Price of stuff here are a bit on pricier side. I think it has the same vibe as whole foods. They do carry some uncommon stuff, so check them out when you're in the area. read more

Popped in because I saw that Peaks Doughnuts had opened a little cafe inside and the doughnuts looked good. I gave up going to my favorite croissant spot- mistake. There were Peaks doughnuts in the actual grocery shop too but way more options in the cafe. Line sort of confusing, each doughnut is under $3.89(cad) which when I went made it about $2.74 (usd) which is a steal in itself. A lot of the doughnuts looked good and fun- I opted for the strawberry pistachio yeast, banana peanut butter chocolate fritter and nanaimo chocolate cake. First bites of each left me underwhelmed. They were all pretty basic, the fritter had a strong peanut butter and the chocolate had a strong...chocolate. I ended up finishing the strawberry a few hours later when it had gotten soft/squishy and the strawberry flavor was more obvious. I prefer the west Vancouver location, and I do feel they have different items carried. Overall, I shop for the bakery and meats at the location. As the location is near an education centre and smaller offices. It carries allot of ready to eat/ go items, sandwiches etc... A well kept secret under the Granville bridge? Photo journey brought me to the cafe adjoining the market place. After a decaf coffee and a semi-decent chocolate croissant, decided to explore the grocery store. Everything imaginable is stacked and stocked in the weirdly planned residual "architectural" space. not gonna lie, i was here solely for the viral cookies on tiktok, hailing these as the 'best cookies in the world', a bold statement. respectfully, i disagree. both the ultimate chocolate chip walnut (not a fan of the addition of walnuts) and salted caramel cookies (butterscotch almond) were good. generous in size, they were served warm, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, the smell, texture and taste were on point, and left a greasy, buttery residue. the dark chocolate and caramel were gooey, and broke off easily, making it perfect for sharing. i've had cookies from their there (miso white chocolate macadamia) and the poke guy (matcha white chocolate chip), and those cookies were just as good, if not better. these are definitely worth a try and they are very good, addictive even, especially given that they are from a grocery store. it's perhaps, 'the best grocery store cookie in vancouver'. read more

There's more produce here than the IGA near Robson, so that's good. However they pack some of the items in so closely into small spaces that half the lettuce leaves or whatever it is rips as you try to untuck it free. Half their rolling baskets don't seem to roll well either. Overall an okay market - good for a stop for a hot salted caramel cookie and for some basics. read more

The Vancouver House Fresh St. Market (which is the only Fresh St Market I've ever seen) comprises a grocery store and a coffee shop. The coffee shop was my main destination here, but the unique look of the grocery store drew me and I ended up doing some light shopping. Starting with the coffee shop: it's small, but the layout and seating is all very appealing (window seating abounds, and there's a covered patio too). The baristas were so nice and the vibe of the whole crowd was very friendly. I got a Tuna Melt and a Turmeric Chai Latte. The tuna melt was everything a tuna melt should be: nice and toasty, loads of savoury tuna salad with melty, gooey cheddar, and fresh bread (marble rye, my favourite)! The turmeric chai was actually not my favourite. I am someone who loves spicy things, but they definitely used too much spice mix in this. I was drinking it and thought it was oddly bitter even considering it was unsweetened (the lack of sweetener was not the problem - I always take things unsweetened when possible), and then I tried stirring it and realized there was a paste at the bottom of even more spice. It wasn't at the point where I didn't want to drink it, but definitely overkill on the spice. As for the grocery store: surprisingly, even though this looks like a high-end organic grocery store, the prices are more comparable to mid-level stores like Save-On, IGA, and company. The produce all looked good (I bought just a few things I needed to top up on) and they have a good selection of specialty pantry items (I somehow avoided making any impulse purchases in this department). During my visit, there was a stand set up offering free samples of alcohol-free cocktails. I've unfortunately forgotten the brand, but it was quite good! The selection for produce and basic pantry things is a little small compared to the large chain grocery stores mentioned above. The prepared foods section/bakery, on the other hand, is amazing and will definitely have me coming back. Before ordering at the coffee shop, I peeked in here and grabbed a slice of Tiramisu Cheesecake from the bakery counter to go with my meal (there are some pastries for sale in the coffee shop, but the selection isn't anywhere near as extensive). The person who helped me said it was their favourite and I am now also a fan. I was very tempted by the giant cookies and all the scones and muffins but will have to get those on another occasion. Hot curries looked good, and I didn't get a look at the soup but I could SMELL it and it certainly smelled good. What I did end up buying for later was the vegan cabbage rolls from the ready-to-eat fridge which were great. Even if it were in a more convenient location for me, I wouldn't do my regular grocery shopping here because of the somewhat limited selection of basic groceries, but it would be a fun place to stop once in a while for something special. Is it possible to fall in love with a grocery store? If so, I did. With this place. It is INCREDIBLE! Perhaps it's not as large as other Fresh St. Markets, as a reviewer from Surrey noted, but this is the first and only Fresh St Market (FSM) I've been to, so I've no other point of reference to compare to. I found this store big enough to stock all the basics - and THEN some. There were lots of items and specialty brands of foods I've not seen in other stores, and they had a great variety of the items I usually shop for. Where to begin? The bakery department is bloody amazing. The ready-made foods and meals section is also phenomenal. Their cheese selections are fabulous, too; they even have a special freestanding humidor-like fridge devoted to specialty cheeses. Decent produce and canned/boxed foods section. And their meat and fish departments were beautiful. Oh, did I mention the prices? I expected sky-high prices when I visited here, at least on a par with Whole Foods' (which I find to be obscenely high). After all, this store is gorgeous and new and all their foods are so fresh and beautiful. I was shocked to discover that prices here were on a par or LESS than IGA and Urban Fare. For many items, the prices here were FAR LESS. I couldn't believe it. This store also has a separate coffee shop (so cute! Check out my photo with the sawed-in-half bikes mounted on high on the wall!), as well as a separate dining area/restaurant with a counter to order your food at (I'm unsure if this dining area operates like a cafeteria). It looked really nice, with window walls overlooking Granville St (under the bridge, and across from the new funky Vancouver House). If you crane your neck a bit, you might even see the spinning chandelier art installation a few yards away! There's limited free parking along Howe Street, but I've been told spots there are hard to find, and the underground parking is super expensive. I'm attaching a lot of photos of this place, as it really is a beautiful grocery store, but they don't capture how lovely this store truly is. You need to see it for yourself! What an amazing grocery store! It feels like you're going into a marketplace, not a typical grocery store with all the sections clearly signed - produce, fish... It's super well lit and everything looks tasty! It's my first time coming here and I was wondering up and down every aisle looking at tons of their local items, it's fantastic! Stopped in the cafe for a drink on a Wednesdaymorning. Cashier 105 (according to my receipt)was SO RUDE. The service was so slow that 2 people in front of me in line walked out, but I wasn't in a hurry, so nbd. Then she was just unnecessarily rude and awful. The cafe features a few of the baked goods from the attached Fresh St Market cafe, most notably the mile high cinnamon roll topped with cream cheese icing. They also have a selection of sandwiches and rolls which can be heated in the toaster oven. What impressed me were the prices. $4.95 for a pulled pork brioche bun and about $6.50 for most of their sandwiches. The baked goods are pretty standard prices for the most part. They also have reasonably priced coffees $3.50 for 12 ounce and $4 for 16 ounce. I did have to wait about 20 mins for my coffee order, but it was opening weekend so hopefully they'll pick up the pace when they are more settled in. The seating is pretty limited but it's really more of a grab and go spot. Nicely designed, this will become a popular spot in no time for a quick and easy lunch that won't break the bank! read more

After I heard the newly opened Fresh St. Market in Vancouver, I am so looking forward to visiting it. Fresh St. Market doesn't let me down. The store has full of fresh, and presentable food and products. Their prices were surprisingly fair and even lower than some other competing supermarkets. The store is modern and produce is nicely displayed. When you walking down to different sections of the store, you will feel like you are in the gallery. The bakery has incredible selections of cakes, pastries and baked goods. The prepared bento boxes and salad also have reasonable prices, but we did not have the chance to try them yet. Will definitely check them out next time. The market has a sperate coffee shop and also serve their baked goods and amazing looking sandwiches. I have decided to try their Montreal smoked meat pretzel sandwich, and it is SO GOOD! I was worried that the bun will be hard since it's a pretzel bun, or the whole thing might taste too salty since it's pretzel bun plus the smoked meat. However, I am so glad I was wrong. The bun itself was surprisingly so soft after they warm up the sandwich. With the melting cheese and well-balanced meat, how can you say no to it?! I can't wait to come back and try more their gourmet stuff. :D read more

Literally shop here every day, live a few blocks away. Came in yesterday as a family, carrying baby. Got followed around the entire store by security through the freezer section and back out through the front. We left because we were so uncomfortable with being closely followed, especially with how many down and out people are here in the city right now I feel like the last person you should be following is a family of three who you see every single day. Very frustrating. Not sure if I was followed because I am black or if the security is just shit. There used to be issues with the cashiers and how nobody knows how to bag any groceries, it seem to be getting a little bit better. But now with this on top of it I won't be going here anymore. And I'll be making sure to spread the word not to go there to all my friends and neighbors. Tip : they usually have sale frozen items in the middle of the store by the butcher , these items are always on sale but when you get to the till for some reason they're never registered in the system and you could be waiting at the till for up to 10 minutes for a manager to double check the sale price LOL it's happened to me at least seven occasions. I recommend taking a photo of the sale sign with your phone before you get to the cashier just in case there's an issue so you can show it to them so you're not waiting forever. read more

If you've been to the larger and more well stocked locations in Surrey, then this location will be a little disappointing. While it is closer to where I live, this is like a mini version of the original. I was particularly excited to hear that they were offering a bistro in this location. While the prices were good, the delivery wasn't. The smashed burger was thinner than I would like as it was closer to a thin latke than a meaty burger, and the ceviche wasn't up to par. Needless to say, I will be returning to the other locations in Surrey in the future and won't be missing their new bistro concept. Some free street parking is available, but I'm sure you would have to bite the bullet and pay for the limited underground parking or walk further when it gets busy. For now, you're jostling with a lot of construction workers at the cafe for coffee and pastries. I didn't care for any of the pastries in the cafe, but found a nice fruit danish in the store bakery instead. Also, my donut craving wasn't satisfied with their cinnamon cake donut. My flat white expresso was ok. I feel they're trying to imitate the Whole Foods concept in layout/decor, but I prefer the open suburban environments which I'm used to. read more

Located in the retail space of the new Vancouver House, Fresh St. Market is a welcome addition to the Yaletown neighbourhood. It is a very well laid out store with good selection of baked goods, meats and other grocery items. The store also has a licensed restaurant. The prices are also very good for the area. Gorgeous new supermarket much needed in that location, almost under the Granville Street bridge on the city side. Everything is displayed with care and produce is super fresh. Some prices are higher than other stores but most are about the same and some are lower. Today I am here to comment on the Blue Sky BBQ Burger I ordered from the Fork Lift Kitchen and Bar in this location. Absolutely spectacular burger, made fresh when ordered, and delicious beyond expectations. A truly superior fresh burger for $8.99 with hickory maple bacon, onion ring, tomato, crisp leaf lettuce and smoky BBQ sauce on a brioche type of bun. Other offerings include tacos, noodle bowls, fried chicken, and craft beers, ciders and wine, with nothing more than $10.00. Heck, yes, I will be back! read more

They had the wrong price in the computer again when we paid so we informed the cashier. Then the cashier got a female employee to help him. The female employee told us that she could give us the item for free. Then she asked me if I saw the date on the price tag and I told her no. She said she needed the manager to come to process the free item for us. They made us wait for a long long time. It was physically stressful to wait there because the checkout area was narrow with a lot of people passing by with kids and shopping carts. She came back with the manager finally. The manager asked us what was wrong which gave us more stress because the cashier could have informed the manager of the issue first. They made us tell him all over again. The whole transaction took triple the time than usual due to the mismatch between their computer system and the price tag. It was frustrating. If we knew we needed to wait that long then we would not have gotten the item. The staff caused us stress and wasted both of our time due to their fault - they either need to update their computer system to make sure everything is correct or have the staff to make sure the price tag on the shelf is correct. read more

I've been going to different groceries, trying to find one that's doing a good job of social distancing. This store is the best I've found. The customers are mostly following the arrows on the floors. If store staff would say something to people who don't follow the rules then I'd give the store 5 stars. The store itself is good. Staff are very pleasant and the food is very good quality. It's a bit more expensive than No Frills but about the same as Safeway, IGA, and Urban Fare. I'll be shopping here in future. read more

I shop here only because it is close by. My complaint about this store is: the flowers look fresh but after a day or 2 they are dead. Then there are the lazy people at the deli section, I bought several types of deli meat, the girl asked how I wanted it sliced, I said thin please. She turned around, didn't bother to adjust the dial on the slicer, sliced me another piece the same. she did that for the other deli meats I asked for. I've worked on one of those slicer before, so I know, and I could see what she did. The staff at the deli department are not friendly at all, and all are lazy. I feel like i am bothering them when I want to buy something from there. Then there are the cashiers, some of these kids don't know their vegetables at all, several times I had to correct them because they charge me for something else. Another thing, it is hard to find certain products in the store, their selection of goods are not good, they have a bit of everything but not enough of one thing. For example, I wanted to buy sweet soy sauce or light soy sauce, they only carry regular soy sauce. So their selections of goods are limited. You're better off going to Urban Fare or Farm to table market. read more

I only went there for coffee and muffin. Muffin is tasty and the price is good, but the coffee is awful. Tasted burnt and the worst part is the coffee ground that came with it. I paid $2.5 for a cup of coffee that tasted worst than what I can get at a gas station for a buck. read more
