This was definitely one of our top experiences in Vancouver. They had the most perfect French pastries with a cute bistro vibe. We arrived right before they started serving full brunch, so we had some pastries and coffee while we waited. It's the kind of place where it feels like everything on the menu is probably great. They also have a little pantry section with fancy mustards and vinegars and things like that. My friend introduced me to this cozy French cafe which was very up my alley, the gold lamps, white pillows and decor all went very well together! We shared a tub of pistachio tiramisu ($10) and a turkey/brie sandwich ($14, note that their hot food bistro closes after 3 so sandwiches were the only food option), the service was good and they brought us extra plates for sharing. There was a good amount of brie in the sandwich which I enjoyed!! The tiramisu still retained some traditional elements from the usual with coffee powder which I didn't expect. The pistachio was also bit bitter but I liked how it wasn't sweet. It's definitely a decent portion to bring home as a treat. We were also able to ask for some sweetness in our iced matchas and it wasn't overly sweet. Overall, a cute cafe with some of my favourite decor in a while! When I first drove by, I couldn't help but pull over and enjoy a nice meal at this restaurant. The outside is beautiful pictures with the wreaths and greenery for the holiday season. The inside is a very romantic, dim, lighting, quiet, peaceful environment with a simple menu. I opted for the turkey and Brie sandwich along with the tomato bisque. Great food and nice atmosphere! I visited on a Friday around 1 and all of the tables were taken except one outside which I grabbed. The inside of the cafe is beautiful! Sitting inside would definitely provide a more immersive and comfortable experience, but the patio area was okay since the weather was nice. If you want to sit inside, you can join a waitlist by scanning a QR code. I do appreciate the waitlist system because I can imagine it would be chaos if it was a free for all. In either seating area, the tables are pretty tightly packed. I got a coronation chickpea sandwich, a slice of carrot cake, and a raspberry matcha tonic. The sandwich consisted of a delicious chickpea salad with fresh cucumbers and greens on a nice toasted sourdough. The carrot cake was very good too; it was probably 2/3 cake and 1/3 cream cheese frosting, but the frosting actually didn't overpower the cake. The raspberry matcha tonic was also very nice and it seemed like they used a good matcha to make, but if I could do it over I'd order the regular matcha tonic because the raspberry and tonic water together sort of stole the show from the matcha, and I wonder if the plain matcha tonic would let the flavour of the matcha come out more. Service was mostly very friendly. I think I had to wait somewhere around 5-10 minutes for my sandwich with the drink coming out a few minutes earlier, so not bad since they were so busy. Came in to try Sunday brunch at Marché Mon Pitou. I had heard that it was very good. MMP is kinda an off the grid joint, but is close to Granville Island & downtown Vancouver. Many will remember this location as the former spot of Slickity Jim's. A tiny bakery cafe operating on a first come first served basis, get here early or don't bother. Put your name down on the list & pray. You can try to make a reservation on-line but will notice due to limited availability, you won't have any luck. Table time is currently limited to 1hr & 15mins. There's only about 3 tables inside. Limited patio space available but won't be fun out there this time of year. I had the delightful - Hunter Chicken Roulade. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the mash so creamy perfect & the gravy was excellent. A great dish I'd easily have again. My Matcha Latte was very good - I really enjoyed it. Others in my group had the Cinnamon Apple Waffles & Baked Eggs Provençal with sausage. I sampled both & loved the CAW. Very sweet mind you but very tasty indeed. Food: Excitement fueled my visit to this location after a considerable brunch hiatus. The photos of the breakfast menu, particularly the Croque Madame, captured my attention. While my typical choice when trying a new restaurant is the classic Benedict, we came to a French restaurant to try its specialties. The ham sandwich, was generously doused with béchamel and melted Gruyère, topped with a sunny-side-up egg, perched on two thick slices of toast. The top slice, softened by the sauce, contrasted with the crispiness of the bottom one, creating a well-balanced texture. The heaviness of the dish was balanced by a lightly dressed green salad. 5 stars!!! My sister opted for the daily quiche with salad--a light, fluffy creation filled with smoked salmon and veggies. As for my choice of beverage, the peppermint latte was pleasant but unremarkable. In contrast, the mocha stole the spotlight, reminiscent of the richness found in French chocolate--neither overly sweet nor overly thick. A delightful treat indeed! Ambiance/Service: Regrettably, the overall experience lost a star due to the ambiance and service. The quaint cafe, though charming, was louder than I expected due to the tight space, espresso machine and the constant flow of people. We felt like we had to speak in raised voices just to hear ourselves. We were also seated near the door and my back was against the line so patrons and staff brushed by often, making the dining experience less than comfortable. There was all an unnecessarily large vase on a four-person table aimed to divide the table to seat two groups of two. It made it feel like we were conversing through thin leaves. Another negative note was due to the organization of the petite cafe. As first-time patrons, we were unaware that tables were for dining in only, and that we had to put our names on the waitlist through a QR code. We waited in line until we got to the cashier to only be redirected to stand aside and wait after registering on the waitlist. There was a lack of guidance and follow-up thereafter as we were left waiting next to the cashier while the tables were reset then only to sit empty waiting for us to ask to be sat. This confusion extended to other customers who were looking to dine in as well as those waiting for takeout. Mon Pitou is French cafe situated on a small street just off West Broadway, that is somehow always busy (even at 10am on a Tuesday) so make reservations! The waits are quite long on the weekends, so I would advise to go as early as possible. Their menu changes quite frequently but they will always have their classics like their rotating quiche and croque madame. My favourite seasonal dish this year was the duck cassoulet, as it was very tender and delicious. My friend heard the quiche here was amazing and Mon Pitou did not disappoint. It is a very cute French cafe that also has a small grocery section. They used to be on DoorDash, but now they are not - I hope they decide to come back as it would be great to get their food delivered when I don't feel like going out! For a Friday lunch, they were surprisingly busy. They have very few tables inside, and a couple tables outside and on the patio. Luckily, we were seated pretty quickly. Service was friendly, but a bit on the slow side. They had a ton of staff as well, I think they all help with all tables (instead of by sections). We were able to order the last quiche they had (once we sat down we immediately told them we were going to order it). I think it was the best quiche I've ever had in my life. It was super light and fluffy, probably full of butter and cream, and had lots of cheese and ham as well, in a flaky pastry crust. I would order this again any day. We also ordered the croque madame, which was also delicious. The bechamel sauce paired well with the bread, ham and cheese. Both dishes came with a small side salad. We also ordered a scone, but we were so full by the end of the meal we couldn't fully enjoy it. It was crumbly but a bit on the dry side. I did see a large cookie in their baked goods section that I will have to try soon. The prices of their baked goods were reasonable. A lovely little French cafe that really feels like you've stepped out of Vancouver and onto a small city street in France. I love the dark green of the walls and the few imported grocery items placed on shelves around the place. The food was quite nice, though simple. The eggs Benedict was well made, with a savory hollandaise sauce. The petit pitou was classic--I liked the richness of the herb roasted tomato but I thought the sourdough bread was over toasted and way too crunchy. The lemon cake wasn't dry and I liked the lemon flavor in the actual cake part, not the icing. The lemonade was also very good, but overpriced at $7 a bottle. Service was good as well; they reserve all the indoor spots for full table service and bistro menu items from 9-2 on weekdays and 9-3 on weekends. I probably had the best croque madam at this little and cozy bistro. The sandwich was slightly crispy on the outside and the bechamel under the sunny side-up fried egg was perfectly seasoned. The accompanying green salad was also dressed wonderfully just lightly. We picked 1015 on a Friday for our mid morning breakfast / brunch hoping it wouldn't be too busy. While the small dining room was already full when we walked it, there were still plenty of tables outside when we arrived but all the outside tables were taken very quickly. Sigh, it seems to be a super popular place for dog owners. Outdoor seating can be perilous unless you don't mind dogs peeing or sniffing your food inches away. Decent cup of Americano. On a sunny saturday, we decided to head out to brunch at Mon Pitou. Word is, having coffee here is like sitting at the corner cafe in france, and watching the world go by. Lol. Anyhow, got there and its a tiny sort of hole in the wall Place. Nice decorated though. Had to line up for a bit. Place had like 6 tables give or take. Line moves along quick if you just wanna do take out, but it can be a wait for dine-in. We got there 20 mins after they opened so we were able to get a seat for 2. Ordered the turkey and brie sandwich with cranberry malt bread and the smoke salmon bagel. For drinks, hot chocolate and americano! First sip of the drinks, we were already very impressed. Nothing like a good strong americano to perk you up. The hot chocolate had real chocolate bits inside the drink. So decadent and rich and creamy. The sandwich was absolutely amazing. Turkey was fresh and the brie cheese was so creamy. The arugula in the middle provided the perfect balance of texture and taste. Then the cranberries on the bread, gave it just a touch of sweetness. It was served with a few flakes of salt sprinkled on the bread. Truly artisan. The smoked salmon was equally good. Lathered with a generous layer of cream cheese and smoked salmon and tomato and onions and capers, and served between an everything bagel. Everything tasted so fresh and rich. Nothing was stale. They make the sandwiches on the spot and the turnover is quick. The pastries we tried were the pavlova and the financier and of course the classic croissant. The pavolva tasted so light and lemony. The merengue was of superior quality. Light and fluffy with the perfect touch of sweetness. The financier was likewise a delight. You can smell the almond right off the bat. So tender and moist in the centre and aromatic to tease the senses. The classic croissant was another perfect creation. It was huge in size, flaky, and the layering in the middle was exactly like how it its in france. Im 100% sure that the butter used here was imported. It was like having it right on the streets of paris. What a gem of a place. They also sell many other pastries and breads, and some pantry staples like imported oils, flour, pasta, jam, marmalades, fruits etc. I will be back for sure for some more pastries. Cheers! I heard about this new café/grocer that opened up recently on West 7th and decided to go check it out. The store itself is not too big, but enough to fit a large table with fresh fruits and vegetables and 3 tables for dine-in. On a busy day, I'd imagine it would feel quite cramped and it may get uncomfortable eating at the tables as it would be in close proximity with the line to order. I went on a Wednesday afternoon so the store itself was not too busy, with a constant stream of people coming in for take-out coffee. I came mostly to try their coffee and baked goods and ended up ordering a latte and a lemon yogurt cake. Be warned: There are no prices listed (yet) on the baked goods (but I deducted the amount based on my total). Latte ($4.75): pretty standard. Was decently priced for its size. I think that the amount you get in the cup when you are eating there is larger than their takeout cups. Lemon yogurt cake (~$4.75): very sweet and a strong lemon taste. The cake tastes very dense/moist but broke apart/crumbled quite easily when going in for a bite. I quite enjoyed this one when paired with the latte and it was a nice dessert treat. On its own, I think it'd be just a tad too sweet. I thought the foods that I tried was decently priced for the location and ambiance -- they had a VERY relaxing seating arrangement inside with pillows. I also really love their logos and decor; I can tell that the owners put a lot of effort and time into designing the space and deciding the products that they were going to sell. This a somewhat noisy, bustling, tiny cafe that has a few cramped seats inside serving possibly the best iteration of a Croque Madame I've ever had. They also have a few outdoor seats. Normally I'm more of less bread, more filling type of gal, but golly, this bread is so good and is that perfect balance between being crispy-crunchy, yet a little yielding so the insides of your mouth isn't shredded from eating it, as it has soaked up just enough of the fats & sauce to be tasty without being greasy. Marché Mon Pitou is a French café, bistro and market situated in walking distance from Granville Island. They serve coffee, pastries, French-imported products and delicious brunch items! They have an absolutely stunning interior, gleaming with a dark royal green and sand beige yellows, giving you a visual of Paris or Provence. Must try items: The Eggs Royale is a play on eggs and toast, consisting of soft and luscious scrambled eggs on top of a toasted baguette. Smoked salmon and capers are served along with a salad. Croque Madame: The French style of a grilled cheese with a generous blanket of béchamel sauce. It looks heavy but surprisingly it wasn't overly salty even with layers of ham and cheese. It comes with a poach egg hidden beneath the béchamel sauce which is the differentiating factor between its counterpart, the Croque Monsieur The only thing I noticed that kept me from giving it a full 5 star was the coffee. The espresso in my flat white and ice latte was rather weak or not aromatic. It was hard to taste it as the milk overpowered it. Although it isn't a huge issue, I definitely see room for improvement. I can't wait to come back to try the lemon tart and pain au chocolat! In light of the new COVID-19 restrictions, the bistro has 3 tables with patio covering and 2 smaller tables on the patch of grass closer to the road. I've been meaning to come here since I saw all the images on Instagram. It reminded me of my time in Paris, very charming with a restaurant and market section. We went around 11am midweek to avoid the lunch rush. It was a beautiful day outside and managed to snag a patio seat. The weekday lunch menu is similar to the weekend, but has a few less items. We tried the Croque Madame and the Eggs Royale. Croque Madame: Great flavours, perfectly cooked runny egg on top, nice and salty ham to complement the cheese. The arugula salad on the side was bright and fresh. ($20) Eggs Royale: soft scrambled eggs with cured salmon was a great combo. 3 fingers of brioche accompanied the dish. I almost missed the creme fraiche as it was underneath the brioche. All really great flavours. ($19) Homemade Lavender Lemonade: really refreshing and light. Iced latte: Exactly as you'd imagine. Both drinks were good, but very heavy on the ice and served in a small glass. For $5, I wished the portion was larger. I'm knocking one star off because the patio seats are incredibly uncomfortable. They're made of wooden slats and I just couldn't find a nice position to be in to settle in. For a $50+ lunch, you would hope for a comfortable seat. read more

What a great addition to the area! Honestly, Vancouver needs more places like Mon Pitou. There was a pretty large line upon arrival (as expected) but we didn't mind waiting as it was a lovely day out. Once inside we ordered 2 americanos, the Lox bagel and French onion soup. All super tasty! Service was very friendly and efficient, no complaints here. *I also saw they had vegan croissants Of course the decor, and ambiance are every instagrammer's dream, very authentic with a welcoming feel. Lots of baked goods and sandwiches which I will definitely have to come back to try. They also had live music out front starting at 12pm, just made the whole experience that much better! Full disclosure-this is my favorite coffee shop! From the moment you see Mon Pitou you know it is going to be absolutely adorable! With simple outdoor seating and thematic blue coloring, this bistro & bakery knows how to set the stage. French music plays in the background as you step onto the classic subway tile floors and see flowers, fresh fruits & jams, and all the baked goods you could imagine. A true gem. I ordered a hot chocolate and two pastries (a slice of the lemon tart and an apple galette) all of which were *chef's kiss* perfection. THE BEST BRUNCH IN VAN. The croque madam here is the best one in Vancouver. It's done so well!! The bennies here are also so delicious, although sadly one egg yolk wasn't runny. Service here is always amazing! They don't take reservations but the wait ended up only being 20 minutes. Love this place so much! read more
