This was my first time going here. I have to admit. It's either Chicken Tacos or a steak Burrito. I don't wander too far off that. My decision today was Burrito. I always get the dinner option ( Rice and Beans ). The Burrito came out a little small but with all the standard ingredients plus Avocado. Large Horchata, great. Chips and Hot sauce for an appetizer. Red sauce was too hot for me. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was no pickled carrots and the Jalapeños were obviously canned and given to me as a side in one of the little plastic cups. I ordered delivery at 7:13 pm and then saw that there was a 7:15 pm cut off so I called to confirm. The kind woman I spoke to understood my concern and, after checking, reassured me that my order would be fulfilled. The delivery, a chicken burrito dinner, arrived sooner than expected. The burrito, complete with avocados, was clearly made with fresh ingredients. I have had MANY chicken burritos and none have been better! It was delicious as were the rice and beans. Situation: Working from home, hungry, bored with the food at home, wanting something different but its cold outside and I don't want to leave the house. Solution: Find a restaurant that is close by and that delivers. Went on UberEats to find a restaurant that had tacos. Macho's appeared in my recommendations. It wasn't far from me and they had an appealing menu so I decided to try them out. I saw they had quesabirria tacos so I was sold. Got an order of those along with a cheese quesadilla. My order was prepared, picked up and delivered quite quickly. (It took less than the estimated 45 mins listed in the app.) The food was very good! The quesadilla had plenty of cheese and pico de gallo, sour cream and lettuce on the side along with sauces. The quesabirria tacos were cheesy and meaty- just the way I like them and they came with a side of consome for dipping. They also had pico de gallo, cilantro, onions, limes, peppers and lettuce on the side. Very tasty!! And nicely packaged!! I didn't know what to expect since this was a random restaurant that I was trying but I was impressed and will definitely try other items on the menu. read more

I've been to restaurants wheee the steak has so much gristle but this place has all meat. Steak is chopped small which is a plus for me. This is one of my favorite Mexican spots for when I need to grab something on my way back home from work. I mostly do take out . Their pollo en mole which they offer most days is tasty, and I love that they include handmade fresh tortillas with it. The Chile relleno a staple dish is also a gem on their menu, I order it with the non spicy tomato sauce, and finish every bite. Their Mexican rice is nice and they give you chips and salsa with your meal. I've tried their sopes, they were okay, their tortas were good. Overall friendly service and accommodating. Based on the reviews, we came here for dinner as a family of 4. I like how the dining room is separate from the take out area and kitchen. We ordered combination 1 & 2 and cheese quesadillas for the kids. All the food was seasoned well and delicious, better tasting than some of the Mexican places we have in Oak Park. Mexican places come and go, but I really hope this one stays. So many pop up in the area but go away almost as soon as they get known. And most have been really good. I'm not sure why they don't last, too much competition? But Macho's needs to stay. So what makes this Mexican grill stand out over others? Quality. Service. Presentation. Price. Let me start with Quality. The ingredients are fresh, seasoned right and not greasy or heavily salted. The chips are fresh cooked. The guacamole is creamy and flavorful. The tacos are a nice size and good quality meats. The tortillas are fresh and not overly salty as well. Veggies always crisp. Service. The woman running the register is always nice, polite and really makes sure each order is right before it goes out. The staff are always nice and polite as well and really seem attentive. The food looks like a photo from a menu or advertisement. So many taco joints just kind of slop together plates of food. A piles of beans and rice and choice of entree. It all ends up in a mush in the middle of the plate or to go container. Not at Macho's. The taco's are nicely rapped. The beans and rice are in their own section of the quality container. It's presented as good as a fancy Japanese meal. Visual, it starts the meal off right. You are hard pressed to find Mexican food of this quality for the prices they charge. Seriously. Taco dinners are around $10. Fajitas are around $18. As much as we love our staples around town, the prices have really good up the past couple years with taco dinners reaching $12 and up and Fajitas around $25. I can't say enough about Macho's. We bring friends and family over and they all agree. The only down side, and it's a small one, is the quantity of fillings in the entrees. They are a little light, but, they are so good. No grizzle. The right amount of fat to meat ratio giving the right flavor. Not over salted as seems to happen with so many places. They even have Mexican Cokes in the bottle all the time, even when there was a shortage last fall. We'll be going here for as long as they are around. And taquitos crossed, they become a staple. read more

Funny enough this place isnt too far from me and I'm ashamed it's pretty close to the taco bell I go to sometimes. I think maybe I'll have to stop going to the bell. I've just discovered quesabirria tacos and it may not be good for my cholesterol but man is it good. I believe its beef? The original is supposed to be goat? It does have a super slight gamey taste, but I mean very light. I'm not a lamb or goat fan at all so I wouldnt eat it if it was strong. The consume is quite salty and if I have any left over it's good the next day with some bread. My son has to get 3 tacos here where he usually gets 2 at other places so tacos may be a little smaller, but that's not a complaint, just have to adjust your order. Their horchata is good, a little on the sweet side. I've gotten tortilla chips with every order. And I really like their salsas. The green one a bit more.
