Lucky Supermarket is a pretty solid spot if you're looking for Asian groceries in Surrey. They've got a good variety of sauces, noodles, snacks, and produce -- definitely convenient for quick shopping runs when I'm craving something specific from back home. The aisles are organized decently, prices are fair, and it's usually not too crowded. I like that they carry brands you don't see at regular grocery stores, like certain hot pot bases and instant noodle flavors. Only downside -- kinda sad there's not much hotpot meat selection I wish they had more thinly sliced beef and lamb options. But overall, still a good go-to for Asian ingredients without having to drive too far out. read more

A real great place to pick up a decent banh mi for a reasonable price and quality. Good options to choose from, but their original Lucky sub remains the standard. Always ask for extra hot peppers for extra zip. Service is ok and friendly, but be warned that this place is very busy and popular during lunch time so either come off peak or be prepared to wait a little. read more

Inside Luckys Supermarket there is a banh mi shop. We made a large group order for lunch at work. Buy 10 get one for free. We ordered ahead of time, but still had to wait for our sandwiches. They can get extremely busy! Some of the colleagues ordered jalapeños with their banh mi, however it was missed. The sandwiches are on fresh tasting French bread. The length of the bread is longer than most places so the banh mi is a bigger portion. The bread is crisp, but not to the point where you are cutting the roof of your mouth. I love this supermarket, especially their fresh Viet sandwhich section ($8 each with various protein choices). Fresh cilantro, salted radish and carrot, Viet pate, egg mayo, some slices of cucumber, jalapeno and a handful of roasted skin on pork are stuffed in a freshly made sandwich is way too perfect for any meal of the day! We stopped by for lunch in the food court as we were in the area. The burger and banh mi did not disappoint! The portion size was generous for the price. The burger had a lot of meat filling and was only $5 on its own. We paid $2 extra for the fries and a can of Coke. The bani mi had all the toppings I liked such as the pate, pickled daikon/carrot mix and cold cuts. The mango smoothie was creamy and blended well. The pho was not bad. Unfortunately, there was no tendon in pho, but there was beef slices, beef balls and tripe. I would have liked more beef toppings for the price. The pro broth was decent and on the lighter side. There was a decent amount of noodles. Overall, we were happy with our meal. Service was efficient for a food court. There was also many Vietnamese desserts I did not recognize. It would be interesting to try some of them on a future visit. There are only three tables available for seating at this time. I was recommended to come to Lucky Supermarket to try out the "best banh mi ever" quoted by one of my close friends. To my buddy's credit this place did not disappoint. In addition to the banh mi stations Lucky Supermarket also had over 10 different noodle (pho and vermecelli) soup options. I think I will be back to try that for sure as I saw lots of Vietnamese people come just for breakfast. Sorry I got side tracked just thinking of all the other food options, back focusing on the banh mi I ordered: Lucky Special (Assorted Meat) - $4.99 each. I have to rate this one 5/5 had the perfect amount of pate, butter and a good amount of meat. Also the bread was very unique and tasted different from other places. I think it's because they make their own bread in house. I think in my picture they looked over toasted that is my own fault. Regardless still very tasty! Lucky BBQ Pork/Roasted Pork $5.99 each. These were okay probably 4/5 for the BBQ pork and 3/5 for the roasted pork. On the BBQ pork i don't consider it a proper banh mi unless they add pate so minus one point, but it was still very juicy because of the meat. The roasted pork on the other hand it missing the pate and the meat was also more on the dry side. I do recommend the BBQ pork if you want to go for a specialty Overall good place to check out and come for viet subs. The only reason for 4/5 rating not because of the specialty subs that brought it down, but the buy 10 get 1 free only applies to the Lucky Special ($4.99) I feel like if I bought 10 of any subs over $4.99 they could have given me the extra 1 for free as this is almost standard practice for all Vietnamese places that sells sub. I have been going to Lucky Supermarket since they first opened and keep on coming back. The grocery store itself is about on par with T&T and the likes. Where lucky stands out is their Banh Mi counter. Near checkout in a cozy corner, there's a deli station. They serve a wide variety of delicious sandwiches starting at $5. This is my go to quick meal since it's walking distance from home, the price is right, and there's always service with a smile. It can get quite busy around lunch time but for dinner it's great. Overshadowed by the other stores in Central City, this place is really an underrated gem in Surrey! The layout of the store is similar to that of a T&T, with alot of different Asian foods, produce, and the usual. However the small food court is really fantastic and an amazing value. As other reviews have mentioned, the Banh Mi is fantastic! Believe it or not, this was actually my first time having a banh mi, and I'm glad I came here. For less than 5 dollars, you get almost a footlong of baguette stuffed with meat and vegetables. I got the BBQ pork, which was toasted and filled with pickled carrots/radish, and fresh cilantro cucumber. Topped with a layer of tangy sauce. It tasted super fresh and delicious, and the value honestly couldn't be beat anywhere. If it were not for the location, I'm sure this place will be much more popular! My sister has been raving about this place for sometime now but I haven't had a chance to come in until a few days before Christmas when I was running errands in North Surrey. It is just off of King George with plenty of parking. The entry to the store is a bit tight because the Produce section starts right as you walk in and there's a traffic jam eventhough the store is not that busy. Overall, the layout of the store is a bit disorganized as the bakery is at the far back, behind Produce and a couple of pillars and high shelving and the lighting seem dark especially the area where the ceiling is lower. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was reasonably clean however they have limited product and brand selection, and some of the prices to be expensive. On the other hand, they do have a decent section for halal products. They have a small food court at the front but I didn't get to inspect it as there were a few carts blocking the area. T&T is just down the street so I will just keep on going there even if I have to drive around the parking lot. read more

Upon hearing about this place from my Vietnamese relatives, I knew I had to check out the hype. Like the other reviews say, it is very much like a t&t but catered towards Vietnamese food. I bought some Asian drinks and snacks, though you could find them in other Asian grocery stores. They have the BEST banh mi subs at this grocery store. I've also tried the pho and it's pretty good. The ingredients are so fresh. The service is great and the staff is also very friendly. Best of all the store is very clean. There is also lots of parking so you don't have to wait in the parking lot for a space to open up. I also love the selection of produce, meats and ingredients. I definitely choose this place over Heng Long Supermarket and T&T. read more

FINALLY. I have been waiting over two years for Lucky to open here!!! I lived in Alberta for almost five years and loved going to the Lucky Supermarkets in Edmonton (the original Chinatown location and the newer north end location). When I moved back to BC four years ago they posted on their website that they would be opening soon in Surrey. Turns out it took them probably much longer than they and I had antocipated but it was totally worth the wait. They had their grand opening the first week of August and I was able to make it out to the store. They've always had great prices in Alberta and it was no different here. I'm not sure if it's a grand opening special but they had some crazy good deals going on. Also, when I was in Alberta, they stocked some thick brown rice noodles. I could never find them here and I looked for them at every asian grocery store. They totally had them in stock here. Lucky specializes in Southeast Asian foods but also carries just about everything from western products to Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Basically one stop shop. Just amazing. So do yourself a favour by coming here, stocking up on cheap groceries, and then grab a quick bite at their food bar serving pho, banh mi, and other prepared foods. I hope they are able to expand to more locations in the Vancouver area. read more

This place makes good sandwiches but very unsanitary. The person made my sandwiches use the same purple gloves to do everything and also made my sandwiches yesterday ( I wonder if she would make the sandwiches for her self with that contaminated gloves, was disgusting) , i had to tell her to stop and then she put in the clear plastic gloves to finish making my sandwiches. This was not the first time happened to me . I reported to the front station when last time the man made me the sandwiches with the same contaminated gloves , they know that they have to put on the clear plastic gloves and they have it in front of them but they were lazy to do so ,the Covid Q19 could be spread from doing this . Please please please management retraining your staffs knowledge or I will report to the government health department if I see this again. This is a newly-opened store with big competition from nearby T+T and Dollarama. I like their eating area, security guard (because this is a "tough" plaza after sundown, and the soup line for the homeless is just across the road.) Found a better selection of dried durian and jackfruit here an T+T supermarket at Surrey Central mall. Lucky Supermarket sells a lot of other Vietnamese packaged foods by flash-freeze or high-tech dehydration including organic rice, which I really like. Very large store. Excellent parking lot with plaza security closely watching unfortunate people who use facilities in this plaza. Their hot deli's are Vietnamese and dim sum, but no veg dim sum's when I was there. I really like the exotic fresh fruits that aren't at t+t market, priced "affordably" for me. read more

Look at the expiration date on the food items they will still sell you expiated food and will refuse to give back your money. The parking is large but tight also the employees are lazy they will refuse to get stuff form the back. read more
