I had a bad experience due to the 20% service fee especially after the employees told us that they make $1 an hour but make 15% off of the 20% service fee they work off of commission. Wow. So as a customer whatever I buy pays their salary. They are incentive is for me to spend more. That seems very odd and then to have your employees start attacking for people questioning it is a gigantic red flag. read more

We came here tonight with my whole family, 7 of us. We had gone to two tasting rooms before and we came in, ordered a few drinks. Out of nowhere a manager comes up to us and says the bartender thought a few of us were too drunk, not all of us but one or two, and wasn't comfortable serving us. She didn't say who it was and couldn't give any details. She then proceeded to say that she will bring us bread and water and then "re-evaluate" the situation ( treating us like children). No one was being crazy, we are all very aware of everything going on tonight. We also had reservations at the steak house tomorrow night owned by the same person but we will not support that company going forward. We still have no idea what happened tonight or why but will not give them anymore business read more

Our server, Lauren was amazing! Great food and drink, too. Will definitely be back soon.

Great food, beer, and service! Went on a Saturday so it was packed, but nevertheless our waitress Dahlia was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had an excellent time. We ordered freer flights and all apps to share, including dessert. The jalapeño Mac was bomb, as was the streak frites, and Brusselsprouts. A little on the pricey side, but I would Definitely recommend. They don't require tip as they charge 20% of the price of your bill. read more

amazing food and wonderful knowledgeable service staff. loved the casual atmosphere. We enjoyed sharing 4 starters, and we loved the local twists on the dishes. read more

Enjoyed dinner here Friday. We didn't have a reservation but there was no wait for the patio. Even though it was a hot day, the misters and shade made it very comfortable, and we were able to have our dog with us. Charlie gave us great service. We had the prime rib sandwich and the wedge salad with steak added. Yum! It wasn't inexpensive, but a very delicious dinner. read more

Fantastic menu and service. Our food was fantastic. Perfect steak and sides. Drinks also great. I highly recommend this place.

Service great. Crafted cocktail tasty: Mexican in the Rye. Had Scallops in the half shell & it does mimic the texture of oysters. The Wasabi Aioli was not overwhelming. Had the Crossbuck Salad with 6 oz Tenderloin & finished it all. Has glass of Roti Cellar Granache very smooth. Did not have room for desert. Will be back. read more

Service was great! Food was okay (we ordered the spinach dip, Brussel sprouts, and brownie sunday). Atmosphere was awesome, we sat on the patio, very nice. Oh and they played Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, matchbox 20... type 90s music the whole time. (Also FYI they include a 20% service charge automatically, but we would have tipped that anyways because service was really good!) read more

This place is open despite what google will tell you. We stopped by after work for a pint. There was no happy hour specials and that's ok, just want to note that for people looking for happy hour in the future. We didn't order food so I can't speak to quality there. I had the house Hazy IPA which was pretty good and my co worker had the house double IPA which was also pretty tasty. I'd rate the beer here 4 stars. I have to knock the rating down for the 20% automatic gratuity. I have no problem with this practice but I need to know about it before hand. I paid with cash and didn't get a receipt. I asked for a receipt after receiving less change than I expected. Good thing I asked because I almost left a 40% tip for the beers we ordered. The staff seemed nice and the building itself looked great. If I lived locally I would come back. read more

Brought the family since all kids were in town. Staff treated us like VIP. We had an infant so they put us in a corner so the baby could sleep in stroller. Food was excellent and almost matched the service. The mac and cheese was great along with the steaks! Great place to go for special occasions! Everyone in group was super impressed! Thanks again to Eric, Brad and Alicia! We will definitely be back! read more

They attach a MANDATORY 20% "service charge" to all orders! They do NOT tell you this up front, they just tack it on and have a lame little card that tries to explain it away. AND, they tack it on BEFORE the tax line! So you pay taxes on your own tip!!!! WTH???? Sorry, if "service" is not included in a service industry, I don't want any!!! Worst part, they have the nerve to include a gratuity line on the receipt and state that "additional gratuities are always appreciated. NO! NO NO NO!!! Change your pricing if you cannot afford to pay your staff! (For what they charge, they can pay plenty!) I WILL NOT GO BACK. Heck, I even felt cheated. It felt smarmy. Underhanded. Nope, won't make that mistake again. read more

On the positive side, the beer was cold, the wine was tasty, and the food was decent. At this point things start to go downhill. Let's begin by saying, the place isn't cheap. A pint of beer was $7.00, a glass of wine was around $14.00 to $15.00 and the shaved prime rib sandwich was 21.00. But wait, then they sneak in a 20% service charge when the check comes and then have the gall to ask for an additional tip for the server. Let me translate this, the price for a pint of beer is listed on the menu is $7.00 when it is really $8.40, the wine is not $15.00 but atually $18.00 and the sandwich turns out to be $22.80 after the service charge is applied. Oh, and if you would like some au just to dip it in, well that's $4.00, but really $4.80. So, what amounts to a French Dip sandwich is going to cost you $27.60 before you tip your server. Needless to say, I will never return to Crossbuck Brewing. My suggestion to management is to try listing your menu prices honestly and stop tacking on a surcharge. read more

Veggie burger and fries are delicious! The staff is super welcoming and friendly from the time you walk in the door up until the time you leave. There was a blonde bartender when we came in for lunch and she was a doll! Super kind and attentive even though she had several other tables. Very happy with this place and the steak house on the other side. read more

First time in Walla Walla (loved it!) and first time at Crossbuck. I can already tell you that we would love to come back to spend more than a few hours, we travel a lot. Looking for a lunch stop on the road brought us to this beautiful location in what used to be a train depot. A good selection of beers were available and I asked our server Jimmie for suggestions. Summer makes me think cool, crisp and easy on the pallet. It's hot you know! He brought me Trout Tickler Pale Ale and Wingding Monkey Hut Oatmeal Pale. Both delicious, but I have to say the Trout Tickler is my favorite Pale finding. Ever. Clean, crisp, no lingering flavors other than what I imagine the perfect pale to be. Maybe it's the soft white wheat used or the fact that it's salmon safe. Hubby had the Hazy Schmazy Juicy IPA. Yep, also delicious. Not too heavy, the right amount of tropical and dank together. The food menu is a good selection, we had tasty fish and chips. This brewery is doing it right from the beverage and food offerings, to the exceptional incentives and benefits for their employees. Keep up the good work. Don't change that pale recipe and I'll keep talking you up for anyone that is going to be coming your way! read more

This was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised! Staff were friendly/attentive, beer was good, environment was great, and the pepperoni flatbread (pizza) was amazing! Excited to go back! read more

We messed up our own order - We got the steak bites knowing they were breaded and deep fried, but wanting them sautéed...anyway, we got the deep fried ones, and then the house fixed it for sautéed...both were unbelievably good. Brussels sprouts, burger, beer, and service were also second to none. Good job CB. Gluten free friendly upon request. read more

Food and service was good till I got the bill and they put a 20% gratuity charge and still asked for a tip. Poor server's are getting screwed read more

A newer brewery. It's sort of fancy for a brewery (it seems the restaurant is the main business). They do have hard liquor too. The beer is a bit above average for a micro brewery. Prices were a bit high. read more

This is arguably the best brewery in Walla Walla, for both brewskis and noshes. It's in the same building, and with same ownership, as the Walla Walla Steak Company, so you know the setting is nice. Of course it's more casual than the Steak Company, with some wood booths and high-top tables as well as a few tables outside on the patio. Service, even though they charge an automatic 20% gratuity, was still very pleasant and helpful. You may need the helpful service when selecting from among the 20+ beers offered, most on tap, with a few in bottles. The beers are seasonally oriented, so in early summer, we had some nice hefeweizens (wheat beers) and fruit-tinged flavors to choose from. If you crave a lot of variety, as I do, then go for the tasting sampler: $12 for 5 different 5-oz. pours! In terms of food, it's burgers, pizzas, mac & cheese, and sandwiches. Nothing fancy, but who wants fancy when you're quaffing beers? The burger special, with pickled peppers and bacon, was delicious. The french fries were, unfortunately, pretty tasteless, but forgivable when the burger is good. read more

The crew wanted to go after work and they have been open for a while so hey the kinks should be worked out right? I ordered a burger. It came way late and cooked barely medium when I had ordered it well done. Worse yet it was greasy as heck but as a bonus it had a cow shit smell to it.. uggg. The fries I received were all leavings and not a single one was over an inch and a half long.. Their amber ale was just ok..nothing to write home about. I also don't like the food prep area right where everybody walks by and can cough wheeze on the grill. When the new wears off and then 6 months later the closed sign is hanging in the window you will know why.. read more

First the good. The ambiance was pretty neat and the service was outstanding. Now the bad. My husband and I went in for lunch knowing it was a steakhouse. Apparently you have to order from the dinner menu to get steak. I saw "steak bites", so I thought I'd give that a try. Unfortunately they were no different than chicken nuggets with tiny pieces of beef under the breaded, deep fried bites. Big disappointment! I could smell the Brussel sprouts entering the restaurant. I was anxious to order the "crispy Brussels " being as I've had fried Brussel sprouts before and enjoyed them. When they came I thought the chef had burnt them all. They were crispy layers of leaves that went all the way to the center of each sprout. So all I was eating was burnt leaves. I was really looking forward to an actual Brussel sprout. The final insult was having to pay a 20 percent gratuity that was figured into my bill for me! I would never leave a 20 percent tip for a meal as disappointing as this one. My husband had the burger and said it was good. As a suggestion, small steaks might be added to your lunchtime menu and also, maybe add a hook or two in the women's bathroom stall for a purse or coat. Not sure if I'll be returning. read more

To be honest , We have been here a few times ended up with three different servers but one we had twice. It is amazing the difference a server can have whether it be for good or in our case ...... bad. unfortunately It is seemingly impossible to even focus on the food or your evening when your service is as horrible as ours was the two times we had a girl by the name of Emmy's as our server. she continuously was back and forth awkwardly standing there until we would ask if she needed something. She forgot drinks . Changes we had asked for, all very basic things when would see at a restaurant. A person can only hear I'm sorry so many times before it just becomes too much. The first time she kept reminding us that she was new and that she just started doing this as if we needed to know that so many times but we gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't write a review the first time however after returning again to receive her as a server in our experience was even worse this time I had to leave a review. While I don't believe in berating an individual I also don't believe in allowing people to think that mediocrity at best is acceptable . I expect more from this establishment . read more

Food and beer were great! We both had the chicken sandwich and a flight - we were definitely satisfied! The 20% added fee was explained very well by the wording on the menu as well as our server. Maybe this literature is new, but I feel as though these reviews should be overlooked as it is very clear where the money is going - to the workers. read more

Didn't have any food, but the bullshit service charge for beer was a huge letdown. Just charge what you want, and don't fall into the BS tax garbage. The beer was "meh" at best, but the service sucked, and charging a service charge was a dick slap in the face. Not worth it. Don't give them your money unless you want the Walla Walla equivalent of an Applebee's. read more

Tried a flight as we often do. We liked a couple of the beers. The venue is cool. Clean and obviously well planned. But. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is going on with the 20% "service fee"? And it goes in the owners pocket? Total horseshit. We ended up paying 17 dollars for a flight of five. Only 2 dollars in tip. Seems like a California thing to do. We won't be back. read more

We had a great meal at Crossbuck Brewing. The customer service was outstanding thank you Tim and Bryant. We had the bite size steak and Brussel sprouts. If you are looking for an experience the bananas foster was awesome!! I can't wait to go back. Thank you read more

We stopped in for quick lunch. I had the butternut squash soup & no drink, and hubby had the wedge salad, onion soup & a beer. The ambiance is nice and food was okay--much better than bar food, for sure. Our waitress was attentive, though it wasn't busy at all. The tab for the light lunch totaled about $35. I think we'd return except for the fact that the brewery automatically tacked on a 20% tip. It isn't noted on the menu, which it should be, in bold lettering. We voluntarily leave 20% tips, BUT I do not think it is appropriate for a restaurant/bar to decide what customers will tip, especially for people who get bad service or are on a tight budget. With the recent rise in minimum wage, the mandatory tip seems inappropriate and offensive. I could understand the 20% surcharge if this was a 5 star restaurant or if I was in a large group of 8 or more, but this is not the place for it. read more

We went here for lunch today. The service was fair, the servers were more interested in a tennis match on a TV than serving. There were five of us and the food was okay, not great, just okay. When given the bill, we were told that there is a 20% "service fee". WAIT WHAT??? This rip-off place DID NOT advertise that stupid tax before we ordered, nor was that stupid tax posted anywhere. We will NEVER go back there again. We WILL tell all of our friends of the stupid tax and let them know of our opinion of the service and food quality. This place is a rip-off. Beware!! This place is NOT worth the $$, and certainly NOT the STUPID TAX. read more

The brewery side was chilly inside during lunch and the metal stools were terribly uncomfortable. My burger was good as well as the fries and I ate 1/2 and planned to take the other half home. I asked for a box for my burger on the way to the restroom and when I got back the server had already boxed my meal in front of my husband. Having someone takes touch my food I planned to take home was a turn off, even if it is considered a luxury service. The dog got the rest of my meal. My husbands 4 cheese and Mac was awful. The rotini noodles were very done and the sauce tasted more like a flour rue than any cheese. Beer choices were limited to three, all IPA, and my husband did not care for it. Service was satisfactory, a bit slow, and lots of communication between the servers when not reaching out to customers. Finally the automatic 20% gratuity was a shock and the receipt still leaves a line for s credit card top transaction. These are all strictly our opinions of the eatery and many may disagree, that's what makes the world go around. Just disappointed in the food, beer and automatic gratuity when we hoped to have a good lunch in a new spot. Hopefully some of this information reaches the owners and management so they can make improvements if they desire. read more

Absolutely great! I don't like beer but the Crossbuck brewing Kolsh and Juicy IPA are great. I would order them next time. I sampled those. But ordered the Blue Mountain Cider. It is the BEST hard cider I've had. The brisket burger and fries was delightful. It tasted so good I didn't want it to end! The part owner, Dan was friendly and helpful. Other wait staff were friendly. This is a new favorite for sure! read more

Decent spot to hang out for a while, but beer falls short, in my opinion. First of all, you definitely get the brewpub feel, complete with full views of the brewing equipment behind the beer taps. Numbered taps, as opposed to branded, seemed cool to me and allows easier rotation. Seating at the bar was cramped on this night, with far too many stools set around a limited space. One of the servers must have overheard me say something about it to a fellow patron, as she eventually came by and removed one stool. Now for the beers. I went with a tasting flight, which included their hefeweizen, nitro porter, and two of the three IPAs offered under their brand. Threw in another WW IPA for good measure. To a beer, they all lacked mouth feel. IBUs were on the light side for my taste, and I kept searching for deeper body with each passing sip, but that would not come on this night. For food, I went with the Walla Walla sweet onion soup. I give them high marks for that soup! Came out with perfect balance and piping hot. Well done. If you don't mind lighter tasting beers, this is your place. But I'm not sure today's beer aficionados seek what this place offers. Present company included. That said, I met a great local at the bar and the wait staff was superb. My rating is reflective of the beer, which is what you get when you call yourself a brewery. read more

Not worth the price. My burger was bland and undercooked and my partners was burnt. Service was good but overall I wouldn't recommend the food. read more

My husband and I had lunch in the pub and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and the menu, made suggestions on foods and was overall really great. My husband says the burger is really good and I thought the onion soup was delicious as well. The only downside I had was the Brussels sprouts were VERY blackened. I thought it made them bitter. They did remake my order and they were better but it would be my preference to have them less burned. The seasonings on them are very good though and overall I think it's a good dish. I didn't use the aioli, I would have loved to see a different type of dipping sauce though, maybe something sweet to offset the bitterness. We will definitely be coming in again. And as far as people complaining about the 20% service charge, we felt that it was well worth it and in fact left a little extra as well. We had a great time there. read more

My husband, son and I went to Crossbuck last week and enjoyed it. I decided to go with a friend this evening. Our meal was good, service was great. As we were finishing, someone who wasnt our server was trying to rush us. Clearing drink glasses that were 1/2 full etc. It was very uncomfortable. Our bill was nearing $100 for 2 people so being rushed was uncalled for. The artichokes are very good. read more
