Shout out to the Crossroads Berkeley location on Shattuck. The store is spacious, well-organized, and easy to shop. Unlike some resale stores where the racks are crammed together, there's actually room to browse and look through the inventory comfortably. A huge plus is that you can join the selling waitlist from your phone before arriving. My tip: wait until there are only a couple of people ahead of you before heading over so you don't spend extra on parking. I've also sold at the College Avenue location and found Shattuck to be a much better experience overall. Parking was easier, the store felt less crowded, and I thought the men's selection was noticeably stronger. There are lots of consignment options these days, but I received a good amount in store credit for my son's clothes and left happy. I'll definitely be back. read more

Crossroads Trading - Crossroads Trading on Shattuck Ave. - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - Berkeley, California

I used to love coming here, and now I find it pretentious and way over priced! They also seem really out of touch with styles and what is trending, and so close to Berkeley High and CAL, they could really sell so much more if they had a pulse on what was happening and trending online with regards to used clothing. They also do NOT know how to recognize Vintage items that are worth $$$, I imagine they're loosing a lot of business to Depop on other cheaper used clothing sites. Breaks my heart, but will not be wasting my time here anymore! read more

I'm writing this review solely as a consumer. We didn't sell anything to them so I can't speak on that at all. We are from out of town and we decided to spend a night away thrifting and eating good food! This place did not disappoint. First of all this place is really large with a great organized selection! I typically have a hard time finding jeans that fit well because I'm so short but I went right over to the size 34 rack and boom found two Levi's 34/29 and in my favorite style (505). I also found a few shirts to try on. We went over to the women's section and my partner found a few things to try on as well. The woman working at the fitting rooms was really nice and accommodating. We had a lot going on and she was really patient with us. We left with 3 pairs of jeans a sweatshirt and an over shirt for 125 dollars total. Overall we were really happy and will be back but I only gave 4 stars because I did feel like they were a little on the pricey side. Most things we looked at were 20-30 dollars which I don't mind for jeans but is a little high for shirts. read more

I think that this place is really well run: Clean space and feel, well organized and good shopping atmosphere. A bit in the expensive side for thrifting (between 15-45 dollars for items) but otherwise, highly recommend if you are looking to get quality finds spending a little money. read more

REVIEW EDIT: This is in response to the comment I got from the Crossroads business management account. It is clear that this business is not customer forward and has NOT taken my review seriously or done anything to change it. My main grievance with my interaction at this location was not the fact that they passed on buying clothing but that the sales associates were awful. They were rude, unhelpful, and created a very negative and unwelcoming atmosphere. There was no greetings as we arrived, mixed communication with how to sell, attitude in response to me answering simple questions, sales associates yelling across the room to give each other water bottles, so much more. What are you actually doing to take my comment seriously and put customer service first? I'd like to know. read more

I've enjoyed selling here quite a bit. Yeah you don't make a ton but that's not the point. I like that my high quality clothes get a chance to be enjoyed by someone else in a fun environment. This location in particular is very picky though. They often only take about half my items and since I drive over the bridge to go here I always stop at the College location after. That location usually takes the rest that this location denies lol. You'll make a ton more selling on Poshmark but that alway requires a lot more work. I don't have the patience to shop here myself. Staff has always been friendly even when really busy read more

That's funny how they'll pay so little for your clothes (if you're lucky enough to sell anything), but everything they sell is expensive. Anyways, don't go there if you don't want to waste your time, this place is a complete joke. They will treat you like if you're selling them trashy clothes, such a snobby place. read more

I came in to sell two Nike sweaters along with a bag full of clothing. I had a photo of everything that I had placed inside the bag. They bought a few items include one of the Nike sweaters. When I got home I realized that the other Nike sweater was missing. I feel as though they stole my sweater because it wasn't in my bag, in my car, in my house, or anywhere on the ground of the store. This isn't the first time my items have been stolen by employees here. Very disappointed. Out of all of the staff the only friendly ones have been one of the Black women who was training an employee so maybe she's a manager, as well as one white woman. Everyone else gives such evil energy! As a highly intuitive psychic who does readings and workings as my full time career, there are definitely some low entities attached to some of the employees here. read more

Kinda threw me off the fact that as soon as i walked in i got told to leave my bag behind, but yet when im walking around the store a bunch of other costumers had their big ass bags with them. Weird. Felt racially profiled. read more

I really like this company. The staff is friendly and straight to the point. Great values, and I've always found fashionable items. This company motivates me to clear my closet See you next time. read more

The options for women are cheap and good well quality for higher prices. the selling process is a hot mess they allow in line check to be first served so walk in is super long and not worth the wait. I dont know why i expect there system to be better. I have fabulous options for selling women's clothes but not many options for selling women's clothes so i'm gonna just give away to salvation army or other places cuz this place os a waste of valuable time and they never give you what h your brand new with tagged items are worth. read more

This was my first time trying to sell. My wife had a bunch of new or barely worn items, so I figured Crossroads might be better than donating. First stop: College Ave -- completely closed, no heads-up. Had to reroute to Shattuck. Checked in, but the app never texted me like they said it would. I waited from 11 to 1, just sitting there with huge bags. Total payout? $52 instead of the $87 I thought. I was too drained to even ask questions -- just took the cash and left. The whole experience gave me DMV flashbacks, but with people trying to hustle me in the waiting area. One guy even asked me to go outside so he could "see what I brought." Nope. Honestly, it was exhausting. I ended up driving to Salvation Army to donate the rest. If you're thinking about selling -- maybe just donate or use Poshmark if you have the time and energy. read more

Way better inventory here than the College Avenue store. I haven't tried selling here but I found some reasonably priced high quality items that I purchased. Way more down to earth vibe here than the College Ave store. read more

I brought in very high-end gothic clothing and shoes to sell, and the staff only took one skirt -- the exact same skirt I tried to sell them last time, which they previously passed on. Their choices seem inconsistent and frustrating. The staff was okay but not super helpful, and overall the experience felt like a waste of time. If you're looking to sell unique or quality pieces, I wouldn't recommend bringing them here. read more

Definitely a No for selling ! Watched one of the associates casually just look and quality clothing and totally just say no to it. With no real rhyme or reason! Over an hour wait as well and they never sent a text when it was our turn! In fact they said they would and never did ! Totally rude and clearly they are not even giving you enough buck if it's only 30% for the value! Would truly just give clothes to charity and write it off! We actually ended up going to a competitor and getting half the clothes sold at a much better deal! Don't come here !!! read more

Purely for one service worker. Been here multiple times and never had such a terrible CHECK IN experience with Lexi. Don't come in thinking you can ask simple questions about the process because she will huff and puff, throw her hands up + give you immediate attitude. Yikes... However, everyone else is SO pleasant. She became absolutely disgusting from a single question. read more

I always underestimate what a time suck this place is. I have had my drop off sell bags lost, cashiers lose my sell credit, and a much longer wait than listed on the app. The staff have been fine, but always seem short staffed, distracted, or too overwhelmed to help. I've had a better experience shopping here than trying to sell, because you don't need to wait so long and deal with the overwhelmed staff. read more

Very unprofessional don't come too this location attitude s and waste of time ...they don't tell you when your clothes are ready like they should thru text read more

Such a waste of time. Saw me bring in 4 big ass boxes of shoes 90% of them brand new. Looked at 1 pair of pumas and said we can't take any of them....could've stopped me when you saw me walk in and said you weren't gonna take them. Wasted a whole hour waiting for a 2 min interaction. read more

I have sold my clothes at this location 4 times now and have had positive interactions at every single visit. Wait times are definitely high at this location so please be aware that it will usually take 1-2 hours before your clothes will be looked through. I wanted to specifically recognize Baja. She has been my assigned buyer for 2 of my visits and is nothing short of spectacular. She is extremely transparent with the reasonings behind why some of my clothing was rejected, and also had a great attitude. Overall, I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to sell their clothes or also shop - they have a great selection! Just be mindful that it may take some time for your clothes to be looked at, so plan on grabbing a coffee or something while you wait! read more

Large well organized selection in downtown Berkeley. The boutique items were nicely highlighted and there was s good variety in the store. One person buying and two sales people at the counter but the line was slow. Prices were discounted but not the best value for these brands of second hand merchandise. However, counter service was attentive and friendly. read more

Crossroads Trading really only cares about brands that are convenient for them, not about quality or style. 90% of the time they'll pass on perfectly good, high-quality pieces and say "we're gonna pass on it" with a sarcastic tone that feels pretty demeaning to anyone trying to sell. It's honestly discouraging ,a store shouldn't make people feel like they have to do extensive research just to sell a few items. There's a reason their rating sits at a 3, and it'll keep dropping if they don't rethink their grading process and attitude. Never recommending this place to anyone. Goodwill and Savers make this spot look like an indie "hate-the-rich" wasteland. read more

When we walked in we weren't sure how the process went. When we got to the register they handed us a ticket, said it would be an hour wait and they would text us when they're ready. We waiting almost two and no one called or texted me. LUCKILY it was after hours in Beto that I didn't have to PAY for parking. So I went up to the register and for 2 bag full of brand name clothes they offered us $20. What a joke as the items they sell there are overpriced. 0/10 would not recommend read more

Took 1hr and 15mins before my items could be looked through (on a Sunday). The staff seems overwhelmed and disinterested. Was surprised what they wanted and what they didn't as well. Some of the amounts are so crazy low too. That's great you don't want to change too much for something (and then want to pay me way way less though). Seriously, don't bother selling anything Patagonia or even be careful with selling Nike shoes and stuff like that too. Just a waste of time. Never never go to sell on the weekend! read more

I typically come to sell here and the wait is always long which I understand. However the most recent time I came I joined the online queue and physically came in when I received the text. Well I sat there for another 40 minutes and finally they called my name up to help me at 7:53 right before closing, mind you I joined the online queue at #4 in line around 6 pm. The buyer offered me to do a drop off sell because they were closing, but why couldn't they offer this at 7 when I had been waiting and they realized they wouldn't be able to help me before closing? Then I came back to pick up my items just now and they were all thrown in and mixed in with shoes in the bag. I had my things placed in 4 really large bags, which the buyer placed in their large black bag at the time I dropped off. I had the shoes in a separate bag to not touch the clothes (this should be common sense). Usually, when you go in person to sell they place the clothes they don't take back in the bags you brought right away. Why didn't they do it for the drop off? So I'm standing there trying to fold my clothes and put them back in my bags, and there's two employees standing around not offering to help and just looking at me like I'm crazy for folding my clothes and putting them away- When this is something they should (and typically do) themselves . They should have at least offered to help, or offered me to use one of their open empty counter tops so I had space to put my things away instead of holding up their line, but their customer service is off and they didn't do this. I never write bad reviews but c'mon, do better please. I've never had this bad of a selling experience at any crossroads before. You guys should be putting in more effort into making sellers want to come back, that's how your whole store operates!! Without sellers, what clothes do you have to sell? Please put in more effort to make the selling experience more welcoming. read more

So upset! I waited about 90 mins in line on a Sunday afternoon and brought an Ikea bag full of spring/summer clothes and they only accepted 2 things for $10.50. Just happened to find this huge thrift store while wandering around Berkeley. Glad I decided to pop in! The huge glass storefront lets you know what's waiting for you inside. What won me over was their organization skills. Seriously, they make it so easy find everything and there's plenty of space to walk around and browse. Shoes are organized by size. They're not thrown into a huge pile. You can check them out on several shelves... a couple of size 8s here, more size 8s there, a row of 7.5s keeping to themselves... also each style is very unique! Whatever's donated or featured feels like it's one-of-a-kind and a definite gem of a find. The clothes are organized by size and color, which I really appreciated. I tend to just stick to dark colors so seeing the whole rainbow wheel nicely pushed me out of my comfort zone.... into a light gray t-shirt. Hey, baby steps. Prices are reasonable from $5 and on sale, to expensive name brands and high end clothes (many pinned to the walls so you know how out of reach the pricing is haha). You can sell your stuff here as well. Friendly staff, keep to themselves but readily available if you have questions. And yup, there are dressing rooms. I just knew my shirt and me were meant to be, so I didn't go in one. Come on downtown to Berkeley and see what's in store. Oh, and they're currently hiring! read more

Crossroads Trading - Thriftiness on the racks and walls! Love it. - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - Berkeley, California

I don't buy clothes here, only sell, so take this in the opinion of a seller. They always have only 1 person buying, whether the line is 1 or 10 deep and it's so frustrating. It's even more frustrating when there's one person and there's a line and you always see more than 1 staff member just hanging out in the front twiddling their thumbs. Every.time. It's been a 45-60 min of a wait the half dozen times I've come to sell clothes. They only buy back the current season and at times they've taken a ton, they've also passed up some great pieces; just depends on the buyer. Overall, it'd be a higher rating if they actually valued their customers and staffed with one more buyer. Time is money, and when it takes an hour to make $30, sometimes I'd rather just donate. read more

WARNING: Several hours wait time to sell clothes. Sign outside in front of store that says no appointment and walk ins welcome - not true! Drove 20 miles in heavy traffic to be told there was a two hour wait to sell clothes. Was told I should have called to make an appt. Really? I never had to in the 20yrs I've done business with store! No drop offs or next day service as they did in COVID. Incredibly rude and condescending people that work there. I left the store after the very embarrassing and degrading encounter in front of everyone in the store. Customer service and respect is not practiced here. They had the nerve to tell me to go to another store. Brilliant! Hire people who are customer obsessed not obsessed with themselves and thrive on driving customers away with their passive aggressive behavior. No one needs to be treated like this especially driving far in traffic. Update: I got a text 5hrs later saying it was my turn to sell. Are you kidding me!!!??? Wow! Before you go don't!!! Never again!!! read more

I've got over 12 pairs of skinny jeans that are proudly too big for me. 7 for All Mankind, Lucky Brand, and Gap (selvage). I never thought to sell through a consignment shop, but here I am. You get on a waiting list via an in-house iPad. Today there's about four people ahead of me. While waiting I take a gander of items. I honestly don't see anything I'd buy. The prices for gently used clothes really are not much cheaper than going to Macy's. After 20 minutes its my turn. The store manager set me up. Opening an account is easy. Picture ID and we're ready. Jeans, two jackets, and a small Tumi bag. The choice was store credit or cash. Left with $110 in cash! read more

Do yourself a favor and do not sell clothes here! I've been selling here off and on for over ten years and have never had a good experience. First off, they take 30% of what THEY deem your clothes are worth. I've sold a whole bag of clothes that were in excellent shape and reputable brands, only to walk away with $30-40 and to feel cheated. This wouldn't be so bad if they had good customer service. No, always with the pretentious attitude. Why because you think you work in "fashion"? Please, you're a glorified Salvation Army. The other day I went to pick my funds and the remaining items. They hardly took anything, no big deal, and asked if I could change my mind and donate the remaining items. They straight said no with a very sad reason, then suggested that I go hand them out to homeless people on the street. Not only that, she basically said no one is looking for the style of clothes I was selling. I never asked why they didn't buy more, but was offered that nugget for the road. I've since sold the same items on Poshmark and Mercari for $200, and it took less time. Ask yourself, what is my time worth? read more

This is my first time back at this location in about 2 years as I usually go to the location in Oakland. I was pleasantly surprised with the great selection of clothing as the space to move around while shopping. I typically come to sell and I've never found anything that I've wanted, but today I chose trade credit and walked out with 2 pairs of shirts and a barely used pair of heels that were held off. I didn't spend anything! It's a really good trade off in my opinion. I love the organization based in categories as well. If I need dresses, I'll look at dresses. I'm undergoing a wardrobe change, and there were plenty of cute, business casual items that I would definitely wear outside of work. Plenty of the items with regular merchant tags on them as well but for much less than they're be sold in the actual store. The variety is great for clothing. I'm giving a four star review due to some of the sweaters and other items I've seen in the store with piling, or a stain on it. I get that some things are overlooked mistakenly, but those items were definitely not resell-able quality. If anything, they should have been at least half off. Aside from that i will still be back. I found really good things. As a recovering shopping addict, it was hard to not purchase items with my actual money. read more
