Exceptional Service If I could give American Weathermakers 6 stars, I would for the exceptional service that I received from them on February 23, 2026. I woke up that morning to temperatures outside in the low 20's (degree Fahrenheit) and a temperature 10 degrees cooler inside my house than for what the thermostat was set at. My 16-year old furnace had shut down. I immediately called American Weathermakers, and their service was exceptional from start to finish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I first spoke with Josie who answered the phone. She was professional and caring at the same time[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told her that I thought that I might need a new furnace, and she caught up with the owner, Stephen Adamitis, who was in the office and said he could deliver it and have it installed that day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next step was to have the engineer, Rob Frechette, come out and give an estimate. He came out immediately, gave a fair price, and arranged to have the intallers come out with the furnace no later than a couple of hours later, by 11:00 am. Rob was true to his word as the installers, Dan and Ray, were at my house, ready to work, by 11:00 am. Both Dan and Ray were efficient, courteous, professional, and kept me informed of their progress every step of the way. I also observed that they had an excellent work relationship, as they worked very well together. They finished the installation ahead of what was thought to be the allotted time to install it, and spent time after to explain what they did and to make sure that it was running correctly and heating up my house again. This place is very expensive for average work. I was without hot water when I called them and I was completely ripped on using the oldest trick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some gruff guy named Frank made it seem like he was doing me a favor and wouldn't answer to many questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up paying 3 x the sales price plus instal. You've ruined the comfort club program... this was the only reason to remain loyal to your company for the past 8 years. Now you charge $99 to be a club member and still charged $120 for the tune-up, even though you're willing to lower it to $110 for prepaying, which I've never had to do in the past and was completely unaware of because nobody communicated this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After calling to get a refund, nothing was provided except excuses.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is unfortunate because the technicians have always been wonderful and I fear this will only hurt them in the end. read more

Terrible experience and more costly to replace. Be warned there is a distinct difference between a callout fee and what they charge for "service" after a technician is on site. Don't get caught thinking a "diagnostic fee" for $98.00 covers ANYTHING other than a technician stepping on your property. Maybe that's on me for trusting or thinking that a diagnostic would actually include telling me whats wrong. After speaking with a manager he advised that taking a measurement of a vent and confirming my AC unit would need to be replaced that $215.00 was actually not a bad deal for me since their labor rate was closer to $400.00 (LUCKY ME RIGHT?!?) Comparatively, I had 4 other companies come out to quote replacement units and they ALL came well underneath the pricing for equipment and labor. It cost me $300+ to understand I'll never want to work with this company ever again, take some free advise, do yourself a favor and save the money go elsewhere. ***[[HIGHLIGHT]]Updated to 2 stars - I spoke with a manager who was able to refund me the $215.00 and re-assured me that some training would be taking place to address my concerns.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ended up going with another company to complete our AC replacement but I appreciated American Weathermakers reaching out to make things right. read more

The wall-unit furnace stopped working in one of my husband's apartments. He called American Weathermakers, and they sent someone out who looked at the unit and said that two parts needed to be replaced, but that it probably wasn't worth it. He recommended a new unit and there was a charge for over $300 just to come out and look at it, and make that assessment. The next day, they sent a salesman out who confirmed that a new furnace was recommended and that the old furnace (that is less than 10 years old) wasn't worth repairing. Their theory is that if you replace a couple of parts, a few more will go out.. and you'll be throwing good money after bad. Later that day, a quote was sent for $4500 for the furnace and installation. Mind you, this is a $1100 furnace (and Weathermakers probably gets it for less)...so they wanted to charge $3500 to install the same unit...not having to make any changes to the ductwork, electrical or gas connections.. Wisely, we decided to call another company to come out. They found one defective part, replaced it for $190, with an additional charge for the service call. The total charge was less than $400, and the furnace is working perfectly again. American Weathermakers people are prompt and courteous (hence the two stars). But like anything involving a repair or replacement, it certainly pays to get a second opinion. Otherwise, you may pay more than you need to! read more

Updating my review to 2 stars because the work was acceptable, even though AW and I disagree on pricing. I do not believe a ~$1200 replacement sump pump system should cost ~$3000 (all in) to install in an existing pit. They feel that is in line with their business costs. So it goes. Original review for reference: Last year our sump pump died and we had AW come out to assist. It was rather urgent because our location regularly gets water. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The good news is they came out quickly and replaced it within a day or two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately due to it being an emergency, I did not get multiple quotes. The service has always been outstanding but gets better each year with the process of scheduling to arriving at my house and the service expert, Jeff T was terrific. Everything this company was hired to fix in my house they made it worse. No, literally EVERYTHING. The incompetent plumber replaced a cartridge and popped a hole on the other side of the wall. It was a colossal mess to fix. They invalidating my warranty without telling me. The worst was the hvac guy who said I needed an entire new humidifier system, due to a drip, and he'd give me a break for 1K, when the problem was literally a loose bolt. Definitely DO NOT recommend this company. I was under a contract so stuck with them for a year. The ONLY upstanding employee was the last one I had for my Spring service. I also question the authenticity of some of these reviews. They offer a discount if you write a positive review, at least they offered that to me. Initially I wrote a glowing review. until I had water behind my wall and it was a downward incompetent work spiral from there. read more

Poor boiler(heating) service quality. The tech replaced a broken water pump, but the heat was not restored to all units. He gave different versions of stories about it. So I simply paid him anyway, but still have not got the receipt after 24 hours(called a couple of times). Also the pump was installed in a weird position with the service panel behind a pipe. It will be hard to maintain in the future. The power line simply hang in front of the boiler front-access panel. read more

Once again, American Weathermakers saved the day! Have used them for over 30 years and they've been consistently good in critical situations and continue to deliver quality service. During the last sub-zero cold spell with wind chills running in the minus 30 degree range, I woke on Sunday morning, about 6am, with the house a very chilly 52 degrees. Seems the furnace was not working! Immediately called American Weathermakers and reached their answering service. A very nice lady took my information and said someone call me back. About twenty minutes later, Zlatan Pasic, their Installation Manager, called and said he was headed into the office and would be going past my home and could stop and see if he could find the problem. When he arrived, he was immediately able to solve one problem but there was a blown circuit board that would need replacing. Obviously, he didn't have one with him but said he would check as soon as he was in the office and let me know where things stood. Told me it would take an hour or so to get back to me because he also needed to coordinate all the service calls coming in due to the storm and cold. He called about an hour later and said they had the circuit board (!!) and as soon as a technician was free and could get to the warehouse to pick it up, they would be out. Matt Merkelz, one of their service technicians, arrived within a couple hours with the part and had the unit up and running in short order. By late afternoon, my house was once again warm and snuggy! We had an inducted vent gas water heater installed in October. It was a complicated installation. Took 6 hours and cost $3900. Service was professional and thorough. Installers did not leave an owners manual nor the details as to warranty coverage. I was told that the office would forward it. It's been two months and two calls and still no documentation. They did ask me to renew the AC/Furnace yearly checks. Their follow-through is seriously lacking. read more

My AC stopped working a few weeks ago. American Weathermakers came out and diagnosed a defective compressor and low refrigerant and told me I needed a new AC. I had 3 other companies come out to give me quotes, and the third offered to take another look at the unit and was able to fix the AC by changing out the capacitor. While I was frustrated to have been told incorrectly that I needed a new unit, American Weathermakers did reach out right away to let me know this is not their method of working and promptly reimbursed me the service fee. During a recent cold spell, our furnace fan broke leaving us without heat. Called American Weathermakers around 8am and even though the temperature was below zero outside, Matt got to our house before noon and quickly confirmed the replacement part needed. Although it was a special part not normally in stock, they were able to track it down from a supplier and came back to get it installed by 5pm. Thankful for Matt and the rest of the team at American Weathermakers for the impressive follow through to get the issue resolved the very same day! They won't let you down. read more

Josh Anderson gave us a recommendation and quote for a Bosch/Rheem hybrid heat pump/furnace system late last year (2023). He came out and worked with the two installers. He came back today, 2/1/24, as he promised to check on the system and answer our questions. He fine tuned the system and answered even more questions. Everything went so smoothly! I haven't tried all the HVAC service companies out there but I have been satisfied with AW's service. We've used their annual maintenance contract for the last decade and when it came time to replace our furnace they were willing to deal to make me happy. We had Josh and his team come out and quote us on installing a Mini Split for a room in our condo that didn't have HVAC. He was such a professional and while we dragged our feet, he was always understanding and willing to chat with us. They were also able to schedule installation very quickly. When installation came around, Anthony and his coworker were professional and worked with us on placement. The Hide a Line they used is perfect and doesn't distract from our roof top view. Called this outfit on a recent 90 plus degree day after my AC quit working. Forget the 60 minute or $60 dollar credit line. Was told by woman who took my call that she wasn't sure when she could get someone out. Granted, I do have a system with an air handler and this would mean going into my attic but ads for this company don't stipulate that only under certain circumstances can one expect a repairman in 60 minutes. read more

American Weathermakers advertises on Chicago WBBM 105.9 radio. My heat went out and called Weathermakers in an emergency situation. I live on the south side of Chicago and they told me they do not service my area, the south side of Chicago. That is very poor service and you should mention that on your radio ads. I had an A/C that needed to be looked at. At 830 I called and confirmed an appointment for later in the day. Great! Just before noon I get a call that a manager/supervisor determined that American Weathermakers does not service the area and that they would NOT be coming out to look at the A/C. I explained that this really put me in a bad spot because I lost half a day of finding someone to look at the A/C. I asked if they would reconsider. They declined to reconsider and left me to scramble to find someone to look at the A/C... Unbelievable failure on 2 levels... absolutely ridiculous read more
