This was the first time using Glenbrook heating and A/C. I was looking for a new company to service both my a/c and heating units as I was not to happy with my current company that has been servicing my units.  A family member suggested I call Glenbrook as they were using them for over 25 years and they were very happy with their service and professionalism. I was planning on calling them to set up a maintenance program for both my units weeks ago, but never got to it. Earlier this morning my wife woke me up saying we have no heat. The temperature was 52 degrees in our home, very cold and obviously uncomfortable. I had called Glenbrook heating on their open at 8.00am and spoke to Jill. I Explained the situation and Jill set up a service call for a sameday am service call. While still on the phone with Jill my heat kicked back on. I still asked for them to check out my furnace. She gave me the names of the service techs who would be coming out (Brian & Nick) Jill said they will text me when they were on they way. I received Brians text within the hour of hanging up with Jill. At 9:05 they arrived. Both Brian and Nick gave me a friendly greeting and then went to work. After cleaning and analyzing my furnace they didn't find anything wrong with the  furnace itself. (What a relief)  Next Brian had inspected my thermostat which was installed in 1994 and noticed the contacts had worn down which could have caused my furnace not turning on all the time. It had happened before and came right back on. Brian suggested replacing the thermostat and my April air filter as well. Needless to say I signed up with their maintenance program, which they honored on this visit. By doing so  I received a 10% discount on the purchase of the thermostat and the filter purchased. Glenbrook Heating & Air Conditioning is the very best. When I inquired about getting a quote for an entire new AC System (i.e., new AC Condenser, Evaporator Coil, and Lineset) - as, I had been told by another local HVAC company that my existing system had a "bad refrigerant leak" and needed to be replaced - Glenbrook Heating & Air Conditioning came out the very next day to take a look at my specific setup in an effort to provide me an accurate estimate. While Brad (Owner) and Brian (Highly Skilled Technician) where at my house to put together a new system quote, they were actually able to find the refrigerant leak in my existing AC System - simply by looking at the surface of the system - when, one of their competitors had been unable to find the leak even after performing a "leak search." After finding the leak, Brad told me that I actually did not need to replace anything. The two gentlemen then left for a few minutes to get the required parts to fix my leak (basically, on the spot), were able to quickly and skillfully fix the leak, and had my AC System back up and running in no time. I truly feel blessed to have found a company with such honesty and integrity. Moving forward, I will be using Glenbrook Heating & Air Conditioning for all of my bi-annual system checkups/cleanings - in an effort to ensure my HVAC system is kept in tip-top condition - and will be using Glenbrook Heating & Air Conditioning for all of my future HVAC needs (i.e., I am now a customer for life). I used Glenbrook Heating & Air for the first time today. Scheduling was comfortable. I received welcome text confirmations the day of and as the technician was on the way to the house. Arrival time was excellent. This was a maintenance visit for 2 units with an additional chronic nagging electronic issue with one of them. I found Dominick to be very professional. Their quoted price was fair and he spent extra time corresponding with the manufacturer to precisely diagnose what was wrong with the circuit module. He was honest and forthright about the longevity of my existing unit and I did not feel pressured (which tends to push me away). I would recommend this terrific company confidently without reservation. I will plan to use them for maintenance going forward and especially when my unit needs replacing down the road. read more

It was the first warm day we had in Chicago...yay! We turned on the air conditioner for the first time since moving into our house and discovered that it was blowing hot air...boo! I called Glenbrook Heating & Air Conditioning based on a friend's recommendation and arranged a time for them to come get the air running again. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get out to us until the following week because you can't fix air conditioners unless it's hot outside. Learned something new since i grew up in South Florida where you need your air conditioner 350 days/year. The two guys they sent to me arrived 15 minutes early, which I find to be a rare occurrence when it comes to service providers. They spent about 30 minutes cleaning our downstairs air conditioner and figuring out the issue w/ the upstairs air conditioner. And then spoke to me in air conditioner greek describing some sort of leak. The only thing I did understand was that they couldn't replace what we needed because we'd be better off sticking with our current rheem air conditioner brand, which they don't carry. I called the sweet woman in the office and she dumbed down the explanation for me and even gave me a few suggestions of companies that do carry rheem products. I thought it was pretty cool that they admitted I'd save money and hassle by going elsewhere rather than trying to get more business from me. I was sad they couldn't fix our current issue, but would definitely call them for cleaning service and other issues in the future. read more

Our furnace conked out a cold spring day, I called Glenbrook due to their high Yelp rating. The house is the primary residence for our 90 year old mom, so needed to get the situation taken care of ASAP. The tech came right away, was very friendly, professional and thorough . After taking it apart, he explained our options, we chose to replace it rather than repair, and they rearranged their schedule to get a 2 man back out first thing the next morning. They were equally professional, and had it installed and working in a couple of hours. Wasn't cheap, but we wanted it quick, and with good quality, so we got exactly what we needed and are very satisfied. read more

Dominick was very prompt, efficient and quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor, not a dead compressor. He had one in the truck and we quickly had air conditioning again. When I spoke with Jill on Monday she was candid that they were very busy and could not get to us for at least 24 hours - in case we wished to try elsewhere. We chose to wait and I'm pleased we did. Can't speak highly enough of Glenbrook Heating & Cooling. They are extremely professional, timely, and reasonable when it comes to heating and cooling products and services. We had our furnace and a/c units installed this past summer and Brad came out (on-time) for a free estimate and explained the entire quote and process the next day. In addition, they were on-time for delivery and installation of the units, had installed within one-day and came back a week later to ensure that everything was working properly. In addition to the above, we had a large issue with our thermostat on a -15 degree day New Years Day and Brad offered to stop by and assist. Brad and the team's customer service is excellent. We have tenants who were having issues with their furnace. Brad was responsive during all hours during busy seasons as well. We ended up buying a furnace and hot water heater which was installed right away and was very well priced. A couple months later, the gas shut off valve has a small leak. When I called Brad, he was there right away, replaced it within 15 minutes without any hassles as part of his warranty service. I consider myself quite selective when it comes to trusting others with these sorts of things. I have used Glenbrook Heating and AC for 15 years. The family owned business is reliable and on time for all appointments. Brad is great for problem solving and never creates them! Update 11/16/17 GH & AC continues to maintain the same high ethical standards that I have come to expect. I have now been a client of the company for 18 years--- and I have been spoiled! The quality of the work is excellent and repairs are made only when needed . Scheduled appointments are honored. Reminder calls are always made to keep everyone in the loop. Dissappointed and misled. At first, I enjoyed working with Jill and thought Brad did fairly priced, honest work. I spent several thousand dollars with them. Then, Brad came to fix an issue that turned out to be so simple, it was practically like resetting a circuit breaker; something most any homeowner could do, and I had simply overlooked. Rather than tell me the problem and let me decide how to deal with it, he addressed it without informing me and spending less than 30 minutes and using no parts. Nonetheless, Jill sent me a bill for almost $250. When I talked to Brad about some accommodation, he got defensive and reminded me that he charged $98 just to come to the house. I paid the bill. Despite that, I called Jill in January when the garage furnance stopped working. One of Brad's tech guys took a 5 minute look at the furnance and told me the inducer fan had frozen up, and I needed a new furnance. I politely probed whether the issue required an entire new furnace, but he said yes and besides, the furnace is "is so old it's liability." Jill and Brad sent me a quote for about $3500. I have no HVAC experience and had no way to judge the veracity of the tech's claims. However, I explained this issue and the furnace's age to but both a friend with significant HVAC experience and another HVAC contractor (with no skin in the game). They told me the "so old it's a liability" claim was a gross mis-representation and, if the tech was correct about the problem, it could be fixed. Even though I have absolutely no HVAC experience, I fixed the furnace (there were actually two issues) for under $500. The furnace has been running like a champ, and I saved $3000 that Brad was looking to put in his pocket. read more

These guys were very helpful making time to come to my house on a very busy day to look at my furnace. Brad was the tech that came out and was very honest in telling me that he only had to restart the furnace a couple times and the issue resolved itself (maybe some ice blocking the lines melted). He could have told me it was a more costly repair and I would have never known. He was very knowledgeable and also gave me lots of free advice and told me some things he'd seen at other houses in the area to be aware of. As he was driving away after he fixed the issue he noticed more vents outside our house that had ice on them and got out to fix those as well without me asking. Would recommend. read more
