We went here from a tip by a friend. It was a good tip! (Note: google maps is wrong and will send you in circles. Just look up and around when you are close and you will see it ) Atmosphere: chill Seating: It was a little confusing if you are a newbie here. You basically just sit down whereever you want. Inside is super loud. Outside is where it's at, especially during sunset time. They also have a cool fire pit that's solid. There is also a "play" area and doggie area out there. Beer: pretty good. They didn't have the IPA avail, which sucked. The Flounder's Red is stellar. Food: Great! The Cubano was amazing. Service: Good! They use iPads to take your order and sometimes they breakdown or don't go through. If you are waiting a while, ask where your food is. We had Carizma and she was awesome! Really nice gal. read more

Great food and great service. Very cool vibe. It feels as though you've taken a wrong turn when you first are driving up to it. I thought Siri had gotten us lost. Going to Crux was an amazing experience! We had great service, awesome beer and tasty food. It's hard to choose just one beer, so we got a taster (6 beers of your choosing). As per the waiter's recommendation, I had the Agave Club with agave porter aioli and the Aamco Salad with balsamic stout vinaigrette. It was amazing. My boyfriend got the Pork Belly Banh Mi sandwich. Our beer choices were: Off Leash Session IPA Half Hitch Imperial Mosaic IPA Cruxtennial Fresh Hop Belgian Pale Ale Peated Scotch Ale Better Off Red Flanders Red Ale And the Banished Doublecross Strong Dark Belgian Ale There were 18 beers on tap total, so this was a tough decision, but not a single one disappointed. I'm an out of towner but I love heading to Crux when I'm in Central Oregon. To be completely honest, this is not the place to go if you hate crowds, are on a time crunch, or have a small bladder. It's always packed like a noisy neighborhood party and the bathroom situation is abysmal. But that being said, it's a great spot to hangout and enjoy central Oregon. The beer is awesome and unusual. I'd recommend tasting it before you commit. The food is a foodie's paradise- both crux's and the other food carts. I recommend their pretzel with beer cheese dipping sauce and the taco truck. You can bring your kids and dogs and set up camp out side. There's often live music and the Crux Crew is pretty friendly. I've never been there when it wasn't packed but I also usually go on Saturdays. read more

Crux brews are amazing and the food was great. The service, however, was 'meh.' Took about 15 minutes to get a server's attention and then another 30 to place an order after getting our flight. They ARE renovating, so maybe that was part of our less than stellar experience. We went at opening time. The service was fast and very friendly. Our server was willing to take our four year and two year old to explain what was happening with the grain at the brewery. Yes they are too little to understand but were very interested in what she had to say. We had the roasted vegetables, project board and drunken figs. It was all awesome, it was so nice to have healthy flavorful options at a brewery. The beers in my flight were all very good. This is a must visit place in Bend. read more

This place is pretty cool, some of the best barrel aged sours Iv ever had although it was pretty pricey, 1$/ounce although it was worth it, only downside is the bartenders are some of the slowest of all time. Line was out the door and they were moving so slowly it was insane, 15-20min to get through the line that was only to the door. Overall really really good beer ok service. read more

Amazingly bad. I was so sad I missed them last year on the bend ale trail and now I'm sorry I didn't miss it. Some fantasies should stay fantasies. I love sours and ambers and lagers. They had 2 drinkable beers of 6 tasters. Sweet Jesus! $17 for 6- 4oz tasters. We came to bend for the half marathon and apparently they price hiked per other brewers (we groveled because everyone else in town has a range of $10-12. FOR EXAMPLE, 10 barrel gives 10 tasters for $10). Mind....blown. And their beer is actually good. Crux made me sad. Greedy bat-tards. read more

With apologies to my friend who actually works for one of the other breweries in a grown-up capacity...these guys are the shiznit. Excellent beer and very good food to go with it. The food does not distract form the beer, but complements it like it should. I like almost all their beers from the pilsner to the stout. Only thing I don't like? their website....talk about user-UNfriendly. Looking up their menu before I visit is more of a pain than it is to just go and take my chances. OH wait...the other thing I don't like...the food carts are nice option, but service is hipster-slow. oh...and the other, other thing I really hate....those big long tables were you sit with the rest of humanity AND THEIR OUT OF CONTROL KIDS. Crux is a hidden gem in Bend. It's hidden behind some construction and other buildings right now, but if you find it you're all set. Crux has a cool atmosphere, decent beer, great food trucks, and a view. Crux gets four stars simply due to the fact that the beer could be a little better. The food is delicious and the brew pairs well with these shareables. Since we were visiting and weren't quite sure about the dining arrangements, Davey took very good care of us to ensure our experience was excellent. And it was. Crux has five Star beer, all of the pints (4) I tasted they were all good! Play wave stole the show and the Pilsner was all day drinkable. Plus they have real pint pours not a 16 ounce glass with the top 2 inches of foam, aka a 12 oz drink. The day we went was a party, food trucks and people all over the place outside had to be 300+ people. We managed to snag an inside table which was great for the kids. The apps were fairly average, and the one big downside was the one bathroom for 300 people, which lead to a 30 minute all lines, yikes. We left with a T-shirt and a growler and I plan on coming back next time we swing through Bend. read more

Let's talk about Zach, then we will talk about Crux. One of the first impressions of a joint is the waitstaff. Zach hit our table about the time our rears hit the stools. He was easy, comfortable- sorta like he shoulda pulled up a chair to join us and we wouldn't have minded. We ordered drinks and a nibbly, both came promptly, then we ordered more nibblies- here they came. He wasn't bent out of shape that we didn't place our order in one shot. We weren't half way through our time there when we were commenting on how great he was. Now, this is not to say we haven't had great service here every time- because we have. Zach just has that... zaa zaa zu The food? On point. Chili mac boiling hot in its little cast iron pan. Chili lightly tossed over mac n cheese, bubbly browned cheese around the edges ooooo. Then we went after that ever touted grilled cheese. Dang man, none of us have experienced anything like this. Molten cheeses, house pickle chunks (btw if you have not had pickles on a grilled cheese you're missing out. At home or out, dill on GC is fab) and then... this crusty crunchy crumbly grilled on crust coating the bread. It's difficult to describe this master piece. Layer upon layer of genius. Crux- don't let Zach go. We will be looking to sit in his area again. He wraps the whole experience up. read more

My boyfriend and I love Crux's beers so we stopped by for dinner while in Bend for a weekend this summer. We were a little confused at first as to how the restaurant works as there are food carts outside and cafeteria-style seating indoors, but the staff was very friendly and explained without making us feel too clueless :) our server was upbeat and kind, and the food was great, but the beer was even better! My favorite thing about the place though was the communal draw the setup brings - there were families and children running all over outside in the large grassy lawn, people playing cornhole, parties enjoying the variety of food trucks outside, etc. I appreciate what they bring to the community! read more

This was my second visit to Crux and it solidified my thoughts... this place rocks. The Mo Fresh is awesome. The food is great too. The grilled cheese was crispy and delicious. It has a coating of asiago cheese that was rough on the roof of the mouth but totally worth it. The turkey sandwich was amazing too, but did not offer any pleasure from pain like the grilled cheese did. Both are winners, just like Fred Slacks. read more
