REVIEW EDIT: This is in response to the comment I got from the Crossroads business management account. It is clear that this business is not customer forward and has NOT taken my review seriously or done anything to change it. My main grievance with my interaction at this location was not the fact that they passed on buying clothing but that the sales associates were awful. They were rude, unhelpful, and created a very negative and unwelcoming atmosphere. There was no greetings as we arrived, mixed communication with how to sell, attitude in response to me answering simple questions, sales associates yelling across the room to give each other water bottles, so much more. I'm writing this review solely as a consumer. We didn't sell anything to them so I can't speak on that at all. We are from out of town and we decided to spend a night away thrifting and eating good food! This place did not disappoint. First of all this place is really large with a great organized selection! I typically have a hard time finding jeans that fit well because I'm so short but I went right over to the size 34 rack and boom found two Levi's 34/29 and in my favorite style (505). I also found a few shirts to try on. We went over to the women's section and my partner found a few things to try on as well. The woman working at the fitting rooms was really nice and accommodating. We had a lot going on and she was really patient with us. We left with 3 pairs of jeans a sweatshirt and an over shirt for 125 dollars total. Overall we were really happy and will be back but I only gave 4 stars because I did feel like they were a little on the pricey side. Most things we looked at were 20-30 dollars which I don't mind for jeans but is a little high for shirts. read more

I've enjoyed selling here quite a bit. Yeah you don't make a ton but that's not the point. I like that my high quality clothes get a chance to be enjoyed by someone else in a fun environment. This location in particular is very picky though. They often only take about half my items and since I drive over the bridge to go here I always stop at the College location after. That location usually takes the rest that this location denies lol. You'll make a ton more selling on Poshmark but that alway requires a lot more work. I don't have the patience to shop here myself. The options for women are cheap and good well quality for higher prices. the selling process is a hot mess they allow in line check to be first served so walk in is super long and not worth the wait. I dont know why i expect there system to be better. I have fabulous options for selling women's clothes but not many options for selling women's clothes so i'm gonna just give away to salvation army or other places cuz this place os a waste of valuable time and they never give you what h your brand new with tagged items are worth. read more

This was my first time trying to sell. My wife had a bunch of new or barely worn items, so I figured Crossroads might be better than donating. First stop: College Ave -- completely closed, no heads-up. Had to reroute to Shattuck. Checked in, but the app never texted me like they said it would. I waited from 11 to 1, just sitting there with huge bags. Total payout? $52 instead of the $87 I thought. I was too drained to even ask questions -- just took the cash and left. The whole experience gave me DMV flashbacks, but with people trying to hustle me in the waiting area. One guy even asked me to go outside so he could "see what I brought." Nope. Honestly, it was exhausting. I ended up driving to Salvation Army to donate the rest. If you're thinking about selling -- maybe just donate or use Poshmark if you have the time and energy. read more

I brought in very high-end gothic clothing and shoes to sell, and the staff only took one skirt -- the exact same skirt I tried to sell them last time, which they previously passed on. Their choices seem inconsistent and frustrating. The staff was okay but not super helpful, and overall the experience felt like a waste of time. Crossroads Trading really only cares about brands that are convenient for them, not about quality or style. 90% of the time they'll pass on perfectly good, high-quality pieces and say "we're gonna pass on it" with a sarcastic tone that feels pretty demeaning to anyone trying to sell. It's honestly discouraging ,a store shouldn't make people feel like they have to do extensive research just to sell a few items. There's a reason their rating sits at a 3, and it'll keep dropping if they don't rethink their grading process and attitude. Never recommending this place to anyone. I have sold my clothes at this location 4 times now and have had positive interactions at every single visit. Wait times are definitely high at this location so please be aware that it will usually take 1-2 hours before your clothes will be looked through. I wanted to specifically recognize Baja. She has been my assigned buyer for 2 of my visits and is nothing short of spectacular. She is extremely transparent with the reasonings behind why some of my clothing was rejected, and also had a great attitude. Overall, I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to sell their clothes or also shop - they have a great selection! Just be mindful that it may take some time for your clothes to be looked at, so plan on grabbing a coffee or something while you wait! read more

Over an hour wait as well and they never sent a text when it was our turn! In fact they said they would and never did ! Large well organized selection in downtown Berkeley. The boutique items were nicely highlighted and there was s good variety in the store. One person buying and two sales people at the counter but the line was slow. Prices were discounted but not the best value for these brands of second hand merchandise. I waited initially and was supposed to sell clothes to make room for storage space. However, the indifference and lack of operational "know how" on managing wait time is too egregious. I always underestimate what a time suck this place is. I have had my drop off sell bags lost, cashiers lose my sell credit, and a much longer wait than listed on the app. The staff have been fine, but always seem short staffed, distracted, or too overwhelmed to help. Took 1hr and 15mins before my items could be looked through (on a Sunday). The staff seems overwhelmed and disinterested. Was surprised what they wanted and what they didn't as well. Some of the amounts are so crazy low too. That's great you don't want to change too much for something (and then want to pay me way way less though). I typically come to sell here and the wait is always long which I understand. However the most recent time I came I joined the online queue and physically came in when I received the text. Well I sat there for another 40 minutes and finally they called my name up to help me at 7:53 right before closing, mind you I joined the online queue at #4 in line around 6 pm. The buyer offered me to do a drop off sell because they were closing, but why couldn't they offer this at 7 when I had been waiting and they realized they wouldn't be able to help me before closing? Then I came back to pick up my items just now and they were all thrown in and mixed in with shoes in the bag. I had my things placed in 4 really large bags, which the buyer placed in their large black bag at the time I dropped off. I had the shoes in a separate bag to not touch the clothes (this should be common sense). Usually, when you go in person to sell they place the clothes they don't take back in the bags you brought right away. Why didn't they do it for the drop off? So I'm standing there trying to fold my clothes and put them back in my bags, and there's two employees standing around not offering to help and just looking at me like I'm crazy for folding my clothes and putting them away- When this is something they should (and typically do) themselves . They should have at least offered to help, or offered me to use one of their open empty counter tops so I had space to put my things away instead of holding up their line, but their customer service is off and they didn't do this. I never write bad reviews but c'mon, do better please. I've never had this bad of a selling experience at any crossroads before. You guys should be putting in more effort into making sellers want to come back, that's how your whole store operates!! Without sellers, what clothes do you have to sell? Please put in more effort to make the selling experience more welcoming. read more

The buyers here are typically not knowledgeable with the exception of maybe two. The wait time is usually long so put your name on the wait list ahead of time. I'm a thrift seller who often has inventory to let go of so I take it there. I've come in with hauls of really nice vintage pieces and great deadstock pieces and had their buyers reject all for something like an Asos top or an H&M top. so they might prefer fast fashion at this location. I stopped frequenting this location for buying inconsistencies. They just don't know what they're doing sometimes. read more

Just happened to find this huge thrift store while wandering around Berkeley. Glad I decided to pop in! The huge glass storefront lets you know what's waiting for you inside. What won me over was their organization skills. Seriously, they make it so easy find everything and there's plenty of space to walk around and browse. Shoes are organized by size. They're not thrown into a huge pile. You can check them out on several shelves... a couple of size 8s here, more size 8s there, a row of 7.5s keeping to themselves... also each style is very unique! Whatever's donated or featured feels like it's one-of-a-kind and a definite gem of a find. The clothes are organized by size and color, which I really appreciated. I tend to just stick to dark colors so seeing the whole rainbow wheel nicely pushed me out of my comfort zone.... into a light gray t-shirt. Hey, baby steps. Prices are reasonable from $5 and on sale, to expensive name brands and high end clothes (many pinned to the walls so you know how out of reach the pricing is haha). You can sell your stuff here as well. Friendly staff, keep to themselves but readily available if you have questions. And yup, there are dressing rooms. I just knew my shirt and me were meant to be, so I didn't go in one. Come on downtown to Berkeley and see what's in store. Oh, and they're currently hiring! read more

It's even more frustrating when there's one person and there's a line and you always see more than 1 staff member just hanging out in the front twiddling their thumbs. Every.time. It's been a 45-60 min of a wait the half dozen times I've come to sell clothes. They only buy back the current season and at times they've taken a ton, they've also passed up some great pieces; just depends on the buyer. Overall, it'd be a higher rating if they actually valued their customers and staffed with one more buyer. You get on a waiting list via an in-house iPad. Today there's about four people ahead of me. While waiting I take a gander of items. I honestly don't see anything I'd buy. The prices for gently used clothes really are not much cheaper than going to Macy's. After 20 minutes its my turn. The store manager set me up. Opening an account is easy. Picture ID and we're ready. Do yourself a favor and do not sell clothes here! I've been selling here off and on for over ten years and have never had a good experience. First off, they take 30% of what THEY deem your clothes are worth. I've sold a whole bag of clothes that were in excellent shape and reputable brands, only to walk away with $30-40 and to feel cheated. This wouldn't be so bad if they had good customer service. No, always with the pretentious attitude. Why because you think you work in "fashion"? Please, you're a glorified Salvation Army. The other day I went to pick my funds and the remaining items. They hardly took anything, no big deal, and asked if I could change my mind and donate the remaining items. They straight said no with a very sad reason, then suggested that I go hand them out to homeless people on the street. Not only that, she basically said no one is looking for the style of clothes I was selling. I never asked why they didn't buy more, but was offered that nugget for the road. This is my first time back at this location in about 2 years as I usually go to the location in Oakland. I was pleasantly surprised with the great selection of clothing as the space to move around while shopping. I typically come to sell and I've never found anything that I've wanted, but today I chose trade credit and walked out with 2 pairs of shirts and a barely used pair of heels that were held off. I didn't spend anything! It's a really good trade off in my opinion. I love the organization based in categories as well. If I need dresses, I'll look at dresses. I'm undergoing a wardrobe change, and there were plenty of cute, business casual items that I would definitely wear outside of work. Plenty of the items with regular merchant tags on them as well but for much less than they're be sold in the actual store. The variety is great for clothing. I'm giving a four star review due to some of the sweaters and other items I've seen in the store with piling, or a stain on it. I get that some things are overlooked mistakenly, but those items were definitely not resell-able quality. If anything, they should have been at least half off. Aside from that i will still be back. I found really good things. As a recovering shopping addict, it was hard to not purchase items with my actual money. read more

This review is mostly for selling clothes! The store itself is well-stocked with tons of mostly casual options for men and women. A few nice name brand items have shown up on the racks the dozen times I've been to the store, but I have a feeling most high end luxury products aren't quite right for the college crowd. I have had mostly positive experiences at the store. It is usually clean enough, though I have definitely seen the racks look like a tornado blew through. The buyers are usually pretty friendly and keep a straight-face even if some of the pieces they see might be like "WTF, seriously..??" They're usually pretty fast too, which I can appreciate because the line to sell can definitely get pretty long. The worst was when I had to wait about 50 minutes before it was my turn and I left with $7 just enough to pay for parking!! Womp - fail whale. BUT usually I have had a decent success rate with my items, so have come back to sell a bunch of times. Apparently now there's a Crossroads Trading app so you can check in to sell before you even arrive...definitely will check that out!! read more

Luckily, they text you when it's your turn, so you're free to leave in between. They only took one item (corduroy pants), and I left with $6. If you just keep your head down and don't ask questions, don't try anything on, don't try to sell real designer clothes, don't bring in friends of color, and definitely don't get in their way anytime near closing time, you will have a fun experience with cool and moderately priced fashion! Really upsetting, I brought in a top from the ss 14 Givenchy line, specifically a silk top from the Tribal & Robot prints by creative director Riccardo Tisci. I was told this top was racist, implying I was racist for having it, and the buyer said they wouldn't want to work in a store where something like this was allowed to hang. Maybe this doesn't hang in the Berkeley Crossroads, but it, along with a number of other high fashion pieces I brought in (from Gucci to Raff Simon to Rick Owns uyu), do hang in the closets of people who we celebrate for their breadth of knowledge when it comes to the elements of style that make up an ensemble. read more
