Fortunately, I decided to venture down a search into the more local small businesses and came upon this cool old school & quirky shop. I think the gentleman's name was Jim. Older dude that could pass as your nerdy techy friend who's probably collected every tech gadget since the original Tron came out. Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

My husband contacted Microsoft and they told him to take it to radio shack. We had other shopping to do and drove to the Radio Shack in Salem. We were informed that they could not do anything because my son with Autism took off one key by accident (he is fascinated with how things work) This had nothing to do with the laptop not working, but I understand that employees have to follow policies. I thought about looking at a replacement and the employee was very rude. He said "you get what you pay for" and said it was no surprise our cheap laptop quit so soon. He showed me laptops in the $1000 range and told me that I needed to buy one of those or something nicer if I wanted my children to have decent laptops, implying that I was a cheapskate who bought my kids two pieces of junk. He did this in front of my children. I am not paying $2,000 for laptops and do not appreciate being told I am cheap in front of my children. I will not go back.

Very terse and short with all customers. I know the job probably sucks, so whatever. I had waited 20 minutes to get help because I needed something from the stock room, and had to wait while she activated someone's phone. No one else was working there. Fine, I understand that. Not her fault they are understaffed. Then she got my stuff from the back. The item was on sale, but then she had to do some extremely complex transaction and then go back to the stock room to print something and then scan it so I could save $5 bucks. I commented that their system seems rather antiquated. Then, of course, she had to see my ID even though Master Card policy prohibits requiring showing positive ID. I told her, fine, but that it is against Mastercard policy. Look it up if you don't believe me. It"s my pet peeve that I have to go through a bunch of BS to prove my ID at a retail store, when I can just punch in my card number online and be done. Some weirdo standing there (people were starting to line up in random locations) then asked my "why are you so rude, when she is just doing her job". He was very aggressive, and I realized that the clientele in this place by-and-large seems pretty sketchy. He may have had a point, but that lady and that cluster**** of that place just brought out the worst in me. That guy and I proceeded to have an argument right in the store. He told me the batteries I was buying wouldn't last 10 minutes, and I told him how rude it is of him to insult these fine Radio Shack product.s. He kept right on blabbering about my rudeness as I walked out with my purchase (which I now wish I had just abandoned the whole thing). Well, let's just say my days of Radio Shack are over. To that fine upstanding citizen and that stellar customer service provider, you need not worry that I will ever again bring my rude self into Radio Shack.

This review is specific to service I received in the electronics department recently. I had…read morepreviously had two painful customer service calls with my cell phone company trying to get a new phone set up; when they were unable to help me, they advised me to go to a local Target for help. I was expecting to have another painful 30+ minute visit with someone repeatedly repositioning SIM cards in my phone and powering it off and on. Fortunately, Noah was working in the department that day and was able to get my phone up and running with no issues at all! He was friendly and efficient, patiently helped me get my phone set up, and gave me some tips on looking for a cover and all. Hopefully my phone will behave itself, but if anything comes up I'll be coming to this store first before wasting my time trying to call my service provider.

The reason we went to the VO store is because TVs have changed so much (and are constantly changing) and we wanted to chat with someone knowledgable about TVs. Granted each seller has their own preferred TV brands that they sell, but it was great to chat with someone about the brands, types, sizes and comparisons. At the Salem Lancaster Video Only store that person is Doug. He was SUPER knowledgable about the TVs and the different types and amenitites on each. He scrolled through the competition prices on line with me and explained in detail how Video Only sell their TVs, pricing and warranties, etc. He was extremely detailed so that everything was clear. Once we decided to go with the TVs at Video Only (two different brands), he gave me extremely valuable tips for setting up our TVs at home and was just an amazingly personable, professional employee. I even called him ON LABOR DAY when I was having trouble setting up one TV and he was there and told me what to do. It worked flawlessly. Doug at Video Only has made me a believer.
