We took a quick browse through this place before heading to Sakuraya next door. Grabbed some onigiri and drinks for lunch. The onigiri they sell comes from Zenya which is in the food court at International Village. We got Tuna Mayo, Spicy Tuna Mayo and Salmon Mayo. Wasn't too impressed with the Salmon Mayo as it was mostly rice with barely any salmon filling. The Tuna ones were good though. Quite reasonably priced onigiri. It really is better though when you order it at Zenya as they make it fresh for you. This place is a Korean Market. There's another, slightly smaller Kim's Mart in South Burnaby. It's a good place to pick up Korean groceries. Ironically though, I have so far only bought onigiri and seaweed for making onigiri from Kim's Mart, and Onigiri is really more of a Japanese thing than a Korean thing. Ummm...we did buy some Aloe Vera juice from Kim's Mart a couple of times. I guess that's more Korean than Japanese! Anyways, good selection of Korean stuff even if we haven't actually bought much of it ourselves!

Side dishes and one the best kimbaps in the city for such a good price!

It is your standard Asian market where the aisles are tiny, the shelves are stuffed with products, some produce don't have the English translation, and you can't figure what the price is for the item because there is just sooo much going on The prices are definitely cheaper than H-mart. The kimbap is something you need to get! Also if one of the flavours are empty you can ask their employees and they will get you more. They also have their own kimchi which is delish as well! I would totally recommend you check the supermarket out and support local!

Same great rating for Kim's Mart. This is the place that we seem to have to make that monthly trip for certain items either because they're priced better than the rest or ya just gotta go there. I really like the familiarity of the place, it's narrow aisles and the sound and sensation all make for the perfect experience of a traditional Asian market for me. Like I was transported to Korea for my grocery shopping. Parking has never been an issue when I went . But you know what? What.... So the ultimate reason for traveling all the way into this area to shop, is for the rice. Yes I said it, the rice.

Inside the magical (and tightly packed!) Kim's Mart.

Recently, have been finding that much more of the packaged produce is mouldy on the day of purchase when we get home and open it up. Great price but quality control seems to have gone down. Has happened with celery, strawberry, dates, citrus fruits, and think there was one more. I really like shopping at Kim's, but am seeing an alarming pattern for produce at this location.

Big fan of Asian-food-stuffs places Long live Kim's Mart and the terribly narrow aisles. I don't think you're allowed in if you're beyond a 30" waist circumference... kidding. you'll fit. just not easily.

Business is very good on Family Day!

Unbelievable!!! I wish I could've said that I've driven by here many times and maybe say a mental note to drop by but I didn't even know this place existed, until a few nights ago when I was waiting around to do pickup from Sushi Loku, so a bunch of us decided to check KM out while we waited for our beloved, incredible sushi. A back-to-basic version of H-mart; literally has all the brands too probably but just less quantity on the shelves. And if you're only looking for rice, then you're in luck because they stack on both sides right at the front when you walk in, so you don't need to walk a mile inside H-mart. While a good-sized store, it's quite packed in here, not spacious to whip out a shopping cart. What you should buy here is their bag of cooked squashes, 6 pieces for just $2!!! Sweet, steamed and easy to peel off the skin....totally healthy too! lots of fibre... Just 2 cashiers on the right, but quite efficient. Credit cards ok. Free parking all around. For Vancouverites who need to get their Korean fixings, this place is great, to avoid DT or driving all the way to North Road or Richmond.

It is located right next door to Kim's Mart and is accessible via a flight of stairs leading upwards. They carry all sorts of Japanese goods. I picked up a few bottles of pink coloured Sakura cola there, and some prepackaged seasoned kelp which I like using at home to make onigiri. Usually I do it all from scratch using dried up sheets of Dashi Kombu. The prepackaged ones will save me a lot of work the next time I want to make them! We also found many items that were expired or close to their expiration date. There were huge discounts on these items. (eg. boxes of powdered drink mixes) We're fine buying these kinds of products as the "Best Before" dates don't necessarily mean "No Good after..." to us! I appreciate that this store openly admits that these products have expired or are near their expiration date. Gotta love the honesty! Quite heartbroken to learn that this place has been put on the market and may be gone soon. Boo hoo! We only just discovered this hidden gem. If this place does go, hope that we can squeeze in a few more visits before it's gone!

This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience.
