu while the basket of chips dwindled. I ordered the combo entree, that consisted of a taco (lengua), tostada (beef) and enchilada (cheese). You get to pick what you want in each. It includes rice, beans and a small salad on the plate. The BF ordered the Carne Asada (a nice thick piece of meat) with sliced potatoes and rice. He ordered up 2 Margaritas of which he thought were very tasty and potent. As we waited for our food to come, we were pleasantly surprised to get a small bowl of chicken soup. We didn't complain and ate it right up. The food was served up shortly after. Everything was very good and flavorful. The salsa's were good so we ordered more and another basket full of chips. We were stuffed when we left. The dinner tab with drinks was very reasonable. We briefly talked to the owner before we left. Very nice guy. We drove back to the South Loop and the BF went into a food coma 20 min. later. Now that's good eating! Okay, let me start by saying I lived across the street during my student teaching experience in Little Village. No money, no car, and constantly stressed. La Justicia was my light at the end of my tunnel- even Tuesday was "scrape together enough nickels and dimes 'cause it's Taco Tuesday!" Their tacos de carne asada are fantastic! They also have $1 tamales that will MAKE your day. Even though I no longer live across the street, I've returned for dinners out with friends. Chips and salsas came out and both the verde and the cacahuate were SO hot they made me cry (and I like spicy food and eat it all the time!) The margaritas are cheap, big, and strong, but the flavor was lackluster. Not a great start to the meal. But then. My food. My dinner. It was just so good. The rice and beans were DELICIOUS. My carne asade was tender and juicy. The cheese enchilada was a treat. Horchata to wash it all down and my faith in La Justicia remains in tact :) read more

All I can say is wow. My boyfriend called in to have an order placed for delivery...he ordered 2 entrees and a michelada. An hour and a 20 mins later there is no status update or no call from restaurant. So we call the restaurant and the delivery man is still at the restaurant..no problem we just assume they are busy. 30 mins later and nothing. Finally we call the restaurant back and they say the delivery driver is in front. Now here is the crazy part the delivery driver WALKED to deliver the food...the food was upside down..sweated...the drink was spilled out in the bag with ice melted...and one of the entrees was not EVEN th right order. I mean c'mon it was almost a two hour ordeal to not even be able to eat. Worst experience ever. Do not order delivery unless u want to wait 2 hours for a wrong order. Please don't advertise that you have delivery if you do not. read more

My family likes chicken fajitas from here. So, wanted to order for catering. Granted I only called a day in advance, but they said they would call back with price. They never did and would no longer take my order. I am not upset they did not take my order as I understand it can get busy but they should have let me know they would not be able to take my order since the beginning. It was New Years' Day, my sidekick in burritoing Danger Mike + I were sad to see that our usual spot (Lindo Michoacan) was closed as we pulled up towards Lawrence + Kedzie. Starving + in need of the gut-filling goodness of a burrito, we decided to go straight to the source: 26th St. Surely something would be open on the first day of the new year, in Little Village. I prefer Little Village come summertime ...The street vendors are out, the sidewalks full + music streaming from various storefronts. Somehow amongst last summer's festivities, we had overlooked La Justicia on our burrito hunts. It took the cold + low-blood sugar to finally happen upon this restaurant (which has a large mural painted on it's side). Meter parking off of S. Springfield, we walked in + were quickly given a choice where to sit. The space is of decent size, not a hole in the wall but cozy with colorful decorations, a large neon-lit digital jukebox, brick walls + vintage "WANTED" posters of Pancho Villa. There were also two standard sized television sets mounted in the corners tuned to Telemundo. We sat at our clean/comfortable booth table as our complimentary chips(store bought but warmed w/ a good crunch + little salt) + salsa arrived (three tins: green, red + pickled w/ whole cloves of garlic: delicious). I ordered my usual: burrito vegetariano, no crema/no queso w/ avocado, large horchata. Danger ordered the carne asada (steak burrito) w/ everything + a carrot/orange juice blend. Ok, so I never took Spanish I. I can order my burrito, show proper courtesies + even ask you if Maria is home but beyond that it's a game of guess + check. While we waited for our food + Danger browsed the latest Lawndale newspaper, I took to watching Telemundo, making sure to laugh when the waitresses did + show concern when I saw reports of fire or flooding. This seemed to go over well. I was totally in. Our food arrived w/out much wait + I started in on my first meal of 09. I'm spoiled at Lindo Michoacan w/ all the veggies packed into their burrito so I had high hopes for La Justicia. Standard veg. burrito fare: beans, rice (heavy), shredded lettuce (bring dental floss), tomato, onion (raw), a mushy slice of avocado with a few leaves of cilantro. Everything was fresh + the salsa choices added a kick. I took to chopping up a few garlic cloves + adding them into my burrito. Danger finished his burrito in record time + seemed quite happy with it. He decided that La Justicia would be our plan B for when plan A is closed. I agreed mostly due to my carb coma + trying to keep up with my Telemundo watching/laughing. Note: Our waitress was nice + regularly checked in to see if we needed anything. Overall, we left satisfied (and very full). I wasn't wowed but I wasn't disappointed in the least. Both meals + beverages came in under $20. We ordered two Mexican cinnamon coffees (they do offer regular coffee too) to go (they were elaborately packed w/ cream + sugar ...We both take black but it was a nice gesture). Not a bad way to start a new year. Note: La Justicia is not 24 hrs. but open late weeknights + 3AM Friday. They do offer breakfast/lunch/dinner + delivery/pick-up. read more

The food is delicious because it is authentic Mexican a combination of great breakfast mexican style, lunch delicious too like gorditas, burritos, sopes, & tacos. Best mexican I've had in the USA. I went with my fiance (mexican who moved here a few years ago) for the World Cup game (yes, this is a late review), and we loved it! It's the first place in USA I've been to where the enchiladas were actually like those in MX! We were so excited that we ordered something of everything and couldn't finish it. Since it was World Cup season then (yes, I know this is late!), the restaurant was full of Mexicans in their colors cheering on tehir team, and then leaving in heartbreak (it was the game where they got eliminated by Argentina). This restaurant looks the way you want an authentic Mexican restaurant to look. The service is really good aswell. The food that I had was tasteless. Everyone elses food looked good. Only my mother in-law and I didn't really enjoy our food. We are also the two with the most experience in the kitchen. I had been here before about 20 years ago so I couldn't remember what I liked. They handed me a menu that was an actual book. 4 pages on the menu. It was depressing looking at it. I thought I would choose something they couldn't cook wrong. I was wrong. I have a fish taco , a beef tongue taco and a chicharron taco. The fish taco had lettuce and tomato, it needed a good sauce and they didn't have one. The other 2 tacos came plain. No onion or cilantro. I had to ask for it after I got my tacos. Both needed flavor. Very blah. But the can of coke was on point. Maybe if there's a next time ill take my reading glasses so I can open up that book. read more

I was at this Mexican restaurant over weekend I ordered the tamales chicken and pork they were excellent. the waitress took my order right away. I order a Mexican soda to water down this good authentic food. I still felt hunger so I order handmade quesadilla in red pork sauce taste was excellent, a little big I only half took the rest home. Street parking only. I felt relaxed here and I listen to the Mexican music while waiting for my food. The food was perfectly fine--nice and spicy, and the leftovers are going to last me for days--but I'm primarily reviewing the service, organization, and attitude. I stopped in here, starving and carrying a large canvas bag full of junk-store finds, for the first time yesterday evening, just after the Village Thrift at 26th and Pulaski chased me and its other customers out and closed for the day. I had completely forgotten about the Superbowl, which had just started, and I walked into a Superbowl party that was also just starting--almost a full house, TVs blasting everywhere, waitresses in Bears teeshirts. I think I was the only Anglo in the place as well as the only idiot to have spaced out about the ballgame. The waitress quickly found me a cozy window table away from the main noise, and was amazingly attentive (though not hovering), considering that I was not really part of the action and was reading a book, and that she had lots of tables full of people who had been there before me and who were there for a party. Really, I was treated as if strangers were angels in disguise, or maybe like I had strayed into some ancient Greek landscape where hospitality was a sacred trust. I will definitely be back. AND there's a bus stop right in front of the place. What more do you want? read more

I have ordered there a couple of times and I thought maybe this time it would be diffrent but nope , I ordered my lunch abut 11:05 am they said 25-30 min. I show up at 11:40 am and it still was't ready . The service is horrible the prices are high for this area, and they don't have your food ready on time . This place has delicious food! They have delicious tortas for a great price. About $4! I've tried many tortas and there's are some if my favorites. The Mexican decor is also pretty nice.
