This is a larger supermarket that carries multiple brands of the same items (eg. chilli flakes, fish sauce, noodles etc...) compared to smaller Korean stores that only care 2-3 different brands of the same item. Hannam carries the most Jeong Ga branded foods I've seen in the lower mainland. Notable: Fruits sold in cases. Bulk veggies (daikon/cabbage) are at the forefront rather than needing to ask a clerk. read more

This place is pretty solid. Prices are better than H Mart. This place can get quite busy at times. I came here for the unagi sales that they were having (2 for $14.99). Their weekly sales are worth coming here. They carry a lot of Korean and Japanese imported goods like snacks and drinks that you can only get here. They even have Korean imported fruits. They also have hot food items and a bookstore inside the supermarket. This is very similar to H Mart. But Hannan is a lot bigger and is much more organized. I enjoyed shopping here. They do charge for bags 5cents. Starting January 2022, bags will not be available here. There are plenty of free parking. read more

Hannan superstore is located on 104 Ave and 154th St. in Surrey. It is a Korean supermarket. they're well-stocked and have a good selection of Korean food and goodies. Overall, most items price is slightly cheaper than Hmart. Since we came back fr Seoul, my hubby fell in love with Korean food. We came here to buy Galbi, Pure sesame oil and bbq sauce to make our own dish. read more

The store is well-stocked with Korean products. Prices tend to be a bit more expensive than comparable products at the nearby T&T. However, this store is great if you are looking for products not stocked at other Asian supermarkets such as bulk sized containers of sesame oil, BBQ sauce, gochujang, and prepared Korean food. Solid 3.5, not as nice as H Mart but it's got the basics, just a bit dressed down if u know what i mean. Obviously geared towards the Korean market, as they do carry some unique fish and beef products for hot pot. Good bakery in the back, as well as the washrooms, no key required. I have to question the integrity of the manager at the Surrey location. Everyone is having a difficult time with COVID-19. The manager heard customers that supermarkets are out of toilet papers. She then raised the price by 20% between a customer in the line-up and the person right behind right in front of their eyes. Seriously? Who tries to make a business off of essential needs in the middle of a crisis? How does the customer feel when she sees a person paying $24 for a pack of toilet papers and then paying $28 paper right after? This isn't the first time being cheated on the price and had to ask for a refund through the customer service. Always price check in this location if you must shop here. read more

It is conveniently located close to the Guildford mall. So when I head out this way to go to the mall, I try to go to Hannam Market as well to save time and gas. The store is smaller than their other store located in Coquitlam and their deli section isn't as good but considering that I don't have to cross the bridge, it's all right. read more

April 26 2014 - The day my mother was bullied. Korean sushi or 'Gimbap' has always been one of my family's favourites. Today, my mother went to Hannam at 9:08am to purchase some gimbap. Since the store was just opening, nothing was ready yet... So she asked if she could wait for some. The lady behind the counter was very nice, she told my mother to wait 20minutes...It ended up being 30minutes, but the lady was very pleasant & apologized, so my mother was quite happy. That changed quickly. When she took the gimbap to the cashier--she was greeted with an attitude, almost a glare. What was her problem? My mother has no idea. Then, the cashier exclaimed the price on the gimbap had been labelled wrong... "It's $5.69, not $3.99". APPARENTLY, MY MOTHER HAD TAKEN ANOTHER STICKER AND STICKED IT ON THE GIMBAP HERSELF. Yes. The cashier implied that my mother had managed to go through their machines, make her own sticker, and then stick it on the gimbap. At this point, she felt humiliated. The cashier had accused her loudly!! Everyone around her was staring. Upset, my mother tried to stand up for herself--but she couldn't, she can't speak English. Then, the manager walked by. My mother tried to explain, but it didn't make sense because the cashier had already got rid of the stickers. The only thing she could say was "before, sticker $3... Now $5". The manager thought she was bargaining. The cashier didn't speak. My mother was told to leave & stop causing trouble. My mother left the store--wrongly accused, upset, and humiliated. She swears she saw a smirk on the cashier's face as she left the store. Why was the cashier so rude? I have no idea. The only conclusion I can think of is not very pleasant... The cashier was probably racist. Dear Hannam, please pick up your phone... I'm quite angry & ranting online is barely helping. read more

Hannam is a better store in my opinion than hi mart and quite similar to h mart but just a bit more stuff. They have some good products but not too high end. I usually just go there for some Korean food and maybe meat but I don't usually get much fruits or vegetables. Snacks are nice too. A bit but I do those grocery shopping at organic stores more. H mart do have good prices and pretty nice staffs too so that's always a bonus read more

This is a weird place. Could not tell why there is a difference between manager's special or member only special. They REQUIRE membership to shop there, otherwise, none of the sale price apply to you. So i decide to waste 15 minutes to write up an application. He expected everything to be filled! When he saw i put in English as language, he demanded: do you speak Indian? i said yes! What was he really worrying about?! The store is a bit smaller (Burnaby hannam is 1.5 times bigger), but it has most of the necessary stuffs. It's decent enough, with friendly staff and workers. It's a place to go when you want Korean products!! read more

My mother asked for some ice to pack some mussels she planned to purchase because we would be away for the car for about half an hour and it was steamy hot outside. The fish guys wanted TWO DOLLARS for a small sack of ice! It's not even edible ice either and you want money? Also, there was a stocker boy there whom we asked about a certain type of noodle made by a popular company. HE WAS STOCKING NOODLES but couldn't be bothered to consider what we asked about and said without hesitation, "We don't have it!" repeatedly without even checking. He didn't even know what "buckwheat" was. My mom made a sharp comment at him about customer service and he got all cross and threw some noodle boxes around for effect. I was SO disappointed when I went there. I brought my own bag and asked casher to put my groceries in. But she just left all my stuff and my bag, didn't do anything, even didn't talk back to me, and then started to help next customer. At first, I thought this is a self-service kind of system, but that casher began to put their groceries into the bag! I was so surprised why she didn't do anything if I brought my own bag. Bring my own bag should be good for environment and good for the store. How come she needed to ignored me? Anyway, I highly recommended to go to H-Mart, not to Hannam Supermarket.
