Crossbuck is able to accommodate a large number of people because we were here with 11 people for a family dinner. I will say I loved the brussels sprouts they're slightly crispy almost flash fried, so so so good. The top sirloin was okay, It was cooked well, but I should have ordered it with the butter. The mac & cheese is one of the best things on the menu. The smoked Gouda with the candied jalapeño I mean it's exquisite. However, half of our party did have a pretty long wait to get our food. Half of our party was finished eating before the other half started their food. All and all it was okay but a great family friendly place. We stopped in for the brewery Beers were good. The food that went past us looked and smelled amazing. It is quite expensive. If you look closely the checks add a 20% services fee. The bartender explained that the servers get a 'commission'. And that this service fee is NOT their tip. I think with the cost of the menu items they should stick to just a tip. read more

We also grabbed supper here in addition to a couple of beers to cap off a very entertaining day. The burgers we ordered were very good and just what we were looking for. For beer we went with some lighter ones which is what we usually want during the warmer months which is when we were here. We had the pilsner and the kolsch and then I believe the hazy... all with low ABV as we weren't looking to get too involved with heavy duty beer drinking. They had several XBucks (what they brew on premises) available on the board. Definitely come here for the drinks! Try a local beer or cider. I enjoyed the KoKoMo KoKoNut porter. I did ask for a taste first before I ordered. I also had the fish and chips. Unfortunately, the fish was almost nonexistent (extremely heavy on the "breaded" portion of the fish) and I found a sizable bone in one of the fish pieces. The fries were ok, after I doused them in malt vinegar. The cole slaw was good but such a small serving. One taste of the tarter sauce was enough for me to know that it was too heavy on the mayo flavor. Maybe the fish and chips is not their signature dish. I'd suggest improving the recipe and getting rid of most of the breaded part of that fish. However, the table next to me had three plates of their signature hamburger. So, if you need food, that'd be my recommendation, although I haven't actually tasted it. Our service was good until she brought the check before asking if we wanted to see the dessert menu. A suggestion to the wait staff--always ask if we are feeling like dessert and if we'd like to see the dessert menu. They use a number system to identify the beers currently on tap. It looks like they have about 24 beers on tap at any one time. The food is acceptable. There are a number of choices and you can probably find something on the menu that you will enjoy. I ordered a veggie burger which had good flavor but it needed some gluten to hold it all together. The fries were good. Our waitress was efficient although she didn't ask us if we wanted dessert. There is ample parking. Seating is up to you. Our hotel was super close to Crossbuck Brewing, so we'd pass by it every time we walked into town, and the outdoor patio always seemed to be crowded, but a fun place. So we finally decided to check it out for lunch, especially after one of the employees saw us walking by and told us to come check it out when there was live music during lunch. When we came back for the lunch hour, we took the last outdoor patio table that was in the shade. The place was packed for the live band, which I loved. Crossbuck Brewing has live performances every Sunday, making this the place to be then. My boyfriend and I shared a flight of beer, which came with six tasters for 12 bucks. I tried all three of the IPAs, which were all solid. Though it was lighter on the hops that I'm used to and prefer, it's definitely worth trying for any IPA fan while in Walla Walla. The beer menu was long though, with various styles, so something for everyone. For lunch my boyfriend ordered the Prime Rib Sirloin while I had the Crossbuck Burger. Both of our meals were really tasty! When they brought our entrees they asked my boyfriend to cut into his steak, to make sure it was cooked to medium rare as he requested. Unfortunately, it was overcooked, but staff was happy to remake his steak to his liking. It is nice that they ask patrons to cut into their steak, just to make sure food is to their preference. Love the customer service here! My burger was also good. It came with white cheddar, sweet onions, lettuce and the tomatoes with buttery, soft buns. Although it wasn't cooked to medium rare, it was still a solid burger. Glad to have visited Crossbuck Brewing! Fun vibe, friendly staff and solid beer and food. If you want a more formal experience with the same high quality the Walla Walla Steak Company fills the other half of the establishment. Same quality and service but focus is on fire grilled meats. Stopped in for lunch while visiting friends in Walla Walla. Finishing touches are still happening in the brewery but this place is a must try while you are in town! The beer list is extensive. The brew master is brewing off-site for another week or so until the yanks are operational then right from tank to tap! The Crossbuck side is open seating, inviting, and a fun atmosphere of mixed height tables and booths. The menu includes creative appetizers, salads, and of course burgers! First, all I can say is DON'T skip the crispy Brussels. These things are amazing little flavor bombs. Chef Chad must season each one individually to get that much flavor! We shared a plate but I easily could have had Brussels and soup and been happy. Moving on - we split the beet salad and the black bean burger. Both were delicious. That burger had so many flavors mixed in it was hard to distinguish each one, but I didn't seem to struggle cleaning my plate. We were too full for dessert but left happily satisfied! Service was on point, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I can't wait to come back and check out the Steak House side. If the rock a steak like they rock a Brussel sprout it can't disappoint! Don't skip Crossbuck on your visit to town. Happy to add a 5 star review for this place. Sorry for the long content. I was visiting WW and hoped to dine at the steakhouse or another place in town on Main Street. Last minute plans foiled everything, but I noticed online that the brewery offered some of the same menu as the steakhouse side. So I made a reservation. And so glad I did. One thing to be aware of - this place has a 20% percent service charge added to your bill automatically. However, for me, the concept worked perfectly. I had at least a company of 6 (maybe 7) folks working together, seating and serving and checking on me. I felt really attended to, and so I don't mind that the company has this policy. I ordered the Brussel Sprouts (huge portion and amazing), the Cabernet flight, and a filet and baked potato. Had a decent conversation with the server about medium rare versus medium, and I ordered medium. When it arrived, the server asked me to cut into it to check the color, maybe it's the way they do things or maybe because this cut had such a char on it. Technically it came closer to medium well, almost no pink, but I said it was fine. And guess what? It was better than fine. It was AMAZING! The char added so much flavor, and it was still juicy and oozing some juices onto the plate, so definitely a great cut of meat because it being slightly overcooked didn't ruin it. I may have a new appreciation for medium. Paired extremely well with the glass of Merlot I ordered. Too full for dessert, but not grossly so. I am definitely planning a return. I'm not sure whether to sit in the steakhouse side or the brewery again. All the patrons around me were great company. Could be the full moon tonight, but this meal was as good as the same types I've had in New York for twice as much. Definitely having delicious local wines at reasonable prices helps with the price point. Now to try the beers!! read more

I was so excited to go here. The beer was great. The server was exceptional, BUT this place really ticked me off. Food was extremely slow coming out. The fish and chips meal was grossly over cooked to the point of having no fish inside the burnt breading. But then came the bill. The poor server had to stoop to the point of being required to explain that our bill included a 20% automatic service charge, of which she received 75% and that we could add an "additional tip" if we wanted to. She explained that she earns more than the $15 minimum wage and we weren't required to add an "additional tip". I was outraged! I am more than generous with tips when service is good, but when a business adds a mandatory 20% surcharge to my bill, I define that business as just plain cheap. If they are suffering under the onerous (crappy) wages they have to pay and credit card vendor changes, then for God's sake, just charge me more for my meal. Don't pork it to me in the guise of a mandatory surcharge to my bill and not tell me about it until the bill comes. Terrible, just terrible. We will never go back to this place despite the good beer and the good service. read more

We had dinner, a beer flight, and a cider on a Friday evening. The beer was good. Not amazing but good. The Brussels sprouts were delicious! My partner ordered the steak frites with French onion soup. The steak was good. The French onion soup was okay. In Walla Walla I expect French onion soup to be outstanding. This soup tasted odd, mainly because of the unexpected rosemary. I had the special flame-thrower burger with smoked cheese, chipotle mayo, and smoked bacon. The burger was bland. It needed a lot more smoke and chipotle flavor. I ordered the burger medium and it was unevenly cooked. Part medium, part well done, and part rare. I spent a good portion of Friday night and Saturday morning very ill due to the burger. The service was really slow. Our server was bored and uninterested. In fact, we skipped dessert because we thought it would never arrive. Our biggest complaint is the 20% service fee. It's not that there is a fee. It's more the over-explanation of the fee. You don't need to sell it. Although, I would edit how you explain it. The statement that it goes to pay the staff fair wages. What are those wages and does the additional percentage make up their tips? We did not receive service warranting a 20% service fee. Overall we will probably come back, but only for beer and appetizers. Not for the mains. read more
