We are traveling from Portland and viewed the online menu which included a 100% grass fed burger sourced Locally from 6Ranch, Corriente beef, Enterprise, OR. Corriente beed is flavorful, lean, and nutritious. However, the current pub menu changed to grain finished beef lower in omega-3's. After a hard and fun day mountain biking we really wanted the grass fed burger. Instead, we had a veggie burger and a salad with no vinegar and oil option. Decided it was time to try some new foods and places in La Grande. Side A was one I had not been to for a while. My husband is now a full fledged Side A with the salads and burger. I'm stuck on the Chicken and fries but, must say the burgers that are made with Wagyu are very delicious and are great for people that have a hard time with hamburger, as Wagyu is easier to digest. I was a little confused when I first walked up to the front door because I didn't see a patio.. The patio is around the back. The patio has all these little planters around, which really make it not seem like an alley. It's pretty and very relaxing Our waitress came by, so we had dogs to get the water. She took her order and asked if she could also bring the dogs a little treat The dogs were thrilled and so was I. We didn't want to order a big meal because we still had many hours left in our drive We ordered the truffle fries and Korean pork tacos. They were so good. I would absolutely order these again. Stopped here on our first night of vacation and were blown away by how amazing the drinks, service, and food were! I had the Experience IPA and Hubby got the Side Road Cider. The IPA was the perfect west coast style - it was piney, hoppy, crisp, and light. The cider was off-dry to semi-sweet and delicious with good depth of flavor and didn't taste just like fermented apple juice. We both got the Veggie Burger for dinner. He got the dirty fries and I got the truffle fries. The veggie burger is fantastic! You can taste all the different veggies coming together and giving such a layered tasting experience from the corn to the peppers to the black beans to the chickpeas (I'm guessing). The aioli and toppings were top notch. We loved this place so much we specifically routed our drive back home to stop by again. Our waitresses both times were super attentive and friendly. The way they honor the old firehouse building and history and build on that aesthetic is really cool. The second time around, I had the kale Caesar which was even so, so good! We stopped here after a grueling 13 mile hike out of Elkhorn Ridge a bit east of there. My buddy had a great looking burger on a brioche bun, the a side of kale Caesar salad that I was very envious of. I had to try the Korean tacos and was Not disappointed. I might have to get these every time. Even tho they are on the small plates section of the menu, they totally satisfied my post-backpacking hunger. We each had a really good beer - he went with hazy ipa and I had the other, West Coast style - both were on point, as was the service. Tried this restaurant for the first time when dropping our son off at E Oregon University and was pleasantly surprised! They had a good crowd but the hostess was very cordial and honestly tried to get us and everyone else on the waitlist seated as soon as possible The food was Awesome and worth the wait. The Kale Ceasar salad was so good that we ordered a second one for "dessert". All 3 of our entrees were fabulous - Korean Tacos, Pork belly sandwich and Shrimp pasta. This was actually our second visit to Side A, having previously stopped in last July on our way home from Idaho. Our first visit for lunch was good enough that the only option for dinner while staying the night in Lagrande was to hit up Side A again. We did the Dirty Chicken Salad, Ahi Tuna Sandwich, and my daughter went with the grilled cheese and shoestring fries. For drinks we went with Hop Water. While everything was delicious, the Dirty Chicken Salad and the Hop Water stole the show for me. I wish they canned their Hop Water as it's better than most of the other options on the market. I'd leave with a four pack or two every visit. We actually got the same servers we had last summer and the hostess/greeter was also the same which is always a great sign to indicate a well run business. Everyone was friendly and prompt even later on a Sunday evening. The place itself is also super cool! They've set up shop in an old firehouse and best of all, the event space adjacent to the taproom has the vintage fire engines parked right there inside! Add a great little patio area for the warmer months and you have got yourself a really neat spot right in the middle of downtown Lagrande. It's only a few minutes off of I84 so even if you're not lucky enough to be local it's a convenient spot to stop in whether heading to points east or west. read more

Just stopped here on our way from the Canadian Rockies. The food was very delicious. I had the veggie burger and it was full of flavor. I've been wanting to try this La Grande brewery for a little while. I am so very glad that the opportunity arose to try one of their beers! I had The Brut, a Irish Red Ale that I really enjoyed. It had a wonderful spicy and malty flavor that I really got into. Red Ales aren't often something I run immediately for but this Red Ale was very formidable. Went to this place today while we are in town visiting my son. Restaurant is actually an old building, my son said he thinks it was a fire station. Which is pretty cool. We were sat at a high top almost immediately, which was great. Drinks on tap were not extensive, but there were a good variety to choose from, along with a wine selection. I started with the sour which was a raspberry and it had a great flavor to it. However, it felt a little flat to me, so for my next round I got the kolsch which was great. For the table we got an order of the dirty fries which was my son's recommendation. They didn't disappoint. Shoestring style fries, covered in a spicy aioli and sweet peppers and cheese. For my entree I ordered the battered buffalo cauliflower with Gorgonzola and ranch. Cauliflower was beautifully cooked and still had a little bite to it. Flavor was amazing and the Gorgonzola was a nice touch. Our waiter was very attentive and came back multiple times to make sure we were taken care of. Would definitely recommend this place. I'm sure next time I'll try something different, and it will get that 5th star from me. For now, it will get a 8/10. Definitely one of the best places in La Grande so far. read more

We were drawn to the dog friendly patio and decent food write ups. The patio wasn't particularly welcoming with minimal attention to decor but when traveling with dogs you have to be flexible. Our servers were friendly and prompt. I ordered tortilla soup which was flavorful but didn't have any tortillas on top! Spouse was meh on the beer. This visit was okay but not great. read more
