Not five stars yet as we did not have a chance to sample much this time around. We were on the property in order to attend the Northwest Viking Festival, which was great. A very professional event and the owners of this brewery get a lot of the credit! Nice farmland just south of stateline between Washington and Oregon. We were excited to glimpse the beautiful Friesian horses that they post about online sometimes. read more

Yet another fantasy oriented craft brewery that I made to this summer! Earlier in the summer I went to Ogres on Whidby Island and now I made it to Dragon's Gate! I've been wanting to come here for quite a while! This brewery as the name may imply is oriented towards dragons. The taproom is in a fairly rural area of Milton-Freewater. Being around statuary dragons, fresh clean air, friendly service and most importantly great beer doesn't make a brewery much better than this. The taproom is great, lots of outdoor seating and the beer that we had was four of their own that they had on tap in a taster tray. The beer was unique in taste and just a real joy to drink! Already I'm planning a return trip to the Walla Walla and Milton-Freewater area... mostly for wine tastings but I will be sure to pave the way for some beer as well from Dragon's Gate! read more

Great place for groups, family events and to get together with friends. This was our first time out to Dragon's Gate Brewery! I along with several of my Hi School classmates enjoyed a nice evening. The staff and owners were friendly and welcoming! Our event included an open invitation to all classmates and their families of Mac HI. The owners had preplanned for us with everything from extra parking, a great food truck, plenty of softly lit outdoor seating, to clean well stocked bathrooms. They offer different events throughout the year and are big Harrie Potter fans! I tried my fist "Butter Beer", it was very good! They are a little off the beaten path and have a relaxing quiet county atmosphere. read more

Really loved our visit here. Came as part of a bachelorette party (9 women) and got a private table and tasting. Our group had a wonderful time, really enjoyed the beers, and had a blast talking with the owners! They also have horses on site, which with a lot of us being riders was an extra treat. At the end we had a taste of the butterbeer which would have me coming back alone. Wish I lived closer as it would be a regular hangout. read more

Wow...what a find. Belgian beer is easy to do poorly. The yeast can be overwhelming, the sugar cloying and the alcohol level masking. The beer at this place does none of that. The husband and wife team here are delightful and on target. Opportunities to go extreme are avoided for great balance and nuance. Might not be the best Belgian I've had; but it's REALLY good...and coming from the small system they are using, it is phenomenally impressive. Definitely should be a beer lover's destination....I loved it. read more

Takes some navigating to get there, but worth finding. I don't drink beer but my friends and family that have tasted their beer are instant fans. My husband and I have been here three times and we'll definitely be going again. Small (nano) brewery with a cool little setup. Wonderfully nice people. read more

Dragon's Gate is my personal heaven on earth. Amazing views, fresh air, and incredible beer! The grounds are maintained beautifully and it's my favorite place to sit with a picnic even on a freezing day. The owners are hard working kind people who make you feel welcome. The creative decor and beer names are just a small part of this brewery's charm. If you are in the Walla Walla Valley, Dragon's Gate is a MUST go. It's only open on Friday night and Saturday so plan accordingly; you will not regret it. read more

I've been following Dragon's Gate Brewery on Facebook for quite a while. Absolutely love the theme and the gorgeous horses! My hubby surprised me with a road trip to the brewery and I was completely beside myself when I saw the sign at the beginning of there driveway. The drive was beautiful and the best part was once we pulled into the parking area, I saw one of the horses! He was tall, gorgeous and watching us! The grounds of the brewery are beautiful even though it was raining and blowing super hard. The brewery itself is small, but cleverly decorated. We got a flight of their Belgian-styled ales and fell for the Saison and the Biere de Garde in which we brought both home with us! Jen was so nice and so good to talk horse with! Definitely a deliberate stop!!! read more

Out in the middle of absolutely nowhere! This is a great little brewery specializing in Belgian influenced beers but with a definite American twist. The tasting room is tiny and the purchasing options are very limited. They will only fill 32 ounce growlers--which they sell--and they only had one bottled beer for sale. On the plus side they have guest taps and they give free tastings of all of the beer that they brew. This is a nice little spot so you should definitely check them out and support them! read more

If you're looking for beer near Walla Walla, take the short drive over to Dragon's Gate. As they say, it's a small operation adjacent to a farmhouse on roughly the middle of nowhere. But Adam and Jennifer are gracious hosts doing some really interesting stuff in what is otherwise a relative beer desert in SE Washington wine country. If you're anywhere near, Dragon's Gate deserves a visit. Can be a little hard to find, but Apple Maps found it so there's that. read more

Can you say real "Farm House" ale? Oh ya it's in the middle of nowhere. May scare off some people because the far out location and dirt road. Real craft brew drinkers will appreciate this place. Makes the beer taste better when you have to work for it. Great beer and very super nice people. Funny how that produces 5 stars. I have been telling friends about this place. Makes people smile. I'm going to take them when I get a chance. I hope they are open in the fall and winter. Keep the wine.... This area will have brew tours soon. read more

As advertised. Way out there but very much worth it. The Double Dragon IPA was excellent. My wife and I have visited somewhere north of 70 breweries in about 10 western states during our RV travels in the last two years and this one is a sure no miss. When you drive to this place for the first time you'll probably think you're lost or heading in the wrong direction. Just stick with and keep going, you'll be extremely glad you did! My wife and our friends went to Dragon's Gate Brewery for the first time tonight and were blown away by the beer and service. Jennifer gave us a warm welcome and showed us the setup for their brewing process and storage. Then it was on to the tasting. We tried the Belgian IPA, Belgian Strong, Wit, and Porter. Then she even brought out 3 experimental brews for us to try! Overall it was an awesome experience and we all ended up buying at least one bottle of each beer to bring back with us. We are looking forward to following Dragon's Gate's progress and are eagerly anticipating seeing their brews in the Tri-Cities eventually. In the meantime we will gladly make the trip back to Dragon's Gate for more tasty beer. read more

The brewmaster Adam has done a masterful job with several unforgiving styles. The Wit is a classic that balances a delicate sweetness with a light wheat flavor. He also offers an Apricot Wit that is worth the trip! Today he also offered tastings of his IPA, Dubbel (FANTASTIC BTW) and Porter (hearty and flavorful). Every beer is high quality, flavorful and nuanced and demonstrates his attention to brewing technique. WARNING: once you find this treasure you'll have no trouble finding it again. My GPS was inaccurate but Yelp mapped the path correctly. read more

This is a little embarrassing, but based on the amount of beer we have consumed up to this point, this review is LONG overdue. Adam and Jen are the best brewers bar none. I don't even drink beer, but I tasted the Raspberry Saison and the Chocolate Stout and I was amazed. They are the most generous motivated young brewery we have visited and we will continue to support them in all future endeavors. As long as Kevin gets a single digit Founders Club member #!
