A culinary delight! When you first walk in, and right at opening to begin with, the restaurant was full but laid back. Service was great and punctual. Loved the fried chicken, my first entree to try. We came during brunch and I also enjoyed a watermelon coco mimosa. The buttermilk biscuit was the star of the show and the potatoes paired well with the chicken. I will constantly say that even more important than the food for me though is the service at places. And this place was seriously one hundred percent perfect. This was 2nd visit l, and once again the food was great, had the banana nut French toast, along with the endless summer drink. Service was awesome, everyone from the manager, who checked on us after we had not been attended too a few minutes after being seated, to the our waiter(Tyrie)to the staff who brought our food out was great! This was a very cool spot. I stopped in because the name caught my attention and ended up being very impressed with both the staff and the food. When I arrived, the hostess greeted me and showed me to the bar area since I was dining solo on a work trip.I was quickly welcomed by Bluey, a newer bartender, who provided a menu and promptly got my drink order started. I ordered the Katsu chicken sandwich, which was excellent. The servers were friendly and smiling when they delivered my food, and both bartenders stayed engaged throughout my visit, making sure I had everything I needed and keeping my water refilled.It was a fairly quiet night, likely due to the heavy rain, which may have kept people at home, but that worked in my favor, as the service was outstanding. Everything is rising in price but Culinary Dropout's rise in price is ridiculous. Brunch prices are outrageous to get nothing but a biscuit or burrito and nothing else. First off, it is such a great venue. We went on a beautiful Sunday morning and they had all the doors open which allowed a nice breeze to flow through the whole restaurant. My birthday was about two weeks ago. My husband took me to Culinary Dropout to celebrate. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while so going for my birthday was the perfect occasion. I went here with some family for a birthday and I want to start off with service, the hostess coming in was very nice, our waiter was nice but didn't tell us the sweet tea was infused with lavender and passion fruit, and who I assume was the manager was so kind towards us and gave us a refund for a meal even after we had told them that the chicken was to tough to even eat. That gets me on to the food, my salmon was great but the capers kind of overshadowed the corn and couscous taste. My other family members got the fried chicken, which was EXTREMELY tough but as I said the manger was very apologetic towards us and took the meal of our bill without us even asking. Other family members got the fish n chips which they said were good. If I had to recommend one thing we got would be the wagyu pig in a blankets with the sauce specifically, they were very good and came warm but not enough to burn you. Last thing is the ambiance, I personally love the vibes in the restaurant and I'll provide a picture of the bar below. The restroom was also pretty clean but could've used a good scrubbing on the back of the stall where the toilet seat covers are, other than that the actual toilet was very clean. Great service and the food isn't too bad either. Went here recently with a co-worker. Based on the recommendation of the server I skipped the fried chicken and got the steak frites. I ordered it medium rare but it definitely came out very much on more on the rare side (hold the medium) but I do prefer under vs overcooked meat. The fries were very seasoned (perhaps too much) but had a good crisp to them. For desert I had the "death by chocolate" ice cream concoction and although it had a lot of texture to it I wasn't that impressed by the taste. I was here a week ago for lunch( 04/28/24). My wait wasn't crazy and I was really happy about this was the case. It was busy but that was to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. I loved the interior design and decor. Very spacious and modern looking. I think most may like the vibe more than the food. Live music wasn't too loud and was a nice backdrop. For my meal, I had the steak and frites. Tasty but came out lukewarm and served at a slightly overcooked temperature. This is an Immediate turn off for me!!! Don't serve me cold food! Such a unique restaurant with a lively atmosphere! The menu has options across the board with a moderate price range. I ordered the Chopped Chicken salad without the hard boiled egg (and extra tomatoes)- it was delicious! I wished there was more chicken, although the salad was still very big and filling. Let me start off my saying our sever Regan was amazing! I will go back just to sit in her section. I went with a group which is always fun because we can all try each other's food. We started off with the fried shrimp and zucchini appetizer. I wanted to take the garlic aioli that comes with it home it was so delicious. I also tried two cocktails the Endless Summer Margarita and the Tijuana Spa Water both were amazing. For my entree I went with the brunch pizza since we were there during their brunch hour. It was delicious and just a unique dish I highly recommend it. My friends at the table had the burger, the ribs, and the vegan curry dish. I got to try them all and they were also delicious. We were seated next to the kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared. They have live music. Apps ordered: crispy popcorn shrimp, onion rings, buffalo wings and pork belly nachos. Nothing special about either app. You could barely see the pork belly on the nachos. Entrees ordered: fish and chips and fried chicken. Again, nothing special. Both entrees needed some seasoning. Ooooooooooooooooh family I know yall been waiting for this one and I am bringing it right to you. Guess who went to Culinary Dropout with 8 of his friends...This guy! I am going to do my best to cover everything and not make this so long but no promises. First of all shout out to the AMAZING staff and all their hard work. I had reservations and ended up arriving early and they already had our table ready and we were sat immediately. Our waitress was so nice as well shout out to her (I don't remember her name). 10/10 for staff EASYLY! The scenery was so hip and welcoming. The staff was walking around with normal clothing and looking like everyone else which made it a lot more homey. The decorations in and out of the place was very nice and cool looking. 9.5/10 Now for the food. When we were there we were greeted to find out they have a brunch and a dinner menu. Since we had reservations for 12:45pm we had to work with the brunch menu which meant some things we wanted were not available which was fine because what we ended up ordering was just as good if not better. When I say everything we had was just pure heaven I mean it was heaven! The only thing that wasn't great were the fries they were okay at best nothing to wow about but everything else deserved 9's or 10's. Definitely no lower then an 8! Due to so many dishes I won't describe each one I will just list them and put a score next to each one. Detroit Style Pepperoni & Italian Sausage: 8.5/10 (probably would have been in the 9's but there was too much parmesan cheese on top). Hot Wings: 9/10 easy! The Pub Burger: 10/10 Fried Chicken dinner: 8.9 ( was a touch too dark just a touch and could have used a bit more seasoning but would order again) BBQ Pork Belly Nachos: 9.8/10 Onion Rings: 10/10 Please go check out Culinary Dropout at the Summit right across from Mid. You know those places that would make you visit a city it's for that? Yeah, this is one of those places for me. I was in Birmingham for the weekend and we just needed somewhere to go for lunch. I picked this place and wow. I love the vibe of this place. Open concept, central bar (with enough bartenders to justify it), and this little side area with speakers and a mic that was so cool. The kitchen was also visible and I love places like that, but with glass instead of fully open so the heat didn't scorch the place. Steak frites: 4.75/5. The steak was perfectly seasoned and tender. Skirt steak is so easy to overcook but it was delicious!! I could have used some more truffle butter, but that's my only complaint. The fries were perfect: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect amount of salt. And then the salad. Look: I don't even like salad. Not only that, I don't like arugula!! But this was so good. I ate almost all of it. Fresh and lemony, and the cheese was the perfect addition. Caramelized banana bar: 4.25/5. I don't even know what to say. The mousse? Smooth and sweet. And I can't even explain the peanut butter crunch. SO good! Everything paired perfectly together. And vanilla crema was like thick and creamy. Only thing I'd do to change it is more caramelized banana since it is what the dish is called. But absolutely delicious. I can't wait til I'm back in Birmingham. I was invited to their soft opening, and it was a great experience! The atmosphere and service were all amazing! Everyone was so kind! I went with my mom. She ordered a coffee, and I ordered the watermelon mocktail. When my server came to confirm what drink I ordered, I didn't remember the name but knew it had watermelon in it. I received the Endless Summer Margarita instead though which had watermelon garnish on the side. No big deal, I still drank it and it was still a pretty pink drink. We started off with the antipasti charcuterie board. They had chef selections that day that included prosciutto deviled eggs, crusty bread with garlic oil and balsamic, aged manchego, truffle cresenza and molinari sopressata. The deviled eggs and bread were great. My favorite had to be the truffle cresenza. What a spreadable cheese and the perfect amount of truffle! The molinari sopressata was a bit too salty for me. Next up was our entrees. We each tried some of each others. I ordered the steak frites that came with a nice little salad. The salad was nice, the vinaigrette was a little too sour for me. The fries were cooked to perfection! The steak was also cooked a perfect medium. It was a little too salty for me. I tried some of my mom's 36-hour ribs. They were okay, but the sauce was a bit too sweet for me. So I noticed their flavors are pretty strong. For dessert, we shared the Mississippi Mud Pie. It was delicious! The perfect amount for two people really after an appetizer and entrees. It came with a delicious coffee sauce I couldn't get enough of! Was this place everything I had hoped it would be?
