Well, these guys are very knowledgeable. I went in seeking CarPlay for my wife's 2016 Mercedes C300. If anyone knows about Mercedes, not an easy find regarding technology compatible with these cars. Andrew was very helpful and honest about what was available - pros and cons. In the end, the solution was just not a good fit for our application. It wasn't a price issue. It was a wife issue. The solution would not have been automatic. Meaning turn the car on and it immediately acts like a car that already has it installed. It was really my decision not to move forward. Damon is an awesome guy he listened to what I wanted, did a few demos in the sound room made a few suggestions and showed me different options. After the install when I got my car back ran into a few hiccups, Damon and crew did their best to problem solve with no success. I did some research and found out that when the voltage would drop below 10V the sub amp or both amps would clip, so bought a new interstate battery and a new auxiliary battery and problem solved! read more

I just had two great experiences with Hear No Evil. We recently purchased a used car and wanted to replace the head-unit so we could have CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. We shopped around a couple of places in the area before coming to Hear No Evil. I have to admit, I've had a notion in my head for years that this place would be overpriced and kinda snooty. I couldn't have been more wrong. We were greeted promptly, and even after saying that we weren't looking for a high end unit or any other stereo upgrades, Andrew took the time to walk us through all the units that answered our needs and didn't push us toward features we didn't want to pay for. After working up the initial quote, we came in at about the same price as the other places we'd checked, but that now included a considerably better head-unit that we were offered for that price elsewhere. They were upfront about the possible costs or delays that might happen once they actually opened up the dash of the car. It was all very reasonable. Once a necessary wiring harness was delivered, our car was ready in the timeframe quoted, the work looked great, no damage to our car interior, and as a bonus, they came in a couple hundred dollars under the base quote. It's a treat anymore to find a place that is competent, honest, and actually cares about their work. We're so happy we wish we could use them for our taxes, dry-cleaning, plumbing, lawyer services, and if they had a drive through I'd get my coffee there. Moving ahead a few days, I was looking for a pair of wired headphones for a digital piano, and remembered seeing a few pair on display in their lobby. This isn't really their specialty, but they had 3-4 models ranging from $100-$1400 dollars. Again, walked in and said I wasn't looking for the most expensive option. The guys unboxed each model, asked what I was going to be plugging them into most, found a system and music track that would give me the best approximation of my end use, and never bothered me while I took my time swapping between models. They even got out the $1400 set for me to try, not because there was any chance I was going to spend that much, but just because these guys are actually interested in these things and love letting you experience the really cool stuff out there. When the budget permits, we'll definitely be bringing in our old truck to have a CarPlay capable unit put in by these folks. read more

Five stars seems like an insult, their better than that. I asked them to install speakrs and an amp in our 2023 subaru crosstrek and sound deadening in the doors. Andrew was unfazed when I explained my goal was sound quality vs high volume as I'm old and wear hearing aids. Any shop should be able to do loud but it takes skill to do what I wanted. The Subaru starlink system will malfunction if speaks and amp aren't added correctly and Chris knew how to avoid any problems. Okay I've always passed by this place but have never went inside until today. It's very nice inside. I needed a part for my double din install and no one in town had it besides here. So pretty much they saved me a lot of time and gas. I was able to put it on hold and come pick it up. The staff was very friendly and knows what they're talking about. I asked about a price match which they don't do but the product ended up way lower than my price match anyways so I was very thankful. They definitely put you first. I ran into a problem when trying to install my own stereo system, so I took it to Hear No Evil. Chris obviously knew what he was doing, and everything looks and works great. I give them five stars because I also asked them to install a power antenna. Chris was sharp enough to catch that there was a flaw in the antenna that caused reception to cut out. He thought it was the cable, so he replaced it, but the problem persisted. Rather than sending me home with a bad antenna and hoping I wouldn't notice, they were up front about it and ordered a new antenna, and will install it when it arrives. The price was a bit high, but it was obvious that my stereo and speakers and antenna were being installed by someone who knew exactly what he was doing. I went into this place about 20 minutes before closing to try to buy a center speaker for my home theater system - I had to drive about an hour out after work to get to this place on time. I had called them already that afternoon so I had an idea of what I was going to buy, but the staff were helpful at giving me the comparisons between the speakers I wanted. I was impressed with how clean and modern the showroom was, how well everything was laid out, and at how straightforward the salespeople were. I did not feel like I was being upsold at any moment. However if you do have any questions you should not be afraid to ask them for their opinions. I eventually decided to go with one of their clearance models - a Paradigm CC-290 V.5 (none left!) Even though I was quoted $350 on the phone, the salesperson on the spot decided that he could let it go for $325 - a much better deal than what I would have been buying in a high-end audio store in Portland. Even while I was looking around, I saw a lot of good prices - many reasonable prices on modern equipment, as well as a number of low-priced clearance models for those who can settle for older gear but not lesser quality. This store is filled with quality kit - Paradigm, B&W among the brands that you can buy. These are some top-notch friendly sales staff who are willing to go the extra mile. They were also willing to stay late after close to get me the cables I wanted and didn't complain or attempt to rush me out of the door! They helped carry the speaker out to the car. We were also able to get local restaurant recommendations as well, which is a nice plus. Also, when I forgot my receipt on their desk, one of the guys even ran out to catch us before we left the parking lot! You don't get much better than this as far as service goes. If you're looking for a little bit of an upgrade from a cheap home-theatre-in-a-box setup or want to get a step up from that aging stereo system at Best Buy, then this is one of the places to go in Oregon. Outstanding knowledge of home theatre systems and installation. One of three specialty stores out of about 20 I have visited in my life where I thought the people really know their stuff. I only bought my speakers from another store because my wife thought the better sounding per dollar speakers here did not look good (totally disagree). Their networking person I am 100% confident would do great work, but irritated me a bit. I recently had a house built and talked to four people who do home networking. He was one of two people who would do things correctly off the bat (I agreed with my contractor to use his electrician, but made him do things far differently than usual). But as I said he did irritate me. Quick background, you can wire a quality Cat 6 network in two ways, A & B. I have done simple network cabling, and wrote specifications for cabling including a $120,000 contract. I specified A in the big contract. I did not appreciate a lecture why "there is absolutely no reason to use 568-A." I will only say I cannot think of a reason to use A in a home setting. We had good business reasons in the big contract (In all fairness, the backward compatibility issues were with equipment that was probably before his time). read more

I called Hear No Evil hoping they could help me install my surround system. I had already hooked up the speakers and base, but since I have arthritis, I couldn't get down and hook up the other components. I figured it was a 50-50 shot,because they wouldn't be selling me any components, just putting together what I had. Today a very knowledgeable young man came out and hooked everything up, zip tied all the cords so they weren't a giant snarl, like I had, made sure everything worked, and then he made sure I knew how to use everything and that it was all coordinated with the wi-fi. He then set us up in the projection room with a movie to watch while they installed the stereo, which took about an hour.
