It was late in the day and we didn't have a whole lot of time left before we would need to be home again for a family dinner. That's when I suddenly remembered about King's Market. We hadn't gone shopping there for ages but they have a great selection of Asian foods and are so much closer to our home than T&T Supermarket, which is our usual "go to" for Asian foods. While King's Market may be smaller in name, it's actually a fairly good sized market with several different rooms to shop in. Veggies, fruit, meat, seafood, frozen foods, Asian candies...they are well stocked and well worth checking out for any of your basic needs. I found the White Rabbit candies I was searching for, and also bought a box of Agar Agar powder. Not sure what I'm going to use the Agar Agar powder for, but it's supposed to be a Vegan alternative for gelatin and I've been curious about it for quite some time. Will have to do some research to see how I can make use of it. I'm so happy to have found it at King's Market because even in a regular supermarket, I'm not sure which aisle I might have found it in, or even if I would have found it at all. Parking is plentiful in the lot in the front (back?) of the building, as well as on the street. The building clearly used to be 3 different businesses, as the layout is really bizarre. There are 3 large "rooms", joined by a corridor. To be honest, this place is probably quite the fire hazard to newcomers. Thank goodness somebody had the sense to stick a large map on the wall. Some doorways between the sections would be nice. With that out of the way, there are 3 sections. Product, meat/aquarium (yes, aquarium), and dried goods. Pricing is in line with other places. The place is quite popular with locals, which tells you everything you need to know. As with other similar businesses, there is a hot food section as well. I picked up some takeout and it was mediocre. Does the job, but nothing special. I imagine this place serves the local market quite well. Wouldn't make a special trip out, but good to know the place exists.

This spot is not my least favorite location and there are some helpful senior staff but they also have some staff here that would actually answer your questions with "I don't know" or "dunno, hmm, can you ask the other staff..." as if that's an acceptable service expectation at T&T...Tina would not be pleased. Food-wise, their sushi section is usually well stocked and their uni sashimi is quite fresh when they do carry uni. Though i should note that their uni sashimi are priced higher than Sungiven. The dessert and pastries section here are decent where you can find a whole cake for special occasions and pretty looking desserts and their hot foods section could consider adding more variety to its menu. Regardless of its store name, it is a solid supermarket, well stocked with Asian products including quality T&T branded snacks, korean beauty brands plus fresh fruits and plenty of food varieties.

The fried foods were what really stood out for me. I don't recall this being here at all. It took a lot of restraint for me to not buy anything from here. Deep fried squid, deep fried vegetables, deep fried seaweed roll, tornado potato...etc. They all looked so tempting. I grabbed a couple boxes of Kimbap (One Burdock Kimbap and a Fried Gourd Kimbap) plus a Rice drink that was on sale for $1.99. They also had some Triangular Maki (Onigiri) for sale. No Vegetarian flavors. Tuna was the only flavor I could have eaten since I'm Pescatarian. I decided to stick with the Vegetarian Kimbaps though. Upon first glance, I thought the rice drink was made just from rice milk and that it would be dairy free. It was only when I got home that I read the ingredients label and realized that there was actually some milk in it. Not a problem for me, but for anyone who has lactose intolerance...be sure to check ingredient labels always. Anyways, this Rice drink was Sweet Potato flavored. Ever had a Sweet Potato flavored drink? I thought it sounded like a really interesting flavor, and of course...being on sale, that was extra incentive to try something new. I shared it with my daughter. I think she wasn't too impressed with it. Personally, I loved it. It really did taste like sweet potato. I found that quite impressive. So I sent my concern message to them but even one week had passed, they haven't replied any words to me. So let's me write down the warning here. Price tag Original price $5.99 Best Before February 1, 2025 Reduced price $4.99 Best Before February 3, 2025. Why they extended BB date? I don't get it. As they wanted to get rid of it, they reduced price. BB day should be the same. Personaly, I work for food factory and am shocked to know how T&T's managing system is not accurate. Anyways, free parking downstairs by spending $10. The store isn't as crazy busy as some locations. It is also a smaller T&T compared to other locations like the one near by on 1st avenue or Metrotown. They have pretty much everything one is looking for. Well stocked. The cashier area is a bit chaotic and crowded. If you got hot food here, there is an area with tables and chairs located after exiting T&T. There you will find lots of older seniors sitting there and eating the hot food that they just purchased. The area is super small.
