What really sets Paisley apart as a thrift / vintage store is both the quality of their store and their selection of apparel. I feel like thrift and vintage stores can come off as dirty but Paisley is very well lit, incredibly clean, and neatly organized. Clothing and accessories are separated both by gender and by type of clothing. The selection is always changing too. We had a chance to briefly talk with one of the owners, and he told us that if you keep up with their Instagram, they're always restocking new items and showcasing it. For my Coachella fit, I ended up getting this really nice pair of North Face snow suspenders but there was also a pair of cargo pants that really caught my eye that I got as well. The staff are friendly and there are fitting rooms to try on the clothes.

All the jewelry and accessories were inside and photos, stickers, stationery items were outside. Patches and spoons (my fav part. Wish I knew how to turn them into rings because they had really unique designs) were located at the back of the store. Overall, got some turquoise rings and a bangle for $15 total. Not bad. Second, definitely negotiate. Lastly, if you like picking for stuff, you can find something. It's a lot of junk, but treasure is in the eye of the beholder, especially if you like tsotchkes. I ended up with a hand painted wooden duck decoy from 1981. It's def someone who randomly painted one, and not a priceless artifact, but I'm ok with that. I also ended up getting an old framed small print of a poem, and a vintage Thomas Stanley travel alarm clock that's currently not working, hopefully due to an old battery, but if it's up and running, I saw them on Etsy for $50. They did a great job packing and quickly shipping the tote bag. The purchase was kind of funny for a couple reasons. One, I thought it was a vintage bag because I didn't know you could resell newer items on Etsy that are not handmade. It looked vintage to me, so I didn't question it, but it turned out the bag is from a few years ago. No big deal. Second, I didn't pay attention to the bag's measurements or the word "mini" in the title. I had to laugh when I took it out of the box. It's so tiny. It looks like it will maybe fit my phone, wallet, keys, and that's about it. I was expecting it to be much bigger, but that's totally my fault for not paying attention. The tote bag is in excellent new condition with the tag still attached. It also came with a detachable long strap. I'm not sure what I will do with it because its teeny size feels too small for me, but it's an awfully cute bag.

A huge plus is that you can join the selling waitlist from your phone before arriving. My tip: wait until there are only a couple of people ahead of you before heading over so you don't spend extra on parking. I've also sold at the College Avenue location and found Shattuck to be a much better experience overall. Parking was easier, the store felt less crowded, and I thought the men's selection was noticeably stronger. There are lots of consignment options these days, but I received a good amount in store credit for my son's clothes and left happy. I'll definitely be back.
