Called last week to get an estimate to get my AC serviced. They would not disclose cost of freon and they told me they don't discuss prices over phone. Every other HVAC provider did and found that pretty shady Then I had asked for an estimate how much for a new AC compressor and coil and was told I would have to book an appointment and pay for the service fee and if I decided to buy a new unit it could be applied to the fees. Well as badly as they were not upfront and sketchy, they would probably tell me the fee for appointment would be absorbed by the visit and I would not get any of that applied toward the new unit Thanks but no thanks read the 1 star reviews on Google you will see others have complained about shady. Whenever I need HVAC help, I call Steve! He's great! He takes time to listen to all my concerns and answers my questions thoroughly. I had worked with at least 4 other companies in the past and they were interested in making the sale, not providing the best service. Steve did inform me that it was time to replace our 20 year, huge, Cadillac furnace since there was a crack in the heat exchanger and repairing it wouldn't be cost-effective. Also, our heat and AC wasn't well-distributed within the house. So, we had issues. Then, our AC wasn't blowing cold air like it used to. Steve said there was a leak and so he sealed the AC, as well as added Freon. The following year, the same room temp air was blowing out of the vent and not cold air. It was time for a new AC. Steve gave me all the options, knowing what features were important for me. He gave me many price options, machine brands, let me know about energy efficiency rebates, and current discounts. We ended up purchasing a whole new AC and furnace as well as water heater. I wasn't too excited about the expense but was very happy with Steve's service. After the new installation, he called a few times to check if I had any questions on how to use the new, digital thermostat and how the system was running. I signed up for a service contract and he came for a 6 month check to replace the AC's filter, clean, check the thermostat history, adjust temperature/schedule settings, fan speeds and humidifier controls. I hired CRNE'S to install a couple of thermostats. I wound up getting two Honeywells that were $45 a piece on Amazon. They charged me $900 to install two $45 thermostats!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! read more

Have been a customer of CRNE for over 15 years and had I done this review a couple years ago it would have been 5 stars. However over the last few years I have noticed that they have become increasingly expensive and less responsive. We asked them for a quote to change 2 water heaters last year and they were $1400 more than our other quotes and had an even better quality water heater installed for way less. Our a/c went out during the heatwave of the last few days despite having just been serviced by them 1 week ago at a cost of over $250. They charged $255 just to come out and then told us the part alone would cost $1300. We reached out to another HVAC contractor that quoted us under $1000 to come out and fix it labor and parts. After all these years I will no longer use CRNEs and can no longer recommend them. read more

I had a great experience with Crne's. I had 5 different HVAC techs out to my condo when I was having issues with my AC; 3 techs via my home warranty, 1 from an electronics/appliance store, and Crne's, who was the only one of them who understood how the system in my condo building operates. The electronics store gave me a quote to replace my system including equipment (an air handler) that they and the other 3 techs didn't know was unnecessary. Crne's explained to me why I didn't need a new air handler and replaced only my roof unit at considerable savings to me from the electronics store's quote. Crne's is reliable, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Both Joy and Al provided great customer service, answering my myriad of questions about air conditioning and installation. Additionally, our management company uses them for the complex, and has spoken very highly of them as well. I feel very comfortable recommending Crne's to anyone needing HVAC services. read more

I had an issue with my A/C unit back in early June, and at the time, CRNE'S was the only company available to come out for a service call. They arrived more than two hours past the window I was given, but that's the least of my problems with this company. I had recently moved into my house and the builder whom I bought from told me the A/C unit was in working condition, which was not the case as CRNE'S techs correctly found. Even though the unit was plugged into the circuit breaker, there was no Freon and the valves were closed. After a very brief diagnostic check on the unit, the techs told me the compressor was fried and quickly came to the conclusion that the A/C unit had to be replaced. They said if I agreed to the new installation, they would waive the $150+ diagnostic fee. I had a feeling I was being ripped off, so I went with another company that found the compressor was not fried and that the A/C unit, which is a 2017 model, worked just fine once the Freon was added and the pressure adjusted. CRNE's didn't think to charge the system--for a reason. I called CRNE'S to ask for a refund for the diagnostic fee (not the $90 trip charge) because their diagnosis was blatantly wrong. The woman I spoke with, Joy, refused, despite the fact that I emailed them a copy of the other company's service ticket showing the unit worked after properly being serviced. She claimed I was being "charged for the service call and the time the techs spent with me." In other words, I was being charged for the time the techs spent lying to me. CRNE's cannot be trusted. And even if it was an honest mistake, would you really want a company that cannot correctly perform a simple diagnostic check to service, repair and/or install your HVAC system? Avoid this HVAC company and keep looking. read more

We had a problem about a month ago before it really got hot. Our furnace would not go on. After Steve diagnosed the problem, it turned out to be the thermostat, which he did not have on the truck. With the hot weather due any day, Steve said he wanted to make sure we would be comfortable so he called around and found where he could get a thermostat that day and made sure we would be comfortable. What was an unexpected surprise, was the follow up call to make sure everything was working fine and to see if we had any questions on how to use the thermostat. Great service, great customer care, would use them again in a heart beat :-) read more

Several weeks back we had quite a heatwave in this area. Of course that's when my air conditioner decided it no longer wanted to work. I called a local company to look at my system. After coming out they assessed my air conditioner and told me that I had to buy a new system due to its age. A plumber I was working with recommended this Crne's Environmental and I called on a Saturday. I worked with Al who came down at the end of the day to look at my system. He quickly confirmed that the motor was bad and needed to be replaced. He talked me through what was needed and the result was that I didn't need an entirely new $3000+ system, but instead a much less expensive motor replacement. He was able to work through the swap with me resulting in a substantially smaller bill. Sears (its a Kenmore AC system) recently came out for another item in my house and I talked to them about this repair. They told me that I didn't need a new system and that the repair put in place was correct. How's that for confirmation!!! In the end, I am very glad to have found Crne's and will be using them for any and all repairs moving forward. While my system is old, I am able to go a bit longer and now budget for a new system. We had to replace our entire HVAC system after confirming we had a leak in a 15+year system in our condo. We reached out to a local company that came out quickly but spent about 5 minutes in our place before sending us a quote for a full replacement. When we called CRNE, Al (the owner) came over and spent the better part of an hour just taking measurements before working on an offer. His commitment to not rushing through the inspection in order to make sure a replacement system was the correct fit was obvious and appreciated. We got the offer the next morning and had productive and efficient conversations with Joy in the office who was prompt and knowledgeable. The team was made up of Tommy (there were two guys named Tommy), Al, and Billy. Both days they arrived promptly and got right to work. They were pleasant and hardworking the entire day. We could tell they paid much attention to detail and wanted to get it right for us.  They even took the time to clean the floor of the room and left it looking better than they found it. Tommy B. in particular took the time to walk us through the entire system, explaining how it works in a way that was understandable, and took extra time to teach us the new thermostat system. Our new system is noticably cooler and also QUIETER, which was an extremely pleasant surprise. The old saying is true, that you get what you pay for. CRNE did an overall great job. read more

We lost our heat just as temps hit single digits. C'rnes was out that same day and after realizing we would need to replace a costly motor we decided to purchase a new unit. The technician, Steve offered options that would fit the existing space and my budget! The new unit was installed quickly and professionally. It was discovered that there was a zoning issue and again, solutions were given to solve the issue and provide a better balanced distribution of air flow. We have been customers of Crne's for approximately 5 years now. Steve is our tech and he is outstanding. We had a small emergency just last Sunday and he came over Monday morning after returning from vacation. Talk about outstanding service!!! These guys were awesome. On the hottest days of the summer, Al or Mike returned calls within minutes or less than an hour. We had a really tricky situation with a short circuit in our air conditioner and Al and Mike came back five times over a 10 day period to keep working at fixing the root cause.
