I don't get why people give this place such poor reviews based on their selling experiences - if the employee doesn't buy your clothes, for gosh sake don't take it so personally. They are mostly label whores and into the whole hipster look, also, so keep that in mind if you're planning to sell. They bought a lacoste bag, an oilily sweater, and a very hipster-y looking dress, for ~$40 in store credit - not bad, considering I was planning to just donate all that stuff. Of course, they didn't buy a whole bag of other things - including a Fendi purse - but whatever, that's their choice. They only have so much floor room, so it's totally understandable that they are choosy in what they'll buy. I thought the store was fine. Buying clothes there is pretty cheap too. read more

I've seen some weird ass shit or worn down crap sold here. Like really? You take this? I tried selling my clothes here and they were rejected. I had some new clothes in style with tags, some nice dresses, brand name coats, and some never worn heels. I never really bought things here. Maybe a pair of shoes and a purse and thats it despite coming here for 5 years. I realized that their stuff isn't that cheap. Why am I paying $15 for a worn no name shirt when the style is similar to f21's for about the same price? And to think that they buy it off sellers for an extremely low price and charge so much for their shoppers. Mehhhh. read more

I hadn't been to Crossroads for years and came here the other day thinking it would be worth seeing what I'd get for a once-worn Anthropologie dress from last summer and a brand new (tags on) dress from H&M that I could no longer return. Customer service was a mixed bag... I was greeted in a sort of "why do I have to deal with this" way by one salesgirl and waved toward a sign in list. I shopped around for a while before I was called. The salesgirl (a second one) who reviewed my items was nice enough, but I didn't have the feeling that I got a great deal (I'm 99% sure she didn't know one of the dresses was an Anthro dress). Also, the registers were acting up, so I offered to come back in a few minutes once I'd finished browsing. A third person rung me up. When I mentioned to him that I'd left my driver's license with salesgirl #2, he said "oh, it's just in the bag," referring to the bag of unaccepted clothes that he'd left just sitting on the counter unattended... yikes. OK but not great experience. I'd go back, but not in a hurry and not with high expectations. read more

I am really rather ambivalent about CTC, truly mixed feelings. I sold some items here, although most of what I took was rejected even though they were great brands and in excellent condition (some even had original tags on them)?! Whatever. I subsequently took my store credit and bought some of their NEW clothes. There's a small selection at the front of the store. After taking them home and wearing them BRIEFLY, the clothes started falling apart. I mean, they became self-destructive; buttons falling off, pilling on sweaters, holes appearing out of nowhere... And when they were washed, they lost at least 2 sizes. Yikes! Furthermore, the security sensors on the clothes made holes in the t-shirty materials, some of them large and easily visible. What, what? Of course, I returned them within the week and again got store credit. I then repeated the process described in the first paragraph and, again, the clothing fell apart! I feel like I'm now in a 'Do' loop. I have provided 3 stars because I 1) am giving them the benefit of the doubt for the crummy clothes, and 2) have not purchase any of their used clothing and so have no opinion there. Unfortunately I still have store credit and so will return (to the Twilight Zone?). read more

I'm lucky there are 2 Crossroads (here and College) so close by. I buy and sell there a lot, and have never had a bad experience. I love to treasure hunt and you never know what you will find there--I've found tons of high-end jeans, and boutiquey cool clothes there, as well as Anthropologie stuff for very low prices for the quality you get. I always get "trade" when I sell so I can feed my clothes lust pretty painlessly here. You can't take it personally when they don't take your clothes to sell--depending on the buyer, that part can be erratic, but it's worth it to me since I can get such great stuff there! The staff is friendly and always says hello--I have no desire to go back to the mall after shopping at Crossroads for a fraction of the price, for unique, excellent-condition used clothing. read more

Totally not a fan. The store was clean but had a funky smell. Didn't buy anything just went to sell some items. Brought in about 10 pairs of shoes, jeans, skirts, tops, & a couple of purses. There was 2 girls buying & perhaps I would have had better luck if I had reviewed my items with the other girl. Told me my things weren't current enough. Interesting because I was just at DSW twice last week (Dublin & Brentwood, awesome!) & pretty sure a pair of Steve Madden's I wore once & were trying to sell were there (not current, huh?). Guess it's just not my cup of tea. Ended up donating all my items to the Hospice of East Bay Thrift Store for probably a better deal on my taxes than what I would have received from Crossroads anyways, plus now I don't feel butt hurt anymore cause I did something good. read more

Had a great experience at this Crossroads location. Brought in a fair amount of clothing and sold way more than I expected, and got about $40 for a handful of items. My friends were able to sell a good amount of their clothing as well, and the staff were all really friendly. And if you can't sell any of your items at Crossroads, Buffalo Exchange might take them. read more

Personally, I was not thrilled with the service at this Crossroads. The employees were extremely irritable and unhelpful - I was trying on a number of things and making several trips in and out of the dressing room, and with each trip the attendant grew less friendly and more irritated. She even came close to re-shelving several items that I had specifically put on the "hold" rack. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but the lack of congeniality really put me off. I also agree with the other reviewers' comments about the poor quality of items here - there were a number of things that I liked but couldn't buy because they were either stained or ripped or had some other flaw. However, despite these setbacks I will say that I liked the way the store was organized (very easy to navigate, not too crowded or messy like some of the other Crossroads stores). Plus, I still ended up walking out the door with two bags full of clothes that I love, at a great price (less than $200...and considering that there were some pretty expensive labels in there, I think that's pretty good!) read more

I love Crossroads been coming here for years to sell my clothes. Today however is a bit of a issue. I got here and there 5 people in front of me...cool I know I'm going to have to wait an hours tops they said No problem... well it's been almost 2 hours, and what's is bothering me is they have 1 person buying clothes, 1 person reading something on a computer for training I assume but REALLY at a register. The one girl that's buying keeps getting interrupted by people who want to do drop off, they really should have another person doing that. I don't like giving bad reviews but this is ridiculous. They are very kind and say thanks for your patience but come on don't help people who just came in and leave those who have been sitting here for hours. Now there is someone literally doing an interview at the counter, some girl walked in and asked if they were hiring.. and she went into full interview mode .... Um hello we are waiting!!! Not happy with this visit. I will like to add that when I was finally helped the girl that helped me was amazing, I know it's not always the employees fault but the fault of the company. As a seller, I had such a good experience here. I looked online to see the clothes they were looking for, as they only buy clothes in season. However for men's apparel, they buy anything all year long because their men's section is tiny compared to their women's section! I brought in 2 huge bags full of clothes and shoes. There was an hour long wait, but I kept myself busy by looking around the store. It's full of one of a kind pieces, and it's organized by size and style. I was tempted to buy this beautiful maxi dress, but I had to tell myself, "no Kristina! You're here to make money, not spend it!" So I sat myself down in their little waiting area until my name was called. I had a good conversation with the woman who was buying my clothes. She was super kind and answered any questions I had. Shout out to you, woman with the glasses, short hair and bangs! I ended up getting a good $96.73 out of everything I brought. So much more than I expected! I'd prefer Crossroads over Plato's Closet any day! read more

Is this place kidding me? I speak for not only myself but at least two other shoppers as we all looked at each other like "wth" and proceeded to talk about how the store employees are downright rude. The two girls doing the fitting rooms today either have no shame or are completely oblivious that they are blatantly talking about customers- they even run to each other and whisper like kids. They are not nice at all, and at least one other employee had also had an attitude to my face. When I gave it right back it kind of set them straight. Is this the store culture? Or are they mad because perhaps they are underpaid, which I would find hard to believe because this is one of the most expensive second hand stores of this level I have ever seen. This was my first place I have ever sold my clothes at, and going in i knew that they only bought "trendy" fashion. So I brought many brand name items that were in great condition and still considered trendy - some stuff I brought were my favorite items I just did not wear as much anymore. I really wish I took down the name of the lady who assisted me because she was HORRIBLE! I told her it was my first time here, and the only thing she explained to me is that they buy clothes that are still in style. She went through all 3 bags of the clothes I brought, only choose 3 items. When she chose those items NOT ONCE did she explain to me around how much I would be getting for it. She just immediately put a plastic security thing on it and threw it in some pile. She did not explain to me what was happening and I was so confused. She took a few of my favorite brand name shirts and in the end i only got a couple dollars for it. If I known that I would have just asked for my stuff back!! I brought in a few jeans, and high waisted shorts too (Levi, pac sun brands) and she told me she cannot take them because they do not take in small sizes because they are hard to sell. That made me feel so uncomfortable about my own body size, like I did not belong? She said it so rude! The sizes ranged from 0-3... I did not ever think that was considered "not sellable" . I also had this black H&M dress I only wore once recently, and they did not take it. I wasn't too mad until I saw hideous dresses everywhere from H&M/ forever 21/ random brands THAT WERE NOT IN STYLE!! I just feel like they buy items from people that they personally want to buy items from. I expected so much better from this place. I don't recommend this place to anyone! DON'T COME HERE!!!! After my horrible experience, I went to Buffalo Exchange nearby to see if they'd take my other stuff - and they were amazing! I left feeling better about myself, and made way more money there. They actually admire your items, and take time to explain to you why/why not they want to buy the item from you. They were so friendly, and I will definitly just go to Buffalo Exchange next time. read more

An associate by the name of NUBIA was very rude to me. She had a very sarcastic tone with me for what reason I don't know. No staff wanted to help me because they were all too busy worried about closing the store early. When I asked Nubia for help she didn't seem like she wanted to be bothered with me at all. I use to shop here three to four times a month and I would spend a lot of money. I stopped shopping here when the employees started following me around like I was a criminal. I'm guessing that this was racially motivated. Which really sucks, because this was one of my favorite places to shop. You can find great clothes for low prices. What a dump! Crossroads has a prime position on Shattuck ave so they must be doing well selling super casual boring clothes to students with a high tuition. This Is not just a case of a disgruntled seller, although its true, i came in with a huge bag of barely worn contemporary clothes. None were purchased and when I left the girl I had been sitting next to, bought two blouses she liked from me! I went to Buffalo Exchange and th e buyer was much more creative and insightful. She bought a lot for about 200.00 perhaps she would have bought more if two women who had 8 boxxes of athletic shoes had never sold before and literally harassed in loud voices the buyer for about an hour, both before and during my selling with her. They held up everyone rlse also who was waiting patiently! Customers can call ahead to learn more about the buying process, they are great on the phone and very patient obviously in the store. Certainly more than I would be! That buyer deserved an award! read more

I've never had any problems with this Crossroads, they have super cute clothes for cheap and every time I sell clothes here I do pretty well and I don't even have that many cute clothes to sell when I come here. The best luck you'll get with selling something are probably jeans and shoes. read more

Crossroads is def not a vintage store, (which are my favorites) so I'm not sure why other reviewers commented on it being as such. Also they cater to (as explained to me) a college community, which explains the forever 21 explosion and mini-me sizes that abound the store. That being said, I'm over a size 10 and found some awesome deals there, and had a great overall experience as a seller, and a customer. But I guess know what you are walking into? First selling. Selling your clothing can be weird. Right? Its weird. Someone judging you, and your choices. But I walked away wanting to ask the girl for her number. Like I wanted her to be my newest gal pal. She talked with me like we had known each other forever, and made me feel completely at ease. She passed on everything I brought in, but was very clear in her explanations, explained the phenomenon "pilling" to me, and recommended other stores that my vintage dresses could find a better home in. She answered all my questions (all of them, including the history of her unusual two word name, intrusive I'm sure, but I was curious!) and then some all while being interrupted constantly by someone who I believe MUST have been on drugs asking about how much a pair of Nike's would translate in cash. So... that must be a fun aspect of the job, and based on her ease with that conversation I'm guessing its a daily occurrence. Now as a customer. Looked around, I do wish things were organized in size, it would make things WAY less frustrating. But still managed to find some great stuff. The dress section in HUGE. Went to the dressing room, and the same girl that attempted to buy from me helped me into a room. A very small room. I feel like that aspect of the store could of been better designed. Its Berkeley. People smell here. They just do. Larger rooms with more air flow would of been great. So checkout. I found a super cute dress, a pair of wooden heels, and a super awesome leather bag. My only complaint is the loudness of the cashier. Like shouting loud. Effervescent sure, but my god she was shouting at me at the top of her lungs. My low key energy cannot handle that level of enthusiasm. Settle down girl, settle down. In summary, Crossroads is a great place to go to buy things you saw three months ago but thought was too exspensive. For real, a dress I talked myself out of was here for half the price! And its a place to sell before you drop off at Goodwill, give it a try, see how far you can stretch your dollar! So I will be back. For sure. read more

Usually I like Crossroads. I occasionally come across cool handbags and accesories there as well as nice T Shirts. Hoever teh jean selection for anyone over size 12 sucks. Bought a pair of Baby Phat jeans there once that I ended up not ever wearing and tried to sell back, and the sales girl was very snotty while declining. Then, they tried to lowball me about a designer dress I wanted to sell! They only wanted to offer 45, which if you regular sale will only leave you with about 15-20 dollars. I had to ask them about the Consigment option which at first they didn't even attempt to offer, and stated my dress prob would not sell if it was too high. I chose it anyway. I put down the price I wanted and the dress, as I knew it would, sold in less than a day. I work in fashion retail too so I knew better then to listen to them, their pricing training was off. But it got a bit better when after they called and left me a message to pick up my check, I go to the location the next day ( as stated in message) only to find out they closed up shop early! No sign etc. as to reason why, just closed door and closed sign. I called from outside just to make sure they indeed were closed ( because the lights were on and I saw employees milling around inside) and again one of their "winner" staff informed me yes, they were closed early, come back tomorrow. This location needs a serious inprovement in customer service, don't think I will shop at this store again. Visit another Crossroads or check out the other stores around, especially if you are wishing to consign something trendy, in season and designer as here you will get lowballed. read more

After struggling with a good place to consign clothing in the East Bay (I went to Main St. Rags in Walnut Creek and had a bad experience), I decided to come here. While it's a good 20 minutes from Pleasant Hill, it was WELL worth coming here to get rid of tons of clothes. There is no limit on how many pieces can be sold, like there is at the majority of consignment shops. I brought in about 100 items including shoes, jeans, tops, and dresses. I can't remember the woman's name who looked through all of my items but she was nice and very fair. She bought 90% of what I brought in and told me that the items she didn't take were because they're out of season. The clothes I brought in were mostly used and in good condition, some new with tags. I will definitely come back here to avoid the snobby-ness of Main Street Rags. read more

I'm a girl on a budget. A serious budget I must say. So I either go to Ross or Target for my new clothes and used to buy used clothes at Out of the Closet and Goodwill. But then I discovered Crossroads and fell in love. I can get better styles than available new to me at Ross and Target and a better selection and (gasp but true)PRICE! about 90% of the time than I can find at Out of the Closet or Goodwill. I can easily find blouses in the $8 range. Plus a fair amount of plus size items. read more

wow this crossroads is huge and organized! i'm used to smaller crappier ones in the south bay. but maybe because this one is located right next to cal, tons of spoiled college students sell their clothes here but their shoe selection was better than any other crossroads and the like! if you are patient and shift through the clothes you'll find a few great items as well. but the shoes!! they have so many and even more in the back near the men's section! read more

I really like Crossroads. I go to the one on Shattuck and the one on Market in SF. As far as the men's clothes, I've gotten some excellent clothes there. I've also gone in there, and found nothing. With crossroads, it takes patience. For men's stuff, they tend to have nice pants, jeans, button ups and cool hoodies. My last visit, I found some beautiful black on black pinstripe Versace pants for 28 bucks. Not bad. You kind of have to go back every once in awhile to see what's in stock, sometimes you'll leave empty handed, other times you'll score! The people who work there are pretty low key and mellow, which I prefer. read more

Came here this weekend and shopped around, found a few things and headed to the fitting rooms. That's when I was helped by one of the employees tending the fitting room... by helped I mean awkwardly stared at.. Then he took all my items and just started hanging each one onto the other like a chain n put it on the rack...lol? Gave me a number, took some off for me to try on and brought me to my room. After I tried those on I went back to him to trade out some items, and try on the ones I had to leave there. I went to give him the ones I didn't want and asked for my other ones and he says If you can find them! And I said what? And he said If you can find them I don't know where they are! So I had to go to the rack n look for the ones I had to leave there... wtf.. doesn't try looking for me, so weird. I find them & go back to the room I was in... 5 seconds later he comes barging down the door on me and I slammed it shut and said someone's in here! He never said a thing back, no oops/sorry.. nothing! I have found some very charming clothes here, but every time I go in it is a toss-up. My chief complaint, however, is that I wish they would organize things by size and not by color. They do organize dresses by size, as well as pants and skirts, but why do they not organize women's tops this way? I hate wasting my time sifting through everything, finding cute things only to discover to my chagrin that they are the wrong size. Yesterday, I came by this clothing store on the way to dinner. I've never heard of crossroads before, and i was surprised to find a variety of clothes for verrry low prices. (EX: a pair of seven jeans for 25$...) it took me to realize that these clothes had all been recycled and were used clothes i think the concept is a good idea, but i ran across several of problems in this store 1. a lot of clothes, but hardly any that i would wear. after searching for about 45 minutes, i found 1 top that i would even consider wearing. 2. the service is pretty horrible. the workers at the store ignore you as you walk in and continue with their own conversations. they walk around as if they are superior...which obviously they're not or they wouldn't be working there. as i was trying to get into the dressing room, the lady that i talked to was very cold and rude. she asked me how many i had, so i told her, and she kept bustling through my clothes to make sure i wasn't lying. Very suspicious and in a way that was kind of disrespectful. 3. as i left the store, i realized that this could be a place where i could get rid of old clothes that don't fit. so i visited the website and reviews and heard that you only get about 30% of what they plan to sell your clothes for, and they are often very picky in accepting clothes to sell...BOO. if i return, i don't plan to look around for a long time, and will certainly not show friendliness or courtesy to the workers that are not capable of showing a little bit of respect or hospitality. read more
