I love this place. It's cramped and tiny and has great deals on meat and produce. The onigiris are delicious. They have my favourite Swiss roll cake and I can't resist picking one up every time I'm there, it's so close to my place. Seriously the meat and produce are really cheap and awesome. I took a star off because I've looked at my receipt a few times and noticed they didn't give me the store deals posted around the store. So I was charged more than I should have been. Really tight aisles where it seems to only fit 1.5 person at most (kept getting bumped into and apologizing for bumping into other people) and inaccurate pricing. Even if you mention it to the cashiers they don't care and won't honour the price that was shown to the public. And looking at other reviews on google, this doesn't seem to be the first time. Imagine the shock if I didn't check the price and got home to an unexpected price tag. Even though extremely confusing, neither of the price tags shown were accurate for the item. The cashier didn't even apologize for the inaccurate pricing, honour it, or seem to change the price tag. It might be still cheap, but I hate being lied to, so I didn't buy it. Not coming back again! I don't care if it's cheaper than H mart! This will be the very first and very last time I come here. If you do decide to come, remember to check your receipt. read more

We took a quick browse through this place before heading to Sakuraya next door. Grabbed some onigiri and drinks for lunch. The onigiri they sell comes from Zenya which is in the food court at International Village. We got Tuna Mayo, Spicy Tuna Mayo and Salmon Mayo. Wasn't too impressed with the Salmon Mayo as it was mostly rice with barely any salmon filling. The Tuna ones were good though. Quite reasonably priced onigiri. It really is better though when you order it at Zenya as they make it fresh for you. This place is a Korean Market. There's another, slightly smaller Kim's Mart in South Burnaby. It's a good place to pick up Korean groceries. Ironically though, I have so far only bought onigiri and seaweed for making onigiri from Kim's Mart, and Onigiri is really more of a Japanese thing than a Korean thing. Ummm...we did buy some Aloe Vera juice from Kim's Mart a couple of times. I guess that's more Korean than Japanese! It is your standard Asian market where the aisles are tiny, the shelves are stuffed with products, some produce don't have the English translation, and you can't figure what the price is for the item because there is just sooo much going on The prices are definitely cheaper than H-mart. The kimbap is something you need to get! Also if one of the flavours are empty you can ask their employees and they will get you more. They also have their own kimchi which is delish as well! This Korean supermarket is quite convenient for the local people to do grocery shopping. Pricing is reasonable. There is street parking and a few parking stalls at the back of the supermarket. The supermarket is not big, so all the aisles and shelves are quite tight in general. Whenever you walk, you would have to wait and let other people walk (for being polite). They sell different types of veggies, fruits, meat, fish, seafood, soy products, dried food and etc. They even sell some cooked food like marinated Korean veggies, sushi and etc. I would highly recommend for doing grocery shopping here if you live in the neighbourhood. Well stocked, low price, good service. It's a bit disorganized in a tight space ,but price is way cheaper than H-mart for Korean food. Meat, it's alright but H-mart and T&T sells better tasting meat in my opinion. Japanese food is also cheap here. The Japanese curry has variety of flavours to choose like spicy, not spicy, tomato stew, Java curry and etc. What do I love from this store? House-made tofu, coffee or banana milk, Korean/ Japanese pastry, tea bags, okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) flour, Korean chips and condiments. Also they have house made kimbab(Korean style sushi), fried chicken, spicy ricecake (ddukbokki), tonkatsu and veggie mix for bibimbap. One time my parents bought a lot and they got $2 coupon for the next purchase. You can get even more savings 'till the expiry date. read more

If you live in the area (Fraser/Main and Broadway), you're lucky to have this in your hood. For us it's a destination shopping experience (ie. we usually have to "plan" the trip). What's good here? The meat. Whether you're going to do bulgogi, hotpot, BBQ on the barbie, or just pan fry a few things, the selection here is excellent. The only main thing missing for me is sliced lamb meat which another Korean meat shop on Kingsway offers. I love the bacon on my barbie by cutting them in half size, sprinkle with tiny bit of salt, and just brown both sides. Try not to overcook them as that will harden the meat. The rib eye sliced beef is perfect for bulgogi. You'll have youtube the recipe for marinating, or you can try the Korean route, which is no marinating at all, and just dip in a simple sauce with soy and sesame afterwards. In a hurry? They also sell marinated pork/beef. Just throw on the pan at home and in minutes, you have a dish that's as good as the restaurant's. We buy the occasional vegetables, but tend to stay away from the fruits as we have had a few negative experiences with them. So just note that some items may be cheap, but they're cheap for a reason. Buyers beware. We also like their selection of grains. You can buy quinoa here for a reasonable price. And yes, keep an eye open for sale on Shin ramen. Simply the best. read more

I liked that they have smaller portioned veggies . I love their Kimchi and their side dishes. They used to have slabs of frozen pre shredded immigration crab which I really loved but now I can only find a thawed out at other Asian stores . I myself Korean and this is my one of favourite grocery store ! Some of reviewers mentioned that their veggies and fruits goes bad (personally that's the one of the reason I like here !! Why?? that means their fresh foods are NOT soaked with preservation to keep it longer. When I go for Big cooperations groceries or kin's mart their veggies and fruits seems last forever! Recently, have been finding that much more of the packaged produce is mouldy on the day of purchase when we get home and open it up. Great price but quality control seems to have gone down. Has happened with celery, strawberry, dates, citrus fruits, and think there was one more. I really like shopping at Kim's, but am seeing an alarming pattern for produce at this location. read more

I really like this store because of the groceries are very fresh and the prices are reasonable. The only thing I am very disappointed is the male manager or probably the owner of the store is very rude, and likes to rush the customers out of the store as soon as the payment done. This has also resulted lots of mistakes occurring on the receipts that I have to go back to complain. They thought that they did a quick job, but it actually took even longer time to fix the mistake. It has happened once in 2-3 visits. It's been stressful shopping in this store because of the low quality of the customer service. If there is another asian store in the neighborhood. Unbelievable!!! I wish I could've said that I've driven by here many times and maybe say a mental note to drop by but I didn't even know this place existed, until a few nights ago when I was waiting around to do pickup from Sushi Loku, so a bunch of us decided to check KM out while we waited for our beloved, incredible sushi. A back-to-basic version of H-mart; literally has all the brands too probably but just less quantity on the shelves. And if you're only looking for rice, then you're in luck because they stack on both sides right at the front when you walk in, so you don't need to walk a mile inside H-mart. While a good-sized store, it's quite packed in here, not spacious to whip out a shopping cart. What you should buy here is their bag of cooked squashes, 6 pieces for just $2!!! Sweet, steamed and easy to peel off the skin....totally healthy too! lots of fibre... Just 2 cashiers on the right, but quite efficient. Credit cards ok. Free parking all around. For Vancouverites who need to get their Korean fixings, this place is great, to avoid DT or driving all the way to North Road or Richmond. read more

They have a terrific in-store made selection including: kimbap (veggie sushi roll), myulchibokkeum (stir fried anchovy), Yachaejeon (veggie pancake), and Dukbokgi (spicy rice cake). Dinner is served! I do not have an indoor grill, so I tried placing the marinated short beef ribs in the oven and it was still VERY flavourful. Buy their kimchi in tubs to keep as a staple, it will make a quick meal with a bowl of rice and kim nori (roasted seaweed) which sells conveniently in bulk packages. Their frozen mackerel is pretty fresh as well. And no visit is complete if I do not pick up at least one spicy instant noodle package.... read more

I didn't see any namtog - maybe they were sold out this time. Naturally, you can stock up on your choco-pies or kewpie mayo. There's a good selection of wasabi peas; some vegies I'd never heard of; and, of course, heaps of sauces to choose from. read more

It really works for me because I have a lot of bulk/frozen stuff at home, and I bake so I got my snacks/carbs covered, so what I'm saying is, I just get produce and eggs and tofu, sometimes chicken, and I'm SET! And sometimes I try something that I can't quite identify, with mixed results. Thumbs up. Narrowest aisles in Vancouver! I recommend NOT coming in at peak times. I dunno, this place works for me. It's significantly cheaper than Buy-Low, without all the gratuitous junk food temptations (familiar junk food is a lot more tempting). They don't have raincoast crisps and goat cheese, but for basics this is the neighbourhood spot. read more

Rotten Food. I have purchased their 'packaged pork hock' (found near their ready to eat area near the front) many times probably once every few weeks. The last 2 times the jalapenos were rotten, and the spoiling was also taken on by the meat as well. I have serious concerns about their food handling and quality of ingredients they use in their ready to eat products. I will no longer be buying any ready to eat foods from here. read more

Kim's Mart! I shop here all the time. It's a Korean supermarket with so many varieties of kimchi available you'll get dizzy just trying to choose. (None of them are vegetarian, in case you're wondering.) They also make their own tofu from organic soybeans - it's available at a cost of two for $3, seriously. I use it all the time. Also great for noodles, produce, sauces, and Asian snacks. Not good for bread, peanut butter, or any other traditionally North American foods. They are especially good for Asian-style produce, but you can get pretty much anything here. The downside is that they often use styrofoam and wrap for packaging. Still, great shiitakes here, mm. And cucumbers. Try the fresh noodles - you can get fresh ramen, soba, udon, and so on. These go moldy if you leave them in the fridge for a while, FYI. read more

Awesome little market. Despite living within a short walk of H-Mart in downtown, I often find myself going out of my way to shop at Kim's. The produce is quite nice here, their selection of packaged Korean goods are good, and the prices are excellent, much cheaper than H Mart. They have very narrow aisles, so expect to rub shoulders with staff and customers. Favorite part of visiting is the smell of fresh roasted sweet potatoes, especially on a cool winter day. read more

I love Kims Mart for their beautiful (and inexpensive) produce and their awesome selection of exotic noodle, fish and meat things. I especially love their Korean sushi, which for $2.99 makes a healthy, filling, and delicious lunch. The Buy Low at Kingsgate Mall is closer to me, but I'll gladly go the extra couple of blocks if I don't need staples (such as flour, eggs, milk, cheese) to go to Kim's Mart instead. I'm only giving Kim's Mart four stars instead of 5, because the people who keep the shelves stocked always seem so aggravated that you're shopping and thus blocking their path. By "seem aggravated" I mean, will almost run you over if you stand between their cart and the carrot bin they're trying to re-fill. It's such a weird quirk, I sort of find it charming unless I'm already in a grumpy mood and then it makes me grumpier. And they are ALWAYS re-filling, stocking etc. in the middle of the day. Sometimes several carts at once, and the store is very small with very narrow isles, so when the cart comes barreling towards you, often the only way to avoid a collision is to back-up out of the way. But I do love Kim's Mart! read more

I'm not Korean and I have no idea what to do with most Korean foods. That said, I LOVE KIm's Mart. They have a good selection of produce with excellent prices, plus plenty of ready-to-cook Korean dishes. The house-made tofu is delicious. I'm often surprised how much food I get for so little money. Cons: I find the meat selection a little bit iffy. Also, if you are buying the prepared dishes, CHECK THE BEST BEFORE DATES. They tend to leave things out a bit too long, in my opinion. read more

Love this place as it's in my hood, has excellent meats and cheap product, and various Asian goods. Their pink gloves in the back are heavy duty and have lasted me for months; I rely heavily on their beef bones for bone broth. And they also have random foods like fresh nopales cacti pads, roasted yams, condiments and snacks. Minus a star as you can always be guaranteed to be treated by horrendous smells during your visit, and impolite to rude treatment by some of who I believe are the owners - especially if you are a woman. Kim's Mart has the best produce in the whole neighbourhood. It is also the lowest priced produce as well as being the best.I highly recommend this shop to anyone who likes fresh fruit and vegetables. I am impressed with the butcher too- I often get chicken,pork and beef there. They have lower prices than Buy Low's meat counter. I also like the fact that they carry so much ready made food and fresh specialty products. I am pretty white bread in my knowledge of Korean foods but everything I have tried has been really good. It is crowded in the store but that has to do with so many customers and so many products....neither are a bad thing. read more

4.5/5 is my rating for Kim's Mart! Cute little Korean market for those who live in Vancouver. They have a lot of items at really good prices! My mom gets a lot of her groceries here and I have a Korean friend whose family also comes here to get stuff. Last time I got pork belly here for a really good price and it was high quality too. :) The only downside is when they get busy their checkout line backs up all the way to the back of the store! Since their store is small the people lining up might block the side aisle by the fridge/freezers. At my most recent visit I saw that they have opened another location near one of the Skytrain stations in Burnaby. I have yet to visit that one though. read more

Wow, excellent service and selection of Korean + asian foods. There is a great variety of korean side dishes, noodles + rice cakes, sauces of all kinds for korean food, spices, and all the essentials for a korean kitchen. You can get fresh produce, as well as meat and fish. Also by the front of the store is fresh roasted yam and corn which is absolutely delicious. On this particular trip the service was excellent. I bought rice cakes and the cashier noticed that they were on the harder side and took me over the cakes to exchange it for a softer, fresher, container. Good store for picking some Korean snacks and bbq meat. The only problem is that it is quite crowded during rush hour so you will not be able to push a shopping cart through the item. Nevertheless produce is always fresh and staff are helpful to an extend. read more
