We have had the opportunity to work with Critter Control (of Denver/Colorado Springs but they service Boulder as well) twice in the past 2 months. After months of scampering feet above our bedroom ceiling (which escalated into construction-grade gnawing) we contacted them seeking a humane solution for whatever had penetrated our roof. Rick came out and surveyed the roof finding a hole created by a squirrel which had taken up residence inside. He provided an estimate for the work to remove and repair the squirrel damage, and additional preventative work to install drip flashing under our eaves which all had gaps. We elected to just proceed with eradicating the squirrel which involved installing a one-way door to allow it to escape, waiting a week or so to ensure it was gone then sealing the roof. They did an excellent job. Fast forward two months and the same sort of loud gnawing began again. We called Critter Control again and Ryan came out to find a squirrel had created a hole in another area of the roof, actually in two places. This time we decided to take steps to allow the squirrel to leave and repair the damage in addition to installing the drip flashing to seal up areas they might penetrate the roof again. Before setting a date to install the one-way door I happened to mention my next door neighbors had discovered a nest of squirrel babies in their flower box a week prior. It is early for squirrel baby season however Ryan was cautious, knowing squirrels are territorial and there was a good chance the mother had moved the babies into our roof. Not wanting to take a chance on babies being in the roof and unable to leave, he guided us to wait 3 weeks before proceeding with the one way door installation. We appreciated the humane option and that they began the flashing installation almost immediately to ensure no additional breaches of our roof. I would absolutely use Critter Control again and have recommended them to others. I appreciate their prompt response and communication, their professionalism and guidance (this is our first time of this type of thing happening) and their humane goal of removing intruding wildlife and repairing the damage with an eye toward avoiding similar future episodes. read more

As a commercial property management team, we hired Critter Control to resolve a skunk issue at a retail shopping center. While the initial technician arrived within the scheduled window, the subsequent communication, follow-up, and billing processes were completely unacceptable. Critter Control prematurely confirmed that the skunk had been removed, but the pest problem remains fully unresolved. Because we relied on their confirmation, this failure severely compromised our credibility with our tenants and made our management team look unprofessional. When we requested that they return to finish the job, the company refused. They cited non-payment for invoices that they had not yet generated or sent to us. To complicate matters, their accounts receivable department demonstrated a concerning lack of understanding regarding standard commercial payment regulations and records. We fully paid for the initial service via check, yet the job was left incomplete. Due to this severe lack of follow-through, billing errors, and the resulting damage to our tenant relations, we strongly advise against using this company for commercial properties. read more

Beware!!!! They give you an A+ presentation, but their delivery is a D-. They bid $2470 to protect my house from wild critters. Their workman was here for 6 hours and did not have a work order telling him what to do...I had to direct his work. After I complained about their poor performance, they refunded $750. read more

My mother called Critter Control (Boulder) for service. She is 86 years old and confined to a walker. She has been hallucinating and sees "critters" in her bedroom. It is obvious to anyone with half a brain that there is nothing there. The critter she described to Critter Control was a rodent with blue eyes.... (based on a google search, NO rodents have blue eyes). There are no droppings and no evidence of any rodents in the house, specifically in the bedroom where my mother "sees" them. I put sticky traps out myself and even left a slice of bread under her dresser for weeks without it being touched. Critter control (Spencer Gildersleeve and Dana Carwin) still found it acceptable to do an initial service for $329 and two follow up visits for $95 each ($519 total). I am appalled that Critter Control would take advantage of an old woman by taking her hard-earned money. None of their indoor traps have caught a single thing and no evidence of any "critter" has been found. I've spoken with 3 people at Critter control including Dana Carwin who arranged the contract with my mother. Dana said a manager would call with possible restitution, but I have not received any further communication. Critter Control did respond to my review on Yelp with "Will look into it" (two years ago)...... So either Critter Control technicians are clueless or they are willing to rip people off, either way I would never use their service..... this is a repost since I saw Critter Control with a 5 star rating in the Boulder County "Five Star Rated" guidebook.... with this in mind, I wouldn't trust any other recommendations in that book. You said your Technician communicated to both ME and my mother that no evidence of pests were found..... I would never use this company again. Horrible with response time, after being paid and problem still occurring. Dealing with same issue for over 4 months. One person delegates problem to another person and job is still NOT complete. Terrible service and wish we never trusted the general manager Waste of money. @ Adrienne. We have spent over $5k, so our budget was not slim. The lack of response to emails, texts, and calls was extremely poor. No follow-ups when promised from Brad and Dana. All talk and no action. I have had call, text and email repeatedly! They should have brought the game cameras from the beginning or at least after the second visit, when I told them the problem still existed, now the game cameras are being withheld, because of my negative review? Please make that make sense? If you were getting woken up at 3,5,6 am continuously after spending 5k, I'm pretty sure you would be upset and want a refund. I have an autistic kid and now his sleep is being affected and to get him to sleep is a challenge within itself. So please don't come at me about our budget!!!! We literally took Brad's advice. Refuse to spend one more penny with this company. On the website, it says Satisfaction Guaranteed? Obviously, we are not satisfied. Wow! We called for a skunk problem. Critter control came out ASAP and were highly professional.

I've never written a Yelp review but I thought my experience with Critter Control warrants it. I'd just want any future potential customer of Critter Control to know how much of a trash business they are. They spent about 15 mins in my yard setting 2 traps for raccoons and when they didn't work the first night, came back added some McMuffins, literal McMuffins to the trap, another 10 mins in the yard and they left. Then one of their traps was set off by itself with nothing in it, they came back to reset it. The trap caught 1 racoon on the second night and I called to inform them of the catch, this was around 7-8am, and I had hoped they would come by immediately and dispose of the animal and instead they informed me they would be by that afternoon to check on it, leaving the angry racoon trapped in my yard for hours. I also told them the racoon was trying to escape the trap and they insured me that the raccoons "never get out of the traps" and about 15 mins after that call at around 8:30am, I watched my backyard camera as the racoon escaped from the trap and jumped my fence. Critter Control showed up hours later, basically said "too bad", took the traps and left and charged me $400 for their "expert" service. They are just as trash of a business as the rodent and pests they claim to catch. Would never recommend to anyone. read more

I can not actually review the services performed by this company because I did not let it get that far. Let me tell you what I wish was a story. I woke up to something crawling and scratching over my head; from the sounds of it, it was elephantine. I called Critter Control to make an appointment for someone to check out this problem. When my call was returned, I was told someone could come out in 5 days and that they would check the roof for any evidence of entry. I asked if they would check the attic since that was where I heard the noise, the person on the phone said: "they caaaaan." Odd, I thought, but I persevered. So, I then asked if she could give me a ballpark figure of what something like this would cost. She said it depends on how many entry points and what damage was done. Fair. I said, "In general, what is the range for something like this - a new occurrence, probably an animal that just got in because this is the first time we have heard anything so, I doubt they've had time to do a ton of damage." She replied: " the inspection is free but I don't know what it will cost, in the thousands." WHAT???? I thought I misheard because I was on speaker phone so, I repeated back the question and response. I said, " the inspection of my roof will be free, but any work that may have to be done will be at least a thousand dollars?" She responded: "Yup." I went someplace else. They got to my house in two days and cost $125.00. read more

So, long story but I'll keep it brief. I had CC come out for an estimate in July for control work on a mobile home. The first estimate I received was for over $16,000. I told them there was part of the job I needed done so could we talk about that part. Turns out the guy who did the estimate was no longer with the company so I ask them to redo the estimate for just the work I needed done. They didn't want to come all the way back out to do the estimate so we talked it through on the phone and I sent photos for them to look at. They (Ryan) said the scope of work is not something they usually do but they had done it once and could do the work. 9/8/17 I email and say put me on the schedule please. I don't hear back so I call 9/15/17 and hear we didn't put you on the schedule could you please send a signed contract back? I send the sighed contract. No reply, I call again. We didn't get the signed contract so I send it again to the same email and what do you know they got it and put me on the schedule a month out. I get the home sold and have to postpone the closing because I'm waiting for the work to be done. Today, they call from the job and say they can't do the work because it's not going as planed and they can't figure out what to do. All they had to do was remove some insulation and replace it, then patch the bellie-board on the underneath side of a mobile home. Now I'm stuck calling the buyer of this home to put off the closing to who knows when because I have to find someone else to do the work. meanwhile I have water pipes that could freeze because there is no insulation.
