    Spicy Rigatoni
    Alanis S.

My group and I tried several different dishes, and everything was enjoyable, but the Spicy Rigatoni is an absolute must-order! It was packed with flavor and easily the standout dish of the meal. The Mongolian Short Rib was also very good! Tender and flavorful but it could have used a little more rice since the sauce was on the salty side. Having more rice would have balanced it out nicely. The restaurant has plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a great spot for groups or casual dining. Our service was a little slow, but we visited during a busy time, so it was understandable. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back to try more of the menu!

I wanted to try something different near the Apple Store. We found Culinary Dropout and decided to walk in without reservations. Today, I ordered the roasted salmon with vegetables, not couscous. My partner ordered fish and chips with a Diet Coke. My salmon was overcooked for medium. The topping was flavorful, but the salmon was pretty tasteless, so I asked for Yellow Bird hot sauce to drench them in. The basil, dill, and parsley were nice bites of flavor to the bed of roasted asparagus which tasted repetitive without it. My partner is from England. He said that his fish and. Hips had too much paprika in the batter, but he would order it again.

I came here with some of my coworkers and we had a great experience! We started with a few appetizers to share: Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Rice with Tuna, wings and Whipped Feta & Tahini Dip. Everything was really good and packed with flavor. For drinks I ordered a white sangria that was ok and a strawberry lemonade that was really good!! For the main plate, most of us ordered the Steak Frites, and it was so good. The food came out pretty fast, which was a nice bonus, especially for a large party. The service was great throughout our visit, and everyone was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and is a great spot to enjoy a meal with friends or coworkers. We parked close by in one the garages and walked to the restaurant. Overall, we really enjoyed everything we tried and would definitely come back!

Met a friend for lunch here last week. I had a coupon for a free order of pretzel bites, which were yummy with the fondue. It was a pretty big order for the two of us so I ended bringing some home. I actually deferred from my usual item I order when coming here and ordered the fish and chips. My friend ordered salad with shrimp. And we each had a cocktail. She had the espresso martini and I had the one with passion fruit in it. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. We were seated outside in the patio which is nicely set up so even on the very hot day that it was we didn't feel too hot. The food took an extra long time to arrive so they ended up comping our drinks, which was nice of them. CD is very conveniently located in the Domain with easy parking so I'm sure I'll find myself back here again soon.

Would definitely come back here because we had a great experience. Came with 5 of my friends for our little trip and it was our first time being in The Domain area or Austin. The service was fast and there were plenty of cocktail options as well as food on the menu. The drinks were very aesthetic and still strong at the same time. The food was hot, fresh and yummy. We sat outside and it was still breezy and had a good amount of air flow plus we could hear the live band or cover but still have a good conversation within each other without feeling like we were yelling. Really recommend this place to large groups too. Very positive vibes here!

Another great meal at Culinary Dropout...I met a Yelp friend and a sorority sister for Happy Hour. Our servers were attentive and super friendly. We were delighted to run into Sky again. We had a Yelp event in the Domain tonight and this was a perfect location to hang out until the event began. We ordered the garden salad, Shrimp crispy rice, and soft pretzels and cheese fondue. The salad was crisp and fresh with tangy ranch dressing. The Shrimp crispy rice was soft and crispy simultaneously...so good. The pretzels were soft and flavorful. The cheese was a nice complement to the pretzels. The restaurant was fully booked and packed to the brim. As with the last visit, the patio was fully booked for a corporate event. Although restaurant was busy, customers were prioritized. The restaurant was a bit noisy but alive.

This is my second time at this delectable establishment, and I must say it was the best time. Good food and excellent service!! What more can I ask of one of new favorite eateries in Austin!!!

Went to culinary dropout on Friday and it was quite busy for lunch. In saying that service was very average and also the food took about 30mins to come out. It was very hot and uncomfortable outside. So it was not fun. The food was good though. Maybe they were having a bad day.

This place brought life to me from the very moment I stepped inside. To the right of me was the bar with plenty of people raising a glass to tonight's festivities! On the left is a huge glass window revealing the kitchen in operation. In the middle is the dining area. Through a door on the side is a beautifully laid-out patio with strings of lights, buttery-soft leather couches, multiple TVs, a ping-pong table, and other games. This place was bringing life to my sweet soul. I ordered the 36-hour ribs with fries and coleslaw. The ribs had a sweet, spicy, smoky flavored taste. The meat slid from the bone with ease. It was tender, meaty, and delicious. My salad was more than a side salad. The veggies had that nice, crispy texture: cucumber and tiny tomatoes, with Parmesan sprinkled on top. My friend got a hearty helping of delicious salmon, set on a colorful, tasty bed of veggies. Since both of our meals were so good, we split them with the other. We couldn't leave without a dessert. I almost got the usual dessert that I get from everywhere, the Monkey Bread. I'm glad the waitress suggested the Caramelized Banana Bar. It's praline mousse with a cornflake peanut butter crunch and vanilla crema. Now I'm not a big fan of peanut butter. So at first, we ordered one, which led us to order two. I had to have my own. But the more I think about how beautiful and fun this place is, I want to tell you a little more. What makes this place so wonderful is that the restaurant is glass from floor to ceiling, think of a garage made of glass. Also, there's a Live Music night. And for you fellows, they have a Monday Game Day Bundle! Well, for parking, no need to worry! This place sits near all the parking garages! So go here, eat heartily, drink well, listen to music, play some games or watch a football game, and enjoy!

    Spicy vegan curry

Dec 16, 2025 review ----- I've tried this place 2-3 times. Really huge place with both indoor and patio seating options. Vegetarian options are limited so be aware about that. We got the soft pretzels with provolone fondue. Fondue comes hot and pretzel are coated with se salt, really good combination. I like the pretzel as little hard from outside but soft inside. It was enough quantity of pretzels to share among 5 people as appetizer. For 2 people it maybe be more filling. Location is premier as this is located in domain and close to the parking lots. For the main course, there is only vegetarian option - spicy vegan curry. I asked the waiter for more options but I was told that this is only one they are most confident with for vegetarian. So I went ahead with it. It has griddled Sweet potatoes, eggplant, snap pea, bol choy, mushroom and black rice. They were able to remove the mushroom and add capsicum instead. Decent portion size for one person. You can give it a try if you want to try something as a hot bowl in this area.

Turkey Pastrami Sandwich with Caesar salad
    Kristi B.

We stopped in here for lunch on our last day in town because it was nearby our hotel. Their menu has a substantial offering including salads and sandwiches to main entrées that are available at all times a day. Our server was nice, but wasn't very talkative. I chose the turkey Reuben on pretzel bun. The turkey was really delicious and that Reuben seasoning was excellent. The pretzel bun was good as well although a little thick. You do have a choice for sides. You can either do a french fry or a small salad I chose to go with the salad and chose Caesar. It was pretty small definitely not more than maybe a cup of salad. My husband got the fried chicken entrée and let me tell you, that fried chicken skin was amazing and amazingly delicious! Not only that, the chicken was incredibly moist and you can definitely tell that it'd probably been brined. Really excellent. And also comes with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The coleslaw was a little heavy on the mayonnaise side, but in all fairness, we are not big mayonnaise people. Biscuit was good as well. Maybe just a little bit dense. Potatoes were nice and fluffy. I also got the peaches and rye cocktail, which is exactly as it sounds Rye bourbon with peach purée. Very easy to drink and great on a hot day.

We stopped here to catch part of a game and have some snacks. Menu items are on the pricey end, and are salty, heavy, and well presented. We ordered a Charcuterie board (pay per item, ours was $30+), and the pretzel bites with Provolone Fondue ($17). Staff is super stylish and nice. Located in the Domain.

Are dogs still allowed on the patio?

    YES!!

    Is there prime rib?

There was no sight of an prime rib on the menu.

Is there a way to find out if there will be music on a specific weekend? Will there be music the weekend of Feb5th, 6th?

That might be a question you ask the restaurant directly. They have a contact link on the website to submit a question if you don't want to call. Just a suggestion.

Do they have coffee or espressos for the weekend brunch?

What's up with Happy Hours these days? We were there today at 5pm and told 20% off drinks when we were sat but then at check out, our waitress said there's no happy hour discounts...

There's a specific menu they'll provide from 2pm to 5pm with the drinks and food that will be discounted

Is the patio heated well during the winter months?

Hi Rhonda! Yes we have overhead heaters installed in our main patio area and mobile heating units…

Do they have any Keto friendly options?

Hi RaeAnne! While we may not have our gluten-free or keto options marked on our menu, we do have plenty of options for you as well as a scratch kitchen willing to go off-menu to accommodate any and all dietary preferences and restrictions!

Any vegan options other than the vegan curry? Thanks!

They serve French fries and pretzels. Or there's a Flower Child next door.

Do they have a kid's menu? It's not in the website, but I read one review that said they did.

Hi Sara, Yes we do have a Kids Menu! We will work on getting that posted online to be available for…

Perfect Birthday Celebration at Roaring Fork!…read more On Sunday I celebrated my birthday at Roaring Fork with my family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, and the view overlooking the quarry made the evening even more special. One of our favorite perks was that Happy Hour is available all day on Sundays. We started with a traditional margarita, a mango margarita, and a few mocktails, all of which were excellent. For appetizers, we shared the shrimp cocktail, fresh guacamole, and chicken flatbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For our entrées, I ordered the cedar-planked salmon with miso soy glaze, and it was absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and practically melted in my mouth. My partner enjoyed the same dish and loved it as well. My youngest daughter ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes, her boyfriend chose the ribeye steak with French fries (they definitely have expensive taste!), and my other daughter had the grilled rainbow trout. Every dish was beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. The red wine paired perfectly with our meal, and the staff graciously allowed us to bring a birthday cake, which made the celebration even more memorable. Between the exceptional food, beautiful atmosphere, great drinks, and attentive service, it was the perfect birthday celebration. I highly recommend Roaring Fork for a special occasion or a relaxing Sunday meal with family and friends.

More and more, going out to eat in the U.S. has been a disappointing, underwhelming experience. I…read moreunderstand that time is money and that waiters and waitresses are working for their tips, but it truly sucks that it has become so difficult to actually enjoy your time in a restaurant, to just sit and relax without feeling this underlying rush. It's something that seems perfectly possible in pretty much every other country but the U.S. The moment you sit down, the waiter asks what they can get for you. They handed you the menu three seconds ago. There was absolutely no time to glance through it, evaluate your options, or discuss them with whoever you're sharing the table with. This happened at Roaring Fork, but it also happens 95% of the time I go out to dinner. Then the food comes, you eat, say no to dessert, and voilà: the check is waiting for you! Again, you can't just sit back and relax, take your time deciding whether you want dessert, maybe order a coffee or another drink. They want you out of there ASAP, and somehow you're still expected to tip 20%, which is ludicrous, but this is another conversation. Now, specifically regarding Roaring Fork, I do wonder what actually constitutes a "fancy" place. What is it? The view of the lake isn't exactly impressive. The inside is cute. Does having a cute interior make a place fancy, is that it? Or is it the high-priced menu? There's no bread offered at the table, nothing particularly special. I am genuinely lost when it comes to what makes a place "nice" these days.

This was a wonderful meal in a comfortable dining space where the food truly tastes as good as it looks.

No one was in the back, covered, air conditioned patio so we got a seat there which made it easier for us to hear each other. We ordered the fried green tomatoes to share. She ordered a salad. I ordered the special of the day which was a crispy salmon bowl, which wasn't what I expected. It was more fried than crispy in my opinion. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. Other than that the service was great and I'm sure I'll be back here again!

You just won't get any better than this anywhere in town. Everything was cooked perfectly and they hit flavortown with that meat!!! The atmosphere is beautiful and in good weather sit outside overlooking quarry lake. We went for Sunday brunch and I sure hope this restaurant makes it because the excellent service and high quality of food with fair pricing makes this place a gem I'll continue to support.

When we walked in, we were greeted by beautiful decor, though it seemed quite busy, so there weren't many staff members at the front to welcome us. The restaurant had a couple of other guests, but it did take a little while for someone to come over and help us find a seat. Stuart enjoyed his chicken fajitas--they loved them! I chose the fresh burrito to avoid simple carbs. The food was a bit mild in flavor, so I asked for salsa. They have a delicious homemade habanero salsa that's bursting with flavor, and I especially appreciated that it wasn't smoky. That salsa alone earns five stars from me! Aside from that, it was a little challenging to get someone's attention for the check and water, but overall, it was a pleasant experience.
