A block off Dunbar and situated on a rather busy corner of 41st, walk in the wide-open, inviting doors and experience a warm and delightful moment in la belle France! Scrumptious aromas of authentic French pastries, both sweet and savoury, with blissful overtones of espresso, wash over you as soon as you approach the counter. I'm talking cheese, I'm talking almonds, I'm talking buttery, flaky, croissant-y smells of heaven. Choose from these, or from their selection of hand-made crêpes (also available in both savoury and sweet varieties). A couple of year ago, I was prohibited from eating eggs in any form, and mentioned this once to the lovely French gentleman serving me (his equally gracious wife is also frequently behind the counter). He said that he would make me a savoury buckwheat egg-free crêpe the next time I came in, and ... Lo and behold, on my next visit he announced that he had changed the recipe for all of the savoury crêpes to be egg-free! Talk about service "above and beyond"! Once you place your order and pay (avertissement: not cheap - but remember that you get what you pay for!), grab a seat outside or at the window to people-watch, sit at a charming table, or cozy up in the back corner in one of the comfy chairs by the fireplace. This back corner is the best spot to listen to the French-language music BTW. Happy me ... Now it's time to get back to my Americano, and give my croissant the full attention that it so richly deserves. October Challenge 9/31

I try not to go too often as much as I am a fan. I tend to spend $10 and under on lunch if I eat out, but here I spend close to $20. In some ways it is worth it though....the food is absolutely delicious. I'm not much of a crepe person. Instead I always order the same thing when I come: the soup and sandwich combo.I choose the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and tomato basil soup. - Both are amazing. I don't even like tomato soup, but their soup is so good! As for the sandwich, it's perfect. Enough said. As a dessert I get the lemon tart. That is my absolute favourite part about this place. I love the crust on it and the lemon filling sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. The downside to the lemon tart is that it's around $7 with tax if I remember correctly. There it is yelpers, my Crepe & Cafe meal that keeps me satisfied and wanting more. The staff are also very friendly and accomodating.

I wasn't very happy with my crepe from crepe and cafe. I got the buckwheat crepe filled with egg, feta, spinach, and tomatoes. What I didn't know was the spinach was cooked ahead of time with onions and what tasted like cumin. The tomatoes were cut into chunks and did not provide a consistent texture of flavor to the crepe. The overall quality of the food was not outstanding and the inside of the cafe was awkward and didn't seem like it had been cleaned recently.

    Americanos!

Cute little crepe and coffee house in South Dunbar area. They have buckwheat savory crepes and whole wheat sweet crepes. Run by a lovely French couple. This location was previously occupied by other coffee houses which were mediocre and failed miserably. I hope this place stays for the long haul as I think it is a good addition to the neighbourhood. Good pain de chocolate too!

When getting the matcha ice cream, I suggest getting straight matcha instead of the twist with vanilla because the vanilla washes out the matcha; it comes through better on its own. The sundaes are fun and a good, more affordable alternative to the similar parfaits at high end matcha cafes. I tried the tuna egg salad crepe and thought it was actually really good! The crepe was fresh and tender, there was a healthy amount of filling, and the tuna salad was actually mostly tuna with just enough mayo to hold it together which is how I prefer it. Again, the service is just through a window - you actually order at an electronic kiosk and the only interaction with a person is when your order is ready. There are two small tables outside if you want to eat there. During the busy summer season, it's very difficult to actually secure one of these tables, but there's other seating on the pedestrian streets just a few blocks away on Robson.

Liked how the parfait has different toppings throughout and the cereal added great texture. It was nice to watch them make the crepes and prepare all the food. They have a few appetizers, savoury and sweet crepes, and quite a large cider selection. We both tried different ciders. I liked the scenic road razz. It was light and fruity. Tartare de boeuf- wagyu tartare, served with a beet puree and buckwheat crackers. It was tasty. I really liked the crunch on the buckwheat crackers. The tartare was seasoned well. Jambon blanc- savoury crepe with Parisian ham, cider onion jam, gruyere, and egg. Simple, but quality ingredients. It may look small, but it was quite filling. I enjoyed the buckwheat crepes as it added more flavour to the crepes. I do wish there was a bit more onions in this one. Overall, was very savoury and delicious. Saucisse- beef and pork sausage, bacon, red pepper relish, gruyere, and mustard aioli. This one was really filling. The sausage was quite large, flavourful, and not dry at all. The red pepper relish added some sweetness and brightness to the dish. The crepe went well with the mustard. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. It was nice to go to somewhere for brunch that was more unique than just the usual items for brunch. Service was great, especially since it was so busy. They were still attentive and quick. Prices are pretty good, considering portion and quality of ingredients. I'd recommend checking this place out. I know I'll be back to try their sweet crepes.
