Meh! Crux was extremely hyped up in the yelp reviews and blogs. We weren't very impressed. Large lawn with food vendors... there were a lot of people there. Luckily no long waits for the beer. We each got a beer that we're just okay. The views was also just okay. Although we didn't stay for sunset... I think there are other places in town that you could enjoy a nice sunset. read more

Love Crux for so many reasons! We have been trying to eat a little healthier and I know bread (my favorite) doesn't always make me feel the best. Luckily, Crux is super accommodating and has multiple options for various food preferences or needs whether it's vegan, gluten free or dairy free. The food is always delicious no matter which way you go as well, which just makes it that much better. The other major elevating factor (besides the additional food cart options that are awesome) is, of course, their beer. It's damn good. From the light and summery to the super hoppy to the heavy. They are really good at making beer. And while it negates my gluten free meal, I can usually justify the stomachache was worth the deliciousness. read more

We've been wanting to try this place out and we have to say, this is the best spot we've found so far. Great atmosphere, delicious food and tasty beer! We will definitely be back. We tried the Crux pizza project and it was phenomenal. They took great care and pride in the food they served. The wait was a bit but it was worth it! Try the "bad apple" or the classic pepperoni. We also tried El Sancho and got one of every taco on the menu except for the mushroom and the lengua. And again everything was delicious! My recommendations...Try the pork carnitas, the chipotle chicken and the Oaxaca cheese! You won't be disappointed. The line was long and the wait was a bit but it was also worth it and understandable why they're so busy. They're sooo good! On hot summer days try the Shaka shave ice! My wife and I are here in Bend and gonna try out this brewery we have never heard of. It's an extremely pleasant environment to drink beer, big open garage door. Bend me, shape me breeze bending & blowing through the inside. It's cool. It's refreshing. And 18 microbrews on tap, what's up with that? Five IPA's alone, pale, porter, Pilsner, scotch ale, Belgian light, Belgian dark, pale, red and more. Two years in the biz. Head brewmaster formally from Deschutes. To Crux or not to Crux? Super cool mellow hang out spot. There were plenty of families here and a range of age groups. Friday night they had 2 food trucks (tacos and brats) as well as a shaved ice truck. All took card or cash. They also has a live folksy band playing. They had corn hole and a few other outside games There is a HUGE outside area with games and a fire pit. Plenty of benches and tables. The indoor seating was limited but they are currently under some construction so maybe that will be fixed Very dog friendly Food was good, beer was good, great environment! Recently made my second trip here on my regular vacation to Bend. First time was excellent and the second time was as good as the first. The beer selection is excellent, and it's not all just hop-heavies--there are a lot of malt heavies, dessert type beers, with high ABVs (which is my preference). Got a couple flights and shared. I still like the Freakcake, but their new Wheat Wine was probably my favorite this time around. Also, the staff was super friendly. We rolled in on a weeknight in winter, so it wasn't packed. But it was when we hit it up on a weekend in the summer on our first trip. But that's okay, because there is ample outdoor space (with a food truck or two) where you can play games, sit by a fire on the patio, picnic on the grass, play catch with the kiddos, or cornhorn with your friends. This is my favorite local beer in Bend, OR and that's quite a feat. I haven't been to a crummy one there, but as far as beer is concerned, they win. read more

This place gets super busy! We came the first time in the evening and there was a line to get in. We came back earlier the next day and all the seating and shady spots were taken. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch here today! We started off with Squeakers and Pickles and the Pig Newtons. Both were really tasty, but the Pig Newtons were particularly exceptional. My Brutus salad was also great, as were the chips my dining companions let me steal from their plates. The atmosphere was fun and casual. Beer, food and service. It was all good...excellent really. We had the darkest, spiciest beer on the menu. Something to do with Love...no surprise. Accompanying our suds was an order of roasted veggies with romesco. So delicious. Our waiter chatted us up about the beer. We would have taken a keg home had we been able to fit it in the overhead AND if it weren't for those pesky TSA types. I guess we will just have to move here. Oh...and the outdoor lawn area complete with multiple corn hole games and pooch facilities just makes things perfect. I really wanted to give these guys a higher rating, because I think the ambiance and quality they dish out is excellent, but they most definitely need to up their customer service game. Went in with my girlfriend to grab a flight (we were just driving through the area) and quickly chose our selections. I went to the bathroom and handed her our buzzer, assuming the flight would be out before I was. I came out and it wasn't, but no big. They were busy. After about ten minutes (and watching a lot of other orders get filled), my girlfriend went to see what was up. Apparently one beer was only available in cans despite it being listed on the draft menu. I get that, but they didn't come to find us and didn't pour it because one wasn't available. We opted for a replacement Fast forward five minutes, still no flight getting poured. I noticed a guy start it up, pour a half glass, and walk away. We enquired again, and turns out, two of the beers on the flight had blown. I've managed a taproom and beer tended and totally understand shitty luck with taps, but again, they just stopped pouring rather than reaching out. We ended up getting it, and a unique flight ended up featuring two beers I'd previously had, with about a 20 minute wait. When something goes wrong, it's gotta be fixed sooner than later. If it's not, you gotta figure out a way to make it right after the fact. Neither happened. Good quality and ambiance, but some staff training is for sure in order. read more

The beer hear never fails to impress. I am bummed to have missed fresh hop season by a week but there is always next year. If you aren't a fan of IPA'd this may not be your place although they do offer other options, but they are know for their IPA's and have a fantastic selection. One of the coolest venues in Bend in my opinion, mainly because of the free corn hole, kid and dog friendly and selection of food trucks. They also have a second bar to serve outdoor patrons which is a must hear being that they are always packed outside. Their swag is pretty sweet too. Just up the road from 2 other breweries and 2 bars which are all cool, so a fun place to go to and walk from place to place. I do wish they served their full menu outside, but the taco truck is amazing (like whoa!)outside anyways. read more

Cool place to come. I had the Nordic Saison ale. Pretty tasty and flavorful. My favorite was the Fun Wit It. I actually liked this place inspite of the limited seating. The staff was very friendly and fun. My only real downer is the limited menu. I feel like they went a little too far away from delicious into the interesting category as we didn't see anything that looked appetizing on the menu but there's always the food trucks I guess. It's always nice to find a cool brewery that has lots of beer options, including sours! I'm always on the hunt for a good sour, and this place had a few great options! They also have a really cool space, super industrial, and a nice outdoor area that is probably utilized more often than when I went in December. The sunset was really nice though, regardless of time of year. It's also cool to go to a brewery that makes beer that you buy in stores in your own town :) Crux also has food! We got the cajun wings, which were tender and flavorful. They had a nice kick to them. We also got cheese curds. They were good but nothing I probably couldn't get from the store myself. Also...the bacon wrapped dates. Those were so good that we actually ordered another plate of them! This might sound crazy but we actually came back the next day to have a more substantial meal as opposed to snacks, and we got the dates AGAIN as an appetizer. We also got the portobello french dip and the grilled cheesy. Both amazing! Grilled cheesy is great if you like cheese (and a variety at that!) and spicy food! The pickles were a great touch. The french dip is awesome for vegetarians (and non-vegetarians, like us)! Hearty flavor and very filling! Would love to come back next time I'm in town. read more

I love everything about this place! Perhaps it was because I had just finished a 6+ hour car ride from Seattle, but every sip of beer was phenomenal. The live music, huge grassy lawn, food trucks and friendly people and dogs were just icing on the cake. My husband and I managed to make the second half of "sundowner hour," which they hold every night the 30 minutes before and after sundown and discount all beer and some food at $1 off. Even after exploring all the other breweries on our long weekend trip to Bend, Crux remains my favorite and will definitely be my first stop next time I'm in town! quite possibly the busiest place in all of Bend.. but thankfully they are efficient and get your beers out quick. Crux is the ideal spot to watch the sunset and enjoy a beer. overlooking the cascade mountain range with a perfect view of mt. bachelor, it's seriously so beautiful and it was a great way to ring in our first night in town. we didn't order food as we had just eaten but the menu is great and everything coming out of the kitchen looked good. they also have a bunch of food carts in a big grass field next door that would be a really fun way to enjoy your beer, the sunset and some food aside from their menu. crux serves great beers& the vibes are on point for Bend. will definitely visit at least once each time i come back to visit. read more

Absolutely knocked it out of the park under two categories: 1. The beer. 2. COVID precautions. The drinks we had (3 IPAs and a cider) were fantastic. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, good food- I really don't feel like you can ask for much more. But I need to address the elephant in the world- COVID has changed a lot about how we experience life these days. But these guys are knocking it out of the park. Lots of room to distance socially, mask wearing from employees and patrons, plenty of precautions in place. What I appreciate the most is that visiting Crux had all the feeling of pre-COVID life but with post COVID safety. These guys should teach lessons on how to do it right. read more

If you are visiting Bend and you have every intention of checking out breweries while you are in town, Crux Fermentation Project must be on your list! Not only is it a relaxed, open atmosphere, it is especially family friendly. My husband and I, and our two little kids stopped by for some light food and beer and couldn't have been happier! It's a beautiful spot especially for a sunny summer day and the huge open grass area is very entertaining for kids and dogs. The venue has a bonfire and even corn hole set up for everyone to enjoy. The outdoor space was definitely my favorite because of the huge lawn area. Bring a blanket and make a picnic out of it! The afternoon we were there, there were also 2 food trucks which were super convenient. We ordered food from them, but ordered 2 flights of beer from Crux's main bar inside. The flights were delicious and the service was very friendly and fast! I easily get discouraged with breweries that are too tight, loud and enclosed. Crux is the perfect venue for young families like mine that need space for toddlers to run off their energy. I definitely recommend it to everyone and plan on coming back again next time I'm in Bend! read more
