I like to go for walks and while I'm out, I like to stop at some of the locall markets that I find along the way. Market Ribbon is one of the markets I like to visit. They have interesting drinks and I often find fresh foods for lower than I might find them in a big box chain stores. They sell Blackball dessert drinks here but they've gone up slightly in price from what they used to be, so I decided to just grab a bottled drink that was on sale. I picked up something called Coconut Shake. Also came home with a lemon for 79 cents. Places like Superstore may have larger selection but their prices can be ridiculously high. I like these smaller markets that carry fresh foods for signficantly less than big box retailers. Service was good too. I accidentally left my keychain (with keys attached) at the cashier register. I was so happy and relieved when the lady from the cash register ran out and told me that I'd left my keys. So glad that my keys were noticed very quickly and that the lady was able to catch me before I ended up straying too far. read more

After hearing so much about this Korean supermarket, I finally had a chance to come visit. Don't let the dumpy exterior scare you. Parking is plentiful in the lot in front of the building. The inside is definitely bare bones and on the smaller side. However, it was full of customers. They're doing something right. They have Korean snacks and produce. Special mention to their dedicated kimchi and ready to eat food section, which have items like tteokbokki (starch roles in sauce) and kimbap. Oh so tasty. Another thing worth mentioning - they have sashimi grade fish, and as of the time of writing, it is much cheaper than T&T. My only real complaint is that the checkout area is set up rather poorly. I just saw a pile of people by the counters and assumed I was in the lineup. Turns out the lineup actually goes down the aisle that is closest to the wall. Pro tip. This place is definitely on my radar now. Will be back more often to empty my wallet. Recommended. read more

A pretty small Korean grocery store with fresh produce, some frozen stuff and fresh food like the kimbap and rice cake. The other side is the snack area and kitchen gadgets and condiments etc. I come here mostly for the kimbap when I do not want to go all the way to North Road for it. The kimbap here is pretty tasty though it is only one type. The appetizer snacks are also nice though the portion is tiny. You can also get Korean snack food here. Prices are fair. There is a decent size parking lot out front. read more

A hidden Korean supermarket in Burnaby. The store isn't as big as H Mart or Hannam market but it has almost all the necessity Korean items to make a good Korean meal. They offer hot food items here like Tteokbokki or Kimbab and etc. Service is not bad. They have free parking here. I did find that snack isle very limited. Not a lot of options. I got their Kimbab here and it was very tasty. read more

Korean supermarket located in Burnaby, with plenty of parking lot in the plaza. They also have a location in Coquitlam. Hot pre-made foods, fresh produce and delivery currently available. I usually come here for specialty Korean/Japanese snacks, but this time I tried their kimchi and house-cut Honeycomb Pork Belly. Kimchi ($8.99/1L): made in-house, and it's less fermented and sour as it is made fresh daily Honeycomb Cut Pork Belly ($15+): thick and fatty cut of pork belly, cut specifically in a honeycomb pattern so it's quick/easy to cook, while locking in the juiciness so it doesn't get too dry. It does get quite oily once it's cooked, so I'd recommend draining the oil, and placing it on a tissue to soak up the excess oil before serving. I had it with unmarinated and served with gochujang on lettuce, but feel free to marinate it as well. read more

I love this supermarket! Prior to Covid, I would always stop by, but since they have a few things on UberEats, I usually just order using the app. Their tteokbokki is sooo satisfying, the spice is actually there which I am a huge fan of because I love spice. They also use an abundance of mozzarella cheese curds to balance out the flavours. I am a fan of their kimbap as well, they are fresh and a large portion. Over the summer, I've been addicted to their K-Ice Cream package which they sell on UberEats, where you get a surprise bag of Korean ice bars ~ so far I've enjoyed all the delicious flavours, they are so nostalgic! I also love the surprise aspect, since you don't know what you are going to get. read more

Come here! If you want the worst shopping experience... Once a decent-good store has changed for the worst. Don't waste your valuable time, money, and energy here. Tried picking up some last minute items for the night. What a mistake. read more

A word of caution for buying the frozen shabu shabu beef (ribeye) from Assi Market Coquitlam branch. The meat are usually packed in black Styrofoam with cling wrapped on top. A few days ago, I bought a tray of frozen ribeye for hotpot but was shocked to discover that the top layer was nice ribeye meat BUT the bottom layer was another type of cheaper beef meat. I went to the store to investigate and verify with the meat department. I took a photo of the pack I bought and showed him. He apologized and said he would refund me with the receipt which I did later on. This is unscrupulous practice. Oh my gosh, this is not right and I won't patronize this store again. PLEASE BE WARNED of getting their frozen shabu shabu beef!!! read more

* Korean market with many Japanese products too * This little Korean market offers a nice selection of Korean products as well as a smaller selection of Japanese products mixed in. Prices are pretty reasonable. Makes a perfect stop to pick up a Korean popsicle after a spicy meal nearby. I enjoyed my melon popsicle for a whopping total of 99 cents. Had to smile a little bit at the parking sign in the lot though: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/3UR4Xg6Xz3HvoY7o88rIgg?select=vzu9RBb0wUcDGr7kEwEWxg Clearly time to refresh the printing on that one! read more

A little Korean grocery store in Burnaby with some Asian vegetables and products. The prices for bok choy is really good and I find it is at least 30% less than other grocery stores. I usually only leave the store with a few and mostly the same items: Asian vegetables (bok choy or nappa cabbage) Seaweed Korean noodles Korean rice roll Kimchi Wish this place was bigger! read more

Why not, support them against their heavyweight competition, H Mart, who have over 100 locations worldwide but I digress. Looks big fr outside, a bit cramped especially the right side with the tight aisles and all. Didn't manage to find the spicy seaweed so regular will do, probably healthier haha. Japanese rice can sure be expensive, as per pic. Another good place when I'm in area to get some snack food, on sale today, some roasted corn chips. Still more Korean overall than Japanese. A bit of kitchen ware in the far back right corner. Credit cards OK. Lots parking. read more

I love this place!! Their ready-to-eat Korean sushi is vegetarian and only $3.49. Location is convenient as it's on kingsway in the same complex as dollarama, dennys, new starlet dimsum and potters BBQ. Specialized in Korean groceries, their price point is fair with many selections. Decent size with half the store dedicated to vegetables and fruits, tofu, frozen food etc. Checkout is quick and Koreans are always so polite! Will be back to check out different flavours for a variety of groceries. read more

I dream of the fresh kimbap here. It's worth a mild deviation from your day to come here. read more

Great place to buy Koran or Japanese groceries, but it's not the place to go during the pandemic. I went there on the weekend and it was packed with people. The store was so crowded in the very small space. The line looped through the very small isles. They should limit the people going in. I will not be going again anytime soon. read more

The kingbob is my favourite! All the food here are made fresh and not pricy. Groceries are good price comparing to h-mart in downtown. I got all my food every time shopping here. read more

Assi market is a korean/japanese market with decent selection of asian vegetables, meats, fruits at reasonable prices.
