~ ALL LOOKS, NO SERVICE, BIG REGRET ~ Reviews looked good on yelp so my group opted to have an early dinner here, but wow... this was one of the most disappointing and uncomfortable dining experiences I've had in a long time. We came in around 5:30pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was literally empty. That should've been our first clue. We were seated and then completely ignored for about 25 minutes... no water, no menus, no check-in. We finally had to flag someone down just to acknowledge we existed. Things went downhill fast. When my pregnant friend asked if they had iced tea or coke, the server actually told her she shouldn't be having caffeine and suggested something else instead. That comment was wildly inappropriate, not her place, and absolutely unacceptable. Full stop! Ordering food took forever, and when it finally arrived, it was painfully underwhelming. Dishes were missing items listed on the menu, portions were small, and the prices were laughable for what you get... think expensive guacamole that barely feeds one person, croquettes that tasted frozen, and fries that felt like an afterthought. Add in an extra kitchen fee on the bill and it just felt insulting. Service overall was scattered and disengaged, the space didn't feel very clean, and for a party of 8 being the only guests there, it somehow felt like we were an inconvenience. No warmth, no hospitality, no accountability. This place tries hard to look like an upscale Latin fusion spot, but it's all surface-level. Between the disrespectful comment, slow service, overpriced and mediocre food, and awkward vibes, this was an easy never again. Please save your time, money, and energy. read more

What a great new add to the area. Went with our team for dinner before Kings game. Location is great and food was very tasty. I had the Oaxacan enchiladas which obviously had mole but also a twist by adding tinga chicken inside for added smoke flavor and spice. Drinks were handcrafted and great as well. read more

Everything was amazing about this place. It was a slow night so the staff had samples of signature cocktails which were great. Our waitress recommended the aquachiles which were the best I've ever had. We shared the fig salad as well which was light and refreshing, not too acid/vinegarry which was nice. The restaurant is spacious and has a big bar to enjoy drinks at. It was rather quiet when we went in which is odd considering it was a Saturday night. Our waitress was friendly and helped us navigate the menu and make our selections. We went with the ceviche, aguachiles and Peruvian pesto. We started with a bang when we got the aguachiles first. Absolutely divine! Good portion and the avocado sauce was the perfect balance of spice and citrus. I absolutely loved it. The ceviche was decent. I personally prefer the fish to be cut up smaller as the big chunks didn't feel like they were 100% cooked through with the lime. As for the pesto unfortunately this was a fumble. The chicken cutlet was thin and crispy however the breading slide right off anytime I cut a piece off. As for the actual pasta and pesto I felt the sauce severely lack flavor. The creaminess was nice but for being a pesto the herbiness was definitely missing. Overall it was a decent meal. read more

I've been planning to visit Culturas since it opened, however, I was underwhelmed by my experience. I arrived on a Sunday, just after 5p, and there were about 4 people in the restaurant. I was greeted right away by the hostess/server who was very friendly and welcoming. She showed me to the table and made suggestions for food and drinks. I ordered 3 items: Whiskey Sour Cocktail, Brussels Sprouts appetizer, and the Lomo Saltado entrée. The seating was comfortable and with the doors open, the resturant had a nice breeze. I enjoyed the cocktail, but it took way too long and arrived after I received my entrée (the server apologized). The brussels sprouts appetizer also took way too long and arrived after my entrée and cocktail (a couple that was seated several minutes after I ordered, received their brussels sprouts first). I liked the savory brussels sprouts and would recommend ordering for happy hour. The Lomo Saltado was recommended by the server. The dish is simple; the meat was seasoned well but overcooked and tough. Although mentioned on the menu, I was disappointed to see the 3% Kitchen Fee listed on the bill. I thought restaurants had stopped charging frivolous fees. My experience didn't live up to my expectations or the total amount spent. With all the interesting dining options in DTLA, I'm not in a rush to return to Culturas. read more

If you're looking for something a bit different come here. I was intrigued by the Peruvian menu. Some of my favorites: ceviche Seabass, tiradito de salmon and ribeye. I don't recommend the lomo saltado, the meat was very tough and ended up sending back. Guacamole was salty and Peruvian pesto was more Italian than Peruvian in my opinion. Was actually walking to Starbucks and decided to stop in. The staff is unbelievably kind and accommodating. My waiter Bryan was the best! Food comes out quick and hot; full of flavor and the drink was probably one of the best Ive had in my 4 years living in LA. Everything is clean and they're super dog friendly (brought my dog water without even asking). The only feedback I have is the price. I was slightly disappointed the meal was $60. We love to eat but can't put away that much so we had the Acevichado Sushi Roll, Tiradito de Salmon, & the Truffle Fries. I've been waiting for this corner spot to have a solid restaurant and this spot is phenomenal for food. I had their truffle fries, esquire, carne asada plate and fried calamari. The fries were excellent, extra crispy, just wish it was more of it. The esquite was the best I've had along with the fried calamari, they were both phenomenal. Their romaine salad was also really delicious and one of my favorite dishes. I recently had their steak cauliflower appetizer, it was phenomenal and probably the greatest cauliflower dish I've ever had. The garlic sauce was on point. I also had their salmon Chipotle and I thought it was good, the Chipotle flavor was good but I wish it had more sweetness. Overall it was a descent option. The carne asada was also very delicious, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Overall it was an awesome dining experience with great customer service, Thanks to Joshua. I'd definitely come back again to try their other menu items in the future. Location is solid and I expect this spot to get busier as it gets out there as a solid Latin food a lot. 5 Stars! A Hidden Gem for Latin Cuisine Lovers! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the trendy, hip vibe of this place it's stylish without feeling pretentious. We started with the guacamole, which was fresh, creamy, and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I had the Carne Asada plate perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas, and he couldn't stop raving about how delicious they were. The restaurant features a full service bar, and the bartender is truly on point. We had an Old-Fashioned, and it was one of the best we've had balanced, smooth, and they provided the right types of cherry in the old-fashioned for all the old-fashioned drinkers and crafted with real skill. What really stood out was the attention to detail. The food is clearly made by a chef who knows exactly what he's doing everything was phenomenal. The restaurant and restrooms were spotless, which is always a great sign of a well run establishment. To top it off, the owner a very kind and personable young man came over to check on our experience, which made us feel genuinely welcomed. This place is a MUST visit. Updating my review- last time I gave 4 stars, but after going back while they were serving their full menu on a Friday night, I definitely feel as though we had a 5 star experience. Same as last time, the food is ASTOUNDING. Truly some of the most creative pairings, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. The service this time around was much better too- Alejandro was our server and he was great. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday night at 7pm. When we arrived, there was only one other table seated but it started to fill up later on for a live music performance. We ordered 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 2 entrees and the bill was $130. I'm so glad to go to a restaurant in downtown LA where the owner and staff are so welcoming and attentive. I've been here three times and the food has been outstanding every time. I'd have to say the carne asada was my favorite- it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I'm looking forward to going back to order this again. Friends have been saying positive things about Culturas. Finally made it here last Friday. So happy to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood with great food! You're paying 18 dollars for a single avocados worth of guacamole. 15 dollars for a single croquette that tasted frozen (the bottom crust was undercooked and stale-tough like pie crust) they gave maybe 20 fries for 10 dollars. We got the lomo saltado (which I loved that they used Peruvian potatoes instead of fries) , the ribeye steak and the Peruvian pesto. But let me tell you, the drinks?? Wow. Went to this hidden gem for a quick bite before a Lakers game. The service was great. The place is elegant but cozy and has a nice vibe. We had the Baja tacos, the Peruvian tacos and the ceviche. We really wanted to give this restaurant a decent shot, but things just kept getting worse during our visit. 1. Initial drink order took a very long time 2. No wine list was available. I had asked the server to show me the bottle of the Cabernet they had, and she brought whites. If you like Sutter Home or Bogle Vineyards wine, this is definitely your place. Yuck. 3. Server forgot my entree 4. Service was terrible. There was clearly no organization amongst their staff. I would like to note that their restaurant was at MAYBE half capacity. 5. We had a party of four. And at the very end an automatic 20% service fee was added. My partner felt taken aback since he's the one that paid the check. We should've definitely not agreed to it. 6. They definitely have many kinks to work out if they desire to be a successful establishment. 7. Needless to say I will never be returning, but wish them the best of luck. read more

A pretty bad experience all in all. Service was really poor - we were the only party in the restaurant and still had to constantly get up to ask for our wait staff. Even basics, like glasses of water and enough menus for the table, took us explicitly asking before they were provided. Beyond the service, the "best dishes" we ordered were mediocre. The lomo saltado consisted of overcooked beef, way too many onions, and a broth that was nothing to write home about. The burger's construction was comical, with the smallest piece of cheese we've ever seen, no bacon jam (which was to be included, per the menu) and the laziest truffle fries of all time. The ribeye was maybe choice (maybe, but definitely not prime) and was served alongside mashed potatoes AND home fries instead of the menu-stated vegetables. If you're in DTLA, highly recommend checking out a different restaurant. Don't make the same mistake we made - there are way better options out there. read more
