Such an awesome place with the absolute nicest people and greatest coaches! I was at this box for a few months while on island and I have to say it's been one of the best Crossfit experiences I've had. Dan, Kyle, and Jarrod were the coaches I interacted the most and they were so awesome! They were very helpful and super dedicated to the students. Not to mention, they're just really funny guys who make the work out go by quickly. This box also has THE most class times of any other box in the area... they literally have 10+ classes a day so there's something that works for everyone. I was always able to make a class a few times during the week. I truly enjoyed my time here so so much and I would recommend anyone who's looking for a box to check this one out. I've been a consistent CrossFitter for over a year and a half and to date have been to over 40 boxes all over the West Coast, PacNorWest, and Hawaii. I have no aspiration to get a CF level 1 cert or own my box, I just want to enjoy CrossFit in it's purest form as an everyday athlete and through my travels I have been able to really see the motives of a box. Whether it be to train Games competitors, gain the most members as possible, be the coolest and hippest thing, or to genuinely foster a family that cares for each other all the while providing a culture of fitness. CrossFit East Oahu is the later of these in my humble opinion. I had less than one day on the island but I needed to get a WOD in and through the magic of Instagram, I chose CFEO as the box to hit up. Being from San Diego, I was really surprised to see that they offered a 4:30 am class and with the two hour time difference I thought it would be perfect for me, an empty box where I could chat it up with the coaches and even possibly get a quick open gym session after the WOD. Unfortunately, my bed kept me in longer than expected so I drove to the box at 5 am expecting to work out at 5:30 am, and the sight I saw surprised the living crap out of me...I saw 20-25 people WODing from the 4:30 am class! I couldn't believe it, this was the biggest class I had ever seen WODing before the sun rose. And what really convinced me that this was a truly special box was that everyone from my class introduced themselves to me and welcomed me like a starving Sailor for Thanksgiving. It really reminded me of home and the sense of family we proudly exude. As for the WOD, my coaches were Jason and Alanna and they both looked like they were fire breathers in the box BUT they also were outstanding coaches, which is a rarity because you usually get one or the other quality in a coach. Anywho, there were two WOD's and a running buyout, WTF!!! WOD 1 was 30 thrusters @ 95# not for time, then WOD 2 was Grace. Holy haupia, by the time I was on my run, my lungs felt like I had just done Fran four times! LOL! But it was the ass kicking I needed before I went home. Wods, Amraps, Rft's, burpees, double unders....man you definitely learn a different language when you start Crossfit! I love Keoni and all the other trainers! It really is a family and everyone's so encouraging. I have never been the type to be a hardcore gym junkie and was nervous that this might not be for me. But I'm almost 3 months into it and so far I love it! I have ADD so I love that everyday is different and you do a bunch of different workouts even within your class. I'm slowly but surely getting the Crossfit bug! It's great for people with kids because they have a "cool jail cell" where they can all play while parents get their workout on! I've never been into group exercise. I'm adverse to pushing my physical limits. I also am not a "morning person." But after 2 weeks at Crossfit East Oahu (CFEO), I'm a convert. Several friends have gone through a 3-month Transform class focusing on regular exercise and healthy food choices -- mostly through a modified Paleo diet. Results are dramatic. Owners Keoni and Rose do a great job to motivate members to kick old habits and focus on health. Some of my humble friends are now weekend warrior athletes. This is not your typical gym. You will not see treadmills, weight machines, etc. The focus is on using your own body weight, kettle weights, medicine balls, ropes, resistance bands, etc. to get a quick and dynamic workout. There are numerous classes to fit any schedule. So, it's not hard to get started. The one thing is that currently some of the classes are really full. But once the gym expansion is completed (in about 1 month), we should see much more workout space and elbow room to run around. read more

I went to their " FREE" intro class and I was sold on the pictures on the wall of cross fit members who have achieved great fit bodies. Some of them looked liked completely different people. I'm new to exercise and I've been hesitant about joining any fitness program. Recently, a couple of friends told me about Crossfit East Oahu. They sold me on the idea that it was an intense workout that was completely scalable. I went to a free intro class (Wed 6:30 pm or Sat 8 am) and talked to Keoni about my exercise history, health, and goals. We also discussed the Crossfit program and its many time offerings. There is no excuse as to why I can't make a class! Needless to say, I love everything about it and now attend regular morning classes. What I love most about Crossfit East Oahu is the people. Keoni is very motivational and positive. The men and women that I work out with are amazing and supportive. It makes exercising enjoyable. Before I joined CFEO, I experienced three different Crossfit groups. This is the best one! I love the Ohana, the coach are the owners, and the members are supportive. You don't get lost in the crowd. It's like having a personal coach. I like that most members are competing with themselves. The synergy gives me the energy and drive to complete my WOD. Came for a free intro class in june 2013 and never stopped coming! Did a round of transform and I'm on my second one. I initially wanted to lose the babyfat and gain my life back....but now I just want to he strong fit and healthy. Love the CFEO ohana...couldn't have asked for a better gang. Crossfit East Oahu is more than a "box" (as the cool kids call a gym) -it's a way of life... the good life. If you ask the 200 plus members of the gym why they go there it's pretty unanimously -- The community! Owners Rose and Keoni are great motivators who lead by example, who push you to challenge your limits, whose goal is to keep you a part of their family forever. The coaches truly love their jobs, and your fellow athletes are your best cheerleaders when you first start because they have all been there. There are classes throughout the day, 7 days a week, sometimes as early as 4:30am (or so I've heard, I've never been), and as late as 8:30pm (which i attend regularly). The hour long class begins with stretching and warm up, then going over the actual WOD (workout of the day) so that everyone in the class (sometimes as few as 4 or 5 to upwards of 25-30) is comfortable with the movements. Then it's time to prep your board so you can record your personal progress and the timer is set. Most workouts last between 15-30 minutes. What I like second best about Crossfit East Oahu, after the overwhelming sense of community, is that all the workouts can be modified and scaled down to meet your physical abilities. This format recognizes that we all start somewhere and our biggest challenge isn't being better than someone else...but self improvement..one workout at a time. After a recent milestone birthday, a friend who's into crossfit bought me a month's membership as a gift. I just completed my 3rd session today and actually was able to work through 200 sit-ups in addition to deadlifts and box jumps. I feel great! Although I was initially intimidated, Keoni and Rose are so encouraging and modify the workouts to suit your physical capabilities and needs. I've pretty much always been a solo workout person, but what surprised me was how much I really like the community mindset of the group and how everyone encourages each other...no matter how out of shape you are. I signed up and paid for 12 personal training sessions with this gym - neary $900. My trainer did not listen to my concerns. I saw no results. The owners and staff refused to communicate with me regarding sessions and payments. After one month I told the trainer I would be leaving the gym and thought it would be fair to receive a refund for the unused sessions. The trainer said the owner would get in touch with me and I could get a refund. I did not get a refund and the owner refused to call me back after several attempts to contact via phone call, text, and email. I do not think my request was unreasonable and am disappointed in Crossfit East Oahu's lack of communication and customer service which had lead me to lodge this complaint with Crossfit HQ and BBB. read more
