OMG! Talk about sarcasm folks! I placed several orders over the course of a few days and all was well. That was until today. I called the restaurant to place my order. I tried asking a question about the corn tortillas and the woman who answered the phone began laughing at me as if I were stupid telling me that I asked her the same questions a few days ago. Let's think about this for a moment. Does it matter how many times a customer asks a question about a restaurant's food? You run a business and you need to exercise some patience. You opened up a restaurant in America and you show us disrespect and utter contempt! Unfortunately I cannot recommend this establishment and should you be considering dining here I have some advice. Now back to your regularly scheduled Yelp review: Living less than 200ft away on Westgate St, Boss Burrito has become our first choice for fast tacos in Oak Park. Though there's a handful of tables, it's pretty small and hot inside, so carry-out might be your best bet (which is exactly what we do). When they've participated in Thursday Night Out during the summer months, we've gotten junior burritos with steak ($4.25) and regular ones with 'al pastor' ($5.50). All their burritos come with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream, all delicious. My combination plate last night consisted of 1 beef taco, 1 chicken enchilada, and 1 poblano pepper stuffed with cheese ($9.50). It came with rice + beans and was a decent value, but the enchilada badly needed ranchero sauce or something. I appreciate that they give you 'roja' and 'verde' salsa with to-go orders. Counter service is quick, plus they've got a fridge stocked with Jarritos and glass-bottled Coca Cola. Employees are pretty nice, too. Definitely recommend the burrito suizas dinner ($9.50), but the combo plates are hit-and-miss. Get some Boss Burrito takeout and pickup a case of Modelo at the nearby Target! read more

I love this place, and their vegetarian burrito is one of my favorites around. The space is relatively small and no-frills, so it works for a quick meal or for takeout. The staff members are kind, and they turn around carry-out orders in ten minutes. Great spot! read more

I've been going to this place since I was a kid when it first opened and it has been consistently solid and delicious for affordable Mexican food. Everything is amazing, no matter what you get. I wanted to like it but there wasn't anything special about it. I ordered the taco dinner which is always what I get when I try a new spot. It wasn't super flavorful. I did add salt and that helped but I don't think I've ever added salt to my tacos before. I would go back if it was a friend's birthday and this was their favorite spot but otherwise, I don't need to go back. My wife ordered a torta and it was also devoid of flavor. The meat wasn't bad or overly fatty just not seasoned. I will say that I am picky with my Mexican food and they just weren't getting the basics right. read more

A perfect place for an authentic experience! I was very happy with the service, price and most importantly the taste! Boss burrito has very limited seating but don't let that stop you from coming in. The table turn around is quick and you can always take it to go! You order at the counter and they have a large menu of options. For dinner I recommend getting the dinner plates as they are filling and might even be a meal for the next day. I ordered the Swiss burrito with chicken dinner plate and honestly it was one of the best burritos I've had. It comes with sour cream, guac, rice, beans and ranchero sauce. They had a sign asking people to be mindful of the plastics they take away as Oak Park was having the Thursday night out festivities. Sadly they didn't offer us an option for non-plastic items when we stayed there to eat but awareness helps nonetheless. read more

Their Tacos are excellent as was their Chicken Fajitas - their Beef and Cheese "so called Fajitas" were terrible - a blob of grizzly beef mushed with cheese on a plate with one pepper. Not good, and definitely not worth the money. I will still go back, just never order that again. read more

It makes me hungry just thinking of the food here! Oak park is a vet pleasant neighborhood with a lot of small shops neatly arranged. I was looking for some authentic tasting food that had more of a homey feel and I found just the right place. The portion size was filling and it tasted exactly as I wanted it to. Only one issue with my first visit there - at this point 3.5 stars would be more accurate. Here's the deal... Stopped there on the spur of the moment; I was planning on going to the BBQ place when I realized I could easily check out Boss Burrito for the first time. So off to Boss. Large menu above the counter area - all priced fairly it would seem, though one really doesn't know until one receives their order. A glance at the menu and I decide to go with a Carne Asada Burrito. With tax it's $7.13 - ok, fine. Order is done really quickly - awesome. When asked what salsa I wanted, I opt for the lesser of the two heat options. Glad I did because it had some pop - just enough to enhance the burrito. Got home and unwrapped my order - great looking flour tortilla, nicely sized, though wish the wrap had been a tad tighter. I begin consuming and after a couple bites, I begin to add the salsa. All systems go until the last 2-3 bites - at which point the burrito had become pretty wet and mushy. Not from the salsa as I poured it lightly and did my best to keep it together with the next bite I was going to take. So not sure why the last few morsels were quite so wet. But other than that, overall a good experience. I'll go again - maybe try another kind of entree. read more

This is one of the hidden gems in Oak Park, as it is not located on the main streets. The Boss Burrito, previously the Golden Lamb, opened I believe this summer (2012). The new owner/chef have updated the menu, but kept the previous pricing ($4.5 for a burrito). The food is fresh, quality and portion is comparable to what you get on cermack, and I believe I'm slightly addicted to their lengua and steak. If you want to enjoy some good Mexican food, and support local Oak Park business, do come and try the food at the Boss Burrito. read more

This used to be Golden Lamb and it used to suck. Now it's under new ownership and is reborn as Boss Burrito. The new owner is actually the old cool from El Alegre Burrito in Westchester which was one of my favorite places. The tacos are so much better now then under the old owner. Highly recommend the Al Pastor and Asada. Very flavorful and good portion size. Oak Parl really needed a good authentic hole in the wall Mexican place and now they finally have it. Get out and support this place and tell your friends about it. On a side note, I gave it 5 stars instead of 4 because Oak Park doesn't have any other good hole in wall mexican places. There is nothing fancy at Boss Burrito, just nice people making very good food that is priced very reasonably. I've had Tacos, Tortas, Burritos, and Gorditas with Chicken, Steak, and Pork and they've always been delicious. Park in the Harlem/Ontario/Marion Street parking garage for 1-hour for free and walk over - along the beautiful Marion Street is a good way to go - or park in one of the pay-lots near the restaurant. The CTA Green Line stop is about a half-block away from the restaurant, as is the Oak Park Metra stop. read more

I got lucky one day surfing the web and this place was recommended to me. I had to use google Earth just to make sure it was real since I couldn't believe I never noticed it. I was really bummed out because my go to Mexican place renovated and changed menus. I'm not the biggest fan of it anymore so I was left Mexican foodless. I'm glad I found Boss Burrito because it's now my go to place. The interior is really small with only 4 or so tables to sit at and even then it's crowded if you have more than 2 people with you. It looked clean and cozy thought so I had no problems with it. The staff has been a little on the brusque side both times I've gone. I felt more like I was bothering them by being there ordering. It's not bad enough where I wouldn't go back, but don't expect a warm welcome is all. The prices are very reasonable and I was super happy to see I could order a lot of the menu without feeling like I was killing my wallet. I was hungry so I ordered a chicken sope, chorizo taco, and an al pastor burrito. The food was served relatively quickly considering the place was pretty full. I loved the flavor of the al pastor burrito. It was sweet without being too much and the pork wasn't too fatty (which I always hate). The burrito itself was a nice size, however my one critique is that there wasn't enough pork inside. It felt like the burrito was 2/3 lettuce, tomato, etc. and 1/3 pork. So while the flavor was great, it felt a tiny bit lacking. The chorizo taco was good! It was very basic, nothing fancy. Not overly salty and had a well seasoned flavor to it. The tortilla wasn't wet and falling apart, which I've seen more and more recently. The sope was excellent! The masa was crispy with a nice chew to it and the chicken was sooo good. My partner had a chicken burrito and wasn't impressed, but I felt like the chicken was tender with a nice smoky flavor. I rarely ever get Mexican food where the meat tastes like that so to me it was a pleasant surprise. On a future visit I got the steak torta. I have to agree with a couple of the other people on Yelp. The steak is their weakest meat here. It's nearly flavorless. Because of the lack of flavor the torta ended up tasting only like the refried beans and sour cream.
