Gotta thank my classmate for letting me know about this very walkable neighborhood spot just off 16th Ave in downtown Denver. Stopped by because my friend had her name on the free monthly drink list. It's a small bar located off of Larimer & 15th street. Vibe is you just walk in and sit where you want, but have to go to the bar to order drinks. Seems weird when there's 3 bartenders behind a short bar and not one circles the room. Staff weren't friendly. Even if you made eye contact they just went on doing their thing until they were done and decided to service you. Could get faster & better service closer to downtown for same price. Expensive for this experience but that's why you go on the free day if your name is selected, I guess. She eventually came out, but the look on her face should've been my second sign that this place was a no go. My friends and I came in for Name Night because two of us had names on the board. From the moment we approached the bar, the bartender, Gabriella ("Gabby"), was dismissive and noticeably rude. She ignored us, even though we were clearly waiting to order, yet she was extremely quick and friendly with the two men beside us, even taking time to show them pictures on her phone before acknowledging us at all. When it was finally our turn, Gabby tried to charge me for drinks that were supposed to be free for Name Night and then acted irritated when I questioned it. I tipped on the first drink she actually served, but when she ignored us again & charged us incorrectly, my friend didn't tip on the second, but Gabby got hostile with me. She suddenly refused to serve me altogether, claiming I was "already drinking for free" and that she was "over it." Her tone and attitude were completely unprofessional. We told her great we are leaving and will go to the Rosie and she said no one is serving you. She also refused to acknowledge the Name Night eligibility of another woman in our group, insisting that "it's only first names and it's been like that forever," which has never been the policy in our experience. All that's ever been required is that the name matches the ID. Instead of explaining anything with basic courtesy, she walked away and talked negatively to the other bartender about us within earshot. What really stunned us was that although she refused to serve me, a Latina woman, she seemed perfectly comfortable continuing to serve a man who was clearly intoxicated, over served, and was literally slumped over the bar. As we were leaving, the male bartender called us stupid bitches in front of other patrons. Hearing that was humiliating, completely beyond the bounds of acceptable conduct, and something I've never experienced in any bar, anywhere!! Because The Front Porch and Roosevelt are connected, we weren't allowed into Rosie either, which made the whole situation even more frustrating. Gabby's behavior, attitude, and complete lack of professionalism reflect incredibly poorly on the establishment. If you're out to have a good night, I'd avoid her and the tip demanding pressure, disrespect, and poor service altogether. Customers deserve to feel welcomed, not belittled, dismissed, or not served because she's "over it". read more

If you like Bros and overcrowded rooms, this place is definitely for you. It's kind of on the smaller side and reminds me a little bit of the bars that you would find in New York. The drinks are average. The crowd is average. There's a flip cup night where you have the potential to earn a free drink if you get heads or tails correctly. I forget which night it is, but that is something that exists here. I don't know. I only come here when a friend suggests that they want to come here and we really don't know what to do. The Front Porch is a clean and aesthetic bar that has a bunch of cool events. This includes flip night which is on every Wednesday where the patron can choose heads or tails when they order a drink. If they are correct, the drink is free. Incorrect, and they pay for the drink. What is there to lose?! The Front Porch also picks 3-5 names every night besides Wednesday and if your name is on that date, you drink for free all night (please remember to tip appropriately)! Came here for my name day! I absolutely loved it! It's chill, laid back, and (at least when I went) there wasn't a huge party crowd. I think the concept of name day is awesome. I highly recommend following them on instagram to see the upcoming names. Surprisingly there aren't a lot of bars open in downtown after 10-11 pm. This place was only a few blocks from where we were staying (The Curtis) so we decided to stop by and have a drink. Pretty crowded at the time we arrived (around 11:30 pm), and it took an alarming amount of time to get two drinks, but that's not too uncommon. We got a Spicy Margarita and a Jalapeño Moscow Mule. They have a lot of different varieties of Moscow Mules, which is cool, but there are extremely iced down; however, in spite of that, both drinks seem to be pretty strong. My partner had already gotten a free drink for name night and then was declined by a different bartender bc their name didn't match exactly - they're nonbinary and haven't legally changed their name, but their name is often shortened to what what advertised for name night, and that is what they go by (and is on their socials) and that was why we went. They were told they had to pay for the drink bc the bartender had already made it, even though they were not informed that they wouldn't credit them for name night as the other bartender had. The issue is not that they couldn't get a free drink, it was the open transphobia (the bartender looked disgusted when I explained the issue to him and rolled his eyes at my partner.) When I confronted the bartender and told him why he was being transphobic, he tried to have us kicked out. Looking at their other google reviews, they're pretty racist as well. The bar tenders were friendly and helped us quickly. On any other night, make sure to check the calendar on their website, if your name is on it you drink on that night for free! On flip night, you flip a coin and if you call it correctly your drinks are $.50. Unfortunately I landed on the wrong side of the flips tonight, and drinks are not cheap! $12 for a gin and soda was a little surprising, especially since the drink was mostly ice and light on the gin. We got here around 8pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't very busy at this point. We were able to grab a table and order drinks directly from the bar. My husband asked for a spicy moscow mule and it was amazing. Definite jalapeño kick, which made it a slow sipping drink. I got a traditional moscow mule, which was just that, a traditional moscow mule. Nothing super fancy. I really liked the design of the place and the ambiance. There was nostalgic music playing in the background taking me back to high school or middle school. My group loved it. Drinks were not terribly expensive in comparison to drinks in other areas of town, like LoHi. We spent $50 for two moscow mules and then two Woodford Reserves neat. The only con of this bar is that there is not a ton of space to sit and it feels like a lot of space is wasted. Plan on standing in a circle with your friends when you go! Since most people do stand at the bar 3-4 people deep, which makes it hard for those who do have tables or are sitting at the couches to get through the masses and order a drink. read more
