It caters to a younger crowd, whether you're bar hopping on Tennyson with a group or looking for a spot to take a hot date. For better and worse, it's a neighborhood bar at its core. The most shocking thing is how they transformed the space from the previous tenants. It has a beautiful open layout with nice furniture and design. The bartenders are generally friendly and prices are in line with similar cocktail bars in Denver. The few times I've been here I've been in a cocktail mood. Negronis and Old Fashioneds are made well and are slow sippers I enjoy. They do have a nice selection of wines that I'll have to try when it tickles my fancy. The only hiccups here for me are some really long wait times for drinks. They usually have two bartenders and sometimes it gets really backed up. No one is running the floor when I've been there bussing and wiping down tables. Though I understand with a location here it can go from being empty to completely slammed in a matter of minutes! We ended up sitting inside because it was a bit too hot for us, but others were on the patio and it did have ample seating and shade; will likely be lovely in a few weeks. The decor inside was clean with comfortable seating and a variety of bar seats and low tables. They also had virtual golf - an interesting mix. My one complaint is the amount of televisions. It had the amount I'd expect at a sports bar but way above sports bar prices. They could get away with removing 1-2 and still catering to the same crowd while appealing to those (like me) who don't want to have to sit in a corner and strategically place the chairs just to not have to look at a screen.

A friend sent me a flyer that a local DJ was having an all vinyl set here with funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul - some of my favorite genres and hard to find, especially in vinyl in Denver, where electronic dance music is a bigger culture I had the best time, the music was great. I even introduced myself to the DJ as someone who moved here recently and began following his Instagram so that I can come to other nights like this. The cocktails were delicious and very unique, I can guarantee you've never seen a sour cream and onion martini on a menu before. I don't have big enough balls for that yet so I opted for a guava sour and was so delighted at what I got. They use a Pea foam instead of egg whites and I could not tell the difference. The guava flavor was so strong and present, perfectly balanced for the drink. I also tried the infante -- or at least a version of it, I asked if there was any way to make it the same as the sour with the foam, and our server told us the bartender would whip me up a unique concoction that was similar to that. It was such an original drink. Everything was so yummy. The place is in a perfect little corner spot tucked away in Sunnyside, residential, but feels fun. Definitely can't wait to come back.

So I had the time to drive 20+ minutes from work to get to the northside to try out the Little Wolf's burger bar located inside the establishment and called the "Flip & Howl Burger Kitchen." (Don't ask me why.) I made the drive mainly because I'd asked AI where some of the best burgers were in Denver area and one of the answers (when I asked for "quality ingredients") was "Little Wolf/Flip & Howl Burger Kitchen." Made the drive for the Durango-sourced Colorado Wagyu beef/cheese burger that cost just a bit more than $10 a pop. Rating right up at almost a perfect 5 stars, the drive was worth it. And what made it so great? Not just the burger, but because as soon as I walked in the proprietor's first words were, "Want an ice cream cone on us?" While I thought it must have been because of my stylish aplomb and in-command presence . . . turns out everyone gets the same offer. (What a great marketing idea:). Took my burger, which by the way, tasted great, but of course ate my soft ice cream teaser cone first. Turned out to be a fine idea. End result? When you're looking for a great place for a blue-collar burger at an extremely reasonable price be sure to make the drive to the northside to give Little Wolf's a bite. Not too far from a station and training building so I'm sure that's the connection. Ambiance? Check. Service? Good enough. Food? They have jerky, popcorn, and various lays chips available.
