We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

We were told to bring the registration, title and proof of insurance on the bikes when we brought them in. We brought the motorcycles with all the paperwork to store them at which point we were told since I rented the unit only my motorcycle could be stored in it - my husband had to rent a second unit as i am not on his title. that is there POLICY. I wanted to raise the matter above the Sunday fill-in guys head which fell on deaf ears. Big time BAIT AND SWITCH! We inked a deal with them understanding they were working in good faith. They only thing they really care about is being able to liquidate everything in your unit should you not pay. Never ever will I use this storage facility no matter how nice and clean (it is) and DO NOT recommend anyone try to store vehicles with them. FOLLOW UP - Dave at presumably the home office called to discuss my experience, promised he would provide a refund of the charges we encountered. 3 weeks later that refund remains missing, go figure.

My only gripe is that they get you in with a free month then raise rates within a few months And then keep raising them every few months so for long-term renters the monthly cost is always going up. It irks me that as a long-term renter, I'm paying so much more as a valued customer than someone coming off the street renting for the first time. There should be a long term renter discount.

On top of that, there is rarely an employee on-site to speak with when you need assistance. To make matters worse, they charge extra for 24-hour access, something a competing storage facility right down the street offers at no additional cost. The constant price increases, lack of customer service, and additional fees make it difficult to justify staying here. I would strongly recommend shopping around before renting from Public Storage. What starts out as an affordable rate certainly doesn't stay that way.

My 5'x10' drive-up access storage unit was clean and dry. The rate after the first month was cheaper than any other storage unit rentals in the area. Additionally, I got a bigger unit at Public Storage (competitors' units suggested were 5'x8' unit) at a lower price. All of this makes me feel so much better about storing my motorcycle to protect it from the salty air in my location.

They are extremely good about alerting you when payment is due & never have any hiccups about collecting the rent. The exponentially bad part is that monthly rent increase every year, a little at first, and more & more each year after they know you are comfortable. In 10 years, ours went from ~$250 to ~$700. Worst part is that they do not refund anything, even if you're only 2 days into the month you just paid for. Extra Space Storage does pro-rate a refund, so you might want to compare.
