I have in the past, not long after this store first opened given two very good reviews for selection, quality, and service. But last Saturday I had an experience which changed my mind. While shopping, my foot became lodged behind a one foot high stainless barrier that protects the base of most coolers in the store. I was turning from the cooler's shelves with a container in hand but my foot couldn't move. I fell very hard to the concrete floor in a tight space between the grocery cart and side of some shelving. Two very sore knees and a very sore hip. I am an elderly man, so any fall is a concern.
Two very nice women shoppers came to my aid and after they were unable to move me, a kind man helped lift me to my feet. I was experiencing pain in my knees and hip and noticed that my eyeglasses were bent and askew. Eventually, a very nice woman employee had me sit in the coffee area so she could record the details of the event.
The manager was in the store, was aware of my circumstances but chose not to check on me to see if I was OK. I went home but couldn't sleep because of the pain in my knee. I went to the local hospital early Sunday morning and after an extensive set of x-rays, the ER doctor advised that no bones were broken, but obviously I have considerable soft tissue damage that will heal over time. I also have a black eye presumably caused by my glasses getting pushed where they weren't intended.
I was promised a follow up call from the store manager this (Monday) morning, but at just before noon I have heard nothing. This manager obviously doesn't care about the safety of the store's customers. If we were president of this growing food store chain, I would replace the manager and properly repair the corner guards so no other customers repeat my experience. read more
