This shop just a stone's throw from the University and downtown Berkeley is an absolute gem of a find. Be forewarned however, blink and you'll miss it! The warm and modern decor is welcoming and a nice change from the vintage thrift store vibe. One side is men's and the other side is women's with racks of t-shirts and good quality sweatshirts blending in between. Lots of cool and quirky baseball caps line the top shelves with some vintage comic books and other vintage paraphanelia welcoming a good browse. Very nicely and carefully curated good quality pieces. So refreshing to stop by for a quick thrift stop while in town! read more

I'll be honest: I've been gatekeeping this place from my Berkeley friends for the past year. The store just opened up in 2021, and it's only gotten better with time. Paisley's collection is incredibly curated with a focus on 90s and Y2K styles, though there's still enough of a variety even if those aren't your favorite fashion eras. They also restock items every single day, which is very refreshing. The best part about Paisley Vintage is definitely the prices. I've been thrifting in the Berkeley area for a while now, and while other stores' collections are great, they're usually overpriced. Paisley's prices are great for the quality of the items; most of the items have gotten here have been under $25. The most expensive piece I've ever gotten from here was an amazing pair of Columbia ski pants--perfect fit, perfect condition for just $40-- that would've easily gone for over $100 at any other vintage store in the area. Aside from the prices, what keeps me coming back is how cute the store is and how friendly the staff are. It's a family-run small business, and they sell handmade plushies crocheted by the owners' sister. You can always expect a friendly conversation with whoever's at the counter when you walk in! At this point, nearly a quarter of my closet has been sourced from Paisley Vintage. They're one of the best new businesses in town, so be sure to show up and support!! read more

If you're like me and love vintage clothing, but hate how taxed they can get -- look no further because y'all... This place is for the people fr! The prices are incredibly affordable compared to most of the other shops in Berkeley. I've also talked to the owners Michael and Kevin often because they're so friendly and transparent about their process. They wash everything before putting it out and make sure it's in good condition. Half of my closet is from Paisley at this point. Ever since I stumbled upon their grand opening in August 2021, I end up grabbing something cute every time I leave. Their curation is impeccable. There is definitely something for everyone -- work jackets, chore coats, hoodies, nature tees, car tees, y2k baby tees, floral midi skirts, leather jackets, patterned fleeces, knit vests, utility pants. Guys I am telling you, this is the hidden gem!! Also, if you want to see what they're putting out for the day, they unfailingly post their daily restocks on their Instagram @paisleyvtg . Plus they do one day holds or venmo purchases if you dm them so it's really convenient. Definitely check them out if you're a vintage lover in the area, or just need a new fit in general. It's like opening a Pandora's Box of 90's and Y2K. I am turning 30 in March so to go with my party theme of "90s and Hyphy" we went on a walking tour of the thrift stores of Berkeley. I am upset this was our last stop as I wouldn't have bought anything at the prior stores, so by the time we got here my wallet had been exhausted! Clean, boutiquey vibe on the inside. Music was poppin. Racks of tees, organized by color, vintage on vintage. Saw some vintage SJ Sharks-wear, and sweaters and lined "shackets" at the front... Other leather goods, and the nostalgia almost knocked me out. I had to fight so hard not to buy one as I've been SEARCHING for a 90s-style plaid, lined, flannel jacket. OG Pokemon stickers and other 90s paraphernalia were on the shelves above the clothing racks. At the front it looks like they're selling some knit characters.. the ones of interest to me were the Snorlax and my memory is failing me but I think it was a Keropi. I need to be back. I would highly recommend coming here! The owner Michael is nice and the store is really clean. All of the clothing was sorted by color and it was very well organized. We liked looking through all the racks, all of the clothes were great quality and there was something there for everyone. The prices were also extremely fair. this is literally the perfect thrift store. I went with my new roommates and it was such a fun store! The quality of all the clothes were in amazing condition and the owners are so kind. My boyfriend and I were heading to get boba and around the corner was this cute little vintage shop. Walked in and got greeted with a grand opening promo card which was super sweet. Definitely loved the atmosphere and found some cute tops and got a pair of jeans for a great price, especially with the promo discount. My boyfriend was also able to find a nice jacket, so the store had a wide variety of clothing for everyone. When we checked out, the owners were super cool and were kind enough to tell us about the curated clothes and how they've been collecting for years. It was super nice shopping in the small family owned clothing store because the guys seemed very down to earth. Very cool vintage clothing store, went in to check out the stock while I was showing a prospective student around the campus. Definitely got the impression that the selection here is very well curated, and you can probably find an article of vintage clothing that fits whatever style you are going for. I have been in an athletic style lately so I got a 2003 golf tee shirt. Now that I have followed their instagram, I can keep up with the stock and possibly go in again when I see something I like. read more

I am a huge fan of vintage clothing and antiques shopping, and I am always on the lookout for new spots around the Bay. I absolutely love Paisley Vintage. Their collection is highly curated and the layout of the store is very chic, which makes the shopping experience more inviting. I am particularly a fan of their sweaters. I find that it is so hard to find good quality sweaters for a reasonable price in our modern world of mass produced cheaply made clothing, and I think this is particularly true of sweaters. Paisley Vintage has all sorts of really fun gems. I have purchased several sweaters from them now, including a 100% wool sweater from the 1950s, a unique handwoven musical note sweater from the 1980s, and a vintage wool Disney sweater, also from the 1980s. All sweaters were under $50 each and most fall within the $20-$30 range. Paisley Vintage is now my go to spot for sweaters, which will be perfect for the fall weather right around the corner. read more

Paisley is an awesome place to shop! More often than not I try and buy clothing that is reasonably priced and environmentally friendly, and Paisley offers just that. I'm hesitant to leave a review and expose how great this spot is but Paisley deserves all the recognition. First off, my partner & I are from the South Bay and there aren't too many consignment stores here, and the ones we have are SUPER overpriced. We stumbled into this little gem on accident after a meal around the corner and have been loyal customers since. Reasonably priced items + great quality vintage gems keep us coming back. The owner, Michael is an honest person who also takes the time to get to know his customers. **So...once again...my review was removed...** Why? Hurt feelings?…read more As I discovered this...it only gave me more incentive to address this business again...5 years later...what for? Racism. So yelp...don't have a cow...plenty of reviewers have cited racism by literally using the term "racism" in their reviews on yelp when they review other businesses...and their reviews are still up for all to read...Stop removing my honest, truthful reviews - you want an honest community...then let your reviewers speak truth, .racism exists, and plenty of yelpers call it out: In 2020 I entered Sotto Voce... in the neighborhood I grew up in, a resident of this same neighborhood since 1968 in the Thousand Oaks Neighborhood, of Berkeley, CA...daughter of a physician, and mother a nurse...all three of us hold degrees from UC Berkeley - or "Cal," as we refer to this institution of higher learning, which most people are fully aware...and 4 siblings, one who attended Cal, and the other 3 were admitted to Cal, but attended other universities... Now...back to 2020 (BTW...my daughter was given admission to every single UC...including Cal...and a full Regent's Scholarship to her choice of UC...not based on financial need, but based on academic merit...just to give this business owner an understanding that one should not offend someone and make assumptions because other people of color may have injured your sensibilities once upon a time). And...don't demean the youth of any race or age who frequent your business either...clearly you have issues. Otherwise post a sign saying "Youth not welcome." That's sarcasm...or is it... I was with my elderly mom, and daughter...daughter who is Black...and dropped them off at Sotto Voce to do Christmas shopping, as I went about to find a parking spot on busy Solano Avenue...both my daughter and mom entered Sotto Voce together. Upon my entering this business, I saw my daughter at the back of the store, doing her Christmas shopping, as my mom was at the front of the store looking at jewelry in the front glass case....what I witnessed was: A caucasian woman walking behind my daughter's every step her eyes locked in on my kid...and was no less the 3 feet from her...my daughter saw me enter and gave me a look...when I stepped closer, not saying a word to anyone, the woman departed my daughter and went back to the front...where my mom was ALL ALONE. My mom is white. I knew the expression on my daughter's face, and what was going on...The woman had zero idea that I was w/ my daughter and mom...I immediately turned around, and walked up to the front of the store where my mom was, and this woman, greeted me like I was her best pal...hmmmm....she had no idea I witnessed her profiling my kid, and no idea she herself was at that moment speaking to another Black woman...yeah, it's like that. My daughter later told me what happened from the very beginning...that this woman was "on her from the moment she stepped into this store." I proceeded to drop a good $225.00 for Christmas gifts, and did not address this woman because not frequenting her business any longer speaks louder, and my elderly mother was present, and both my daughter and I were trying to have a nice day with her...we just want this woman to understand that if she is the owner, or if she's not... Black people know when others are acting irrationally...we are a well established BLACK family from your business's neighborhood...so please don't assume my kid was looking to steal from you...you have offended three generations of Berkeley residents in one fell swoop...who really have nothing more to say to you...this review stands. You made a great kid feel like she doesn't belong in your store...and traumatized her...and frankly, she's too good for for your store. She's such a great kid, she had no problem w/ me spending money in your store...because we don't hate...we speak the truth...but not with hate. She found a few things her grandmother loved (my mom) and we were not going to allow such an experience ruin our day. I went with him to finalize my bouquet and spoke to Sue. I showed her my inspiration photo and told her roughly how large I wanted it to be and she said she could get it done at $150. Unfortunately, many florists are not open on Sunday and my wedding was Monday morning in SF. I asked her if the bouquet would be okay if I picked it up on Saturday. She graciously offered to let me pick it up on Sunday, even though they weren't open, as an exception since it was for our wedding - which was extremely kind of her. The bouquet was beautiful, attached below, and she packaged it with water in a cardboard box so it made for easy transportation. Sunday morning - Monday morning of my wedding - no major issues. There was a rose or two that wilted slightly, but nothing major. Pricing was extremely reasonable, I was being quoted $250+ at other locations. Very grateful for her flexibility and kindness. Would recommend and come again if I ever need flowers again!

He also had a somewhat curt, unfriendly demeanor. Brainstormer was probably the best a decade ago, but something seems to have gone wrong with them along the way. Whoever's in charge of events should consider switching to Head Games, Geeks Who Drink, Live Event, or Pub Trivia Nerds.
