The queso and Pretzels were the best i've ever had and i have had a lot. We happened to go on Halloween, and Shrek was our waiter, so that adds a bit. Atmosphere was cool and the restaurant was in a very neat area with lots of shopping. Highly Recommend this place if you are near the Domain. read more

We came here for lunch today and enjoyed it! We stopped by around 3pm and were able to get seated immediately and without a reservation, which was nice. Kate was taking care of us as our server and did a fine job. As for the food, it was delicious. The wings were very good; definitely recommend them as an entree. I also enjoyed my fried chicken, as it was very tasty (so were the mashed potatoes and gravy that came with it) and had generous portion sizes. Hostesses were polite and friendly. Our waiter was absolutely slammed, but still managed to answer questions, make recommendations, and make sure the order details were correct. He was friendly and checked up on us frequently. The food was perfect. The ribs fell off the one and slathered in sauce. The salad was incredibly fresh and crisp. Brussels sprouts were crispy with a lightly salty seasoning. The fried chicken though... I mean this was the dish of the evening. Crunchy breading with that moist flavorful chicken underneath.it was perfect. Wonderfully seasoned. Not shown are the wings. Which were spicy without being overly so. Great flavor with a medium burn. The floors were clean and so were the restrooms. The kitchen has glass walls and it was fun to watch the cooks working. There was live music that was very good albeit just a little loud for conversation. My only real complaint was that when I did need to find a member of the staff I couldn't identify who they were. I'm not recommending uniforms, especially since Austin celebrates individuality. But a name tag would have been helpful. Wait staff and customers had the same appearance. Come with a patient attitude. Everything takes a minute because it is fresh. If you are hungry, the appetizers are a great way to curb the hanger. This is my third time here. Culinary Dropout has a cool trendy vibe with a patio that is closed in on colder days. It also very kid friendly. Troy took care of us and gave us impeccable suggestions. For appetizers, we had the Whipped Feta and Tahini Dip Hummus. This was my wife's favorite. We also had the Spicy Shrimp Crispy Rise. It was delicious. We then had the salads including the Asian Crunch Salad with Chicken Breast and Butternut Squash and Kale. Both were tasty. Finally, we had the 36 Hour Ribs per Troy's recommendation and Baked Bolognese. The ribs were amazing and the pasta was great. We had a wonderful time here for a friends birthday. The drinks and service were fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their food. 5 stars for everything except that I didn't realize the Mongolian ribs is actually a Thai chili soup over... I think it's porridge? It's not grits. It's... like this weird flavorless mush. It was disgusting and also not advertised with the ribs. Crispy rice would have been good if they hadn't been accompanied by a tablespoon of Thai chili sauce with every bite. It was inedible. The wagyu corn dogs were... surprisingly bad. Table next to us had a shrieking child. After about 12 shrieks they left thankfully. I ate with my bowl in my lap... so weird to say at a restaurant but the tables on the patio are these cute 'booths' with short tables. Super awkward for eating a meal. Our server told us that the kitchen was very backed up, and he even brought out the free fondue pretzel appetizer, which was delicious. However, I saw that the table across from us, received their main entrées, even though they arrived after us. Nevertheless, the food was fantastic. I ordered salmon entrée which came with bread, eggs, and other toppings. It was very filling in the statement it was cooked to perfection. Mid at best. Went Monday. Now I don't drink and the two guys from my team don't drink either. So maybe our company thought we were all a bunch of raging alcoholics, but nah... So maybe the drinks were better than the buffet style food for our party. The salad looked a bit too extreme for me. The chicken wings seemed like they were just reheated frozen things. No crunch on them. The mini biscuits were nice. If you like a dessert that will give you diabetes, they got that. The best thing to me was the Mac n cheese. It tasted a bit better than the other items that tasted slightly better than frozen Place was nice. I really can't fault them. The people there are fantastic. For food I got the salmon and it was very tasty but I wanted more brussel sprouts with it so that was a little disappointing. He got the bolognese and it was really good. Let's be honest: the fried chicken and salmon were... fine. Not bad, not great--just solid B-minus energy. But nobody's coming to Culinary Dropout to start a food blog. You come here to party, drink like it's a holiday, and yell across the table like you're at a rock concert. And speaking of concerts, the atmosphere? LOUD. Like, "Did someone just propose or was that a server taking a drink order?" kind of loud. Imagine eating dinner in the middle of a music festival, minus the porta-potties and plus really good cocktails. We showed up 30 deep like a wedding party with no bride and somehow the staff didn't panic. They smiled. They laughed. They kept the drinks flowing faster than our group chat could keep up. No one had an empty glass, and everyone felt taken care of. The food was OK, perhaps I would have to try one of the entrées to really get a feel for it but we got a salad and sandwich and it was good but not mind blowing. I got the chopped chicken salad which was tossed in barbecue sauce and I was not too thrilled about that, I must have totally missed it on the menu. I did catch that it had a barbecue ranch dressing and I did request to just have plain ranch but the chicken threw me off. My husband got the turkey pastrami sandwich, which was also just OK, not great not horrible, but edible and filling. The one thing that we really did enjoy was the fried shrimp, which also came with some fried zucchini, and the little dipping sauce was delicious. we sampled yesterday's soup, which was a roasted red pepper and decided not to go with it but it had a nice flavor. Now I will say the service was absolutely amazing, we sat at the bar and were helped by two different bartenders. They were so attentive and were great with making small adjustments on our food, made sure everything in our area stayed nice and clean, and changed the TV for us to the All-Star game. They were a lot of fun, and even though the bar was super slammed, they were pleasant the whole time always smiling and joking. I'm so glad I finally got to try them. Imagine the crunch of perfect tater tots around a delicious risotto. The salmon was cooked perfectly, served over some cream style corn. I came away stuffed. The restaurant made up for their earlier mistake and then some. If you're less than satisfied with your meal be sure to let your waiter know. I had a Paloma and it was tasty and strong. They also have a good selection of beers and wines. The chicken wings and crispy popcorn shrimp are great app options to share with friends but would be meals on to themselves. The friend chicken was spectacular, crunchy, moist and full of flavor. We had reservations and was seated quick, the waitress was very helpful walked us through several options and answered all questions. We ordered a special drink a margarita they had was ok, not $ 23.50 good. Then ordered the pretzel with cheese this was a 10 there bites there big you get plenty we took some home. Ordered a small Caesar Salad it was perfect size and good not the best but good. My wife got the Asian Salad with chicken and enjoyed it and I had the Bolognese Pasta I would give this a 6.5 the noodles were over cooked and sauce was just ok. You get plenty of food the prices are reasonable except the Margarita was defiantly overpriced. We took are Dog and sat on the patio and it's not bad was a little hot but it Austin we were fighting the flies a little so that was a pain. They have live music and it was good but when he started playing you really couldn't have a conversation anymore way to loud. If we go back I would try something different and sit inside depending on the time of year. The place was very lively and crowed. Had a team lunch at Culinary Dropout on a nice October afternoon. This place is so vibrant and there is always hustle bustle around. We got a table outdoor which was perfect since it wasn't too hot. Our server was great and help with recommendations. I had the watermelon spritz which was very refreshing. Recommend it on a summer day. The apps were all great, tried the wagyu,Brussels sprouts, potato chips and shrimp. Just felt the shrimp were a little dry. Had the fried chicken for entree, the mashed potatoes were good but the chicken was salty for me. Turns out thus is one of few places open earlier for brunch so check the time on that because I forgot but most places I go don't open until at least 11. Seriously I've never had anything bad here, my go to is usually the nachos but they're huge so we went with something smaller for an appetizer. Turns out the shrimp on was pretty filling too! I barely made it through my side salad I ordered instead of a meal. I love coming to Culinary Dropout, whether it's for a quick snack or a meal. My experience is always met with great food and service. Pro tip make a reservation ahead of time because they do get busy. We had an assortment of fresh sliced meats and the oh so delicious crispy bread! Our waitress was great, she was super attentive and quick to get anything we requested. I believe the manager stoped by a few times to check on us as well. All in all it was an A+ for us. I ordered the steak but substituted the fries for the Brussels sprouts. It was absolutely a great choice. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes for the baby and asked they prepare them as plan as possible and they did! It is a bit pricey but for quality food I think it's worth it. There are so few places that do brunch on Saturday as well as Sunday and take reservations. Luckily this place does-and it was amazing! We took our 5 and 3 yo at 1030am on Saturday, and it was perfect. Noisy enough to cover up their loud talking, but not so noisy that we couldn't hear each other. The food was wonderful. We tried the Southwestern Breakfast Bowl, the Smokehouse Hash, and the Banana French Toast. The kids both got the eggs, hash browns and fruit cup kids meals. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The Banana French Toast was very indulgent-we split it 4 ways and it was practically a dessert. Unlike many places, the kids plates had a good variety of fresh fruit-not just melon or a shelf stable fruit cup and was made with real eggs. I also had a delicious PassionFruit Mimosa. 1st off, we plan on coming back. This experience was substandard in a couple areas. The food came out luke warm with cold provolone fondue. Sent it back and asked for the fondue on the side. Burrito came back out luke warm again.....When I cut into a Burrito or just breakfast food in general, especially eggs, it should not be near cold. Despit that, the food was seasoned well. The Martini was great! Coffee was very good and the atmosphere was great! I love the live music playing while we dined. That actually made this review a 3 instead of a 1. The baked mac and cheese was very rich and gooey- perhaps one of the best mac and cheese I have ever had. My picky eater was not able to finish the whole big bowl of mac and cheese so I helped out. The warm pretzels were tender and chewy (in a good way), and who would say no to cheese fondue?! The M.A.C. Burger- a dressed up double cheeseburger- was huge and filling, and the burger patties were juicy. A lot of people in Domain don't just go there to eat. Some go there to eat after shopping or vise versa. We expect, if not fast service, at least the server has to be attentive. I would never complain if I see our server busy with other customers. But Leah our server was busy chatting with the co-worker. Disappear in the vicinity for long period. There was a huge time interval between taking our orders, checking if we need something after our food is served, handling our check,etc. I don't have silverware ready when food was served. I needed a sauce but didnt get it until I was halfway my meal. She was going to print our check but again talking to the co-worker for ~5min...until the other guy came, kinda stopped them from chatting. This isn't our first, won't be our last. To all those who like to people watch this is a great place. Had a great view of people casually strolling through the Austin Domain area. It was very clean and unkept. Food: I didn't get too much this time around I only ordered some hot wings and a drink. My ultimate go to anywhere are chicken wings. I didn't expect the wings to taste as amazing as it did. The sauce to wing ratio was perfect. You can tell the wings aren't just tossed in the sauce, it's actually glazed very well over the entire wings. The wings had a nice crisp on the outside with the inside being tender and juicy. The sauce was to die for and tasted so fresh and homemade. The drink was good as well.
