Delicious and healthy meals for a good price! Cubby's is one of my favorite places to eat out at.

Hard to find, but once you find it ... I took my nephew there to eat when I was in town, and he got a burger (which was on the smaller side) which he loved, I got a tri tip sandwich (which was really tasty) and we split a tri tip salad, which was a taste bud explosion, too. The tri tip on the sandwich and salad were different so it was great to have both! I'll definitely be back. read more

I have had this place bookmarked in Yelp for a while now based on all the rave reviews. I don't make it south of the point very often but found myself down that way for a conference and was excited to try Cubby's. Got there around 1:30-2:00 in the afternoon and was surprised that I was able to walk straight to the counter to order. I found out later I just got lucky because the line grew quickly soon after I ordered. I ordered the tri-tip without onions and a side of Mac-n-cheese. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The sandwich was big considering it was just the regular; glad I didn't get the "Big Dog". I dived into the sandwich as was surprised to find the trip tip wasn't tender, it was chewy. I was getting a strange crunch that had me worried until I realized it was the bacon. The sandwich was slathered in a sweet BBQ sauce which was ok. As I mentioned before I was glad I got the regular size, now I was really glad because I didn't want to eat the quantity I received. The Mac-n-Cheese was ok, it wasn't very hot and it was on the dry side and flavor was just all right. Based on this experience I should probably not go back again but I will give them another try when I am in the area again. I will avoid the tri-tip in favor of an Italian beef or a burger and hope for a better outcome. read more

Awesome option for a really good burger or salad in Provo. Fun ambiance, friendly service, and reasonable prices. But the kicker? Sweet potato fries. OK, lots of people have SP fries. I've always loved Cubbys. I came when they first open and for some weird reason taken a break the last couple years. I went again for lunch a couple days ago and I wish I had never stopped going. We got the steak salad and wow, the most amazing salad I've ever had. The flavors of everything was sooo good. Their BBQ buffalo blue cheese fries were amazing too. I've been to Cubby's a few times since I've been in Provo, and it's one of those places that drives it home as far as consistency and taste. It's usually packed around dinner time, so the hardest part was finding a seat, but other than that it was excellent. The girls we were with described the atmosphere of the restaurant as "really cute". I've already been a few times and I would for sure go back, and I would even introduce it to new people. I was pleasantly surprised to note that the Dragon Slayer burger is delicious, and the Buffalo Bleu Cheese fries are actually pretty amazing. They have a standard soft drink selection with Coca-Cola products. They also have a small amount of gluten free options such as a fairly large Mixed Berry Salad which was nice to see at this type of establishment. read more

Signature Chicago Beef. Because of their location and the lack of good restaurants in the area, besides Kneaders, Cubby's would be one of the best lunch options in this area of Provo. I liked the decor with the menu chalked up on the wall and wood panels, giving it a barn feel. What We Got.. On the menu, there are multiple options to add to your sandwich. Different sauces, girl, boy, or man peppers. Man, being the spiciest. I like when I'm able to control how much spice I get! The Bad Boy BBQ Beef ($4.99)-Shredded Italian beef with a mixture of their homemade BBQ sauces, spices, pickles, on a homemade bun. Nothing fancy, but tasty. The beef was finely shredded. It was almost like melt in your mouth beef jerky, if that makes sense. The beef was so soft and tender, that even my 6 month snuck a taste. It was actually his first man meat eating experience, so Cubby's will always hold a tender spot in his milestone calendar. The Original "Mr. Beef"($6.99)- Signature Italian beef with thin slices of seasoned roast beef topped with our famous giardiniera on a Italian-style roll that is dipper in our secret famous sauce. Basically...beef meets beef. It had a mild oil vinegar taste that was unique. We got our peppers boy style (the only option that day) Service.. This is an order and pay place. They were fairly busy but we got our food really quick. I noticed multiple people come in and take out a bag full of sandwiches. I'm guessing because they are located across from the hospital and Central Utah Clinic, it would be a yummy choice for lunch meetings. Overall.. Yellow light. I enjoyed the food and if someone wanted to go again I would, but it's not something I'm going to be craving next time I'm pregnant. The prices were awesome! read more

It was so delicious. Honestly, absolutely so good. I was walking out to my car after and I was thinking about how I could easily eat another one. But that is both the reason for a good review, and the reason it isn't a 5 star review. I ordered a Tri Tip sandwich and a order of Sweet Potato fries (with the Buffalo Sauce drizzled over those. It's better). The Tri Tip was so good. I don't eat meat much at all, maybe a few times a month, but I used one of my few times to have this sandwich. I had heard rave reviews. I ate the sandwich and the meat you didn't even need to bite, it came apart without effort and was delicious. The fries were insanely good too. I love the Buffalo Sauce on the those fries. Delicious. My friend came down from Salt Lake Valley, he raved about it too. But my Tri Tip sandwich was really small. Really, really small. I am not an overweight guy. I don't expect crazy big portions. But this felt like it was only about 6 inches. And here is the kicker, I paid over $12 for this meal! It was insane! They must have charged me extra for every vegetable I asked them to put on it. I enjoyed every bite, but I left that restaurant wanting more to eat after I had just finished a sandwich, an order of fries and a glass of water. There wasn't even a drink that I purchased! Now I am okay with spending money on good things. I am writing this from a Macbook Pro (I understand paying more for better quality). I LOVE that these people get their food local and treat their animals humanely. I honestly do. But $12 for a meal without even getting a drink? It is cheaper to go to a sit down restaurant and tip a waiter for bringing me all my food and drink. I could get two Chipotle Veggie Burrito Bowls for the price of this one meal. It is DOUBLE the price of that meal. It is insanity. I'd love to go again but I think charging me over $12 is a deal breaker. The person at the register MUST have nickel and dimed me for everything I put on it. I didn't even look at the price before I ordered because I wasn't really worried about it. I learned my lesson this time. That said, I loved the decor. Such great style. I loved the TVs with the game on. That was great. The restaurant was way too small though. My friend felt so pressured to order from the menu that is WAY too big because the line was out the door behind us with no seats available. He had analysis paralysis because of how detailed that menu is. I think I saw that they are expanding to the place next door. That will help a ton. I got the Tri-tip sandwich and my girlfriend got the grilled cheese. Both were good, but I would order the Grilled Cheese the next time I go. However I think it is more of a Panini than a grilled cheese, but that is getting picky with semantics. Anyways great new place in Provo. It's a good sandwich. I got the tri-tip and it definitely has a special zing to it that would be difficult to replicate at home. Special flavor! BE ADVISED...the Rosemary fries are a no-go. I'm a fan of soft fries, but these were just mushy and unappetizing. read more

Really good food! Was a little apprehensive as it's located in a strip mall next to Target. Fun and interesting decor.

It's super difficult trying to find a place that can accommodate 15+ people let alone the different food allergies everyone in my family has. Cubby's advertises they have gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and regular meat options and seemed like the perfect place. However, when we got there at 9am this morning they were out of Quinoa - we were told they only had enough quinoa for 2 people (my group had 5).They forgot to prep more Quinoa. The cashier basically looked at us and said "oops" then told us it would be 30 minutes before they could make more. Super frustrating that staff laziness impacted the 2 hours I had to spend with family passing through town that we don't get to see every year. I'm always amazed at how poor upper management can impact an entire brand. The Cubby's up in SLC don't have these types of issues. read more

First time I went there, my tri-tip city sandwhich was full of fatty beef. I somehow decided to go back and try it again and there was no fatty meat and it was amazing! Kind of a hit and miss with the meat. read more

I gave it a second try and I still am not a fan of Cubby's. Why 4 stars? It's probably not fair for me to maintain my original 2-star rating just because I'm not feeling the flavor of this place. I really respect establishments that make a concerted effort to prepare quality food with quality ingredients. That's what's going on here. Again, the women in the group had salads, which they loved. The salads looked nice and they looked fresh. Instead of the tri-tip sandwich I had last time, I ordered a burger this time. However, I just wasn't feeling it. The ingredients were all excellent. Me and the flavor just don't get along. It tasted like a higher-quality beef, but it was a bit undercooked for my taste. My fault for not specifying "well-done". My son had the tri-tip sandwich, the same I ordered last time. Meat was marbled, same as last time. It's fair to say that I'm picky about meat. I don't eat fatty or marbled meat. That's not to say this meat was overly marbled or in someway inedible. I'm sure most people don't notice or mind. The bottom line: I would hate to give anyone the impression that this place is not good or poor quality. Obviously lots of people like it. The ingredients have never disappointed, quality-wise (except the tri-tip). The women always love their salads. Cubby's is just not for me. (Thanks to Cubby for responding to my last critical post. I can see why this place has potential. But, I can only speak of my experience. Overall, the customer service was mediocre and the food was just okay. Our meals averaged about $13/person for lunch with a shared fry. I had the beet salad with added tri tip, shared bleu cheese buffalo fries, and I had a soda. I ordered the beet salad with added tri-tip. They delivered my salad without the tri-tip. When I asked to correct it the serve said, "well you didn't PAY for trip-tip." He was likely correct but I ordered it and they missed it on the order. I ordered as part of a group and the person taking the order didn't repeat it back. They agreed to add the meat if I would pay the difference. I paid the extra, whatever. The beet salad was unmemorable at best. Good mix of lettuce and arugula, but very few beets and an unnoticeable amount of goat cheese. The added tri-tip was okay, but not anything unique. Definitely not something to repeat. Our table ordered the buffalo bleu fries. The fries were awful. For frozen fries they were not good. If they were fresh fries (I doubt they were) then they really missed the mark. The unique flavoring had potential as described on the menu, but was poorly executed and shouldn't be passed off as a $4 side order. They basically dumped on buffalo wing sauce and bleu cheese dressing. Soda had crushed ice. I like crushed ice. Well done there. In summary, customer service maybe gets the job done but their indifference to the "customer experience" was noticeable and will be a hurdle for me to ever return. The food I had was not great and I will never order any of the items I tried again. I hear the sandwiches are good. Stick to those and you might have an okay experience. read more

I visited the restaurant for the first time this weekend. Decor: Stellar. Reminds me of southern BBQ joints. Cleanliness: Excellent. Floors were clean. Cooking areas were clean. Restrooms were clean. Table next to us had a couple of young messy kids. The moment they left, the staff cleaned up the area. Price: Not too bad. Other reviewers complain the price is too high. Seemed reasonable to me. Food: Blue Cheese Fries. Others rave about them. I found them positively acceptable. Simply blue cheese dressing and a BBQ sauce on thin fries. Nothing new here - solid and tasty. Based on other reviews I ordered the tri-tip sandwich - the mustard option. Solid, good. Met my expectations. Misc. Seems like a cool place, however there weren't any real vegan options. Of course you can't expect every restaurant to have vegan options, but they have a big sign when you walk in that says "Vegan Options." The black bean burger is made with egg. The only two other options are a portobello burger and a salad, but both are modified so they're not the real entree. You have to request that they don't put cheese or pesto or dressing on it. I went with the portobello burger and it was basically inedible. The mushroom was absolutely flavorless, not to mention rubbery. I got halfway through the burger and couldn't finish it. Very disappointing from a restaurant that claims to serve vegan food. read more

This place is so amazing. It is my new favorite place in Provo. Which isn't saying much since there aren't a lot of great places to eat in Provo, but Cubby's is a breath of fresh air. Their ingredients are super fresh and delicious and grass-fed beef is just better for you all around, besides its great taste. So far I've had the Tri Tip Steak Salad once and the Houdini Burger several times because I can't get enough of it. The Tri Tip Steak Salad has organic romaine and arugula, roasted bell peppers, slivered almonds, scallions, dried cherries, diced tomatoes, feta cheese, seasoned tri tip, drizzled with a lemon cilantro vinaigrette and it is TO DIE. So flavorful and fresh, you just feel good after eating it. The Houdini Burger has sautéed portabella mushrooms, smoked bacon, crispy onions, smoked gouda, mixed greens and a garlic aioli tarragon sauce. I always get the aioli on the side because aioli is just a fancy word for mayonnaise and I am not a fan of mayo. But even without the aioli it is so tasty, juicy and filling with all the flavors combining perfectly. I've also had the Rosemary Peppered Fries and the Sweet Potato Fries and both are great. Personally, I prefer the Rosemary Fries just because that's what I like. They are addicting and the portion is large so you could get by with sharing, but you will fight for the last ones because they are so yummy! The atmosphere is also great. I love the decor and the feeling there, so if that is important to you, you'll be happy. But Cubby's isn't just a pretty face; they have the food to back it up. They've recently expanded to accommodate their flocking fans and the restaurant is twice the size it originally was. If you're going on a Friday night, consider getting there early before the crowd! read more

We stopped by to check it out and see if it was as good as a lot of people say it is. The interior improvements to the space are really cool with plenty of seating and great feeling atmosphere. We ordered the tri-tip salad, the pear salad, the blue cheese and hot sauce fries and then had them surprise us with the absolute best food that they knew how to make. The surprise was the grilled cheese with chicken. The pear salad was just OK and had a decent flavor from the candied nuts, pears and dressing. It was nothing special or unique though. The tri-tip salad's dominating flavor was the lettuce. It had very little interesting flavor and was not worth ordering. The grilled cheese had some good flavors from multiple ingredients such as cranberry bread and avocados but it was so greasy that you could not hold it well and it kept falling apart. The grease did not help the flavor at all. The fries were covered with just a distributor's blue cheese flavored sauce (no blue cheese chunks) and Frank's hot sauce. Fine flavor but they got soggy fast. Any creativity in the blue cheese could have made them better. Overall the food was not worth going back for. I think it is only getting so much play because it is in Provo where good food is harder to find and this place works well with a college student's budget. read more

I tried this place for the first time a month ago with some friends. We went back within a week because we wanted to try the rest of the menu, it was that good! Can't really go wrong with anything on the menu but I always make sure to get the Buffalo Bleu Cheese Fries because they are fantastic! As for portion size this place is definitely at the point where the portions get a little bit smaller but the flavor gets bigger. Perfect! read more

We've been here quite a few times, so pay no attention to my "1 Check-in." Everything is good! They have hearty, sandwiches & salads, and lighter, no-meat salads & sandwiches; something for everyone! My favorite of all time is the Dragonslayer Burger w/ Avocado Spread. Don't forget the avocado spread! And don't worry about picking the wrong fries, they're all good. And actually, that goes for everything on the menu as well; you can't go wrong. My kids love this place, too! read more

The Houdini burger verdict: So good! This was by far the best burger I've ever had from anywhere, and my husband is a pretty excellent cook! The combination of mushrooms, bacon, smoked Gouda, and crispy fried onions was top notch. Not to mention the burger itself was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. We also had the rosemary fries, delicious. My son had the mac & cheese and it was even better than our homemade version that I'm pretty proud of. Being a selective meat eater, I was thrilled to find Cubby's offered "happy" meat options. Meat that is humanely raised. I love this! Because of my personal choice in only eating meat that is such, it was a treat to learn that I could have anything offered on the menu knowing it fit my philosphy. Not only that, the food is delicious. Not overly complicated but very complimentary flavors on every single item. I have brought many of my friends and family members here and even my meat disliking sister can't get enough of the burger or tri-tip steak sandwich! Great food, great staff and atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. Hardly a week goes by now where I don't eat at Cubby's at least once. read more

I was excited to try this place as I LOVE a good Italian Beef sandwich. The layout is awesome and there is a great variety of food to choose from although I was going for one thing... I had the foot long Mr. Beef, the wife had the 6" Mr. Beef, and we shared the buffalo fries. The fries were great, simple, and very tasty. We both had ours dipped and manly. The giardiniera was not hot at all (I think they used serranos vs jalapenos) so I don't understand why they would have the certain classifications of girl, boy, and man unless they are catering to a crowd that they feel does not like heat. The meat was ok, the sauce was great, and the bread seemed like it was from the day old bakery. Overall I was hoping to love this place and make it a treat to come in every so often to satisfy my cravings. Fresh bread and hot giardiniera would make me come back for more. read more

This is a fantastic place! If you are looking for the best, REAL sandwich in town, come here. The dining area is a little bit crowded, but there's a fantastic selection of meats (which I might add are the best tasting meats you'll get between bread for under $10) for your sandwich. I recommend the tri-tip, and unless you're okay paying a bit more for lunch, I recommend this as a dinner joint where you can get great food at a suitable price. read more

Cubby's is by far the most consistently delicious burger place in Provo. The salads are great, the rosemary fries have changed my life and every burger I've had leaves me questioning why I bother to go anywhere else. It's a little pricier than other options out there, but the quality and consistency justify that difference. The only thing I've ever had that I wasn't blown away by was the tri-tip sandwhich. Had the Italian Beef and a Chicago Style Dog. I had my sandwich dipped, the way it should be. I did think the meat was over cooked and the sandwich not as spicy as it should be... The dog was disappointing. It was small, and missing the traditional makings of a Chicago style. I guess, it can't be perfect nor can it be like home... hence I can say I will check it out again when I have the urge for something like home... People behind the counter were real nice too...
