This place makes exceptional quality pastries! Definitely will be back to try more stuff.

Baguette with cheese and butter, Raspberry Danish, jalapeño cheddar Danish

This is for my TGTG(Toogoodtogo) order. Although I have been here in the past, learning that Crispian is proactive about lessening food waste makes me love them even more! I arrived around 2:45PM on Sunday to pick up my order. The parking, although a bit small, was okay in my Honda Civic. However, it may be tight for a bigger car. I walked into the store as another customer let me know they were giving out baguettes. Sweet! There were two employees working in the front, and as soon as I walked up, I let them know I was here for my TGTG order. They have bags already made and set up behind the counter. In addition they had day of baguettes in front too. The guy handed me my bag, which consisted of 3 pastries. I got: - Raspberry fruit Danish (sweet, good either tea) - Jalapeño cheddar Danish(Nice spice and kick) - Sweet cream type Danish I also got a baguette not part of the TGTG All delicious! I did save some for the next day to heat up for breakfast.

The delicious half-sheet chocolate cake made by Crispian Bakery. It was a hit at the office party.

Ordered a half-sheet chocolate cake for my husband's office party (a joint birthday celebration) at a Bay Area hospital. It turned out fantastic according to my hubs who said that everyone gave the cake rave reviews! There wasn't much leftover cake. ;) My experience with this bakery was top notch--from ordering the cake on short notice to the ease of my hub's pick-up in the AM before his commute to work. I had jumped in last minute to help him out since he was in the midst of a big work week. I appreciated connecting with friendly staff who were very service-oriented and gave me confidence that this rush order would go smoothly . Note to Crispian Bakery: Thanks so much!! My hubs told me that his colleagues asked where he got the cake and he gladly gave you props! =))

Chocolate mousse cake

This bakery is so good. Their cream puff is the best and I always have to get one when we are near by. I decided to order a birthday cake for my husband's birthday. The chocolate mousse cake and not only was it fucking fantastic, but really affordable! I can't believe it. Definitely coming here for my birthday as well!

Okay, finally time for an update. Cut and pasted from their website "Crispian Bakery is a small-batch bakery producing French-inspired American breads and pastry for the San Francisco Bay Area." I attended an event today and wanted to bring some baked goods from Alameda's best bakeries. Quality/Quantity - Stone Fruit Pie - One of today's seasonal pies; almost bought both signature pies. This was a hit!! Out of all the desserts brought to the event, this was the BEST. See Feel Good Bakery Yelp for the other dessert we brought to the event. Atmosphere - Small take-away location. Plenty of street parking, I believe they share the small parking lot in the back...? Service - Good, very patient with us as we wanted to get the best dessert for our event. Price - $35. Expensive, but that is the cost for quality. Worth it as well, as it earned me "street credit" for bringing the best dessert to the event. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2015 at this location; I know you did farmers markets prior.

they safe the freshest Japanese milk breads and great pastries. definitely worth visiting for the breads.

Apple turnover
Lorena N.

I ordered the raspberry cream puff, apple turnover, and jalapeño cheddar croissant for around 16 dollars. The employee that helped me out was super nice and helpful when ordering. The pastries were huge bigger than the size of my palm except the cream puff, however the cream puff was super delicious and creamy. It felt like I was eating ice cream. The jalapeños the croissant were spicy compared to others I've tried. I'm saving the apple turnover for later but I'm pretty sure it will be delicious like everything else.

Passionfruit Wedding Cake

I ordered my wedding cake and desserts from Crispian Bakery with a number of special requests and they went above and beyond to deliver. I am Filipino and really wanted to have that represented in the food so I asked them if they could make bite sized bibingkas as well as bite sized tartlets that embodied Halo-Halo for our desserts. They were absolutely wonderful. My family from Hawaii kept going back for the treats so that was all the proof I needed that they were delicious. Not only was the taste scrumptious but their presentation was on point. Now for a review of the cake. I LOVED IT!!! Ughhh, I didn't want to cut into it - it was everything I had envisioned in my mind. But alas, I had to share. The inside was just as yummy as the outside was beautiful. We had sheet cakes for the guests so I was lucky enough to get to bring the actual cake home at the end of the night. We had a "cake" get together with friends a few nights later to savor the last of the cake. Soooo delicious. We had ordered the passionfruit buttercream cake. Three layers of light vanilla cake and passionfruit curd filling. Multiple guests said it was the best wedding cake they have ever had. Thank you again Crispian Bakery for making our day extra epic with the BEST. WEDDING. CAKE. EVER.

Left: Buiphong bakery's croissant for $1, Right: Crispian bakery's croissant for $3. Both good, Crispian's was more buttery and crispy.

So far everything I've tried here is well made and delectable. You can taste the quality ingredients and see the skill and care they place in their bakery products. Their staff here are nice too. Today I picked up a selection of pastry items for a small mid-day tea gathering at my home. Got the pumpkin muffin, ginger scone, cheese and chives scone, and a hearty slab of their apple slice. Everyone liked what they tried and it paired perfectly with tea or coffee. I especially liked their ginger scone (made with candied ginger bits).

Too Good to Go pastries
Sydney J.

I decided to give them a try when I saw they were offering discounted leftovers on the Too Good to Go App. I arrived a little earlier than the designated pickup window, but the friendly staff there informed me it was possible to pick it up early and just tap into the app to confirm I had picked up; I really appreciate them sharing this tip with me since this whole time, I was unaware you could do that with TGTG orders, and it saved me having to wait until the pickup time began. They gave me four pastries total - a croissant, a bun shaped like a cinnamon roll but which was more savory/spicy and not sweet (not sure what this is called), and two danishes of differing flavors (one tasted more like jam with some custard, while the other was more like apricot or peach preserves in the middle). I did find the roll a bit spicy, it probably has jalapenos or something in it, but it was nice having an item that was less sweet in the bunch. The danishes were good. I'm not personally much of a fan of croissants, but it was decent. All the buns still tasted pretty fresh and not stale. Overall, I thought this was a good deal financially and am glad that the bakery participates in TGTG.

A cute cafe and bakery where you can swing by to get some freshly baked pastries or coffee. Service is friendly and the prices are really affordable for freshly baked food. I really enjoyed the banana bread. It was a thick slice of moist and not-too-sweet goodness. Would come back!

Does Bethany W still own Crispian Bakery? Do they still bake their items onsite in the back?

It wasn't overly sweet and still maintained that earthy matcha flavor that many places tend to lose when they jump on the matcha trend. My husband ordered the Vanilla Bean Caramel Latte, also from the seasonal menu, and loved it so much that he said this is now his favorite coffee spot. Safe to say, whenever we're back in town, we'll definitely be returning!

The seating is mostly at table tables along the wall walls of window. It was kind of neat to be able to sit and watch people walk by in the traffic as it ebbed and flowed toward the bridge. The early morning was rather quiet outside so it wasn't noisy at all. I had a lovely chai latte, extra spicy. It was perfect after the chilly walk to this little space of warmth. They had a nice selection of pastries, ultimately I chose a danish because I love them. This one did not disappoint. It was tender and flaky and went perfectly dipped in my chai. If ever, we are in the area again, I will definitely pay another visit. It was nice to step into a local place that wasn't a chain. I think the quality of staff and consumable offerings was just so much better than you would find at one of the other places.

If you order a drink, it will take them a little bit, be prepared to sit down outside or read one of their many lovely Asian influenced cookbooks. This also means drink order slow down the service in general and do create a bit of a line. Overall, they work quickly and politely and are happy to discuss the pastries. The good: Their cookies have the perfect texture and the cocobae is superb. The milk buns are pillowy and filled with delicious cream plus crunchy craquelin. Their swirly sweet laminated bun that changes flavor every month is a delight and the bottom is deliciously caramelized. The merengue tarts are perfection. Pound cakes have great flavor altho the texture is not traditional and doesn't hit me right. Can't miss with a mochi bite tho. The bad: The savory treats have been underwhelming (tried 4 different ones iirc). Drinks include matcha from Asha tea house (very nice choice) but are very overpriced (like $7 for matcha? what?) so I skip them. Sweet treats still so excellent and unique that this spot gets 5 stars.
